View 1 RepliesDental Health :: Filling Vs. Root Canal - If Tooth Doesn't Hurt
Can a temporary filling be replaced with a permanent filling without root canal when if the tooth does not hurt?
Is there a difference between a temporary filling and a permanent filling? My aunt said that her temporary filling lasted for more than three years without root canal. Can the temporary filling last or be replaced by a permanent filling instead of having a root canal ?
Fibromyalgia :: Disappointed With Pain Management And Exercise
So I was finally able to get in to see a PM doctor and she looked over all of the info that had been sent to her and then decided she wanted x-rays of my hips (where I have the most pain) and spine. She told me that she really doesn't do medications (which is fine) but that injections of some sort might help me and she would wait for the results to make any decisions. It took almost 3 weeks for me to get the results back and then the nurse told me that my x-rays looked ok but that the doc said I could get an MRI if I wanted to. I told her that I really can't afford another MRI (had one of my brain) right now and would rather not have one unless the doc really thought I should. She again told me the doc said I could have one if I wanted and that was it. Never offered another appointment or anything.
My rheumatologist who until my last appointment I really liked is frustrating me too. I told her I hated the gabapentin and would prefer not to take it anymore. She said that's fine the best thing that I can do for myself is to eat healthy, exercise, and get good sleep (impossible with 3 babies! but I try) And I have a very healthy diet and have added exercise as much as I can tolerate. She told me that medication is really for people who can't live a normal life because of their fibro.
Did she not listen to me? Is it "normal" to come home from the grocery store in tears? Is it "normal" to spend a week recuperating from a trip to Coney Island or a family BBQ? Is it "normal" to take 2 hours for your body to work in the mornings?

View 12 RepliesPregnancy :: Nausea - Ginger Gum Doesn't Work For Me
So I find that these sea bands work. This is our fourth pregnancy and so far it's miserable. I can't eat anything and I stay nauseated. My husband and I own a business and have several dinner date with clients.he says my sea bands are in formal. I agree people tends to ask questions about why I have bands on my arms. I am only 8 weeks and ginger gum doesn't work for me. The nauseating feeling is horrible. Is there any other thing that works especially when I am on these formal events?
View 1 RepliesWhat If Occipital Nerve Stimulator Doesn't Work
If anyone else has had an Occipital Nerve Stimulator fitted and if it was a success. I had it fitted in March 2014 and had to have the wires adjusted as they were causing problems in my neck and not helping my migraines. I had about 5 week of some relief and my medication intake did reduce. However, in September of this year. I felt the machine stop working and had no sensation from it on one side of my head. Over the past week I am no longer able to bend my head over or reach my arms out without getting pain and a pulling sensation at the back of my neck. I have been sent for X-rays this week and am now waiting for the whole procedure carrying out again. I had high hope's on this operation helping. I understand it's not a cure, but I just need help with reducing the severity of my daily headaches/migraines. Has anyone else had equipment failure?
View 6 RepliesAm I Pregnant? :: Real Blood Coming Out Doesn't Look Like Spotting
I ended my period about 12 days ago. Two days after that I had sex. (Not my first time) Afterwards I was a little sore down there. Lasted for a few hours. Then about 3 days later I noticed some light spotting. No pain. No other symptoms just a dark brown color / dark red. This lasted for about 7 days and now the spotting seems like it's getting heavier. Like it's real blood coming out and it doesn't look like spotting to me. What could this be? Could I be pregnant? Infection? Stress? Or what!? Please help im a 17 year old girl who has never had irregular periods before...

View 10 RepliesPenis :: Foreskin Retraction - Doesn't Retract Fully
I'm 19 years old and my foreskin won't retract on its own, both while flaccid or erect. I never knew it was supposed to. I have had sex before, both with and without a condom, and a few times during sex the foreskin was forced down below the glans. However, it was very painful each time and I thought it wasn't supposed to do that and so I moved it back up. For me it is much more comfortable to have it covering the glans. I've never had any infections or problems with my penis or foreskin either and sex was always ok. I'm still worried about this though, especially after reading that it was supposed to retract, is this a problem I need to consider and have fixed or is it okay that my foreskin doesn't retract fully?
View 1 RepliesPenis :: Foreskin Doesn't Retract Fully On Erection
Basically, my foreskin doesn't retract fully when I am erect. Two reasons for this, my foreskin is very tight and the head of my penis under my foreskin is very sensitive. Is there any conventional method of remedying this problem without going to the doctor? And that won't take so long. I can masterbate fine, when i masterbate i don't go anywhere near the head of my penis, i just work up and down the shaft. That's fine and all but I am worried about the problems i am going to face when I have sex.

More Effective - Simvastatin Or Lipitor?
after I had my last physical exam for work I was bit surprised when the doctor informed me my blood tests showed that both my cholesterol and triglyceride levels were borderline high and that I should go talk to my physician about my option for lowering those. Otherwise I passed with flying colors - I’m not overweight and I exercise twice a week.
My physician gave me several more guides on the diet, of course I’m continuing with my exercise regime, but he also told me he thinks I should think about starting statin medication, either simvastatin or Lipitor in his opinion. Which one of these is more effective?
Eye :: Laser To Get Rid Of Floaters - Effective?
QUOTE FROM ARTICLE:
Although the idea of a clinic-based YAG laser operation is alluring for its perceived simplicity, we have the following concerns.
1. The energy delivered into the eye is not acceptable. The energy delivered to the eye in YAG vitreolysis compared with standard YAG capsulotomy is much greater. Van der Windt and colleagues state the typical required power is 2.5 mJ to 4.5 mJ, and they do not recommend exceeding 500 pulses per treatment session. They recognize multiple treatment sessions may be necessary. It is our opinion this level of energy being delivered into the eye is too great, putting the patient at unnecessarily high risk for postoperative inflammation, glaucoma and retinal tear/detachment.
2. The efficacy of YAG vitreolysis is also in question. Delaney and colleagues found that 38% of patients treated with YAG vitreolysis had a moderate reduction in symptoms while 62% had no improvement.
The alternative treatment for YAG vitreolysis, and what we recommend at Mercy in carefully selected cases, is small-gauge pars plana vitrectomy. This procedure yields much higher efficacy. In the same Delaney study, they reported 93.3% of eyes undergoing vitrectomy for floaters resulted in full resolution. By utilizing modern surgical equipment, now readily available in as small as 27 gauge and cut rates as high as 7,500 cuts/minute, very little energy is directed into the vitreous, and very little traction on the vitreous is exerted. Vitrectomy has the advantage that if a retinal tear develops intraoperatively, it should be easily identified and treated at the end of the case.
