View 1 RepliesPregnancy 34 Weeks :: Bell's Palsy - Left Side Of My Face Paralyzed
I'm 34 weeks and I woke the other morning to the left side of my face paralyzed. I can't move that side of my mouth or close my eye at all and it's starting to droop as well. Doctor said it's called Bell's Palsy and it usually goes away after days, weeks, or even months. There might also be a risk that it could be permanent due to nerve damage.

I play the French horn and got the Bell's palsy after an exceptionally day playing 3 weeks ago. It seems to be fading already. I was sent to the stroke unit and found to be A1 in all other respects. My treatment was 7 days x 60mg steroids. If I return to playing, will it happen again?
View 2 RepliesAlcohol :: Numb Tongue - Can't Taste Anything
So I drank last night as some know. And today my tongue is new...feels like I burnt it...and I can't taste anything.
I didn't burn it on food. because I didn't eat last night. I just drank. Has anyone else experienced this?
Its probably my Central Nervous system being upset with me.
Palsy - Non Cerebral :: Left Eye Would Not Close While Working On Computer
Yesterday, while working on my computer, I noticed my left eye would not close. Within an hour my lip was drooping and eating was difficult. This morning, my Dr. diagnosed Bell's Palsy and has prescribed a course of steroids. My eye is taped shut to prevent dryness and I feel like I am falling apart,--a a thought that occurs frequently as the my 65th birthday approaches. I have chronic kidney disease and want to know if there is any alternative remedy for this hell known as Bell's Palsy.
View 1 RepliesSphincter/anus Seem Unable To Close Properly After Sitting On A Bottle
I've done something pretty stupid & think I've damaged my sphincter muscle. I did it by sitting on the top of a plastic soft drink bottle to see how far into my rectum I could get it. The top of the bottle was approx. 6 cms in circumference expanding to approx. 30 cms circumference about 10-15 cms from the top/at the middle of the bottle. Unfortunately I slipped as I squatted over it & sat on it, full weight (95 kg), & accidently forced it right into my rectum past the middle of the bottle causing my sphincter/anus to fully stretch about 9cms apart/ 30 cms around . Now my sphincter/anus seem unable to close properly and it's now always protrudes between my buttocks - it looks sort of like a hernia, which is all very embarrassing + hard to clean properly. Have I caused myself permanent damage ? Are there exercises I can do that will fix my over-stretched sphincter muscle ?

View 1 RepliesBell's Palsy Or A Stroke?
My mother was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy on Sept 2nd, 1 week ago. She has left sided facial paralysis, but she also has COMPLETE left sided weakness. The left sided weakness started about 2 days after her face. The doctors have done CTs and MRIs with contrast and ruled out a stroke, but they do not know why she has left sided weakness. Has anyone else had complete left/right weakness with Bell's Palsy? Also since the diagnosis of Bell's Palsy my mother has been confused at times, her memory is horrible (can't remember her SSN now), has trouble saying what she is thinking at times, and is just NOT the same. Anyone with similar symptoms please help! The doctors are saying possible early onset of dementia??? My mother is 49. I have just never heard of all these symptoms with Bell's Palsy

View 1 RepliesSleeping Trouble - Uncontrollable Vivid Thoughts When I Close My Eyes
I've been experiencing this for quite some time. the first time I noticed it was when I came home from a festival after taking ecstasy. I closed my eyes to sleep and would find myself walking through the festival as if I was there just a few hours before. i could open and close my eyes and knew the situations weren't real but they were so vivid and i had no control over what i was doing. I couldn't change the place I was or scenario or control my movements when i had my eyes closed.
I've noticed this a fair few times after taking drugs but now it has started to happen to me on nights where I'm sober (98% of the time). It could be a possibility that I stand under the speaker at work which we play music from and it is quite loud not to mention a very busy retail job in a liquor store. I come home to sleep around midnight and close my eyes and it's as if i'm in the store with no control over my actions just serving customers going about my normal shift work.
My bedroom has a few led lights that flash but I mostly cover them up with t shirts, they're from computers and such, I'm 22 years old healthy never had problems with sleep as a teenager and I've only noticed it in the last 2 years. I'm thinking it might be to do with the long exposure to loud noise since its now happening once I'm sober. when I drink alcohol I tend to pass out no problem within seconds of hitting the bed. Any ideas, theories or information on what I'm experiencing and possible causes.

View 2 RepliesBell's Palsy :: Back After 14 Months
I had Bell's Palsy last year and with in 14 months i got it back. First time i think it took around 6 weeks to recover 90%. I still have some signs of it. During First time - i had pain behind my ear for 3 days and on 4th day - I started noticing something wrong and by the end of the day - i had total facial paralysis on my left side.
Now for second time - it is so weird that i had pain for almost 5 days and on 6th day i started noticing changes and by end of the day i am still normal and by end of 7 day it got worse.
I went to Doctor and he kind of confirmed Bells Palsy ( not sure whether he is 100% sure) and gave me Steroids and Antivirals.
Weird part is why is it so slow this time - after 2 complete days of initial symptoms - i am still able to close my eyes ( forcefully and not like the other one) and i am still able to smile little bit ( very slightly). Is it something normal to Bell's Palsy or i have something else.
Bell's Palsy - During Pregnancy - Can't Take Steroids
I am getting desperate I got bells palsy during my pregnancy i was not allowed to take the steroids because i was told it might harm the baby so they said just to wait it out and after i give birth it should fix its self well it hasn't. I tried physiotherapy, acupuncture I'm taking complex vitamin b tablets. Nothing is working im starting to feel really depressed at the possibility that i will never be able to smile again or look normal. I didn't take any photos with my son during his birth and he is now 8 months and i don't have many photos with him i don't want to be remembered as a monster.
Everyone always says oh i cant tell, you look fine , don't worry about it but its hard to believe them when they aren't the ones suffering.
I cant afford to spend 120 a week on acupuncture so i'm thinking i have to stop i have been doing it for 2 months.
