Dodge - Spirit :: 1994 - Radiator Reservoir Started To Overflow / White Smoke Cloud
My dodge spirit has 80,000 miles on it. i love this little car, however, yesterday for some reason while driving my radiator reservoir started to overflow. I didn't notice at the time, but when i got home there was water in the engine compartment and it was obvious that it had come from the reservoir. This morning I went out to drive the car and at first the engine shook a little but then started running smoothly, when I backed out i noticed a rather large cloud of white smoke (water in the engine) I immediately turned off the car. I have a feeling I will need to rebuild this car's engine. What I should expect to pay for this repair?

It's leaking antifreeze directly under the radiator before I pull out the radiator could it be something else, it's hard to see without putting it up a lift just what else it could be like the water pump or hoses or connections stuff like that.

I have an '09 Accent, with 102,000 miles on it, it is in good shape, and current on all its maintenance, however, i am leaking coolant via the radiator cap, and don't know why. It has been replaced twice, once by me, and once at the dealership after a pressure check confirmed i was not leaking anywhere else, ie: into the engine.
View 1 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Radiator Leaking Coolant - Faint Burning Odor
I bought a 2011 GTI this past March, it has about 5700 miles on it. Last week I posted about my radiator leaking coolant and what I went through to get it fixed. I got the car back last saturday and everything was fine, up until tonight. I was pulling onto the highway (no one coming, luckily), and as I went to shift into 2nd, I heard a loud bang, almost like my car backfired, and then the CEL came on and my car went into limp mode. I immediately pulled over, but it was dark and I couldn't really see much (not sure what I was looking for anyways). I was about 3 miles from my house so I drove home cautiously, but as I was driving home, I smelled a faint burning odor.

Recently I started leaking coolant on the driver side area to the right of the engine:
I am assuming I need to replace some part/tubing that has a leak in it, but I am not sure what any of these things are called. How to identify what leaking part here is?
Dodge - Caravan :: Dripping And Losing Coolant At The Lower Right Hand Side Of Radiator
I have the 2001 Dodge Caravan with the 3.3 Liter engine (I think it's a 3.3, the largest anyway). I was having a drip and losing coolant at the lower right hand side of the radiator (driver's side). Thinking it was the radiator, I replaced it with a new one, along with the lower radiator hose (The upper had been replaced within the last year).
Much to my dismay something is still leaking and shows up on the bottom of the crossmember bar in which the radiator sits in. I'm thinking I did nothing to solve the problem. But what in the world would also be in the general area that would cause an anti-freeze leak? I noticed a couple other smaller radiator type devices, one probably has to do with the air conditioning and don't know about the other, probably a transmission cooler?
Ford Excursion :: 2000 V8 - Whirling Noise / Radiator Leaking Coolant?
Today while I was working I walked back to my truck after finishing the job and saw a red fluid leaking from behind the front bumper, I crawled underneath and saw that it was leaking from somewhere between the plastic cover for the fan and the radiator but I couldn't find exactly where it was coming from, I drove 30 miles before I got to the job site with my ac on, and my ac was making a noise that seemed like a whirling noise but I kinda brushed it off as the condenser going bad or whatever. After I found my truck leaking I decided to drive 20 miles to the next job site but this time I left the ac off and nothing happened the temperature gauge didn't even go up, I checked underneath when I finished driving and there was no more coolant leaking from the radiator. I drove it an additional 50 miles before I got home and still no leaks. Could the bad ac system cause coolant to leak? I have a 2000 excursion 5.4L V8

