Venlafaxine :: Venlafaxine XL - Less Side Effects

I've been on it for years and it's been brilliant. I was tired all the time and it gave me new energy.

The downside is that if you miss a couple of doses the withdrawal side-effects are quite horrendous. Venlafaxine XL (time released ones) are gentler with the side effects than the ordinary ones.

They've definitely worked for me.

Venlafaxine :: Long Term Health Implications And Side Effects?

I suffer from recurrent moderately severe depression. I've been on Venlafaxine for about a year now. Previously I was taking the "Californian Cocktail" of Citalopram and mirtazapine but the weight gain of 3 stones and sedation to the point of regularly falling asleep at my work desk and whilst driving convinced me it was not for me - though it did relieve my depression.

My current dosage of venlafaxine is 375 mg per day (that's five 75 mg slow release caps) having read through most of the posts here I cannot find anyone on this level of dosage.

Am I a lab rat for an experimental psychiatrist?

My depression has largely been under control for most of this last year on Vn and the worst side effect, after the first two weeks, has been in the bedroom department but I am concerned at the long term health implications of this medication. Also and over the last 2 months my depression has slowly been returning which has prompted me to return to my psychiatrist.

Has anyone else had a similar experience of using Vn for a long period at this high dosage?

Omeprazole :: Warning - Serious Side Effects, Stop Taking It

For those of you who are just starting to take omeprazole, please stop and find other alternatives!!! I have endured so much agony from this medication since I first started taking it last year. You might feel better initially but if you take it for longer than 2 weeks, you will find it extremely difficult, if not impossible to get off of it because the rebound acid is a killer.

On top of that, I've experienced some horrible side effects (which I've never had before):

- exercise-induced tachycardia: extremely fast and uncontrollable heartbeat (over 200 bpm).

- heart palpitations and irregular heartbeat

- anxiety

- chest pains

- extreme fatigue

- depression

I am a healthy, physically active 34 yr old female and was prescribed omeprazole for a mild stomach irritation or suspected ulcer. I stayed on it for several months with few symptoms at the time. However, going off of it was another story. Because these pills stop your stomach from producing acid, it burns and hurts enormously when you try to go off of it. As well, after I managed to wean myself off (I had to go through a juice fast in order to do it), I started developing digestive issues I'd never had before like heartburn and reflux. I believe it is these pills which have caused it as I'd never had heartburn until taking it.

And now, having been on it a 2nd time, I've developed the list of symptoms above which have caused me endless grief!

I've read other stories of people having the same symptoms as well as a host of other problems like osteoporosis because it drains your body of calcium.

More people need to know about the dangers of this medication. I read about people staying on this for years and developing even more conditions!

Thyroid :: Scared Of Taking Nature-Throid Due To Side Effects

I've just been diagnosed with Hashimoto, and been doing quite some research. My MD and I decided on Nature-Throid. The lowest dose possible 16,25mg. But I'm terrified of taking it, cause I keep reading about heart related side effects. I must admit that I suffer from anxiety, which doesn't help any. I was wondering if at that low of a dose major side effects are likely? Any experience with Nature-Throid?

My thyroid levels are:
TSH: 3.4
T4: 1.31
T3: 3.5
TPO: 170
TPO: 170

Venlafaxine :: No Better Effects After 3 Weeks

I've had social anxiety / gad since highschool and I am now 25. I first took citalopram at 17 and took most other ssris trying to find one which helped, it was only when I took sertraline at around age 21 that I really felt benefit from a med, I noticed a feeling of content I'd not experienced since my childhood days, and soon got a job and began to socialise a bit after years of being a recluse. Anyway, the good feelings only lasted a year and I found myself asking for meds again, so my doctor put me on cymbalta which I took for 6 weeks and felt no benefit. I then went back and was put back on escitalopram which I felt had been somewhat helpful and I stayed on that for a couple of years.

