I recently broke up with my girlfriend and had a few days of pretty heavy drinking, 12+ beers throughout the day and night each day. I have always been somewhat of a heavy drinker and shortly after those 3 rough days of being down and in a dark place, I started to notice my stool was very dark brown or on the verge of black. It doesn't stink though. I read up on reasons why this would happen and the bleeding obviously scared me because of the drinking. Although I also had been taking some Chlorella supplements that contain iron off and on but they never gave me this color stool before. Sometimes green. Along with some Pepto Bismol the day before but only 2 doses, which is another cause. Some purple flavored sports drinks and even prune juice. So all of this can add up to the dark colored stool from what I read but I am still very worried. My stomach has been uneasy and makes me feel like I don't want to eat anything. Not sure if it's an upset stomach or still from the hangover. I'm into day 2 now, and it is still there and unsure when it should go away if it was from something other than bleeding? It doesn't seem to be dark black like tar or stink so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I am 27 and have always been very healthy other than my drinking habit which I am obviously going to drop because this has scared the poop out of me
Its Friday now and have dropped all the supplements and juices to see if it goes away. Just not sure how long it would take to go back to normal since I took multiple things that could cause it. I guess otherwise I will be calling the doctor on Monday.
Bowel Disorders :: Prolonged Diarrhea With Black Flakes And Yellow Mucus
For a bit over 3 weeks, I have had diarrhea. I was having 15-20 movements a day for the first week, but now it's closer to 6-10. There has been white and yellow mucus in the stools regularly, and they have varied a bit in consistency, but mostly have been watery. It smells very bad, and just a few days ago, lots of black flakes have been appearing in the stools; they look like coarse pepper grindings. I haven't had a fever, and just this morning started to develop some pain in the front right of my abdomen.
I've been tested for salmonella, c. diff, and likely a few other things via stool samples, and everything has come back negative. I also had a CAT scan which showed some inflammation in my colon, but everything else looked okay. Just this morning, I had a movement that was entirely mucus and black flakes which smelled like rotten eggs and burned quite bad coming out, and it freaked me out a bit. It might take a few days to set up the appointment for a colonoscopy, I'm wondering what is the possible prognosis, and at what point I would need to go to the ER.
I am 32, and have always been in good health. I stay active, and have no family history of cancer or digestive issues.
Bowel Disorders :: Stool Dark/black And Smells Like Rotten Eggs
I had irregular bowel movements for months and i finally became regular the last two weeks but something is terribly wrong because my stool is dark/black and smells like rotten eggs every time, my nutrition is in check because i am a bodybuilder and i consume 30-35 grams of fiber every day and eat all the micro nutrients I need, my macro nutrients are roughly 80 grams of fat and 180 grams of protein and rest of the calories are carbs ( i eat around 3000 calories every day.
Note: I was eating the right amounts of nutrients even while constipated.
is there any health issue i could be facing?
BTW I am 18 years old.
Menstruation :: Levlen Ed - Orange-brown To Bright Red And Then Sometimes Black
I've been taking Levlen Ed for 4 months now and haven't had a problem with it. I've been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend. I was due to start taking the sugar pills the first week of February(from the 1st until the 7th) but had a holiday planned so I skipped it and just started on the next pack of active pills. I started taking the sugar pills of the next pack on the 22nd of February. I got my "period" but it was a lot lighter and ranged from orange-brown to bright red and then sometimes black. I have been taking the pills perfectly and I haven't had any symptoms of pregnancy, so the chances of being pregnant are incredibly low. Is there anything else that could be causing this?
View 1 RepliesThreadworms? Black Strings In My Stools - Worms
For several months I have been experiencing digestive problems such as excessive burping, trapped wind, constipation, reflux and a lot of undigested food in my stools, even though I have stopped eating gluten, dairy, seeds and nuts. I have also recently been diagnosed with iron deficiency and have also been experiencing sinus congestion, excessive mucus in my throat and anxiety. On the advice of a naturopath over the last few days I have been taking magnesium-oxide as a colon cleanse of sorts. Today in my stools and on the toilet paper I noticed quite a few black string looking things, they were quite thin like a piece of thread and were not moving. The smallest were 0.5 cm and one or two were maybe 1.5 cm. Am I right in thinking these must be some sort worm? Could they be thread worms even though they're black and I have no itching? Any suggestions? Would it be inappropriate to take some into my doctor to what they are? I travelled to South America last year so I guess I could have picked something up there.
View 2 RepliesHemorrhoids :: Stools Blood Is Dark Or Black - PILES?
Been back and forth to the doctor for the past 6 month trying to find what is causing all of the abdominal issues I'm having.
Doctor has given me a working diagnosis of IBS with reflux and hemorrhoids (as i pass blood, sometimes frequently and then sometimes it can stop for weeks at a time).
I've requested that he refers me to the gastroenterologist as I'm not satisfied with his diagnosis for a couple of reasons.
The main reason is that when i pass blood, it isn't always bright red ... sometimes it is darker ... it's never really dark or black, but it's just simple a medium shade of red ... can internal hemorrhoids cause this color of blood on the stool? (There is never a lot and Its never mixed in with the stool, it usually either streaks the outside of the stool or is mixed in with mucus at the start of my bowel movement).
It's the darker colour of the blood that makes me think it's coming from further up the digestive tract though which makes me think it's not hems.
