Liver And Kidney Damage - Taking Quinine For Leg Cramps
I have just been found to have liver and kidney damage through taking Quinine for leg cramps. It is banned in the US for treating this condition.
I am now on a repair diet, to aid good health again.
I had a call from my Dr, to say STOP taking them asap, they are creating many problems for your health.
Gabapentin :: 2 Hours After Taking Antacids?
you state that if taking antacids you should leave at least 2 hrs after taking Gabapentin before taking antacids.
On my Gabapentin leaflet it states that Gabapentin is to to be taken at the earliest two hours after taking an antacid.
Who do I believe? I shall have to consult my chemist?
Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension :: My Daughter Has BIH
My 12 year old daughter had had headaches for some time and her endocrinologist advised her to have an eye test. I say 'endocrinologist' as she was born without a thyroid gland (extremely rare) and she's been taking thyroxine since she was 10 days old. She's also monitored for her hypothyroidism. Anyway, between her doctor's appt and her eye test, she got her first period. So we blamed her headaches on her development. The ophthalmologist said that my daughter needed to increase her lenses. So again, we put her headaches down to this. By time, her headaches moved down to her neck and 4 months later, at another routine eye test, I mentioned this and the ophthalmologist decided to look behind her eyes. He was horrified to see extreme swelling of both optic nerves and a swollen brain. She was admitted into hospital and had a CT Scan done. Luckily there were no tumours but a lumbar puncture showed that her CSF pressure was 50 (it should be 15-18). She was immediately started on diamox 250mg (acetazolamide). After a few days this dose doubled. Today she has just had her 6th lumbar puncture and as the pills don't seem to be working - her CSF pressure is on the rise again, her medication has been increased again. She's taking 2g per day (750mg-500mg-750mg) daily, which i think is too much for a child. On the 23rd July she's having her 7th lumbar puncture and also seeing a neurosurgeon, because inserting a shunt seems to be the only solution. Lets hope and pray all will be ok.

Sex and meth.
My wife and I have been doing meth off and on for about 5 years.
It really took our sex lives to a whole new level.
We had been laying off of it the last couple years.. but have started to get it once in awhile again. It's not the same as it was. We would have some WILD and CRAZY sex on it...just a few years ago. Hours and hours of nonstop sex.
But it isn't causing us to do that anymore. Is it the meth that we are now getting? Is it just not a good quality?
Quinine Tablets For Restless Leg Syndrome
my doctor has prescribed me quinine tablets for my restless leg syndrome. Has anyone tried them? I have got symptoms tonight the first time in 2 weeks since starting the treatment. I'm not sure if they are working for me or not as I can go 2-3 weeks in between flare ups.

