Total Hip Replacement :: Water Retention - Urge To Pee
I wonder if anyone out there has experienced anything like this. Briefly I started off almost 2 years ago with what the Docs thought was Vaginal Atrophy but after taking HRT for a year or so and no change, I came off the HRT. Some months later I self diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis. Most irritating whatever the collection of symptoms are known as. Thankfully though I don't get all the symptoms at once, although there is no set pattern to them. One of the worst symptoms is urgency to wee. In ordinary circumstances, I would get this strong urge and easily get to the bathroom in time.
However last Sunday I came home from hospital following a total hip replacement! In the early hours of Monday morning I got that severe urge to wee and struggled to get out of bed. I half fell at the side of the bed in sheer panic and ended up with my right leg with the new hip holding me up as my other leg had gone out behind me. Such pain and to make it worse I was wetting myself! So shocked. Anyway I managed to sort myself out but since then I've not been able to wee properly during the day, almost like I am retaining urine. Then I have to get up twice in the night to empty my bladder. I get no normal urge to wee during the day either.
I read up about Fowler's Syndrome the other day and it pretty much describes me. It's about your sphincter not being able to relax properly. I'm wondering if the shock in the early morning last Monday has resulted in my sphincter tightening or something and it relaxes at night when I'm in bed, so I'm able to wee normally again? Anyone else experienced anything like this? I just want my waterworks to come back to normal. At least I can get out of bed easier and quicker now so that's better if nothing else.
Hormone Replacement Therapy :: Any Feedback On HRT?
I was wondering if some of you can give me your feedback on HRT. My gynecologist would like to put me on Prometrium 100 mg and Estradiol 1 mg. I have not had a period for 10 months and had my hormones checked, I am perimenopausal. I sleep 3 hours a night, hot flashes and anxiety with ache muscles. I am thinking about going on HRT and trying this. Please let me know if anyone is taking what I have been prescribed and how it worked or suggestions on being on HRT and how it changed you from the symptoms I am having. My motivation for life has depleted and I want me back.

View 4 RepliesMenopause :: Estrogen Hormone Replacement Therapy
Estrogen hormone replacement therapy is now less scary than it was in 2002, and more women like myself are willing to take a second look at it. As I've said, I honestly think it is beneficial for a lot of reasons. I personally use estrogen to help with vaginal dryness, brain fog, short-term memory issues, and to help with insomnia.
I honestly did not realize for many years how helpful it was with these symptoms. Of course, for me, these symptoms didnât really manifest themselves to any significant degree until I reached actual menopause. Once we reach menopause (12 consecutive months without a menstrual cycle), our estrogen production in our body has decreased significantly. Hence, vaginal dryness, brain fog, short-term memory issues, and oh, the insomnia!
Hormone Replacement Therapy :: Bioidentical Better Than Standard HRT?
I have read that bio-identical hormone replacement therapy is safer than the standard DRT which is derived from the urine of pregnant horses.
However people interested in this therapy need to be aware that they must still take a version manufactured by a trusted pharmaceutical firm. Apparently there is something going the rounds now where the so-called bio-identical hormones are compounded in a pharmacy. This could be extremely risky, worse than standard HRT. I don't know what countries might be affected, the warning I read was in newsletter originating in the US, so hopefully it isn't even something most of us need to worry about, but thought I should bring up the topic as it has been mentioned a few times lately by those of us interested in finding safe ways to improve our bone density.

Tried patches (that eventually became allergic too) and now on Angeliq tablets. These give me headaches and i can't shift the stomach fat. I eat healthy and walk an hour a day with my dog. Thinking of coming off HRT, Has anyone else decided to ditch the HRT?
View 4 RepliesHormone Replacement Therapy Doctor? HRT Clinic MD Or An Endocrinlogist MD?
Are hormone replacement therapy doctors are doing the job of an endocrinologist, or is it the same, or is there an advantage of one or the other?
Since year 2000, at the age of 50, doctors and blood tests I have told me I have low testosterone?
(at the time I went to an Internal Medicine doctor for low energy and exhaustion and he said testosterone was below 200)
I am looking into finding a doctor that will prescribe something more effective than a 150 mg testosterone cypionate injection 1 x each 2 weeks, that I get from a conservative family MD.
I recently looked into getting help through the Internet for hormone replacement therapy.
At this point, I am not sure what to do.
Does anyone have good solid advise, not strongly influenced by money profit?
I have read some about the side effects, however, can anyone advise me or comment on any of the following medicines recommended for me by the online HRT clinic doctor?
Here is the list:
150mg testosterone cypionate 1 x a week
Anastrozole 0.5 po 2x/week
HCG 500 IU SQ 2x/week
Sermorelin Forte 18mg for GH deficiency
DHEA 5mg
Fish oil 3,000mg
vitamin D3 5,000IU/day with vitamin K2 45 mcg take with fatty healthy food.
This online HRT Clinic cannot use medical insurance, because of the prescriptions.
