Epilepsy :: Seizures? Vary From Short Shakes To Full Blown Unconsciousness
I have had what we believe to be seizures for three years now. They vary from short shakes to full blown unconsciousness and full body convulsions. The EEG would cost me over $2,000 USD to have done and I just do not have the money. The seizures started March 16th, 2011 from head trauma sustained at the police department. The fragment of bone has embedded itself into a small part of my brain where if I am touched the wrong way there I will lose consciousness.
View 6 Replies(Age 25-34) Pregnancy :: 38 Weeks, 4 Cm Dilated, Having Sporadic Contractions
Since my 36 week check up I have been dilated 3-4cm. I have been terribly miserable the past couple of weeks, not being able to sleep or get up & down & bend over without getting cramps in my lower abdomen, having constant headaches, back aches plus a lot of pressure & pain in my pelvic floor. I had my 38 week checkup yesterday & am still playing the waiting game for my water to break or my contractions to become more consistent. Now for my question! I wiped earlier after peeing & there was a large milky, brown tinged clot on the toilet paper(yes yuck, ik!). Was this my mucous plug I lost or just a result of having my cervix checked yesterday?
View 3 RepliesSleep Disorders :: Sporadic Fatal Insomnia For No Reason
For the first time in my life, it happened to me last night to go to sleep and to almost not fall asleep AT ALL during the night , and without any real reason to me . I didn't feel tired at all last night, but now I feel absolutely horrible. I tried to take a nap now, but no use, I didn't sleep a single wink.
I was watching TV last night and a movie before bed , which wasn't very intense , but I could have broken my "drowsiness" with it, as my brain was active and I wasn't sleepy at all when I went to bed and didn't feel the need to sleep at all. So after tossing and turning for a couple of hours without falling asleep, I went to the bathroom , to change the air a bit and after returning to bed, after some time, I seem to have felt asleep but only for a couple of minutes (I didn't even remember when I felt asleep), but after that ended I felt totally refreshed, as if I slept the whole day. Later, I had a similar episode, I was asleep for about 25 minutes, and also felt totally refreshed when I "woke up". Now I am dizzy, but not sleepy.
I just googled the symptoms a bit and I found something called sporadic fatal insomnia . I know it is rare and all.........but my symptoms fit that. Nobody in my family, as far as I am aware, has died of anything similar to FFI, but sporadic variant can strike anyone.
Am I going to die from this? I saw a case study of the first case, where a man, at one point couldn't even get 1 hour of sleep and lost it completely. I am so totally freaked out as I also didn't get even 1 hour of sleep last night.
Experiencing Bad Duloxetine Withdrawal
just wondered if anyone else is experiencing the hell that is duloxetine withdrawal?
This is my 5th day of being off the duloxetine all together. Im now on Mirtazapine. I dont know if what Im experiencing is the duloxetine withdrawal or the side effects of Mirtazapine :?
I am so spaced out its unreal. I get brain shocks constantly that really take your breath away and literally stop you from doing anything. I go to get dressed and zap, there it is. I bend down to pick up my jeans, and zap. Turn round to look at something and zap. I ache from limb to limb like a 90 year old with arthritis!! Im exhausted physically and mentally and I am just unable to do anything. I haven't been out of the house for 8 days, and haven't got dressed for 6!
I'm so sick of this med roundabout. I've been ill for little over a year now and have sampled 8 delightful anti deps, 3 anti psych and 2 relaxants. I feel like a junkie. Every time I move onto a new tablet, I have to go through some sort of withdrawal. These meds are supposed to be non addictive, but I'm beginning to think otherwise. They said that Valium wasn't addictive when that came out, now look.
I'm just so sick and tired of this whole roller coaster. As if it's not bad enough being depressed and out of your mind with worry and fear in the first place, but to then take tablets that are supposed to help the situation, but actually just add to your problems!
Shingles :: Experiencing Pain In The Right Side Of My Neck?
I am a 20 year old female that has been experiencing pain in the right side of my neck that radiates down my right arm to my fingers for a week or so. This is often accompanied by a burning sensation under my right armpit and down my arm. Today this has been replaced by a tingling sensation on my chest, jaw, arm and occasionally my upper abdomen. This is again all on my right side. I also have a headache. Could this be shingles?
