Camry :: Loud Squeaking Sound Coming From Front Of Engine On Cold Start
I've a loud squeaking sound coming from the front of the engine on cold start. This only happens when I start the engine after overnight parking . There are no squeaks when the engine is warmed up or when I start up with a warm engine.
I'm driving an 07 Camry and live in a region with hot tropical weather.

What could be the probable cause of the this and how do I rectify it?
Camry :: Sputtering Noise Come From Engine But Only After A Cold Start?
What would cause a sputtering noise to come from the engine but only after a cold start meaning starting in the morning and after work but goes away after I drive for a min or two and doesn't come back until the next morning or after work. It sounds almost as if say you had a hole in your flange and drove it around. Its really weird it happens a few times a week for the psst 2 weeks but hasn't happens ever before that. Could it be the water pump in its way out? Oil levels fine fluid wise everything topped off.

I have the cold start up noise on my 2AZ-FE Camry. It is from the VVT gear.
I have found the Solenoid on the back side of the engine but can't locate the bolt that has the screen inside it.
Where the VVT oil screen is located on this engine?
Camry :: 2010 - Engine Lifter Ticking Noise On Cold Start Until Warm
I just punches a 2010 Camry 4 cylinder with 44,646 miles. Very clean. I've owned 2 camrys in the past a 97 and 2002 that both reached well over 200,00 miles without a hint of trouble. Well, when I start the 2010 when its cold like from overnight it sounds like the lifter are ticking?, it lasts until the engine is warm and then I don't hear it. It still has the 2 month 3000 mile warranty from the dealer. I just don't seem to remember our other Toyota sounding that way.
View 14 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2007 - Whirring / Bearing Type Noise On First Start Up When Cold And Truck Sits Overnight
Ok, so my 2007 F150 Lariat super crew cab has been at the dealership for a week now with them claiming that a part is on back order. How hard is it for them to get in a right front axle?? Granted, it was in there for other stuff too (which they can not give me a straight answer on if they fixed or not cause they are claiming the technician hasn't done the write up on it yet). My main concern is that they are screwing me around or that something happened to my truck. I am planning on stopping by there on Wed. morning after I get out of work.
Are these trucks known for bad front axles or was there some kind of a big recall on them?
Other things it went in for was the radio having the CD's cycle through when you first start up the truck, but does not happen like that all the time. Black plastic driver side front door hinge is cracked exposing the metal reinforcing part. Whirring/bearing type noise when you first start up the truck when it is cold and sits overnight (which they claim they can't hear yet waited to bring the truck inside and check it out at 3PM when they had the truck overnight from the night before when I dropped it off.) and the front driveshaft not fully disengaging when the truck is in 2wd. Almost seems like the vacuum locking hubs are still engaged.
Camry :: Engine Making Noise Seems Like Belt Pulley Bearing Is Going Out
I have a 2009 Camry 5spd with 92K miles on it. Camry is completely stock and original with meticulous services to engine oil and drained the transmission fluid at 68K miles. I am hearing an engine hum every now and then (although I notice it more often now that I am searching for it) while I am idling. I don't believe it to be engine vibration, rather it is a hum, seems like a belt pulley bearing is going out, or even, and i hope its not, like my throw out bearing in the clutch is going bad.
Only reason I say that is because it makes the hum for a few seconds then goes away, then comes back for a bit. It makes the hum when i have the clutch engaged and when i have the clutch disengaged and a in neutral. I have opened the hood to try and search from where it is coming from but it is just too darn hard to figure out.
I am hoping it is nothing related to my transmission. I may pull the fill plug on it this weekend and try to stick my finger inside to see if I am low on fluids and it is making a hum (but I highly doubt it because when I filled it up after drain i filled it too the top). I haven't experienced any burning of oil and use 5W-20 (Castrol GTX since day 1). I may switch fluids on my next change and use maybe a different brand and viscosity (maybe use standard Quaker state at 5W-30).
Again it isn't an engine vibration, rather just a hum or almost like a stinking wobble and then goes away for a few seconds. I say wobble kind of like you would hear a drive shaft on a truck that wasn't balance properly and was spinning without being centred with counter weights.
Camry :: 2005 SE 2AZ-FE Noise On Cold Start Up
2005 Camry SE 2AZ-FE 4cyl 5 speed manual bought new well maintained 119000 miles. Makes a funny noise on cold start up when temp is below about 20 deg f just the first start up of the day. The noise sounds like a ZIP and is just for a second or 2 at the most. I can feel it in the steering wheel like a high frequency vibration. Seems like it's doing it at not quite as cold a temp but has been doing this since the first winter I bought the car new.
Hard to isolate without a second person standing out there in the cold, definitely coming from under the hood. I'm thinking it could be the idler pulley. Serpentine belt is original but has no cracks and is properly tensioned. Since it's done this since day one I'm hesitant to start pulling things apart. Car runs great aside from that. Mobil Super High Mileage oil 4,000 mi change interval, Toyota Filter always. The noise is just after the engine initially fires not starter related in my opinion.
Camry :: 2010 - Noise At Cold Start
My 2010 Camry SE 4cyl started a cold/dry starting at 33K miles. Took to the dealer in Feb 2011 and they performed the TSB below:
2010 Toyota Camry Engine And Engine Cooling Service Bulletin 59978
NHTSA: Action Number: 10034924 Service Bulletin Number: 59978
Report Date:
Jun 09, 2010
Component:
Engine And Engine Cooling
Summary: Toyota: brief engine knock/rattle noise cold startup. Immediately following a cold soak startup, some model vehicles equipped with the 1ar-fe and 2ar-fe engines may exhibit a brief knock/rattle noise from the engine compartment for approx 10 seconds.
Then 3 months later ( July 2011 ) same problem....Dealer preformed same TSB and one day later..........Same problem............
My car has been out of service for 28 days this year.
Camry :: 04 XLE Engine Rattle At First Cold Start Of The Day
Just bought a used 04 XLE Camry for daughter--60K miles. 4 cylinder engine. Engine sounded great when test drove. She has had it for 2 weeks, the engine now rattles badly upon first cold start of the day. Clears up almost immediately (maybe 3-4 seconds). Shut down and restart-no problem--only when cold (or has been sitting for more than a couple of hrs.) I'm thinking it is the valve lifters out of oil, but don't know. And what was the repair?(engine oil was just changed(Synth blend--5W-30Wt.))