I have not found any negative feedback on this Clinic, as I have with some others.
At this time, unless something else comes up, I am going to get an appointment with an Endocrinologist.
However, my concern is that doctors will not prescribe medicines and doses of medicines, (medicines that will work for me) that are not approved by the FDA and that are not covered by insurance companies.
Now, I feel exploited by the online HRT MD's, because of the costs, and cut short by regular MD's, because of the FDA laws and the insurance companies.
My other position is (the position some are counting on) to pay whatever it takes to feel better, and I will if I cannot find another solution. I want to increase the quality of life for myself and others, without anymore physical suffering/mistakes, and without anymore financial suffering/mistakes.
Hormone Replacement Therapy :: Benefits Of Estradiol And Progesterone?
I'm new to hormone therapy and just today started 1 mg estradiol once daily and low dose progesterone. I am 28 and my last blood work shows that my hormones are very low. I have been basically going through menopause..although my cycle had remained somewhat normal until this last month.. I have experienced weight loss.. and I have trouble keeping weight on..mood swings and hot flashes are present..and a General just not feeling well is the biggest complaint I have .. I would like to ask if anyone could explain to me what I can expect from the treatment? What benefits might i see as a result of taking these two medications..
View 2 RepliesHormone Replacement Therapy - Lack Of Sleep (menopausal For 12 Months)
I have been menopausal for 12 months or maybe longer so the doc thinks. I turned 50 last August and thought I could deal with all the symptoms but its driving me crazy now! Hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, anxiety......but the worse for me is the lack of sleep! This is awful! Its making me like a zombie and my eyes are black!! Such a vicious circle. Today I have had a long talk with my husband and we have talked about HRT! It makes me so scared about taking it but I am feeling so awful that I'm now considering it. Any ideas of a good low dose HRT that I can talk over with the doc. How has it been for you taking HRT?
View 60 RepliesToo Much Libido - Killing Sex Drive By Anti-Androgen Hormone Replacement Therapy?
I asked my doctor to prescribe me Anti-androgen (Provera) to stop libido, but the doctor refused both the psychiatrist and the GP. She told me that there are side effects including major breast growth and loss of muscles, and she also told me that it's against their legislation to prescribe anti-androgen for reasons no other than prostate cancer treatment.
So i decided that i will buy these drugs from online, but they all failed me because they were no other than remedies, and not actual drugs. I think the only option for me is to tell the doctor "I want to become a girl, and that i need anti-androgen and estrogen to grow feminine characteristics to satisfy my depression" or "I nearly rapped a girl out there twice and need anti-androgen or any other luteinizing hormones to kill my libido, lest i end up in jail". I don't want to go to the doctor and ask like i did before saying that i want drugs to kill off libido for religious reasons. Besides, Islam prohibits masterbation. And masterbation is inevitable considering the amount of testosterone in a 21 year old's body.
Is there anybody out there who has successfully been able to convince their doctor to give them drugs to suppress their libido? If yes then please leave a comment i want to know how. It's driving me insane. I need drugs NOW!
Sjogren's Syndrome :: Hormone Replacement Therapy Increases Symptoms (dry Eyes)?
Has anyone heard that HRT increases SS symptoms? I'm on a HRT in the form of a low dose patch. I've been experiencing dry/irritated eyes and read that HRT can make your eyes dryer in addition to the other risks associated w/SS.
View 14 RepliesHormone Replacement Therapy? Low Testosterone Levels, Girlish Looks, No Manly Body
I'm a 22 year old male guy. I am worried about my body and some aspects of my behavior. For my age, I consider myself not having a manly body. I have thin muscles and my breasts are kinda large, not a lot tho. During puberty, I didn't experience many changes. I have almost no facial hair or body hair. My genitals didn't grow a lot and my voice didn't got that deeper either. Additionally, I'm usually tired and I lack a lot of energy most of the time. One more thing that worries me is that my body language is not manly by nature. My movements are kinda feminine even though I don't mean them to be like that. For those reasons, I have started to think that my testosterone levels are low. I know that need to have my hormones levels tested, but before doing that I'd like to have some questions answered.
Is my situation even related to low testosterone?
If so, can a hormone replacement therapy change my body and physical movements?
Water Retention With Mirtazapine
Just started on Mirtazapine and my feet and ankles are swelling up. Is there anything that can help?
View 1 RepliesWater Retention From Mirtazapine
Does anybody suffer from water retention on this med? I currently taking 45mg and only drink tea or bottled water, but my face is puffy and my knees and ankles have ballooned up to the fact that I feel I cannot bend my ankles, I am willing to put up with this as the med is helping loads, I have tried herbal diuretics that don't seem to help, and when I do go for a pee its like nothing comes out, is this what causes the weight gain as I have not had the munchies like so many people seem to have on hear.
Also I am terrified of taking the 45mg tablet, I have been taking 30 + 15 mg, has anybody noticed a difference, will my good sleep go? who and I do sweat a lot, night and day.
