Camry :: 2003 KE - Whistling Sound From Engine Compartment At Acceleration After 2500 Rpms
I have an 03 Camry LE with 80,000 miles I do all the maintenance myself it has had the alternator replaced once at around 40,000 miles. The problem that just started is a whistling sound that ONLY is audible after 2500 rpm at acceleration. When the car is in park no matter how much I revive the engine I can not get it to make the whistle sound it ONLY can be heard at acceleration after 2500 rpms.
Also once I cease to accelerate it goes away while I'm driving there is NO Whistling. I've read that it could be the alternator so I had it checked twice on the car and it checked out good it passed all tests. I've removed the belt and spun the pulley to listen for bad bearing but to me sounded fine. I've removed the throttle body boot and checked for cracks an found nothing also cleaned throttle body (not that it needed it) while I had it off.
Also checked air box and nothing. The only thing I've done recently was take out cabin air filter to clean and replaced it but there was no problem with that. What's puzzling is that it ONLY occurs at acceleration after 2500 rpms then stops after acceleration.
Camry :: 2007 SE V6 - Metallic Twirling Sound When Engine Idling
I am the original owner of a 2007 Camry SE V6 with 95K miles. The car has been meticulously maintained. About 2 weeks ago I started to notice a mysterious sound coming from the passenger side of the engine ONLY when the engine is idling. It has a higher, light pitch but when revving the engine slightly it goes away. Obviously when driving it can not be heard with all the other road noise etc. Also it makes this sound at different times, sometimes days with no noise, very irregularly. I checked that section of the engine bay and see no moisture, leakage or discoloration anywhere. Also serpentine belt shows no wear or wobble. Could it come from the water pump? I am very concerned that something will soon snap off, break and leave me stranded.
View 6 RepliesCamry :: 2007 V6 - Ticking / Knocking Sound When Engine Is Cold
When the engine of my 2007 Camry LE V6 is cold, it makes a ticking/knocking sound. The engine has 100,000 kms on it (60k miles). The frequency of the sound varies with the speed of the engine, not with the speed of the car.
When engine is cold: The sound happens roughly twice a second when the engine idles (at 700-800 rpm).
When engine is warm: The noise is less audible. It can be heard when idled at a stop, but you have to listen for it. The noise cannot be heard on the highway.
The car doesn't burn oil, and the oil level is ok. I had the oil changed 3000 kms ago, and it is still very clean (clear). The was the same before and after the oil change.
I am wondering if it could be the lifters, bad plug, or maybe a timing issue.
Camry :: Toyota 2007 Banging / Grunting Sound When Starting Engine
I've a 2007 Toyota Camry (LE 2.4 L 4-cylinder). Couple of days ago I tried to start the car and I heard this banging/grunting sound as I started the car. And, after the car started the engine is running much louder. Oddly enough when I got out of the car and opened the hood the noise didn't seem that loud. In other words, it sounds louder from inside the car than standing outside with the hood open.
Before all this, the engine ran very smoothly and very quite. Here is a link for two audio files that captures the sounds. Note that I recorded these two clips from inside the car.
First when is when I'm starting the engine (the sound can be heard at around 6-7 seconds): [URL] ....
Second is when the engine is running loud (I'm not driving the car...just sitting there letting the engine run): [URL] ....
Accent LC (2000-05) :: 2000 - Misfiring Upon Acceleration And Engine Revving
I have a 2000 accent. Automatic tranny with 167000 miles. My current problem is the car is misfiring upon acceleration and engine revving. I have to accelerate very slowly to minimize this but i once the engine revs up enough I can give it more gas and it will rev normally with plenty of power. I have had to unplug the maf to keep it driveable. Ive never had a car stay running after disconnecting the maf so this is strange to me. My accent barely stays running with the maf connected. I just got the car from my dad and he had it fixed and it ran good for awhile with the maf connected so I don't think it is the maf. But the same problem came about and we had to disconnect the maf again. And he cant remember or is not sure what was exactly fixed on the car. I've read up about the purge control valve and havent had a chance to check it out but some of the symptoms fit.
View 21 RepliesCamry :: Whirring Sound Upon Acceleration
I recently took my 05 camry 3.0 v6 110k mi in for a tune up and timing belt service. When I got my car back it was making a whirring sound upon acceleration. The sound is only there at idle and the start of acceleration, it goes away (or I can't hear it) once I get up to around 2k rpm. Also, I noticed that the car felt like it was missing under light acceleration. It was most noticeable with the car on cruise control and going up a slight grade on the interstate. It would just feel like the power was cut off for a split second.
