Hypothyroidism :: Extremely Bad Anxiety And Panic Attacks

I would be grateful if anyone could offer me advice. I am 27 years old and was diagnosed as having an overactive thyroid at the beginning of March which was due to having Graves disease. Since then I have been on 20 mg of Carbimazole alongside beta blockers. However apart from a few days I have not felt well since then. I am exhausted every day, I have heart palpitations and often feel dizzy. I feel like I am constantly living in some sort of fog, I know that sounds strange! I have extremely bad anxiety and panic attacks, which is the prime reason I first went to the doctors as they came out of the blue.

These have still not gone away and it makes getting out of the house very hard, although I dont have the energy to do so anyway!

I saw a consultant last week, who had no time for me and seemed to be in a hurry, he didnt ask me any of my symptoms simply checked whether my hands were shaky and then told me to have a blood test.

He then e mailed me to say that I was now under active and to take Levothyroxine as well as Carbimazole. I just want my normal life back I was constantly on the go and now I barely leave the house! I am at the end of my tether I feel like its all in my head Has any one else been similar to this?

Hypothyroidism? Low Free T4 Normal Low TSH

I have been having low free T4 (9 pmol/L), but normal although on the lower end TSH (1.69 mIU/L).

My doctor has put me on 75mg/day synthroid, because his diagnostic is hypothyroidism. However, I understand that hypothyroidism is normally associated with low T4, but high TSH.

Based on what I have read, it seems that a low T4 associated with a normal TSH may be linked to issues with the pituitary gland (and not the thyroid) or issues with binding agents.

Is hypothyroidism and the use of synthroid indicated in my case?

Thyroid :: High TSH, Normal Free T4 - Fatigue, Depression, Feeling Cold

I am a 51 year old female and had a physical last week with my general practitioner because it has been a long time. It included blood tests. One test was about the thyroid and I've got conflicting information about the result.

The report says:
TSH Reflex to Free T4
TSH RFLX is 8.25 - and is high, the normal range is shown as 0.40-4.50

T4, FREE
Thyroxine, Free, Direct - 0.8 - and is in range, range is shown as 0.8-1.8

I've done some research and it looks like this combination falls in the hypothyroidism range. However, my doctor says it is fine because the T4 FREE number is in range. There is no family history of thyroid problems. I'm concerned because I have some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism (fatigue, depression, feeling cold).

Does this sound right to those of you who have experience with thyroid disease? Should I see an endocrinologist?

Thyroid Disorders :: Elevated Free T3 With Normal TSH And Normal Free T4

My son had some blood work done due to chronic diarrhea among many other things (he's on the autism spectrum, ADD, sweetest kid ever-had to throw that in) and we were trying to rule out celiac and who knows what else. Anyway his TSH and Free T4 were normal, but his Free T3 was slightly high. We rechecked it 4 weeks later and it's still just slightly high, with the other numbers being normal. His doctor thinks we shouldn't worry and should just monitor, I'm just looking for any advice if anyone has seen this because I keep reading that typically Free T3 is high when TSH is low?

1/18/16 test results
TSH: 2.44 UIU/ML (ref range 0.600-4.840)
T4,FREE(DIRECT): 1.48 NG/DL (ref range 0.90-1.67)
TRIIODOTHYRONINE,FREE,SERUM: 5.5 (ref range 2.7-5.2)

2/20/2016 test results

Thyroid :: Tsh Low, Free T4 High, Free T3 Midrange

Here are my lab results from 2/7/14:
tsh- .028 range- .45-4.5
t4 free direct- 1.86 range-.82-1.77
t3 free serum- 3.2 range- 2.0- 4.4

Last year:
lab results from 3/26/13:
tsh- .096 range- .45- 4.5
t4 free direct- 1.53 range- .82- 1.77
t3 free serum- 3.1 range- 2.0-4.4

It looks like I might benefit with the addition of t3 meds. (cytomel) to lower my free t4 and raise my free t3. I feel fine, and anytime I've tried to lower my dose of levothyroxine (.125) even a little bit (.112), I get brain fog, lethargy and GI symptoms. I've been on the same dose for 13 years and my tsh has been low since I started medication. I've only recently requested the free t3 & free t4. My main concern with adding cytomel is that it will further reduce my tsh & the dr will be concerned. This is my 3rd dr in the 7 years since I moved south & every one has been concerned about bone density & heart issues. Any suggestions when I talk to the dr? btw- no hyper symptoms :-) Thanks!

