Menopause :: Dizziness / Off Balance / Benign Positional Vertigo

Went to dr last Thursday, he always maintains that my dizziness/off balance problem is due to anxiety. I told the dr I have been speaking to others on this forum who have similar symptoms and problems with their balance and it has to be recognised as part of meno.

After a good chat with the GP, he read through my blood tests which were done in July this year, he said that my estrogen was so low that he would consider me now menopausal, estrogen was less than 70 (whatever that means) fsh 76.

Anyway, he said that the menopause sometimes causes some women to develop benign positional vertigo and that it should settle with time. He said normally by the age of 55 things would be better....I'm only 51, will be 52 in Feb don't think I could suffer this for a long period

Dr had taken more bloods as I asked for progesterone to be checked as well as estrogen

I've made another appointment to discuss the results but another dr told me briefly over the phone that the estrogen and progesterone have both came back low even though I've been taking livial HRT for 3 months.

I went on the internet last night browsing looking at hormone levels and was redirected to another website as I typed in dizziness and OMG I've been in such a state since

I'm wondering if any of you ladies can help if you Google MdDS, it's a balance condition and please tell me that my balance problems will be hormone related

I'm staggering around today balance terrible and feel woozy just unbalanced.

Vertigo / Dizziness :: Stroke - Vestibular Neuritis - Deafness And Balance Problems

I had a stroke in cochlea vestibular nerve August 2013 causing me total deafness in left ear and balance problems. Doctors cannot tell me why it happened.  I had rehab, went home felt ok but reality hit when I started to resume the normal activities of life.  Live with continual pressure in head, finding difficult in shopping centres, moving my head or turning quickly .I have had mri's, infrared video goggles, test for BPPV - do not have that - thank goodness.  Find Difficult travelling in car, going over bumps.  I can still drive. I still work as my job is sitting mainly.  The most difficult thing is,  as I look well my family do not take my condition seriously and I am really struggling with that and have bouts of depression and stress and anxiety make my head much worse..

Anxiety :: Switching From Xanax To Klonopin

I am considering switching from xanax to klonopin for my anxiety panic attacks. Xanax is only effective for a short amount of time and I feel like I may be acquiring a tolerance or addiction. Anyone have any input on klonopin ? Is it a better choice ?

Anti Anxiety Drugs :: Switching From Lorazepam To Xanax

I’ve been on Lorazepam for my anxiety attacks for about half a year now and I’m also on fluoxetine. Lorazepam does help to ease my anxiety enough so I can function fairly normally from day to day, but I still do get occasional anxiety and panic attacks where even Lorazepam barely helps.

I’ve been reading a bit about this and came across info that Xanax is more effective than Lorazepam in fighting anxiety attacks, is this true?

How To Come Off The Diazepam?

I have been on diazepam 8 - 10 mg per day for over 10 years. I have been told that I have sleep apnea and I have to gradually stop the diazepam as it could have caused sleep apnea or be contributing to it. I am also on 40 mg per day of citalopram. I have a long history with social anxiety.

I work in a school and am supposed to be going back tomorrow but I just do not feel as though I could cope without my medication. I told my boss and have not received any support at all!

Is there anyone out there that knows how hard this will be to come off the Diazepam? Is there anyone that has been on it for as long as I have?

Dizzy And Off Balance With Vitamin D Deficiency?

I am 29 year old female and for the past 2 years I have been feeling off balance and sometime dizzy, but mostly off balance.

I have went too 2 different Neurologist, A E.N.T, and A Cardiologist. I have endless blood work, A CT of the brain, and a MRI of the brain. Everything was always NORMAL! Once I was anemic and my b12 was low which is normal now.

This past weekend I was dizzy, and I got scared, I went to the ER which was nothing but a waste of time, they just told me sometimes people get dizzy and that's all.

I went to a doctor I had seen before but not alot she had looked at the blood test that one of the Neurologist had order and found out I was anemic and had a b12 deficiency and re-order blood work so she knew I had been having this problem for quite some time.

I went and did my blood work the next day she called me and told me that everything was back but my VIT-D but everything was ok, she said my b12 was on the low end of normal and she was gonna give me a shot once a week in case my body was just needing more than normal. I said thanks and went on my way at work. I was truly starting to think I was crazy.

The next day while at work, she called me again to tell me my Vit-D was low. It was a 19. And that is why I was getting Dizzy and Off Balance. I can't tell you how happy I was to finally have a answer!
So my questions are:

1.) Did anyone here get dizzy or off balance with a Vitamin D Deficiency?
2.) How long to I feel better? I am taking Vitamin D 50,000 units once a week for 8 weeks then going to re-check...

Menopause :: Dizzy / Off-balance Everyday?

Anyone else feel dizzy/off-balance every day? I don't think my doctor(s) believe me when I tell them that I feel this way (almost) every day....I've not actually fallen down, but it feels as though I'm swaying even when I'm standing (or sitting) still....in fact, it's almost worse when I'm standing/sitting still....I was talking to someone in the hallway at work yesterday and thought I was going to fall over (although I don't think anyone can actually see me swaying)....I also feel a weird "internal" shaking in my legs sometimes...I've had a ridiculous number of medical tests, and they all came back normal....my doctors have suggested that it's anxiety, but I'm wondering if it might be perimenopause? My periods have been very erratic for the last eighteen months or so (which is about when all of this began happening)....coincidence? Looking for some advice from anyone who has these physical symptoms....how do you get through the days? I'm so frustrated...I just want my life back!