View 5 RepliesQuinine For Leg Cramps Works - 200 Mg Tablet Every Other Night
I was having leg cramps in calf and thigh 2 to 3 times nightly. It took 10 to 15 minutes of walking around and massaging for relief. Obviously becoming sleep deprived. My doctor started me on 200 mg quinine nightly, increasing to 300 mg if necessary. Within days my muscle cramps diminished. At the end of one month they were gone. The immediate relief was astonishing. I have been on quinine for over a year now. As a preventive dose, I take one 200 mg tablet every other night which seems to be sufficient. If I get an occasional cramp, I take the tablets every night for a few days.
I tried drinking quinine water (Schweppes tonic carbonated water) as a substitute - but was unable to drink that much carbonated water daily. Wasn't able to try it long enough to see if it would help by itself. It had worked for a friend of mine who wanted me to try it.
I have had no side effects from the quinine. I would highly recommend trying quinine if you are having night cramps.
Quinine For Fever? Side Effects Of Tablets?
My friend uses quinine tablets each time he has fever. I am not sure why he doesn’t use usual antipyretics. I know that these tablets are recommended for malaria, but I am not sure how they affect usual fever. Can anyone tell me about side effects of these tablets?
View 1 RepliesTransitioning To A Shoe (11 Year-old Daughter - Post Flat Foot Surgery)
It's been awhile since I've posted. My daughter had flat-foot surgery on her left foot on Dec 17, 2014 (subtalar arthroereisis and gastroc recession). Had this same surgery on the right foot and calf a year to the day in 2013 as well, with excellent results. As an aside, prior to surgery in 2013, her right foot was more troublesome than the left, but the left was an issue as well. Last time, she was at about 80% healed by April. We were very happy about that.
On the one hand, she's coming along nicely with this recent surgery. She goes to PT twice a week, doesn't mention any pain during the day in the walking boot, is in good spirits, and takes the boot off at home and meanders around without it, barefoot. I would think that this would hurt (I kinda cringe when I see her doing it) but she insists she's okay. She has a slight limp, but I figure technically, it's still kind of early yet.
What has me a little concerned is that she isn't tolerating a shoe. When we last saw the surgeon about three weeks ago, he said it was fine for her to start transitioning to a shoe. Yet here we are three weeks later, and she still prefers to wear the walking boot. Says that her heel hurts when it's in a shoe (how it doesn't hurt when she walks barefoot at home: I have no idea.
She is required to wear tennis shoes at school, and she's been wearing New Balance for years now. When I look at last year's calendar and reflect on the surgery for her other foot, I recall that she was further along in the process. She was already wearing shoes at this point. Walking slowly yes, but was wearing shoes.
I wondered...should I maybe go up 1/2 a size? Maybe her old shoe is too snug in the heel now, or there may still be some swelling? Should I got up 1/2 size AND go wider?
She's having an orthotic made for the left foot, and maybe that will help. She has some school events (field trips) coming up at the end of April and also in May and I was hoping she'd be easily walking on her own before then, and able to participate.
Contraception :: Nexplanon 3 Years Passed
I had the Implanon for 3 years and had it replaced for the Nexplanon around 2.5 years ago. I haven't had periods since having these implants except for a bit of spotting during the change over. Yesterday however I have started having a period. Not as heavy as I used to have them when not on any contraception but much more than just spotting. I am concerned that it has stopped working as I am a few months off having it changed. I have gained a lot of weight this year from stress and I have read that having an increased weight can cause it to stop working early. Could this be the case? And should I arrange to go to the clinic to have it changed?

View 10 RepliesHow Long Can Bleeding Last After A Kidney Stones Passed?
I am not 100% sure I'm dealing with kidney stones but I'm almost positive. I've had random bouts of bloody urine the past couple months. I had a ct scan Friday and am waiting on results.
My most recent bleeding has lasted about 2 weeks. This is what prompted my visit to the urologist. It started during my menstrual cycle and never let up. It would go from gross to microscopic and back again. I've dealt with minor aches and pains in both my back and pelvic area, similar to menstrual cramps. Nothing major. Last Tuesday I was stopped with sharp pains from my back to abdomen and towards my hip area. It wasn't excruciating but not very comfortable by Any means either. That lasted about an hour and a half, in waves.
Friday was my ct scan with contrast. Friday night the urge to urinate was insane. I had to sit with my legs crossed to even be slightly comfortable. Saturday I woke up with dull pain in my back which was relieved after I urinated. Some minor aches saturday and by Sunday was feeling completely normal. No blood visibly or microscopicly.
This morning my first Urine was a little brown. Ever since it's been clear. I'm drinking a ton of water, which I was never in the habit of ever doing.
How long can bleeding last after a stone is passed?
Stones run in my family from my father, brother, my fathers siblings and my cousins. Also at my physical last year my blood showed a little elevation in calcium levels which I know can lead to stones.
Has anyone had a similar experience with bleeding??
Husband - Tinnitus Is Genetic? Can Be Passed To Baby?
I am married. I am 25 years old. And my husband 29 years old. Now I am pregnant. But my husband had tinnitus in left ear before 10 years. Then he had done surgery to recover tinnitus. After the surgery, he has hearing loss as the side effect of operation for the left ear. I have a doubt that “ is this type of tinnitus is inherited to our baby and if yes how many percentages will get tinnitus for my baby?” we are very tensed really. Is there any hearing loss problem is inherited to my baby? If yes, how much percent probability get a hearing loss?
