Switching To Citalopram After 4 Years Of Venlafaxine
I have been on venlafaxine 225 for 4 years now and I am currently coming of it slowly every month down by 37.5mg, I am now on 75 mg and feeling so awful with all the normal symptoms.
Can anyone advise me as to which antidepressant to go on next as unfortunately I can not be without one and can I start taking it alongside the 37.5 which I am about to go on.
I was thinking of trying Citalopram which my son is on.

View 6 RepliesSwitching From Prozac To Mirtazapine - What To Expect?
I have been signed off work for the last 6 months with depression. I was prescribed Prozac, the dose of which was doubled after a few weeks, but I didn't find it helped with my anxiety.
A trip to Morrisons puts me in panic mode, I recently had to renew my passport at the Post Office and was sick on the way home as it caused me so much distress.
I stopped taking the Prozac cold turkey a few weeks ago and didn't have any problems. I didn't feel and better or any worse.
I have now been prescribed 30mg Mirtazapine - my first tablet will be this evening. However, I have read bad things about the side affects, I don't want to put on weight or feel any more down and sleepy than I already do.
Are there any positives to this medication - surely there must be!

I was initially on(30mg) for 8 weeks for depression and anxiety. And I did start to feel better, although the blurry vision and the derealisation side effects started to make me anxious again. I think the light head was the anxiety not the tablets.
Went back to work and made an appointment with the Doctor to see if there was another antidepressant with no side effects as I didn't think the Mirt was working.
He told me how to gradually come off the Mirtazapine and then to start Those days coming off the Mirtazapine were fine and the 3 days I took nothing I felt great again! Well what an awful reaction I had to the Citalopram ! Heart thumping, sickness, mind racing, pins and needles, total insomnia for 3 days and the anxiety attacks were awful! I actually phoned NHS Direct.
When I spoke to the Doctor , he said that I had a reaction and the tablets obviously didn't agree. In a knowing smile, he said that I should perhaps go back on the Mirt and that I came off them too quickly.
I am now on no medication , but can feel the awful anxiety still there from the Citalopram episode and am wondering if I will slip back to square one again if I don't take anything. The Doctor has given me a prescription for 15mg 1 week and thereafter 30mg. Perhaps the side effects weren't that bad and as the nurse said " only got bothersome because I was feeling better".
So I'm thinking that I will go back to the Mirtazapine and perhaps they aren't that bad!
Positives From Mirtazapine? Citalopram Not Working For Me
Citalopram wasn't working for me and my BP depression has been getting worse so I've just been given a prescription for mirtazapine but after reading the bad reviews on here I'm scared to death of taking it! I'll be tapering off the citalopram in the next few days and then starting the Mirt at the weekend, is there anybody who has had some positive effects from taking this medication? My Dr said it was a very good AD drug which will lift my mood in a few weeks so I was really hopeful but now I'm not so sure if I want to take it and feel upset.

I m doing work experience and I don't care anymore. I m On list to see therapist at the end of month. I have no energy or drive, has anyone else experienced this?
View 2 RepliesCitalopram :: 20mg To 40mg Citalopram?
I have had a really tough year, and was prescribed citalopram 12 weeks ago, started on 10mg for 2 weeks then 20mg ever since. I haven't been feeling any better, I have been going through a break up so its hard to know what's heartbreak and what's depression but the only thing that's seemed to be improving is anxiety which was taking over my life.
I still wake up most days not wanting to move, feeling hopeless and like I don't want to be here (I wouldn't physically hurt myself) and non stop crying and fear of the future and low self esteem. I used to be so confident and outgoing and happy, my world has crashed in the last year and recently I spoke to my doctor who has raised the dose to 40mg which I have now been taking for 3 days. I feel absolutely worse and again not sure if it's circumstantial. I feel embarrassed In Front of my friends and family as one minute I'll be crying and struggling to breath having a panic attack and the next I'll be laughing and smiling. Has anyone else suffered in the same way? I am hoping that this dosage is what I need but I'm just having teething problems. Right now though I feel very scared and worried it's not going to do the trick if I feel like this.
Mirtazapine :: Weight Gain On Mirtazapine 30mg
I have just started on the 30m Mirtazapine and it's my 3rd night taking them ans i have read up on a lot of different forums that there are patients gaining weight off these? well i would like to know what the odds are of gaining weight because i have always had problems with weight gain, i can never put on any weight, no matter how much i eat, i have a fast metabolism and i am wondering, will the mirtazapine surpass my high metabolism. also in some cases i've heard it slows your metabolism down too.. but it would actually be a benefit for me to gain some extra weight.
View 5 RepliesMirtazapine :: Tapering Off Mirtazapine - Spinning Myself In Circles
For the first time in a very long time, I'm finally in a good enough place to make the step in coming off my Anti-depressant. I've been on Mirtazapine 45mg for the last 4/5 years and before that a string of various of medications.
Despite my anxiety been kind of excessive at the moment, after a discussion with my GP, he was happy to let me begin tapering down the dose. The problem is with my anxiety I feel it mainly physically rather than mentally so it makes me a little oversensitive to any changes that take place in my body.
I guess what I am searching for is some reassurance so I can stop driving myself up the wall, exhausting google search on mirtazapine withdrawal. 6 nights ago I started my first reduction so 45 mg to 30mg. In all honesty it's not been that bad, a few waves of nausea, headaches and random aches and pains. Those I was expecting so don't mind too much. The trouble is that for the last 3 days, I've found myself a little short of breath for most of the day. It's nothing that's outwardly noticeable at the moment, but it's there and is slightly concerning. Has anyone else experienced this when tapering?
I'm kind of freaked out a little because one of my fears that's arisen since the mirtazapine is the that i will develop random allergies and my brain is wondering if I've suddenly developed an allergy to my meds (ridiculous, I know!) The other thing is that the rest of my family has had either viral chest problems lately so maybe I've just picked up that and it's a coincidence? Or it could just be the anxiety.
I'm totally spinning myself in circles at the moment so any wise words are most welcome at this point. If I know it is just withdrawal and nothing that can actually hurt me then I'm fine with whatever effects it throws at me.

