View 4 RepliesHemorrhoids :: Pain Relief After Hemorrhoidectomy?
I had my op 2 days ago and at first I thought that the pain was bearable, what I didn't know was that it hadn't even begun!
I have suffered with painful piles for many many years, I had them injected which eased them for a while the doctor at the hospital told me it was necessary for me to have surgery.
I prepared myself as best as I could by getting healthy. I ate a healthy diet and walked for an hour a day as well as working a 40 hour week.
But nothing prepares you for this. I have been in terrible pain all night, I passed my first motion in the early hours and the pain was so severe I was sick everywhere at the same time, which put a further strain on my bum. The pain since has been so intense that I don't know what to do with myself. I laid in the bath for half an hour which gave some relief but once out the pain was back.

I'm currently taking tramadol but trying not to take them to often as i know they can cause addiction. Im also keeping a hot water bottle under my left hip to try and help. Anyone got any other ideas?

My 16 year old son had an ear infection 2 weeks ago ( VERY PAINFUL )He has had a course of Distaclor antibiotics and for the pain relief we where able to double its effectiveness by alternating Ibuprofen and paracetamol about every 2 or 3 hours he had discharge from the ear which was red initially so I presume the drum has ruptured which caused some relief ! but he is still suffering hearing loss ! I am cautious about using ear drops at the moment incase this effects the ear drum !! any advice?

View 1 RepliesHemorrhoids :: PPH - Stapled Haemorrhoidopexy - Relief After 2-3 Weeks?
I had this procedure the beginning of January 2012 under general anaesthetic, and afterwards it was one of the worst pain/uncomfortable experiences of my life. I didn't know what to do with myself afterwards. I couldn't walk, sit or lay comfortably, and was in constant pain. And forget any ideas about going to the loo.
I now have some idea of what childbirth must be like after I finally managed the 'two the loo' for the first time after five days, horrendous. Thank god I'm not a woman.
Never again, hopefully.
I would also add, according to my surgeon, it can take up to three months before everything is back to normal. Although you will feel alot better after the first two to three weeks.
I don't know how the information sheet (link below) can say that you can usually return to work around a week later after this particular procedure. As far as I was concerned, not a chance. I'm now nine weeks in and feeling OK. Internally healing is still going on, and am still having the odd day with regular visits to the loo. But I am told this will settle down.
Some tips that will help with recovery.
Apart from painkillers and drinking plenty of fluids I found warm baths help give relief (albeit for a short while) from the pain, discomfort and that constant feeling that you want to have your bowels open. I was sometimes having up to three baths a day for the first two weeks just to give me some relief. And if you are prescribed Co-codamol pain relief, come off them as soon as you can or you will suffer with constipation, and that isn't good I can assure you.
TKR :: Pain Relief? Paracetamol And Codeine Not Working
I am new to this, but at the moment I'm wishing I had never had this done. I had a TKR done on Friday, the epidural and sedation didn't work so had to have a general. The pain relief I got whilst in hospital was good, came home yesterday and all I've got is paracetamol and codeine, which has no effect at all, slept in 20 minute intervals all night. Our dog had her crucial element ligament done about 17 months ago and she was on better pain relief. I am honestly regretting what I have done, sorry for sounding so negative.

