Camry :: 2006 - Humming Sound When Put The Car Into Gear
I have an 06 4-cylinder Camry LE. I recently had the belt tensioner, idler bearing, and water pump replaced under warranty. I originally went in to have it looked at because it was making a rattling/humming sound when I put it into gear, but would go away for the most part after running down the road for awhile. The other day, I had to back up to the house (on an incline) and it started making that same noise, but louder. For the most part, it goes away after driving, but I can still feel that humming vibration in the gas pedal however. I took it into the dealer and had them inspect it again. I was told that it is nothing to be concerned about. The computer was checked and came back clean. It was stated in my invoice as the following:
"Due to prolonged disconnect of the battery during previous repair. The engine needs to relearn all it's preset values. This condition is not a problem."
I have stumbled across others stating a possible valve issue, along with "you need to replace the water pump," which I already did.
Camry :: 2006 - Sound Like A Hole In The Exhaust At Higher Speed
I have a 2006 Camry (manual transmission) w 165K miles.
Within the last year or so, it has gotten louder, more noticeable at higher speeds. Almost sounds like a hole in the exhaust. However, shifting into lower or higher gears doesn't change the tone of the noise. Taking it out of gear completely doesn't have an effect. However driving faster does. So I'm pretty sure it is drive train related .
Does this sound like a wheel bearing issue?
Toyota - Camry :: 2006 - Gurgling Sound Intermittently When Apply The Brakes
Intermittently, when I apply the brakes my car makes a wet, gurgling sound, as if I'm driving over wet rocks. My husband jacked up the car and said he sees something on the front axle CV on the right side, not on left, and said it looks like a bushing bearing. He said the brakes have zero grit and he let them spin under power (I'm relating what he told me as best I can, he's mechanical, I am not). I also have a rack and pinion leak, though small, he's worried about the hydroloic (sp?) assist going out. I can't say I know what any of this means, but he can't figure out why my car occasionally makes this terrible sound. I haven't noted any specific condition for the noise.
View 4 RepliesCamry - Transmissions :: 1995 - Clinking Sound From Front End / Camry Won't Move
My fiancee has a 1995 Toyota Camry that she uses as her work vehicle and yesterday the car started making a clinking noise from the front that I thought was a broken CV but after going to 2 mechanics we were told it was something with the transmission but neither mechanic did trannys so they wouldn't go any farther into it. When put into gear it there was a loud clinking sound that sounded like it was coming from the front driver side wheel and the car wouldn't move. Before spending the money and bringing it to the only transmission specialist in town I figured I would try here first because I have learned specialist usually means more money, especially when your the only specialist in town. Is there any common issues with transmissions that would cause a clinking or metal on metal sound?

Sound is coming from the back wheels i believe. Iv been driving with winter tires on since last year December. I only hear it when im going over 60km/h on a curve on highway.
View 1 RepliesCamry :: Tapping Sound When Going Over Bumps
Every time I go over a bump I hear a tap. It comes from both sides, on the left it feels like it's coming from the wheel well area.
I hear it going over speed bumps, usually those wide and gentle ones, but not small and sharp bumps that jar the entire car.
I associate it with that instant when the suspension gets unloaded, i.e. going over a smooth bump I'd hear it around the time the bump slopes down and the suspension gets unloaded for an instant.
I have new Quickstruts with retrofitted oem springs. The ride height is normal. New swaybar bushings and no apparent play when the car is on the lift. Also, the car is in near perfect alignment, did it a couple of days ago.
So...what is the likely culprit. Sway bar links perhaps? They do have ball-joint like ends, perhaps these are worn. Could it be that they appear solid on a lift because they are under load at that time?
Camry :: 07 - Hissing Sound Coming Out From Under The Car
I noticed a hissing sound coming out from under the car. It's more audible closer to the rear of the car as if air is escaping through a hole. Tires are good and not loosing air. When the fans turn on the hissing sound goes away momentarily and comes back. What could this be?

View 5 RepliesCamry :: Whirring Sound Upon Acceleration
I recently took my 05 camry 3.0 v6 110k mi in for a tune up and timing belt service. When I got my car back it was making a whirring sound upon acceleration. The sound is only there at idle and the start of acceleration, it goes away (or I can't hear it) once I get up to around 2k rpm. Also, I noticed that the car felt like it was missing under light acceleration. It was most noticeable with the car on cruise control and going up a slight grade on the interstate. It would just feel like the power was cut off for a split second.
So I took the car back in. Not sure what was done to it because I was out of town but it was returned to me still making the whirring noise but the missing feeling seems to be mostly resolved. I can't say for sure but it felt like it missed a few times after I got it back but nothing like it was before.
My car was perfect before the service/tune up. From searching around all I could come up with was that maybe the timing belt needs to break in or might be too tight or loose .
Here is a list of what all was replaced
Alternator belt
A/C belt
Power steering belt
Timing component kit
Water pump
Spark Plugs & spark plug boots
PCV valve
Intake manifold gasket

It seems that many 2012/2013 Camry owner with sunroof has popping sound issue. Based on reading threads that are already out there it either happens right away or after 10,000+ miles of ownership when outdoor temp gets cold or driving over a bump. What is not clear is, too me, if this issue happens to majority of Camry owner with sunroof or minority. I for one own a 2013 Camry with sunroof with almost 3000 miles on it but I do not have this issue. Was wondering if Camry owner with sunroof can chime here whether or you have this issue and how many miles you have on the vehicle. What percentage of Camry with sunroof are having this issue.
View 14 RepliesCamry :: Tapping Sound From The Front End Going Over Some Bumps
Ever since I had Quickstruts installed on the front I have been getting a tapping sound going over the bumps and such. I think it happens when going over something combined with the steering input, such as pulling out of a parking lot onto the main road. If I just go over a bump with wheels straight, no sound.
Can't replicate the noise by rocking the front end by hand.
The sway links appear tight, no vertical movement. I have a reman rack and pinion since last year along with new outer tie rods. Sway bar bushings maybe?

Camry :: 2011 LE - Rattling Sound Comes On And Off From Both B-pillars
I have a 2 month old 2011 Camry LE. Really disappointed by the quality of interiors. A rattling sound comes on and off from both the B-pillars as if something is lying loose in pillar. Have tried pulling both seat belts to the max multiple times, adjusting seat belt heights but all in vain.

I've been trying to track down this clunking sound, its only really happening when I am going at about 30-40mph speeding up or slowing down in that vicinity..
Its a light clunk clunk sound that seems to be coming from the front left of my car...
It cant be the struts, because I've just put new ones in a few months ago... What could it be? some sort of CV joint or bushing?

View 3 RepliesCamry :: Knocking Sound Occurs As Accelerate
I have a 2007 XLE-V6, bought new 10/2006, 39,500mi., and recently I had the issue of the bursting oil line that others have been having. Prior to that happening, I have been hearing a noise from the engine since the beginning of December. The noise is a ticking sound/knocking sound that occurs as I accelerate in 1,2, and 3rd gear on cold starts. This noise persists up until the time the engine reaches its ideal operating temperature, and then it just goes away.
The engine "expert" at my local dealership drove in it with me, and it only happens when the vehicle is in drive, not when idling or in reverse, so it has to be in the drivetrain somewhere. He said it shouldn't be a problem, since it does go away, but it's infuriating to hear it every morning and afternoon when I start my car.
