Shingles? Bubbles Burn And Little Itchy
On Friday night I had a weird red raised spot on my chest right where the underwire of my bra hit. Saturday the spot was bigger and felt like it was made up of four tiny "bubbles". Sunday the "bubbles" all seemed to be united with a fifth one joined in the group. These bubbles burn and are a little itchy. The week prior I thought I was having an allergic reaction to my laundry soap because my sides felt strangely itchy and tingly. I went to the Dr. on Monday and he diagnosed Shingles and put me on Valtrex. Tuesday(yesterday) I slept late, took a four hour nap and went to bed early. Today I am still beyond tired, but the rash has stopped spreading and remains a single "uni-bubble". I have had herpes simplex outbreaks on/off for years but haven't had an outbreak in years......the "uni-bubble" looks very much like the H-simplex bubbles.....but I haven't had the intense pain everyone talks about(thankfully!)......
I'm wondering, do I really have Shingles?
Dermatitis / Eczema :: Getting Itchy During Exercise
I have full body atopic eczema, i see a dermatologist frequently and i'm now on 200 mg of cyclosporine per day. It has really helped- but i still have a bit on my top lip (not lip lickers) and on my arms, its still a military operation with emollients and things but getting there.
I gave up the gym a while ago as my eczema was so bad but recently i've been wanting to get back into exercise. I've been doing it at home to control the symptoms but now i have bad patches all on the inside of my elbow. Does anyone have any ideas of how i can control this? I wear cotton clothing all the time- if i exercise its in sleeveless tops and shower straight after, emollients etc. my exercises only last for about 30 mins at the moment so its not too intense, can anyone recommend what i can do to stop/control this? i'm thinking of asking my gp for some dermacool to help with the itching and heat but if i want to exercise daily for my health then this is going to get out of control. any ideas?!
Acne :: Is It Eczema? Face Is Dry, Red, Flaky, Itchy
My face is dry, red, flaky, itchy, and peeling but only on the right side. I work in a warehouse and was very sweaty this past week so I wiped my face off with a towel during the day, possibly further irritating and drying out my face. I also have purple pimple like bumps on my face but again, only on the right side.
View 1 RepliesDermatitis / Eczema :: Red Itchy Rash That Travels Around
I am looking for help with my itchy red rash. I posted under “Could this be scabies” a couple weeks ago. I am at my wit’s end. I went to urgent care about six weeks ago as I could not get in to see my doctor. He never got out of his chair to look at it closely and told me it was dry skin and gave me a topical cream to put on it. A week later I went to my doctor. She looked at it closely and said it did not look like anything contagious and gave me prednisone for ten days. Everything cleared up and I felt great. At that time I had rashes under one breast, one on back at a hard to reach area and a couple on my stomach line. They all went away. After being off prednisone for about a week they started coming back in other places. I saw a dermatologist and he looked at me with a lighted magnifying glass. He said it was dermatitis and prescribed betamethasone. The cream makes the spots go away over a period of days and the itching stops or lets up. But I keep getting new ones. I now have spots along underwear line that looks like little bites here and there and some larger. Also have a rash on the back of my neck that is just a lot of redness and itchiness with a couple bumps. My skin is so sensitive to the touch in those areas. Interesting thing is they are almost all on one side of my body and rarely go past the middle of the body no matter where they are. They also bother me during the day when my clothes and seams rub them, but when I go home at night and relax and put sweat pants on and a t-shirt the itching will subside some. I don’t have itching at night in bed but may wake up with a couple more spots. My husband has not had any itching at all this whole time. I have never had skin problems. Does this sound like dermatitis? I see the doctor in four weeks and he wants me to not use the cream on three areas so he can biopsy it to confirm dermatitis.

my leg is five and half years old and for as long as I can remember she has had bowel trouble. It started off as constipation which the GP prescribed movicol for. She was weaned off if this and over time her symptoms have worsened. She suffers from terrible bloating, wind and constipation. She complains of "tummy bubbles" I have asked what she means by this and says either her tummy hurts or she thinks she needs to go to the toilet. We are at a loss as to what could be causing this?

View 4 RepliesDermatology :: Bruise On My Arm
I have this strange bruise on my arm. It first looked like a spot then got bigger. I think my shirts must have scratched it open but it won't heal properly or disappear. I also have a general itch feeling on my body with quite a lot of spots (which i normally don't get). First I thought it might be bed bugs but my GP (and some other doctors I asked) said it doesn't look like it. I got an appointment with a NHS dermatologist in about a month but I am really considering going to a private one as I don't wanna wait for that long. What do you guys think?
Acne And Eczema
When I was a baby I suffered with very bad eczema, then when I was approximately 12/13 my eczema came back on my face along with bad acne, to clear up my eczema I used Aqueous Cream as well as Hydrocortisone Cream which worked and I also used Zineryt on my acne which eventually worked and my skin was back clear apart from the occasional hormonal spot every now and then which didn't bother me.
I am now 17 and towards the end of January this year I noticed my eczema was coming back as well as comedones so I visited the doctor about my eczema and was given Diprobase which I applied to my body and face 1/2 times day. I thought if I continued to use my Zineryt it would eventually clear up the comedones, which it didn't. Eventually the comedones also spread to my cheeks and my chin and now they flare up into painful spots and my face is now covered making me very insecure about my skin!
I re-visited a different doctor around 5 weeks ago and have been put on 1 a day Tetralysal antibiotics which haven't made the slightest improvement and my spots are still continuing to worsen and increase.
I have also been on the Cerazette birth control pill for around a year now I was wondering if this could be causing hormonal changes that have triggered my acne despite being on it so long?
If not I was wondering if the Diprobase/Aqueous cream could be causing my acne? (I stopped using this on my face 2 days ago incase but have still gained more painful spots and my skin is also becoming dry again)
I would like to know your opinion on what is causing my acne? What I can do to treat it? And how long it will it take to get back to a bearable state?

View 1 RepliesDermatology :: Pimples On Body
I've had these small pimples affect me for several months now. I suspect something std related, but currently my doctor has ordered a blood sugar test so I'm awaiting those results.
They are small pimples, they appear in one area and disappear after a day or 2 and appear in another area sometime. I get few other spots that a bit tougher and bigger, but not often. They can be itchy and also itchy even when there are no pimples, mostly in the thighs. I have had the pimples mostly on the thighs, but also legs, lips, and recently I've discovered some on my face, arm, testicles and the foreskin of the penis.
Like I said I suspect std, most likely herpes. Herpes I know is a common and untreatable condition, but these pimple(at least on the legs) are continuous and does not herpes happen a couple of times a year?
I've been to a sexual health clinic several times and when they look at them shrug like it's not something they deal with or not recognise and therefore they do nothing. This clinic doesn't test for herpes as procedure, but I did manage a swab test on a pimple on my lip which was negative(however it was a burst pimple i.e. not a good sample). People that look also seem to not think it looks like herpes.
Basically what I'm doing is exhausting all possibilities because I don't want continuous pimples on my body. I can deal with it if I'm going to have outbreaks just not one big one.
Allergy :: Eczema After Swimming
I do a lot of swimming and can't find a decent remedy or barrier for eczema. To be honest I control it pretty well but it flares up to the extent that it is incredibly uncomfortable and it is always the next day after I have been swimming. I then end up taking an antihistamine which makes me drowsy and then has an affect on my training (doing an ironman) for the days that follow. Can anyone recommend anything?