View 1 RepliesSwitching Between Microgynon And Cerazette
So basically I was on microgynon for about 3 years before switching to cerazette as I told the doctors I had headaches from microgynon as I didn't want to have periods anymore (stupid I know). So now I have been on cerazette for about 6 months my bleeding is extremely light however can come at any time. Sometimes for weeks of light bleeding. I now want to swap back to microgynon as I am going on holiday in November and want to ensure I am not bleeding whilst I am there. I am worried that If I switch back I could potentially bleed for a long period of time. My doctor told me to double up on cerazette but I have had other symptoms such as vaginal dryness which is affecting my sex life. If I switch back to microgynon will I bleed for ages or will it just be for a week, I never had problems with this pills before.
View 1 RepliesSwitching From Lipitor To Simvastatin?
I’ve been on Lipitor for over a year now and I feel like like I’ve been putting up with side effects of this medication for far too long. I’ve not been having muscle aches, but I feel like I’m having flu for this whole year I’m on the Lipitor.
My doctor says that as far as statin medication go, Lipitor is one with least side effects and its more potent than simvastatin, but I was on simvastatin before and it didn’t feel as bad as Lipitor does. I guess I can insist that my doctor puts me back on simvastatin, but still, I’m wondering will it be as effective in controlling my cholesterol?
Switching From Atenolol To Propranolol
I'm changing from Atenolol to propranolol having had a bit of a reaction to atenolol ( my dosage was increased and I suddenly got tinnitus and vertigo) after 18 months. Has anyone else had to do this? It took me a while to get used to the Atenolol, the thought of going through that again is a bit worrying. Ive read about the side effects ( I suppose I shouldn't have) but I want to start taking them now to get rid of this blooming awful reaction...
View 1 RepliesSwitching From Zetia To Zocor
I was prescribed Zetia after my regular physical showed I have borderline high cholesterol and Zetia was supposed to bring it back down to normal range. However, that did not happen at all, in fact during the time I was on Zetia I had either the same cholesterol results or even an increase.
Now my physician wants to switch me to statin medication Zocor and to be honest I’m reluctant to start taking it mainly because all the experiences and warnings about statin side effects. Would an increased dose of Zetia be enough to prevent my physician from switching me to Zocor?
Sertraline :: Anxiety And Leg Cramps After Starting
I've been horribly depressed for the last six months after stopping Zoloft which I had been taking, successfully, for years. Thought I might not need it anymore but I definitely do.
I remember feeling horrible the first time I started taking Zoloft. I was nauseous, nervous, shaky, dizzy and had horrible anxiety. I was given an antianxiety medication to help me cope back then .
Today I just hit three weeks and have been titrating my dose each week to where I am now at the dose I had taken prior to stopping Zoloft. Overall I've had a bit of nausea but nothing like the first time. The symptoms that seem at their peak at the moment are chest gripping anxiety, a feeling of internal shakiness, and leg cramps.
Anyone had these symptoms and remember if, and when, they went away or what you did to cope with them?
I live by myself after being divorced and feel frozen a lot of the time. I think I'm suffering from PTSD due to traumatic events of the past.
Thank you!