View 2 RepliesLichen Sclerosus :: Daily Discomfort Relief - My Experience
I noticed a few ladies with clitoris irritation or excessive sensitivity there sometimes. I had this too, but also had daily nonstop irritation in the labia minora area (or where the labia minora should be). The whole area for me down there was either red or white, no nice pale pink supple flexible tissue. I'd been doing the baking soda baths and the spritz after urination followed by coconut oil and using the club after the bath, taking care to rub it in. I also cut all sugar, gluten, dairy, and alcohol from my diet. I was initially quite strict with no sugar at all for a month, then had one serving of berries only daily for two months, and now have either some fruit or a very small amount of raw organic honey daily.
When I got my period, the irritation ramped up. I have since learned that is because of the pH of blood, even one drop of blood on that skin can send it into a frenzy because it was so irritated and raw.
I saw my GP a half-dozen times at least while waiting to get into a gyne. I have to say I am not impressed with my gyne, who I have seen for 2 visits (all of 5 minutes each visit) and all she had to say was that it wasn't a big deal and just use the clobetasol, and lots of it, and come back in a year. By this point the LS had spread to the anal area and I was having tearing, pain, and fresh blood with every elimination. In short, I was not well. I tried acupuncture and a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor. He was very well recommended and actually is an MD as well, but he never examined the area and we couldn't really communicate fluently.
I continue to see my GP and gyne (when she'll see me), and I continue to use clobetasol daily (since June 2015). I am in no way suggesting that anyone abandon the clobetasol or steroid ointment. But I have to say, what has made a huge difference in my health is going to a naturopath.
She has recommended dietary restrictions and some vitamin supplements, but also introduced me to a product I haven't seen discussed here: ozonated olive oil. Of course, there are different brands and whatnot, and as with anything it seems there are some better than others (something to do with how the ozone is put into the oil and then how the product is stored). It should be refrigerated. It melts on your fingers like coconut oil.
It is apparently a powerful epithelial skin healer. I say apparently because I am no scientist. I read that on the Internet and heard it from my naturopath. It is a strong anti fungal, and I actually thought of using it on the vulva when I was getting the excessive clitoris sensitivity because of something I had read on this site about how fungal infections can live in the clitoral hood skin. Anyways, I gave it a try and I must say, it BURNED. I won't lie. Like when you are holding your hands too close to the flame and want to back up. But it dulls after ten minutes, and I put it on then went to bed, and I was able to sleep, it didn't wake me up in the night. No pain by the morning. It burned the next night too, but every day less and after four days it didn't burn at all.
I keep at it once daily and I have zero daily irritation now. It doesn't even feel like anything is wrong down there. I still have fusing of the labia minora, but I can start to see the outline of a raised edge underneath the skin. The white is more off white than stark white and the red is now pale pink. The skin is stretchable without pain. No bleeding on elimination. Of course, the diet and supplements and clob must all play a part. It's just a suggestion if anyone is interested - just look up ozonated Olive oil and make your own decision. I think it made a big impact on my sanity and emotional capability to handle LS, by relieving some pain.
Bulging Discs - Tramadol, Naproxen, Co-codamol And Nortriptyline - No Relief
I have suffered with a 'bad back' since i was 21, i'm now 40 in August, and since october 2014 i have been getting worse and worse and went from taking tramadol, naproxen, co-codamol and nortriptyline as and when i needed to. Now i take in a day.... 1800mg of Gabapentin, 20 mg of Zomorph, 180 mg of dihydrocodeine 35 mg of Amitriptyline at bedtime 1000mg of naproxen. I also have an underactive thyroid so take 200mcg thyroxine and for my depression and anxiety i take 150mg of venlafaxine.
With all this i still feel pain, but also a little dopey, i'm currently on the sick from work and am worried about how I'm going to pay my bills - i have been to my psychiatrist and she gave diazepam to take when i feel anxious...... love sweets, me!!!! I needed help and advice.... with all that medication i should be floored, never mind the fact I'm still in pain. I had an X-Ray in Nocv 14 this showed osteoarthritis and then an MRI scan this showed a bulging disc on L5/S1 i think it was. I have been referred to the orthopaedic specialists but its all just a waiting game but all this time i still have all my bills to pay and this leads to horrendous bouts of depression.
Bartholin's Cyst :: Instant Relief With Q-tips And Cotton Swabs
Every time I feel an abscess coming I do this very simple steps and trust me! Trust me! when I say INSTANT RELIEF! I've had bartholin abscess recurrence since 8 years ago. I've had it maybe 15 times. I've tried everything except surgery. I just did these steps literally 10 minutes ago because I felt an abscess coming and when I checked my vagina I was right my right labia was starting to swell up.
All you need is q-tips or cotton swabs, and a mirror. (I use the magnifying mirror it's easier to see) Sit on the toilet, place the mirror in front of your vagina so you can see. Find your bartholin duct/opening... Using your index and middle finger spread the labia - I don't know if it's the same for everyone but my bartholin opening is just right beside my clitoris. It's a very small hole. Position the q-tip/swab on the swollen gland then press to squeeze the puss out. Keep doing it until the gland is empty. The relief ahhhh if I had known this procedure 8 years ago (I discovered it by accident -(tried everything out of desperation) omg all those suffering from pain and not being able to walk and sit.
Bacterial Vaginosis :: Relief But Bleeding From Boric Acid Suppositories
I've had a bacterial infection off and on four four years now. I've tried everything. But just recently I was prescribed boric acid suppositories. The second day I noticed an immediate relief in my symptoms. However, with continued use, I've been bleeding vaginally and it doesn't seem like menstrual blood. My doctor said it's normal, but I know it isn't. It gets lighter throughout the day, but when I wake up, it's heavy again after wiping myself. I don't know what to do.

View 1 RepliesTinnitus :: 3 Different Ringing Noises
I am 17 now and I have had tinnitus for only about 6 months and I already think I is really annoying!! I'v got about 3 different ringing noises, one (the first) in my right ear, the second is a higher pitched one in the middle area, (I cant tell where that is coming from) and sometimes I get an extremely high pitched loud ringing in my left ear which comes and goes (It's so loud that when it comes I actually turn my head to see where the noise is coming from.)
My problem is that I have no idea how what caused it. I ruled out loud noises because I can't think of a situation where I have been exposed to very loud music.
One day I just woke up with tinnitus. My hearing was reduced for the first few days and then fully returned.
Recently I think it has got worse.
I have seen my GP twice and now I will be seen by an ENT DR. Tinnitus doesn't stop me sleeping, but it is the only thing I can hear at night and that is extremely annoying.
The worst problem I have is that I find it very hard to concentrate when doing schoolwork as this is when I would normally need silence. I find it very difficult to concentrate with noise so tinnitus upsets me quite a lot.