Thyroid :: Low TSH, High Free T4, Low Free T3

I had RAI done long ago and been on Synthroid 175. My test always come back with low TSH, high free T4, and low Free T3.

My last results were 1 week ago...
TSH .012
Free T4 1.48 (range .52-1.21)
Free T3 2.09 (range 2.20-3.80)

I have depression and would like get my thyroid ranges in a more normal profile to see if it had a positive effect on the depression.

I have tried cytomel which made me feel hyper at only 5mcg, but only tried it for a few days...

Thanks for any suggestions....

Anyone - Gluten Free And Has Gotten Rid Of Hypothyroidism?

Hypothyroidism :: Success With Going Gluten Free?

I am also coping with hypothyroidism and I've been searching for the best possible ways to get my health (and life) back. The doctor I have been working with has made the suggestion to go on a gluten free diet. She didn't go into great detail about it, but mentioned that she'd like for me to nix the gluten. I have also read numerous times on the internet about how gluten is a thyroid destroyer. I have tried countless times to go GF, but boy is it hard. I tested negative for gluten and dairy allergies but my doc (a naturopath) was still adamant that I give up the gluten. I feel like such a failure because I only manage to stay gluten free for about 2 weeks at a time until I cave and have something like a slice of pizza or some pasta or bread. There are gluten free alternatives to these items but sometimes they are hard to obtain or are a pain to cook. I have a very healthy diet for the most part but I've found that removing gluten entirely isn't easy. I've also lost weight while going gluten free, which I did NOT want to do. I'm actually already a little bit underweight.

Does anyone have any tips for me? Has anyone out there successfully gone gluten free long-term, and did it affect your condition in a positive way? I feel like a failure because I keep trying to give it up but it never works out in the long run. I always slip up.

Hypothyroidism :: Gluten Free And On Levothyroxine?

I've made an appt with a naturopath next week as I'm having an increase in bad symptoms since starting levothyroxine 4mths ago and cannot stand it any longer.

I'm expecting to be told to go gluten free. However there's corn/maize starch (contains gluten) in the meds so I'm wondering about those of you who are gluten free - what type of meds are you on?

Sertraline :: 100 Mg For Panic Attacks

I first started sertraline in 2012 after getting pnd and fluoxetine not suiting me, then I stopped sertraline gradually in march 2014 as I felt I no longer needed them. First few weeks I was fine, then panic attacks came back awful maybe 7/8 a day for no reason at all :-( In august i went back on sertraline and started on 25mg and it has took Me all of this time to gradually build up to 100 mg due to anxiety. I have been on 100mg for 3 days now and suffering awful headaches, feel as though i'm going to fall over when I walk,(this scares the life out of me) and chest pains, I can deal with these as I have for over 4 years. Its the new symptom of feeling I have excess saliva and swallowing all the time, also upper stomach pains that is worrying me. I have lost weight and have no appetite but the actual panic attacks have subsided almost. Just wondered if anyone is on 100mg for panic and if they feel normal.

Hypothyroidism - Gluten Free Diet :: Antibodies Almost Quadrupled

Can someone please help, my anti-TPO antibodies (range 0-34) have gone from 33.5 in March to 141 in August despite being told to go gluten-free and did so consistently for 3 months? My endocrinologist said going gluten-free would definitely sort the antibodies out. I am on 50mcg T4.
