Chevrolet - Silverado :: 1997 - Brakes Squealing When Get Close To A Full Stop
For the past 2 months or so, my brakes sound like a horn when I get close to a full stop. The pads are about 7 months old. Brake fluid is good. Oil isn't fresh but I changed it about 9 months ago. 1997 Chevy Silverado C1500 2WD 5.7L.

The brakes on my 2007 Hyundai Elantra make a grinding sound (almost like finger nails on wood) when I have tried to stop in icy conditions. It's also hard to get the car to stop and I end up pumping the brake. A Hyundai dealer replaced the front brakes over a year ago and Adirondack tire replaced back brake pads in the summer. Is the noise part of the anti-lock feature or does it sound like a problem?

Just purchased a 2010 ls with 20,000 miles on it. Brakes make a popping noise when coming to a stop. Not all the time, seem to get worse as brakes get hot. Have had to dealer twice they have resurfaced rotor, bled system put new pads. Still have noise my service manager opened a trouble in the lexus system and called Atlanta. They said this is characteristic of this car. I drove a couple of other ls cars and did not hear the noise. Not sure where this is going to end up. I saw where the brake actuators where changed on the 07,08 and 09.

When I back up the T-egg and at the same time I press the brake to control the speed. I hear a strange sound coming from the rear brake. Something like I hit something. How often? I would say, always. I went to the dealer 2 months ago and could not duplicate at that time.

From everything I have read I can't seem to figure out exactly what the fix is for what feels like brakes sticking after coming to a full stop, then accelerating? I will describe as a clunking and kicking feel, as if power to the rear end is being delayed then kicking in.
From all the posts and replies it seems like a differential issue. Exactly what the issue is and the correct fix? 2012 purchased used with less than 5K miles in 2013, problem has slowly been getting worse over time.

What may cause a strange whirring sound when my R32 is on. I can be in park, sitting still..whatever...It sounds like it's coming from somewhere around the rear tires.
Whirring...humming... Honestly to me it sounds similar to an electric motor trying to do it's job but something is keeping it from doing so. Would be the best way to describe it. I just got the car a few weeks ago and the sound started last week.
Chevrolet - Silverado :: 1995 - Overheating When Slow Down To Make A Turn
I have a 1995 Chevy Silverado 1500 Ext. Cab Z71 4x4 that I've had since '97. Last year it started over-heating, the temperature stays exactly where it is supposed to when I'm running down the highway, but starts to over-heat when I slow down to make a turn (up to about 230), but cools back down at an idle. The Truck has a standard 5.7L TBI 350
Trying to remedy this problem I've changed the thermostat 4 times (with a 160, 180, and 195), changed the radiator, changed the map sensor (thinking that it might be leaning the fuel out to much), changed both temperature sensors, replaced the water pump 3 times (the 3rd time I ordered a Flowcooler waterpump from Summit), changed the instrument cluster and computer thinking it might be electrical, replaced the catalytic converter (thinking it might be restricted), I even replaced every hose on the motor, I then installed a brand-new GM 5.7L 350 crate engine but it did the same thing.
After installing the new engine I replaced the knock sensor, the O2 sensor, changed the throttle body (with one from another motor i had for my son's '94), replaced the distributor, replaced the injectors, checked and made sure there wasn't and blockage in the center intake, cut the exhaust at the catalytic converter just to make sure there was no restrictions.
I recently tried a manual temp gauge just to see if the motor was actually getting hot, which it is.

I have fairly new brakes on my 97 Chevy Tahoe with 202,000+ miles. For the last several months when I come to a stop, sometimes the brakes make a grinding sound (or 'boy-yoi-yong' sound- it's hard to tell) and the brake pedal feels like it 'slips' although the brakes do always stop the car. The brake don't always do this but it happens at least once or twice a day. Sometimes the problems is very mild, other times it's very noticeable. have it checked by two mechanics and they can't get the brakes to misbehave so they can't find the problem. All they did was flush the brake fluid twice and tell me it MIGHT be the master cylinder or the ABS system. My husband got laid off from his job and I am disabled. We can't afford to start fixing everything the mechanics THINK might be wrong with the brakes.

I've read about transmission shift problems between certain gears with these cars but don't know if my symptom applies. 2004, AWD with 35k miles, however mostly short stop and go driving.
When applying the brakes to come to a complete stop, there's kind of a abrupt downshift that I can even feel in the brake pedal. The car even has a last second little shake and a bit of a clunk..

Definitely not the transmission. Pulling the ABS/VSC/TC fuse , the car brakes normally. Skid control affects turning in curves and TC affects acceleration. So, it's ABS related..

Phaeton :: Noise From Right Rear That Sound Like Something Winding Up And Down
Friday when driving home I kept hearing a weird sound from the right rear that sound like another engine running while going 30 to 70 MPH. The noice sounded like something being winding up and down. Take your foot off the accelerator and the noise was still there. Not sure if its the Tranny or Differental or some bearing.
Took it by the dealer on Saturday and the Service writer could not figure it out. They plan on looking it over on Monday or Tuesday. What I might find on strange noise. The car just turned 47,000 miles so its still under warranty.

What this noise is, still getting used to having axles and such in the rear as well. Its a rubbing / winding sound coming from the rear, and seems to only make noise when the clutch is engaged / in gear and accelerating. It stops (probably from the # of rotations making it hard to hear) around 15-20 mph. It starts slow and of course increases with speed. Its not a nasty dead-wheel-bearing sound, just a rub. My father in law has an 04 EX with the 5.4. It has a weird sound coming from the front passenger side. He listened to the jiffy lube kid who told him it was the brakes. I pulled one side completely apart tonight and the brakes are fine. We took it for a drive so I could hear the noise. It is coming from the passenger side up front. It is intermittent.
Doesn't matter if we hit a bump or pot hole. It sounds like a cat being run over. It will either last for a few seconds or just really quick. I crawled underneath and could not find anything loose. The first time I heard it I thought it was a shock. But the second time it was way too long to be a shock. And they are only a year old.
Secondly, it has a cat, and two mufflers..... Is this normal?

Any fix for the rear brake noise I am getting on a 2001 Elantra. I pulled the drums off and inspected the drums and shoes all looks fine. Then I adjusted the brakes cleaned everything and still get noise. It occurs as the vehicle is coming to a stop last 10mph to stop.

I have a 98 K1500 Z71, having trouble with a ABS brakes going off every time I come to a stop, occasionally I don't even have to push on the brake just turn a corner and they go off. The brake light or the ABS light on the dash don't light up. I have taken the speed sensors off front axles cleaned then and sanded the rust off where they mount and still the same problem. Also, in the world of OBD scan tools, I know what ABS stands for ( brakes ) but what SRS stands for?

I read a similar post but no resolution. My '05 Equinox starts fine most of the time, but when I make a quick stop before its fully warmed up I have to slightly depress the accelerator to get it to start. Now I know with fuel injection this should't be happening but its been the case almost since the day I bought it. GM changed out the software in the computer and that seemed to work for a while, at least long enough for the warranty to end. It doesn't bother me but my wife wants the car now. What's up?