View 1 RepliesMultiple Sclerosis :: Experiencing A Lot Of Hair Loss
I am experiencing a lot of hair loss. I always have the beautician thin my hair out since it is very thick and she said are you losing hair because of your medication? My hair was very long and I could not go to get a haircut and just assumed it was because of this. Now I got a haircut and notice I am losing hair all over the house. I am using copaxone and have been on it for over 20 years. I have recently been to my neurologist and they have said only a few individuals experience hair loss and did not recommend anything. What can I do?

View 2 RepliesHyperthyroidism :: Experiencing Symptoms Despite Medication And Normal Bloodworks?
Before I ask my question I would like to stress that I easily get scared hearing about disease, so I am asking that please, no one begin telling of anyone having the symptoms I have and then it turns out to be xyz terrible disease that they died from, because then I will just get so extremely scared. My question is strictly regarding hyperthyroidism.
I am hoping someone can calm me I am new to the forums and new to hyperthyroidism. I have been on medication for 2,5 months and mostly feel just fine, but in the early mornings, from about 05 am, I feel symptoms, which wake me up- heart racing, feeling anxious, a little shaky, preventing me from going back to sleep. It seems to peak at about 07.30 am, and then gradually lessens until it is completely gone at about 09-10 am. But during my period and ovulation and also if I have not slept well (I suffer from insomnia) it seems to linger somewhat longer, sometimes through the afternoon or even the entire day.And this scares me, because I am medicated and my bloodworks say I'm within normal range.
One doctor said yes, I can be feeling symptoms despite medication/normal bloodworks and then another doctor said no I cannot, so now I don't know what to think :'(
The doctor who said I cannot be experiencing symptoms suggested it is mental anxiety, but that just does not match what I am experiencing, because if I get anxious about something, there is always a trigger that will get my mind going and then my body follows. But this is right opposite- it is my body that starts going and then my mind follows. It feels just like the symptoms I had before I was diagnosed and got treatment, it does not feel like getting anxious about something, it starts in my body, not my mind.
Coeliac Disease :: Gluten-free Diet- Still Experiencing Joint Pain
I have an 8 year old who was diagnosed with Coeliac disease last May and has been following a gluten-free diet ever since. Her symptoms previously were pins and needles in hands and feet, mouth ulcers, calcium marks on teeth, bloating, aching joints and bones, and small pink spots on the face. She is also quite small for her age. Her symptoms have cleared up, However now and then she gets sick if we have problems with cross-contamination.
My problem is that she is still experiencing a degree of joint and bone pain. About 2 weeks ago was the last time she got sick because of cross contamination, but last night she couldn't sleep because of the pain. Is this normal - does anyone else experience this?

I have just started on the 30m Mirtazapine and it's my 3rd night taking them ans i have read up on a lot of different forums that there are patients gaining weight off these? well i would like to know what the odds are of gaining weight because i have always had problems with weight gain, i can never put on any weight, no matter how much i eat, i have a fast metabolism and i am wondering, will the mirtazapine surpass my high metabolism. also in some cases i've heard it slows your metabolism down too.. but it would actually be a benefit for me to gain some extra weight.
View 5 RepliesMirtazapine :: Tapering Off Mirtazapine - Spinning Myself In Circles
For the first time in a very long time, I'm finally in a good enough place to make the step in coming off my Anti-depressant. I've been on Mirtazapine 45mg for the last 4/5 years and before that a string of various of medications.
Despite my anxiety been kind of excessive at the moment, after a discussion with my GP, he was happy to let me begin tapering down the dose. The problem is with my anxiety I feel it mainly physically rather than mentally so it makes me a little oversensitive to any changes that take place in my body.
I guess what I am searching for is some reassurance so I can stop driving myself up the wall, exhausting google search on mirtazapine withdrawal. 6 nights ago I started my first reduction so 45 mg to 30mg. In all honesty it's not been that bad, a few waves of nausea, headaches and random aches and pains. Those I was expecting so don't mind too much. The trouble is that for the last 3 days, I've found myself a little short of breath for most of the day. It's nothing that's outwardly noticeable at the moment, but it's there and is slightly concerning. Has anyone else experienced this when tapering?