Diazepam - Coming Off

After suffering 2 prolapsed discs I was prescribed maximum daily dosage of tramadol and pregabalin plus 30 mg amitriptyline 30mg diazepam and 15mg zopiclone, I'm surprised I could walk but I thought I was just fine! It was only when my son gave me a few home truths telling me I looked stoned, 100 years old and like a zombie (harsh but true!!) did I realise what a mess I was. Normally I am a bubbly person but all I wanted to do was lay and watch telly, so I decided to ct everything apart from the diazepam! Ouch!! After the first week, of physical symptoms of which the restless leg was the worst, came the awful depression. I have had 4 weeks off work because the anxiety has been bad and that's with me still taking the diazepam. Anyway I have dropped from 40 mg diazepam to 20 mg in 2 weeks. Way too fast I know but I just want off. I am slowing down now with the taper as I'm started to get scared as the last ct was hell on earth. However I don't want to follow the Ashton manual and still be on this in another 6 months.

Diazepam Is A Nightmare

does anyone else find that family and/or friends get fed up and walk away when you keep telling them how Ill you feel or are? People really don't know what they're getting themselves into with what seems an innocent looking magic pill. Then it reality hits you. It can take decades for the penny to drop! Yes! it's the pills. I don't know of one doctor or psychiatrist that understands.

Diazepam Withdrawal

Withdrawing from diazepam is not as easy as some site may make out. I was taken off diazepam in 20 days. after being on it for four months. The senario was horrendous. After two months I was still experiencing withdrawal symptoms particularly anxiety and tremor. I contacted CITA and was told that I would have to reinstate and withdraw more slowly. THIS WAS TOTALLY INCORRECT ADVICE! I was not taking the drug and would eventually have ceased the symptoms. I am now back where I started. It is absolutely essential that anyone wishing to withdraw from diazepam should seek professional medical advice and ensure all senarios are discussed with the doctor or consultant. Diazepam is an evil drug and must be treated as such.

L4-L5 Microdiscectomy - Still Swelling Of Knees And Losing Balance

The excruciating sciatic pain is gone but I am left unable to walk w/o a walker or sometimes I can use a cane. My back, at the incision is painful and weeping slightly. My R. knee hurts like all hell , my R. hip has pain but is somewhat better. I am afraid to stay alone for risk of falling, as I tend to still lose my balance. Both of my ankles are heavily swollen to a point of being unable to put shoes on. I know that the muscular atrophy didn't occur overnight as well as, well most of my symptoms. So tell me, anybody who has been here, is this normal,? Should I expect up and down "victories" as I have described?, I know that I am young in my recovery but does this seem to be following a normal path of recuperation ?, or could something else be wrong? The Dr. never did mention what to expect post op.

Parkinson Rule Out - Still Walking And Balance Difficulties - What It Could Be?

My grandmother has serious difficulty walking, only being able to make small, shuffling steps with a walker and when someone is holding her. She was originally diagnosed with parkinson's, but lacked other symptoms like tremors, cognitive issues, etc and did not respond to levodopa. MRI and not responding to treatment ruled out Parkinsons, but doctors are unsure what she has. What could cause the symptoms and the trouble with walking?

Specifically, she cannot balance standing upright and most hold on to something. When walking, she can only make small shuffling steps, she sometimes fails to lift her feet off the floor. She can move her leg fine when sitting or lying down. She also feels heavy pain.

This has been leaving all of us confused as a lot of conditions (like Parkinson's) have been ruled out, but.. what could it be?

Dizziness / Lightheadedness And General Feeling Of Being Off Balance

Some of you might have read my ongoing battle with constant dizziness/lightheadedness and general feeling of being off balance along with the usual symptoms of anxiety thrown in for good measure!

I thought after having to clear CT scans, seeing an ENT doctor twice, having an echocardiogram and wearing a heart monitor for 24hrs and having a scan on my neck and numerous other checks and bloods that I would start to feel better knowing that everything is checking out to be fine but unfortunately not it's just not going away just when I think that things are improving and I have a good day it comes back and bites me in the backside today being a good example I've felt OK all day then go to bath my kids and bang it hits me, I go all dizzy and my body feels very heavy and like I'm being pulled to the right all the time then I go into panic mode and worry about what is happening to me, how I feel and what if I pass out, I'm so sick of worrying about what's going on all the time it's taking over my life!

I also had a call from the docs about some bloods I had done last week they want to see me so wondering if anything has showed up on them!

Benzodiazepines :: Diazepam Alternatives

I have had to start taking Citalopram again after being off it for 6 months. I am taking around 2 to 3 5mg diazepam a week for anxiety while waiting for it to kick in.

I have been taking Citalopram for 18 days. Are there any natural or less addictive meds I can take instead of diazepam? Read some where people say there are alternatives but not sure what they are.