View 1 RepliesCamry :: 2005 4 Cyl - Rattle Noise Right At Start Up On Cold Mornings
I bought a 2005 Camry about 3 months ago. It has the 2.4l 4 cyl with about 139k miles. The car seems to run perfect, but it has a rattle noise right at start up on cold mornings. It only lasts for the initial 1/2 second start up, then it's gone. I'm thinking it's probably just a heat shield rattle or something, I just did a full synthetic high mileage oil change on it and that didn't work, so that just makes me lean more towards heat shield.
View 14 RepliesCamry :: 2010 RAV4 2.5L - Grinding Noise At Cold Start
I recently had TSB 0146-10 ( grinding noise at cold start ) performed and my cold starts are even louder now. My dealer screwed it up 2 times and I have to return again due to this noise, leaking valve covers, and lots of metal filings found in oil and filter? It seems to me Toyota has a big issue with the VVT cam gear on this engine and wanted to post a video of my cold start?
My vehicle is a 2010 RAV4 with the 2AR-FE ( 2.5 ltr ).
This is after 2 cam gear replacements and the dealer confirmed this to be the sound of a bad VVT gear.

Camry :: 2011 - Rattle Noise For A Second Or So On A Cold Start When Sits Overnight
I just bought 2011 Camry 2.5 6auto with 57k miles on it. The car make a rattle noise for a second or so on a cold start when sets overnight. I took it to the dealer yesterday and they replaced the timing gear assembly under warranty. This morning when I started the car in the morning it made the same rattle noise. I am going to take it back to the dealer next week.
My question is has any one had this rattle noise? if so, did the noise go away after the dealer replaced the cam gear? Also, Do you think this rattle will affect the engine in the long term?
Camry :: 2005 SE - Strange Noise When Engine Is Cold?
I drive a 2005 Camry SE. In the mornings, when I start it up for the first time, my engine almost...growls. That's the only word I can think of. Not even growl. But instead of purring like a kitten, it purrs like a tiger . And it's only when I first back it out and then take off. Once it's good and warmed up, it drives and sounds perfectly. Shifts beautifully.
And this morning, I let it warm up for awhile and it didn't make any noise when I took off.
I talked to my coworker about it and she said she had a similar issue with her 2004 Saturn Vue and it was something about a manifold, but couldn't remember what it was called. And she said her mechanic was able to fix it, but only temporarily and then told her it would cost her big bucks to fix it permanently.
Camry :: 2009 SE Cold Start Up - Engine Stalls A Bit And Then RPM Raises Upto 2
I have a cold start problem with my camry. The engine has clocked 100k now. When ever i start the car in cold weather; it never starts for the first time. The second time when i start it, the engine stalls a bit and then the rpm raises upto 2. Also the rpm when the engine is cold remains less then 1.5.

View 7 RepliesPassat (B6) :: FSI Engine Chirp Noise When Start The Car And Engine Is Cold
I have a 2008 FSI engine and I have a chirping noise when I start the car and the engine is cold. The noise goes away when the engine is warmed up. This noise has been like this for a very long time (more than two years) and I was not seriously concerned about this until I found the below video which has exactly the same noise.
The owner in the below video says that the timing belt and the belt tensioner had to be replaced and that his engine was only at 26K miles. I am at 46K miles right now but I definitely had this noise when I was around 20K miles as well.

Camry :: 2008 V6 Making Noise When First Driving And Engine Is Cold
My 2008 Camry V6 has a noise that happens when I first start driving forward right after the transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd gear, from inside the car it sounds like it's coming from the engine compartment on the driver side. I've figured out that the noise happens only when the engine is completely cooled down and it happens only once until the engine is cooled down again. It doesn't do it when in reverse, however if I reverse first it will still occur when I start pulling forward and the transmission shifts.
I brought my car into the Toyota dealer and they say that they don't hear anything wrong. They ended up replacing an axle because a boot was torn so I was hoping that it would end up fixing the issue but it made the noise right away when I picked up the car.
I have a video of the noise happening... turn your sound up and you'll hear it right at the 0:14 second mark of the video: [URL] ....
I have literally 89 miles left on my extended warranty so I really need to get this fixed. Back to Toyota...