I'm kind of freaked out a little because one of my fears that's arisen since the mirtazapine is the that i will develop random allergies and my brain is wondering if I've suddenly developed an allergy to my meds (ridiculous, I know!) The other thing is that the rest of my family has had either viral chest problems lately so maybe I've just picked up that and it's a coincidence? Or it could just be the anxiety.
I'm totally spinning myself in circles at the moment so any wise words are most welcome at this point. If I know it is just withdrawal and nothing that can actually hurt me then I'm fine with whatever effects it throws at me.

View 8 RepliesErectile Dysfunction :: Not Full Erection When Jack Off
I am currently 16 years old and I have recently begun to realize some worrying things about my penis. It doesn't have all of the feeling in it now and sometimes when I'm sitting down, it goes numb like when your leg falls asleep. I first tried jacking off in 7th grade(around four years ago) and have been doing it almost daily sometimes more than twice a day up until recently. Now when I jack off I don't need to have a full erection for an orgasm. I can't even get fully erect anymore. It gets about 75% and then stays for like a minute and then when it stops getting attention, it gets soft so quickly. I am very worried because me and my girlfriend tried sex and I couldn't do it because I couldn't stay hard. She got me to the 75% hard like when I jack off and then whenever we thought it was time to penetrate her I went soft almost immediately after she stopped touching it or when I stopped so I couldn't achieve sex. My penis looks healthy and I feel no pain or anything.
View 1 RepliesErectile Dysfunction :: Can't Hold Full Erection
I am 17 years old, a heterosexual male. I run cross country and track, and ski, paddleboard, mtn bike, and generally get a lot of exercise. My diet isn't outstanding, but it is decent, and I get a decent serving of veggies and meats, as well as breads and fruits and all. I don't smoke marijuana in general, and have drank a few times with friends, responsibly, an all that. I am a good high-achieving student, taking lots of hard classes, but this leads to only 6-7 hours sleep per night and a significant amount of academically created stress.
Masturbation is common for me--I have a pretty strong sex drive. Probably once or twice a day, 10-12 times a week. Pornographic material isn't uncommon for me - maybe twice a week - it is usually imagery or comics (for some reason I prefer that to video). I have been dating a great girl for about seven months, and we haven't had successful sex. She is a bit prudish-she doesn't give oral and reluctantly will give handjobs, but is ok with vaginal sex. I will get erect on and off during foreplay and making out, and will get fully hard just hanging out with her (around in the house making out or grabbing her butt and all) but as we get close to serious sex, my hardon becomes less reliable. Then it gets bad when I try to put on the condom - I lose the boner almost completely, and can't get it back beyond 3/4 mast. She is very tight (basically a virgin) and I won't be able to get in unless fully hard. This seems to happen when I am alone as well. I will practice putting on a condom but will get pretty soft once it goes on. Also masturbating I will be able to get off when only full but not rock hard-not at the level needed for intercourse.
I think is partially stress and anxiety, nerves; I overthink things. I have only tried to go for sex and failed like described above around three months ago. She was understanding, but since then I have avoided sex so that can't happen again. So that was 3 months ago, and I am worried that I won't ever be able to successfully try again because I will always remember my inability to perform and then lock myself in a cycle where I can't get hard because I am scared I can't. It know it is psychological but I can't get over it. Should I go for viagra or something?? She is pretty straight-laced so attempting to drink a beer or two beforehand to "loosen up" isn't really a good idea, and I don't think that's a great idea anyways. PLEASE HELP I AM WORRIED that I will get a chronic anxiety-induced ED through the senior year of high school and college that is terrifying! I get crap from my bros about not banging my girl and it is a serious issue for me and make s a ton of stress for my entire life!

View 7 RepliesBones :: Re-Injuring A Broken Tibia In A Full Leg Cast?
About two weeks ago I had a nasty tangle with a rusty old swing set, and to make a long story short, the swing set kicked my butt and gave me a spiral fracture in my tibia (about halfway down my shin) and a hairline fracture through my fibula (right up near my knee.)
I've got the sucker casted and have been staying off of it, but recently had a nasty scare. I fell off my front porch (about three feet from the ground, which is solid concrete where I was sitting,) and only managed to keep from seriously hurting myself because I knocked my poor cousin over as he was walking by.
Again, I'm fine, but it got me to wondering: How likely is it that, had my cousin not been there, I could have broken my leg despite it being in a thigh-to-toe cast?