Bowel Disorder :: Narrow Stools - Cancer Or Hemorrhoids?
I produce narrow stools for a long period of time now (2 months). I did it once few months ago but it came back to normal, but not now it lasts .
I'm so scared this can be a symptom of colorectal cancer. I'm only 30 and I don't have any family history with this cancer. I know I'm very stressful. I've seen a specialist who told me I had internal hemorrhoids (he did an endoscopy). Do I have to do a colonoscopy ?
It's like play doh stools ...
These narrow stools are driving me crazy.
Bowel Movements :: Impacted Stools In Your Transverse Colon?
Is it possible to have regular BM twice daily and still have impacted stools in your transverse colon?
Also is the transverse colon above or below the belly button?
The reason I ask is because I have IBS and suffer terrible bloating in my upper abdomen mainly above my belly button to my sternum. However when I have a BM the bloating and hardness reduces a lot.

View 16 RepliesIrritable Bowel Syndrome :: Hard / Loose Stools And Mild Cramps
I am 35 years old female and have a daughter just under 2. I have for most of adult life suffered from hard stool and I have a , fissure as a result that comes and goes from time to time. I have also experienced occasional pain in my lower to mid right abdomen that can last a whole day and be gone the next. Now for the past two weeks I have been having a change in bowel movements to looser stools and mild cramps. There are also pains on my right that are localized and come and go. Not sharp but feel like something is in there. And as I said they come and go. I also have lots of gas and extreme intestinal growling. Another thing I experience is bruised like feeling in ascending and transverse colon. Especially after a bowel movement. I usually will have a day or two without cramps and going to the toilet only once to going 3 to 6 times in a row. Never had this problem before. Very afraid this is something really bad. Been to Dr and we have done a complete blood count and all is fine. I suffer usually from severe health anxiety and have been back and forth at Dr and she is sending me for a urgent colonoscopy within two weeks and she thinks it could be ibs or some form of ibd. No blood in stools. So while I am waiting for an appointment my anxiety has been going through the roof.

View 1 RepliesBowel Disorders :: Painful, Odd Bowel Movements
I have had IBS for 20 years, and have been treating it with fiber therapy pretty successfully. In the last few months, i've had some odd bowel movements. the first one i noticed was long and thin and tough, like an elastic. i thought tapeworm, but my stool tested negative for worms. i can't explain it, but after wiping and checking it flings itself off the toilet paper a fair distance. I'm afraid to ask my doctor because he scoffed at me when i told him that i thought i had worms. i had a colonoscopy for my 50th birthday in august and everything checked out. Any idea as to what's happening?
View 1 RepliesBowel Disorder :: Black Toilet Water While Stool Is Brown
I am 24 years old and for the past month I have been experiencing increased gasses and watery stools. I have scheduled a check up with a doctor, but have to wait a bit since I am abroad. Naturally, I have googled quite a bit to see what can it be. Today I had a weird stool. I had a not so firm brown stool while it was surrounded with black toilet water. Is this blood? On internet I found that released blood should be red, while if it is upper in the body it should be combined with feces so I am puzzled.
View 1 RepliesIrritable Bowel Syndrome :: Black And Dark Purple Bits In Stool?
So it all started roughly 4 weeks ago where suddenly one day I was getting really bad stomach cramps, bloating, a lot of gas especially after eating (my stomach would literally rumble all the time, eating or not eating), had very little appetite. Went to the doctors a few days later and they said I had a stomach infection, I wasn't having diarrhea or vomiting at the time.
I started to worry a lot during the next week or so as I suffer from pretty bad anxiety and the symptoms weren't changing at all. I lost about a stone of weight in a week and a half which I assume was down to not eating (I could only manage a few bananas a day)
About a week later my stomach cramps seemed to stop and a pain developed just under my right set of ribs, which seemed to get worse and worse as the days went by. I started to get really loose BMs of a weird green dark orange colour which seemed to reduce the pain and would find myself going 3+ times a day and not feel empty after the first. I find myself needing to urinate a lot more frequently too, maybe cause I'm drinking a load of water?
In my stools are these weird black dry bits of varying length (they were purple today but I'm not sure if that was kidney beans I ate last night) They are dry and kinda look like the bits of popcorn shell that come off the corns before you put them in the microwave, but not as hard if that makes sense?
I went to the doctors a few more times and got shrugged off saying it was all down to my anxiety which was causing the issues?
Finally I got to see a good doctor who gave me a blood test which came back with nothing and said I had IBS which was developed as a post-infection mixed with my anxiety levels. I kept asking if any other tests were required and he kept saying there is no point.
Now I usually have a constant pain under my right ribcage, which comes and goes through the day, usually worse after eating, sometimes under my left ribcage is a feint pain too and sometimes it'll rise into upper abdomen.
So what the hell is going on here? Sorry for the massive essay. I'm just really worried about these black bits in my stool, are they blood?!
Nail Disorders :: Melanoma - Black Spot Under Toenail?
I have had a black spot under my toenail for 5 months. I have been on medication for 4 months treating it as fungus but it is only looking worse. It is becoming darker with weird colors in the middle and the skin by the cuticle is getting dark. My toe has not hurt at all until the last couple of weeks, now it aches sometimes. I have an appointment with a podiatrist on Monday but I am curious if anyone else has experienced these symptoms?
