Polycystic Ovary Syndrome :: PCOS And Pregnancy
I've recently been diagnoses with PCOS after not having periods for 18 months and the only help I received was being told to lose weight, they didn't even worry about the fact I've not had a period for a year and a half (which worried me when before that I had a period every 28-30 days)
Me and my partner TTC on 17th June (after having a period and my cervix and mucus indicating ovulation) and I took a pregnancy test today (I know it's early but I am so impatient) and it came back negative. But I've been feeling all the symptoms of pregnancy, sickness, headaches, cramping, back pain, areolas darkening, breast tenderness, insomnia (I just can't seem to get comfortable) and I just know something doesn't feel normal as I know my body well.
I just wanted to know what I should do, I worry that if I am pregnant my hormone levels might cause a miscarriage as they only said my testosterone levels were high but didn't tell me how high or if it could cause a difficult pregnancy.
Should I just wait as see if I get a BFP or should I go to the doctors and ask for a blood test.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome :: Pregnancy And Pcos
I am waiting for results to find out if I am pregnant for the first time since finding out I have pcos but one thing is confusing me and always has done, pcos causes your hormonal levels to become imbalanced and making the male hormones become too high so would this not mask the actual levels in your body for tests to pick up??? Because the way I see it and no one will explain it to me, surely it would have to elevate to become "normal" and then have to go even higher before a test will pick up the levels? If someone could answer this for me I would be so grateful as I have wondered this for literally years and now I have loads of symptoms including sickness, a 'pressure' just above my knicker line, constantly hungry (not like me at all!!), extremely emotional and easily start crying (again very much not like me, usually takes a lot to make me cry. ...usually) and always extremely tired. Have been to socs and she said it sounds like I am pregnant even saying the sleepiness was the clincher but I am worried about the test results.

I was diagnosed with pcos about a year ago. My periods had just stopped and I hadn't had one for about a year and a half, they we're always irregular but had never just stopped before . I don't think I have it really bad, (I don't know really), but ever since I was diagnosed I've noticed my weight just escalate and growing more hair in odd places along with the no periods and loads of gross spots on my chin constantly! . I'm 29, 5'7 and weigh 12 stone, which is literally the heaviest I have ever been. Trying to loose weight has been a struggle, so went to the docs and she started me on metformin. Been on it for 2 months now. It seems I am loosing weight slowly but still no periods.
Me and my partner have been together for 7 years now, but I'm still not ready to have a baby, but I'm scared I'm not taking my pcos seriously enough and should get on it incase it never happens?! . I do smoke too which is obviously something I have to conquer before we start trying. Is age 33-34 too late to start trying if you've got pcos?
Also when I was diagnosed I realised I must of had it for years because I had quite a lot of unprotected sex in my teens (bad, I know) and never got pregnant.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome :: Successful Pregnancy Percentage?
The past few night my boyfriend and I have been having unprotected sex. For the first time, I let him ejaculate inside me. Since then we have done it 7 more times. I have no idea if I was ovulating. In total I have let him cum inside me 8 times. I was diagnosed with pcos 8 months ago but I don't think I have is severely. Also, lately I have had some what irregular periods. Does anyone know the percentage of me being or getting pregnant is?
View 5 RepliesPolycystic Ovary Syndrome :: Ovary / Stomach Burning Flare Up
I'm 37 years old. I've been diagnosed with PCOS and Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease) when I was 25. My symptoms include: weight gain, water retention, leg swelling, hair loss, awful hirsutism, bloating, periodically growing cysts, and periodic urinary tract pain.
I don't eat red meat and dairy. I try to limit processed carbohydrates consumption (bread, pasta etc). I sometimes eat soy products but they don't go well with my thyroid. I don't exercise enough.
All the above mentioned symptoms have gotten worse in the last 13 months. I have a "beard" that I need to remove at least twice a week. I went from 125 lbs (56 kg) to 139 lbs (63 kg)! I can't fit into my clothes at all. My calves get so swelled during the day, I gave up wearing boots in winter and wearing skirts, because the look huge.
Right now, I'm having one of my "flairs". My right ovary is burning and so is the rest of my abdomen, urinary tract included.
Doctors are always happy with my results. And oddly enough my blood tests always come back normal. Hormones included, except the estrogen that seems to be on the (acceptably) lower side. I haven't tested my levels of DHT. (My doctors never prescribe that test. Well, they never prescribe the one for estrogen; I paid for that one myself a few weeks ago). Whenever I have an ultrasound they confirm the PCOS as well as the fact that my right ovary is enlarged. But they’re never worried.
My thyroid therapy seems to be off. My endo changed it two months ago, from levothyrox to euthyral (combination of T3 and T4). And I don't feel great. I always feel a lump in my throat. I'm experiencing lack of energy and enthusiasm (too little thyroid hormone), along with occasional heart palpitations (too much thyroid hormone). It was supposed to make me feel better and help the weight loss. It made me feel worse with the mixed symptoms of hypo and hyper thyroid.
I'm thinking about fasting (juice/water), going raw, eating only during 8H a day (mostly veggies nad fish), eliminating gluten all together.