2001 F250- V10... Lower radiator hose has coolant leaking - Right now I cannot tell if its the hose or the radiator itself (hoping not) - I tried to take the clamp off and it broke - Any tricks to removing the hose? its on there pretty tight.... I guess if I don't want to save the hose I can rip it off with a pair of pliers but before I do that wasn't sure.
View 2 RepliesChevrolet - Caprice :: 1994 - Leaking Coolant From Heater Hose?
The leak looked like it was coming from a heater hose. The individual I bought it from said he fixed it and it wasn't leaking the day I bought it. Upon driving it home...cranked the heat up and windows fogged, switched to defog with no luck. Added some coolant and still the same thing and leak began again.
It smells like antifreeze inside and fog has oily feeling when wiping it off the window. Got in on the lift and no luck seeing where it was leaking from, even with it running. My previous experience with bad heater cores is that it leaks on the inside and smells like coolant... is it leaking on the outside or is it something else?
It's NOT overheating or blowing any kind of smoke. Temp gauge read normal! It's a 4.3L, 1994 Caprice LS .....
Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Coolant Is Leaking From Left Side Between Radiator And The Block
My father put my f150 into reverse he says he didn't gas it. It was 2-3 feet in between the cars and the hitch went into the bottom grill below the front license plate. Coolant is leaking from the left side between the radiator and the block. Now the trucks hitch didn't go far enough to hit the radiator, or anything else I can see. I have cleaned the coolant and am in the waiting process try to identify the location. I believe that it is oozing from the water pump ( most of the coolant is underneath it), on the other hand there is coolant also by the radiator just not as much. I have the ability to fix this just not the tools. My family is going to take it to the dealer ship I just do not want them to get finagled around.
View 3 RepliesFord A/C :: 1993 E150 - Coolant Leaking From Trans Cooler Radiator Fitting
I decided to install a trans cooler since I was servicing the trans and got the pan dropped anyway. But when I cracked open the trans cooler connector(which is totally unnecessary and should be avoided completed), I noticed that I broke the trans cooler connector fitting to the radiator and now the coolant leaks badly from around the fitting. What are my options other than replacing the radiator? Would some liquid metal treatment do the magic? Or is there a way to remove and replace the fitting(I am not sure this would be possible since it looked like the fitting was welded to the radiator)?
View 5 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Coolant Leak On Driver Side - Radiator Leaking?
On Friday am I noticed a 6" sized puddle on the garage floor. Coolant leak on the drivers side coming off the frame. Dropped it off at the dealer on Sunday and today the tech tells me it was in fact a radiator leak and the new one will be here wed. They hope to have it buttoned late Wednesday. I am assuming all will be covered under warranty.
I have 23k miles logged and had just got home from a 1300 mile run pulling about 18k worth of hay and trailer. Truck performed flawlessly. Averaged 11mpg for the trip. I am hoping this is the first and last radiator replacement I have to go thru.
Ford Ranger / B-Series :: 1994 - Coolant Loss / Head Gasket Leaking
I am working on my buddy's 1994 Ranger with a 2.3L I4 that has been going thru a large amount of engine coolant. The trucks has approximately 180,000 miles on it. When I had it parked on concrete I have not seen any signs of coolant on the concrete or any signs of coolant leaking. The next place I checked was inside the cab to see if there was any coolant from the heater core and there was not. The water pump has been replaced a couple of years back. I replaced the spark plugs today and did not see anything on the plugs that I would have thought were signs of coolant in the combustion chambers.
With that being said I have not worked on a vehicle with a leaking head gasket before. Would there be any visible signs on the sparks plugs? If so what would I be looking for? When standing in front of the vehicle with the engine running there is a slight smell of antifreeze being "vaporized". Are there any noted issues with this engine that would cause this? Are there any other things I should check? Could it be a leaking head gasket causing this? If so how can I check for that?
Dodge - Neon :: 1996 - Leaking Coolant / Reservoir Tank Was Half Empty
Why my 96 dodge neon is leaking coolant. I was checking my oil and I noticed the reservoir tank was half empty, so I assumed it was nothing out of the ordinary since it's a 17 year old car. When I filled it though, it came pouring out of the tube that sits right under the tank. I'm capping it off every day before I drive and it holds, but it's definitely got a slow leak. It seems to only hold it for 4 days of driving for an hour. My temperature gauge stays at the normal level, but you can smell the antifreeze burning and the engine's running hot. I'm not too mechanically inclined, but what could be wrong with it? I've recently installed a new alternator and clutch cable and found out my valve cover gasket is leaking. I really want to save this car instead of getting a new one.

I had a radiator leak, it lost all fluid in a matter of meters so fortunate I was half a block from my driveway.

Dodge - Intrepid :: 2004 - Getting Oil In Radiator?
I have 2004 Dodge Intrepid 3.5L with 153K miles. For the past tow months I am getting oil in the radiator but NO antifreeze in the oil. Oil level gets low but the transmission fluid is fine. No coolant smoke, No Oil smoke, Have been draining coolant, Passed emission 3-months ago, Gas mileage is fine @ 23MPG. I have to add about quart a month (1000?-miles). I have been using Mobile-1 synthetic since bought the car at 108K. Currently 153K miles on the engine. Two years ago water pump and timing belt was replaced. If it is the head gasket then why oil is fine and no coolant in the oil. It is Not transmission Fluid either.
View 7 RepliesCamry :: Radiator Was Leaking But It Has Stopped?
In my 02 Camry (2.4 Liter 4 cyl. engine), my mechanic pointed out a slight coolant leak in my radiator in a little circular area right below the cap. He said the entire radiator would have to be replaced.
I decided to continue driving and keep a close eye on the leak and the coolant level until I could leave it at the shop for the day so he could replace it. At first, I did notice a slight drip in the spot he pointed out whenever the engine was running or had been running (it didn't leak when the engine was off and was cool).
Well, this past week I've continuously been checking the leak/coolant level, but for some reason the leak has stopped. Every time I get home, I'll pop the hood with the engine still running, but the spot in which it was leaking has been bone dry. The coolant level in the reservoir has not dropped at all either (although I did notice it drop those first few days when it was still leaking).
My 1st question is why has it stopped leaking, and my 2nd question is is it safe to keep driving without getting the radiator replaced?
Transmissions :: 2004 Dodge Neon Had A Radiator Fail?
So, I have a 2004 Dodge Neon that had a radiator fail, pushing coolant into the transmission. I tried one garage that wouldn't touch it, but did find another one willing to try a power flush. I had that done, and several subsequent flushes over two weeks left me with clean transmission fluid. It's been about 3 weeks (and one 200 mile trip) without any issues, but I'm a little worried about any damage that might've been done.
