View 40 RepliesGeneral Depression :: Difficulty Doing Anything
I am 4 months into my third depression in 30 years and this time along with all the usual symptoms there is a really debilitating problem with doing anything. This is not just demotivation but it feels physical. I will try and explain each activity is made up of individual movements so making a cup of tea involves standing up, walking to the kitchen, picking up the kettle, walking to the tap, turning the tap on, etc, etc. Well, each time one movement ends I have great difficulty moving onto the next one. There appears to be a block which takes huge amounts of willpower to overcome only to be back there again after the next movement. Often I will get so far and then give up. It has got to the point when I can spend all day unable to motivate myself to do anything because things just seem so pointless and hard work. Going to work at the moment is impossible and I am off sick but I now worry about how on earth I am going to go back. I have just been forcing myself until a couple of weeks back when I just gave up and rang in sick. After the initial relief that I could rest, the guilt kicked in and what I'd hoped would be rest is now anxiety riddled. Does anyone have any idea what on earth this troublesome symptom is? It feels like there is lubrication missing in my brain as if it's seized up. It's really horrible.

View 4 RepliesPregnancy :: Failed Ivf, Thinking About De Ivf
Hello girls! I’m new here. This forum and your stories inspire me to move forward. My dh and I have been ttc for a very long time. Unfortunately all our tries give no result. We’ve gone through lots of treatments. We had 5 failed cycles of ivf. The last one we had last year. After last failure I was broken. I understand that all blame is on me. Condition of my health doesn’t allow us to conceive naturally. Even ivf didn’t help! Last couple of months were so stressful. I blame myself and all these feelings tear me up from inside. I can talk to no one about my emotions and thoughts. I’m of that kind who keeps everything inside. That’s why I decided to come here and talk with you, girls. I think no one will understand me better then you. I’m 38 yo and I don’t want to waste more time. Recently my dh and I went for a walk. We wanted to spend some time together, talk and try to forget about all troubles. We live with his parents and it’s actually hard to do that at home. His mother only makes everything worse. She openly blames me that she still doesn’t have grandchildren. And she’s right! But it would be much easier to survive my failure if she was supportive. Sorry I wandered off the point. So we went on ‘a date’. We went to some family cafe. There were families with kids, who were playing around and laughing. And I looked at my husband… He looked at those kids with such sadness and sorrow. I know how much he wants to have children. I also dream to become a mother. Every night I imagine how it would be if everything was ok with me and we had normal family! But I really have no idea how to fix my problem… I talked with my doctor last week. He recommended to make ivf with donor egg. He told that usual ivf unlikely to give results. I think that I should use this opportunity! But where should I start? What should I look for? Girls, please help!
View 7 RepliesMirtazapine May Impair Your Thinking Or Reactions
On Sunday mornings at 10.30 I organise a French conversation group. Saturday night I took my mirtazapine at half past midnight.
At the group I found that I hardly recall the words that I wanted to say. As an example I wanted to think of the word for yesterday - hier. I always have a problem remembering that - I know it is either higher or demain (tomorrow) but if I can't think of the two words in the first place I can't juggle them. When you tell me the word, I know it.
Of course, conversation requires the instant use of words, In English, we can think of alternative or simpler words for the same thing but if one can't think of the basic word it is very difficult. Effectively one is left saying one can't think of the word.
[url] ... that it effectively says that "Mirtazapine may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert".
Effectively "effects common with psychiatric medications (e.g. constipation, confusion, loss of coordination, memory loss)".
When I have important meetings I don't take it the night before.
Last night I dropped off to sleep and woke up at 2.30 and therefore didn't take it.)(

View 12 RepliesGeneral :: Sensitive Gag Reflex
Ok I'm 19 years old and I think my health is good. Anyways, my gag reflex started one day after I was eating and I just looked at the food I was eating and suddenly didn't want it. At first it was just when I would brush my teeth and after using mouthwash, I would usually cough and heave or spit out water. And now I have noticed that after I eat, I can feel my gag reflex. Like I can feel that there is food stuck there (it's probably not, but I can feel something nasty there), and one time I touched my throat (outside neck area) and I wanted to vomit. Now I have an issue sometimes with the front of my shirt collar touching my neck area, because I feel suffocated and it makes the food feeling even worse.
I do salt gargling sometimes, but I still have it! Any help? I also get stomach aches more frequently now (I have gotten 3 so far in these past months and have thrown up.)

My partner will be going in for minor surgery in a few weeks and was offered the choice of local or general anaesthesia for the op - she opted for general. View 2 RepliesGeneral Blurriness - Vitreous Detachment
I had a recent episode of flashes (left eye), so I went to the doctor and he did a thorough exam, and concluded that I was experiencing vitreous detachment (I'm 67). He explained that the flashes would soon stop, which they have. I only use reading glasses, but I've noticed some deterioration in my distance vision so I asked him about some correction. He gave me some contact lenses to try. The other day, I put them in, and I noticed that my left eye seemed worse with the contact lens in, so I took it out and just wore the right one. Now, I am more aware of some vision impairment (general blurriness) in my left eye for both reading and distance.

So just wondering if you ladies are having boys and if you are going to get them circumcised or not.
My husband and I are both 100% on board to have our son done. However when the topic is brought up some people act so surprised. Personally I don't care what others think ... just wondering what the general feel is on this board.

View 3 RepliesGeneral :: Transition From Xanax Xr To Regular
After my mom passed away I was having trouble sleeping and having tightening in my chest at night when I was alone (I was generally fine out amongst others and at work). My doc prescribed xanax xr, which I took for about a year and a half with no real issues, but I didn't want to feel sedate at work, since I write for a living and have to be "on top of my game." So, I asked if I could switch to regular xanax, just for the home panic attacks, since I never really had anxiety at work. I usually have a drink or two at home after work and never take the xanax when leaving the house. Well, I finished the extended release and started with regular and have passed out on the couch twice in a row. THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED, BEFORE. Should I be concerned, or will I build a tolerance?
View 3 RepliesHip Replacement :: Spinal Or General Anaesthetic?
I am booked in for my first hip replacement surgery next Wednesday. I was really surprised to hear that my surgeon does this under spinal anaesthetic, I've been told I will be awake but oblivious to my surroundings. Just wondered if anyone else had surgery this way and can reassure me. I am 45yrs old with osteoarthritis, I require both hips to be replaced but surgeon only does one at a time with at least 6 months in between for recovery. Any advice or reassurance will be gratefully received!