Again I found myself suffering anxiety on a daily basis, so I needed a new med, so I went to my doctor again and was put on venlafaxine in late 2014 at a starting dose of 37.5 twice a day. I took my first and felt completely out of it and suffered worse panic attacks at work, so I tried to come of meds altogether but found myself taking half a tablet every other day to prevent the horrible withdrawals, when I completely stopped I felt more anxious and depressed so went back to my GP who recommended mirtazapine which I refused, I explained I didn't want to keep taking more meds for them not to work, as I didn't want to end up on last resort meds such as MAOI's when I am not clinically depressed or a risk per se. So i agreed to give Venlafaxine a try at 75mg a day and go back in a few weeks.

I am now on week 3 of venlafaxine and the positives are decreased anxiety at 'work', although this med makes me so tired I have no energy to be anxious, and a feeling of content, although I could sit in all day and not feel compelled to do anything as I feel 'ok' if that makes sense, which is a bad thing really. The negatives are a feeling of emotional numbness, no desire or motivation to achieve goals, tiredness all the time and no desire to socialise which suggests no improvement in social anxiety, and teeth clenching which happens with all meds for me.

So my question is should I keep taking venlafaxine, should I go back on sertraline in the hope it might work like the first time, or should I go on mirtazapine even though I don't want to feel even more zombiefied and don't want to feel hungry all the time. Or should I stop meds?

Ramipril :: Side Effects

I am a 47 year old male (right weight for height) and reasonably fit running three times a week who has recently had to visit the doctor (first time in years) for severe neck pain caused by strenuous gardening work -so called leisure.

However my blood pressure was checked over the past few weeks and has found to be continuously very high ranging 190/115 to 150/90. My GP has decided to put me on ramipril starting with 2.5mg increasing to 5 mg and then 10mg over six weeks. On reading the comments about side effects I am really concerned which has now possibly increased my blood pressure further - really concerned on what to do, should I get a second opinion through my private medical before starting this treatment?

Oxytetracycline Bad Side Effects

I used the tablets for 5 months and a bit, should be taking it for 6 months but i decide to give into not taking them due to really bad side effects.

When i started, i took 2 TWICE a day for 4 months but, rashes appeared on my cheeks, completely red and skin dried also on my nose. I couldn't bear the suffering, i applied creams like E45 (made things worse for me) then i switched to sudocrem, applying it to my face where the rashes were. this seemed to help stop the rash from getting any worse. I went to see the doctor who said i should cut down on the tabs to 1 Twice a day so i finally started to heal from the rashes. I carried on using the tabs this way until the rashes appeared on my nose again, it was really bad.

To those who suffer from Eczema, be warned as this course may effect it, making it really bad. This is the reason why i have to quit from this 6 month course (am finishing on 5 and a bit months) As for acne, it helped clear it up nicely even old scars until a point where my skin could heal no further ( i stayed the same after the 3rd month) so hopefully, changes are permanent and my side effects will go away from stopping this course.

Ramipril :: Problematic Side Effects

Put on this drug for HBP 2.5mg then 5 mgs had various problematic side effects went to doctor to advise him of my problems with this drug. He then increased the dosage to 10 mgs which I have taken now for 2 months and the problems have multiplied to a point when I have become so ill with all the problems highlighted in these messages that I stopped taking the drug and started to feel better within 3 days. I wonder now what the reaction will be from my GP when I tell him that I want to try an alternative drug. Having high blood pressure I could do without worrying about his comments which other people have endured when they have asked to have an alternative drug.

Citalopram :: 7 Weeks - Side Effects Almost Gone

I'm on week 7 of 10 mg, and am pleased to say that my pounding heart, dry mouth and nausea have disappeared, I've only had a couple of headaches, my jaw clenching and tensing up have almost gone.  I'm still struggling sleeping but I've never been good at that anyway, so I'll just see how that goes.  I don't feel like skipping through life every day, but I certainly don't feel really low any more, I just feel 'steady'.  Stick with it everyone, and thank you for your support.
