Avalon 2005-12 :: 2006 - Loud / Roaring HVAC Fan Motor
The fan motor has a loud, low drone to it. I assume it is bad bearing "whir." It seems the fan is directly behind the left side of the glove box.

I've got a 2008 Avalon with about 136,000 miles on it. Lately the hvac fan has been making a slight ticking sound that increases/decreases with the change in fan speed on the ac/heater setting. The other week it just didn't work all together until I tapped it lightly and it started back up. The ticking is starting to get worse.
I'm thinking of replacing this myself as the dealership wants about 400 for this and I can get a replacement fan assembly for about 120 online. Do I just remove the glove box and crawl in the passenger floor board area to do this or am I looking at some dash removal?
Avalon 2005-12 :: 2007 Touring - Flashing Front Window Defrost Button / HVAC System Frozen
Experienced the problem of a flashing defrost button and the entire HVAC system "frozen"? All the other buttons become useless while the defrost button is flashing on and off. If I then hold either the a/c button or the auto button, the system starts up at 75 degrees with the air running. I can then adjust to where I want it to be.

I noticed when i swap to 4 hi. The AC defaults to defrost. I have read this is a possible vacuum leak. Well after driving for about a mile the AC goes back to vents " while still in 4 hi" does this mean my hubs are sticking and finally engaging? Or still probably have a vacuum leak?

Whenever I hit auto on the climatronic after the car has been off it always defaults to 72 degrees. I'm in South Florida, and I realize it's a little thing, but it'd be great if I could make it default to low right off the bat. Is this something Vag-com could be used to alter? I have one minor complaint with my A/C system. I always run it in recirc mode, but the Touareg A/C system always places it in auto-recirc, so I always have to press the recirc button everytime I start the car. Is there a way to keep the car in recirc mode between starts?

I've had my T-reg for almost a year with no problems....until now. I recently bought another car with a tire pressure monitoring system. When I park the two cars close together the TPM on my T-reg picks up signals from the other car, gets confused and (apparently) resets all programs (lights, locks...everything) to factory defaults. I took it to the dealer for this problem twice and they are clueless.

I just noticed yesterday that if I don't have A/C on and I select RECIRC, the RECIRC light goes out after 5 minutes, regardless of vent position. I "think" it also does this with A/C on unless I select MAX A/C.
None of my previous cars acted this way, and I don't see anything in the OM about it, other than to not use RECIRC for extended periods of time (which to me would be more than an hour).
It isn't a huge deal as I can just hit the switch again, but it is mildly annoying.
Ford Ranger / B-Series :: 1999 - No Max A/C - Recirc Does Not Work
Any schematic of the vacuum lines for a 99 Ranger with the 2.5 motor? I don't mean the general overview decal under the hood, but rather one that specifically includes the HVAC lines. I have two problems... one being that I have no MAX A/C (recirc does not work) and the other being that the vac line is busted off the heater core isolation valve and I can't find the other end of it (the end that supplies vacuum to open the valve).

It's starting to become A/C seasons down here and since my truck was new back in October I've not used it much.
When I hit the button to turn on the air conditioning the hvac system likes to enable recirc automatically. This really irritates me. I don't like when my machines do things on their own, assuming that I wanted the recirc on. Presumption is prob my worst pet peeve.
I don't ever have the system on auto, I don't ever use the system in any "auto" way. I set my preferred temp and select where I want the air to flow. If it's too warm I hit the A/C button. Why does the recirc come on by itself? How do I make it stop doing this? The 2011 truck I had never did this.

I recently bought a 2005 Toyota Avalon Xls with 90k miles on it. The car has been averaging a very disappointing mpg of 11-12 in the city and around 17 on the highway. (much lower than the advertised 22/30 mpg)
At first i thought the mpg gauge could be malfunctioning, so i calculated it myself and ended up with same result: 11 mpg in the city. I haven't taken it to a mechanic yet, but plan on doing so ASAP. What could be causing this issue.
Avalon 2005-12 :: VSC Warning Light On
I have a 2011 Avalon Limited, and recently the VSC warning light came on (and is still on). Following some of the advice on accessing codes (like jumping ports on the OBD2 plug) I ended up getting codes that said my #7 cylinder had intake issues. Funny...I don't recall seeing a V8 under my hood.
I am hesitant to take the car to the local Toyota mega-dealership because of the excessive amount wanted to simply read the codes. How I might either access codes for the 2011 or even how to clear the light in order to see if it returns or not.

During a trip South last summer my A/C would -occasionally, after hours & hours of running- begin to pump out hot air.
Not warm, muggy, outside air, but HOT air. Then, if you shut it off for a few minutes, you can turn it back on & it works normally.
I forgot all about it, since it only happened twice, once late at night, once midday.
Today, a friend, who was on that trip said he came across a something in newspaper about a fix for this, but now can't find it.
Avalon 2005-12 :: Transmission Pan Removal
I am getting ready to drop the transmission pan on my 2006 Avalon XL, clean the pan and magnets, replace the transmission filter and gasket, and refil with WS fluid. How to remove the three or so bolts on the transmission pan that are blocked by the subframe connector (or whatever is blocking the bolts)? I plan on buying a 10mm ratcheting box end wrench in order to perform the job. Is there anything else that I need to be aware of when doing this?

I just changed the ATF fluid and filter on a 2006 Avalon. I added a little over 4 quarts, maybe 4.1 quarts. How to check it if there is the proper ATF amount. There are 4 notches on the transmission dip stick. Do I leave it running or not. How do I check it??!

I know this is trivial, but the manual says that to get all 4 doors to open with one click on the FOB instead of twice, you need to take it to the dealer. I recently got an 05' XLS with the key FOB, and a key for the ignition. How to change the door unlock mechanism to unlock all 4 doors with one click.