So I took the car back in. Not sure what was done to it because I was out of town but it was returned to me still making the whirring noise but the missing feeling seems to be mostly resolved. I can't say for sure but it felt like it missed a few times after I got it back but nothing like it was before.
My car was perfect before the service/tune up. From searching around all I could come up with was that maybe the timing belt needs to break in or might be too tight or loose .
Here is a list of what all was replaced
Alternator belt
A/C belt
Power steering belt
Timing component kit
Water pump
Spark Plugs & spark plug boots
PCV valve
Intake manifold gasket
Accent LC (2000-05) :: 2003 - Rattle Sound On Acceleration / Load
My '03 gives a rattle sound under load/acceleration conditions. This does not happen during the warm up period, so it appears that the engine runs lean under acceleration. There is no check engine light on for this. Approx 172k KM, (100k miles). The noise appears worse when it is hot/humid outside. I have run a can of Seafoam through it (half in the crankcase, half in the fuel line), and that doesn't seem to have worked. Therefore, I don't think that it is the injectors. Possibly fuel filter (still original)? Any easy way to test?
View 8 RepliesCamry :: 2007 SE 4 Cyl - Car Seems To Lag Under Hard Acceleration
I have a 2007 Camry SE 4 cyl. Sometimes under hard acceleration the car seems to lag. I have about 64K miles on the car.
When is it recommended to have a spark plug replacement? Will a tune-up work to liven up the car a little better?
Camry :: 2007 LE V6 - Vibration During Acceleration
I have an 07 LE V6 with 76,000 miles. I am lowered on coilovers and have 20 inch wheels. so i have a small vibration while normal acceleration between 10-20 mph once i go past 20 mph it goes away. If I am accelerating heavy I feel the front vibrating all the way up until i let go of the gas. i can feel the pedal and steering wheel a lot and the whole car vibrates kinda hard.
I got new tires and replaced the pass side axle already. at first i thought it was the axle since the boot was leaking and i heard the clicking noise. I've even tried putting my stock wheels back on n i still feel it. I am going to lift the car up and try to find whats going on and what to look for under the car.

View 3 RepliesCamry :: 2007 SE V6 - Noise Heard Under Moderate To Hard Acceleration
I have a 2007 Camry SE V6. Under moderate to hard acceleration, it sounds like a deep throaty sound coming from where the intake/throttle body is located, almost as if I have a SRI, but I do not. I checked for anything loose, hoses, airbox, etc. Then checked the intake resonator below and to the left of the battery, all seemed normal. Everything seems normal! Only happens when I push the accelerator a little more than usual, for example, when I go on the highway.
View 6 RepliesAcceleration - Nissan :: 1981 - Engine Started Looping After 2000 RPM
1981 Datsun 280ZX 5spd manual L28 IL6 SOC. maintenance history unknown. Today after a short drive and a bath the engine started looping after 2000 rpm. The car idles fine while sitting but as soon as you push the gas the engine revs to 2k and then decelerates then back up to 2k then back down. The car does this with no hesitation until you take you foot off the gas then idles normal again. Could this be a sensor issue? If so which one? The car didn't start the problem until i bathed the engine area.

I have a 2009 Sante Fe, it has about 96000KM on it. It is a 3.3 engine AWD.
I find that when I accelerate the thing kind of feels rough. It is very subtle. Like you can almost miss it if I wasn't being so picky. But I can definitely feel something there. What this would be.
Lexus ES 2007-12 :: Engine Cuts Out During Acceleration?
I have an '07 with 122k miles. There is an issue with the car when I attempt moderate to hard acceleration. I have observed the following behaviors:If I hit the gas hard, the engine will suddenly cut out, almost as if it hit the rev limiter or VSC has kicked in. The engine does not die, it just appears to go back to idle. It is not a miss or stumble. It is a full loss of engine power. If I keep my foot on the gas, it will kick in and out, sometimes so suddenly that it will chirp the tires when it re-engages. It will do this until I let off the gas and accelerate more slowly. It seems to happen when the car starts to pull hard over 3k rpm.
