Hepatitis :: I Have A Reactive HBsAg
I am a fresh graduate and I was looking for a job then found one, I was hired and before I could start they wanted to get my medical result first. They told me I won't be able to get the job anymore since my result in HBsAg was reactive. In the medical it says "3516.26 S/CO; The Cut-Off value reported for this assay cannot be correlated to an end-point titer; rechecked and verified." Is my Hep B chronic? And can I still get a job even though I am now a carrier of this disease? I am really depressed now it's like I've wasted 4 years of studying

View 26 RepliesHepatitis C Post Treatment :: CRP (c-reactive Protein)
My sister in law, a very good doctor who has always given me sensible advice when I have asked, suggested I get my CRP checked. CRP is apparently a marker for inflammation in the body, although lupus and rheumatoid arthritis do not always trigger it.
I know I sound like a broken record, but I really think a lot of post-interferon syndrome can be explained by body-wide inflammation - chronic fatigue arises from an inflamed brain; psoriasis is inflamed skin; arthritis is inflamed joints; fibromyalgia is inflamed muscle tissue; vasculitis is inflamed blood vessels, etc.
Our immune systems were amped up by the drugs, and they never settled down again quite right. The drugs induce autoimmune disorders that can effect every system of our body.
If I eat bagels and cream cheese (I love bagels and cream cheese) for two or three days in a row, and throw in a pizza, all my inflammatory symptoms get worse, including depression and fatigue. My ankles swell. My psoriasis gets worse. My joints start aching worse. My fingers start trembling and twitching spastically. I had nothing like this before treatment.
So anyway, if anyone cares to follow this theory, it means eating a non-inflammatory diet - no pizza, no fast food, skip the sugar, read In Defense of Food. The more you want to live, the better you will eat. If anyone cares to follow this theory and is having their blood drawn anyway, be sure and get CRP checked. My sis-in-law says it's very inexpensive test. I'd love to hear of any correlation or thoughts on this subject.
Birth Control And C-reactive Protein
So I've been having a lot of digestion issues, and finally went and got some blood-work done. What came back was that I had high levels of C-Reactive Protein....18 to be exact.
Now I know this indicates theres some sort of inflammation in my body, but I was also reading that birth control could increase the levels of CRP. I was just curious if it could really effect it THAT much. Normal levels are 0-4 and mine are 18...that just seems pretty high.
Im 20 years old and am currently taking ortho tri cyclen, and occasionally take vyvanse and ambien.
Is It Possible To Get Tetanus Even If Vaccinated?
About 3 or 4 days ago i was in taiwan (thursday in taiwan) i was biking and hit a rusty railing and got scraped on my leg. I'm back in the U.S. now and i got a Tdap in 2007. However, since yesterday i have had a stiff jaw, but I'm not sure if this is because or because of the fact that i have a bad teeth clenching/grinding habit or maybe i have tetanus. When i was on the plane back I clenched my teeth pretty hard in my sleep(about 2 days ago) and i had some tooth pain and now my jaw has been stiff for about a day. I'm not sure if i had been clenching my teeth more in my sleep since then. I'm reluctant to go to the doctor because i do not have health insurance.
View 1 RepliesHepatitis B :: Viral Load Still Around 200 IU After 3 Years Of Viread
I have been on Viread for three years and my viral load never goes undetectable. The viral load went down in the past two years. However, it has been up and down in the range of 100 to 300 IU in the past year. It seems that it will never go down to undetectable. The test for mutation failed three times because of very low viral load. Am I non-responder to Viread? Should I switch to another treatment? Should I be concerned?

View 4 RepliesBirth Control :: 50 , No Periods 4 Years - Still Take Pill?
I had hormones tested and I am in menopause. I have not had a period in 4 years. Only been off the pill for a month after being on it for a long time. I am told I should still use condoms for birth control, which myself and hubby don't like at all. Chances of getting pregnant may not be likely but can happen. I really prefer to use nothing, but I don't want to end up with a pregnancy at this age. Anyone in their 40's and 50's have gone through this? What was your choice of birth control when the doctor takes you off the pill? Should I not worry about it and use zero protection? Do you think my doctor is being ridiculous?
View 6 RepliesBirth Control :: Spotting After 2 Years On Pill?
I have endometriosis and have been on continuous birth control for the past 2 years. In this time I haven't had any bleeding.
However, about a month ago I started spotting, then it turned to bleeding which has required the use of feminine hygiene products every day.
I want to take a break from my birth control and give my body a chance to refresh.. I just want to know - will I remain protected from pregnancy if I take a week off (as I have not at all)?

View 3 RepliesBirth Control :: Mirena For 2 Years And Now Unable To Get Pregnant
Getting pregnant was never a problem for me. Simple, he'd look at me, and bam I have two children. That is until I had the Mirena (5yr) left it in for 7 yrs due to no insurance at that time. I am now 31 and had the mirena out for over a year with no luck getting pregnant. There are times I feel like I am pregnant I get sore breasts, cramping but then I start my period. This month however I am having the same symptoms and my period is late. I knew I was ovulating BC of the egg white like discharge(sorry if tmi)that was about 14 days ago I took a test this morning and result was negative. Maybe i don't understand how all this works completely lol idk but my periods are either at the end of the month or the first of the month. There's no way i could be having symptoms of pregnancy this early and its just my period warning sign. I'm starting to think that leaving the mirena in for 2 years over the time it was supposed to come out and not having periods in 7 years has done damage to my body.
View 1 RepliesBirth Control :: NuvaRing Started Spotting After Years Of Use
I've been spotting while on NuvaRing which is odd for me because I've been using this for years with no problems. I went to the doctor in the middle of November to renew my prescription. They gave me a pregnancy test which came out negative. I had sex once in October and haven't since then.
In December my period came on a Wednesday and I forgot to get a new ring to put in to skip my period. I put in the ring the same day my period started, Wednesday, but I'm supposed to put in a new one Sundays. Anywho had a regular period but last week I had slight cramping for a day and some spotting. This week the same thing. The spotting is only lasting one day. What the heck is going on? Just old blood?
Birth Control :: Nuvaring - Missed Two Periods In Two Years
I have been on Nuvaring for two years now. I follow the directions and take it out when I need to. I removed it in May of 2014 and I have missed two periods since then. I have taken 4 pregnancy tests and all of them have been negative. I am not experiencing any pregnancy symptoms, nor have I had unprotected sex since the removal. Any advice as to what is going on? I've been trying to get an appointment set up with my doctor but they won't call back