I was diagnosed PCOS around 1 year ago.
I was prescribed a month ago some Metformin and I was advised by the doctors I would have a bleed so far this has not happened for me, can someone tell me if it induced a bleed for them? My periods are extremely irregular my last one was December and before that I don't even know! I am 21 now and i have been with my boyfriend since i was 17 so we are obviously getting to a stage in our life were we want a family of our own and with pcos it seems impossible and it certainly has me questioning that after nearly 4 years of unprotected sex am i EVER going to have a family?
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Symptoms? I May Have It
I've looked into the symptoms of pcos and I think I may have it. I'm 22, 5'7, very slim but in the past year or so I've come out in dread full acne all over my back, shoulders and tops of arms, chest and face. I also have hair all over my stomach which I've had for quite sometime, and now it's growing up to my chest . I feel so hideous!! Saw my GP a few weeks ago as the spots are very sore and she just said it's one of things and refused to prescribe me the pill as I'm not in a proper relationship!!! She didn't look at my back or chest she just looked at my face and said yes there are spots there and printed me off a sheet about pms which is from this website and pretty much said on ya bike!
I know it can affect fertility which I would be livid about.

View 3 RepliesPolycystic Ovary Syndrome :: Bruising After A Period?
I've had scans which show suspected PCOS but my doctor couldn't diagnose is (weird). I have since changed my GP and he has booked me in for another scan. For the past 2 months I've had a small bruise on my left side. Just up and in from my hip bone. You can see a slight bruise on skin too.
I have a very irregular cycle especially since my miscarriage in October.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the bruising after a period?
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome :: With Normal Blood Tests ?
I have recently been told by the doctor that I may have PCOS. However I have a few questions around my recent blood test results and therefore was wondering if anyone could help answer some of my questions.
To give a little bit of information on my background, I have suffered from back and chest acne since I was at high school. I also got it on one cheek on my face which has left scars. My chest and face cleared up by the time I had finished high school but my back acne was still severe and until this day it is still really bad. ( I am now 21). Obviously over the years I have been seeing a dermatologist who has given me many forms of medication and creams. NOTHING WORKED. I have also recently been on Roaccutane. HOWEVER... I have had problems with my cervix and bleeding and never got on with the implant that I had to go on whilst taking Roaccutane because I wasn't allowed on the pill as it cause my cervix to produce abnormal cells and bleed. I therefore was sent for tests and scans and it was then that the hospital sent over a letter to my doctor who said they suspected I have PCOS because of the cysts on my ovaries. The doctor however did not read this until after I suggested to him that as the Roaccutane did not work, maybe there is something causing my acne that we are missing, and it was then that he finally discovered the letter about them suspecting I have PCOS. (Roaccutane apparently does not work with PCOS).
Anyway... this leads me on to my question. I have had the blood tests which was meant to be on the 21st day of my cycle but I have come on my period late and therefore was wondering if this will affect the results? My results came back normal. I haven't had my 3rd day cycle blood tests yet though however. Can your tests still be normal if you have PCOS?

So, I have been diagnosed with Pcos since 2010. I'm 25 years old and my boyfriend and I after 5 years of being together are going to try for a baby.
I don't have periods , probably had about ; since 2010.
My doctor wanted to put me on the pill a couple of years ago but I declined as I wanted a natural period.... Still nothing . How do I know if and when I am ovulating? These are questions I can't ask my doc as he /she always rushes me out the door. My boyfriend and I have had endless amounts of unprotected sex through the years and never fell pregnant.
I know people say ... Yes you can still fall pregnant if you have Pcos ...
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome :: Terrible Acne And Unwanted Hair
I'm 23 and was diagnosed with PCOS this year. From the age of 12 until 21 I only had 2 periods a year but for the past 2 years I have had a period every month sometimes 2 in a month. But I have terrible acne and facial hair which makes me feel horrible as a young female. I feel like I keep finding hair in every place it should not be for a female and it it really brings me down. I think this is what causes the spots on my face because it's where the hair is trying to get through. I may be wrong. My weight is not great but that is because of bad eating habits I've picked up from feeling down and unhappy. I have been doing exercise and trying to eat better.
But the weight is just not shifting. My DR is useless he basically printed off a 6 page leaflet about PCOS which had everything I already ready knew and then said but your not trying for a family right now so ur fine. I just feel like I have no one to talk to as it's an embarrassing problem to just talk to anyone about.