It can happen in any gear, as I have tried playing with keeping it in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, and have observed the same behavior when I hit the gas hard. It is not pedal position dependent, as I have observed this at anywhere between half throttle and wide open. There are no lights when this occurs. I have held it in this state for almost 20 seconds at times, trying to get a CEL, but nothing happens. I have hooked up a TIS tech stream monitor, and there are no problems recorded. The car runs and idles perfectly aside from this problem. If I accelerate normally, it will run just fine. It almost seems like a fuel delivery problem. Could the pump be suspect, not allowing enough fuel during high demand?
Camry 2012+ :: V6 Whine Coming From Engine Bay During Acceleration
I recently noticed a very noticeable whine coming from the engine bay during acceleration. It is especially noticeable when accelerating hard to about 4000 rpm and then letting off the gas completely. The pitch changes with RPMs as it spins down. It literally sounds like a super charger spooling up. The car only has 4000 miles and seems to have been doing it since new.
View 14 RepliesCamry :: 2005 SE V6 Engine Stumble On Hard Acceleration
I just bought an 05' SE V6, with the 3.3 engine. Seemed to run good, had it checked by shop and they said it was a good buy, so i bought it. First day I owned it, took it to toyota dealership and had them do a 90, 000 mi service. did a timing belt, water pump, tranny flush, oil change. I got the car back, and it ran like crap! It would stumble on hard acceleration, and seem to even surge a bit at times. I took it right back? Service rep tried to say I put in diesel or bad gas. I only filled up with chevron premium, which is only gas i ever use. I know how to put gas in my tank!
Any how, they checked timing belt and said it was right, but the timing gear needed to be changed because one tooth looked rounded off. That didn't work either, still stumbled on acceleration, but idled perfect @ 675 rpms. So now the serv. manager gets involved, says he wants me satisfied. they then drained all my gas, then re-fill it. then flushed out all injectors. then put in all new plugs and PCV valve. I did a pressure test of fuel system, said it was good. While they were changing the plugs, they did a complete 6 cylinder compression test and scope analysis, and it came back good, too! I pick it up cause i got to go back. It ran a lot better but still stumbles on hard acceleration on highway. drove 1250 miles back, didn't use a drop of oil.
I did notice when I got 100 miles the temp gauge dropped all the way down to second mark on cold for a little bit, but went back to normal temp and stayed there through the last 1100 miles(that scared me, so i watched temp gauge like a hawk). And the outside temp was @ 62 degrees when the temp dropped at 1200 ft. Elevation...maybe it got stuck and is ok? My CEL has never came on through all this, and it does work, I have made sure of that.
I bought this car from original owner, and they had engine and heads just replaced in 2008 at 44,000 miles at toyota dealership under warranty fot 10,000 dollars. i verified this with that dealership 3 times with 3 different reps at that dealership. old owner said he was having problems with engine stumbling, and took it in twice and dealership said it was ok each time, not throwing any codes and sent him away saying car was ok.
Camry :: 2002 2.4L - Engine Rattling Noise On Acceleration
My Camry has about 338K miles. Started making an engine rattling noise on acceleration. suspected worn timing components. I have all timing components off now. Of course plastic chain guides are worn, tensioner plunger seemed to be a little rough in actuation, exhaust cam sprocket does show signs of wear. I dont know for certain that replacing all timing components will clear noise. Questions are: considering mileage should i just replace all the timing components or the likely cause of the rattle noise(whatever that may be)? Should i replace the oil pump while i have pan off? How much trouble would it be to pull head and do valve job at this point? Lastly....2002 Camry has the 2.4 VVTI with the intake cam sprocket. How do i replace this sprocket and is it difficult?
View 14 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: 2013 VW - Screeching Sound On Cold Start And Engine Acceleration
To get straight to the point: I have a 2013 GTI that has recently started making a screeching noise on cold starts and during engine acceleration (not necessarily heavy load, but actual engine speed acceleration).
I recorded a video of it this morning and it is very easy to discern the sound. The car is APR stage 1 tuned and has a south bend clutch but I don't think either of those are related to the sound. The water pump has been replaced from the service bulletin, the auxiliary belt tensioner has been replaced because it started to make a noise (this noise is completely different). Otherwise the car has never given me an issue, it has been maintained exactly per the OEM repair schedule other then oil changes every 5k miles vs. 10k. I use mobil 1 0W-40 oil.
