Two 5mm Kidney Stones :: Pain In Back - On Potassium Citrate And FloMax

Hi all... so I have two 5 millimeter kidney stones in my left kidney started last month,,, been on potassium citrate, FloMax and drinking lots of water, still they wont pass.... I have also added lemonade (not from concentrate) to my list of fluids..

Urologist said I shouldn't have a lot of pain, well I am in discomfort in my back where the kidney is, so he sent me for a CT scan today to see how large they are. Tomorrow morning I go back to see him. Was wondering will these ever pass or are they gonna have to be crushed?

Kidney Stones :: Intense Back Pain Radiating To The Front

I woke up Monday morning with intense back pain that radiated to the front and cause sweating and nausea.  It lasted about 20 minutes and was gone.  I have had this about 5 or 6 times with months and even years in between.  This is the first time I went to the emergency room.  They worked me up for cardiac issue but found nothing thank goodness.  They did do a cat scan but said nothing about a kidney stone.  I am wondering if I could have passed a stone without knowing it or if the stone might be undetectable on a cat scan.  We have not been able to figure out what causes these episodes.

Kidney Stones? Nausea / Vomiting - Upper Back Pain Waves

I have had an achy upper back pain for a few days now. I was attributing it to having slept funny, but now I am thinking it was a warning sign I missed. I woke up at 2am with horrible nausea and sharp pain in my upper left back. It comes in waves and was so severe it brought tears to my eyes. I have had kidney pain from infection in the past and while different I think this pain may be kidney related too. I am trying to find some way to get comfortable enough to sleep since it is the middle of the night and I don't want to wake two sleeping babies and drag them to the ER. I tried calling the nurse helpline provided by my insurance company, but he just told me to try a heating pad and some Tylenol.
I have a lot of prescription pain meds in my medicine cabinet because I have had 2 c sections and another surgery within the last couple years and I hate taking pain meds... I took an oxycodone.  That along with a vibrating massage mat under my back seems to be helping with the pain for the moment, but the nausea is even worse now. Any suggestions for that? I just need to make it to morning so I can go to an urgent care clinic. There is no one to watch the babies right now and of course o would get sick on Sunday when my primary care doc is closed.

Pain While Stones Still In Kidney?

Is it possible to have kidney stone pain while the stones are still in the kidney? I have about seven stones in my right kidney and five in my left... I'm trying to get my urologist to call me back, but that is next to impossible if I'm not in the emergency room doubled over in pain. Any suggestions/comments are welcome here

Pregnancy :: Possible Kidney Stones?

I'm a 29 year old female 36 weeks pregnant. Back in January I had a large amount of blood in my urine and some flank pain ( nothing like what most describe with stones) happened again two weeks later so my OB requested a urology work up. I had a full ultrasound which showed mild fluid in my right kidney which is normal in pregnancy. Then sent me off to a urologist for a cystoscopy and two cytologies to look for bladder tumors and Cancer cells. All which were negative. Fast forward to April and again some flank pain with blood in my urine. Urologist wants a CT scan but can't due to pregnancy. So it became a waiting game. May comes along and im having blood every few days with a little more Intense pain lower along my hip and into my pelvis. No back or 'flank' pain per say but now I am urinating large clots and tissue and blood. Went to the hospital they pumped me full of fluids did an ultrasound and saw absolutely nothing and said probably a kidney stone we'll look closer after you have the baby.... Does any of this sound like a kidney stone? They feel it would be a small one since it can't be seen on ultrasound and I am not in excruciating pain. But I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around a 'small' stone causing so much trouble, blood and clots and taking MONTHS to pass... Any thoughts?

Pain After Kidney Stones And Stent

I had my first kidney stone in February of this year. I had lithotripsy twice on my right side and also a stent. The stent was removed after three days. I have had a constant stabbing pain where the stent once was. I have seen many different doctors and been to the ER several times. Each CT scan has come back negative for more stones and doctors cannot find a reason I am still in pain. Anyone have the same problem?

Possible Kidney Stones? Pain Below Bottom Bra Strap

I am extremely frustrated. I have been sick since Aug 27 with extreme back pain. The pain is right below the bottom of my bra strap on the right side (slightly above where the I thought the kidneys are located). I am also having pain in the right side and rt groin area. The Dr's say that I have a lot of blood and crystals in my urine, but the CT scans don't show any kidney stones. The CT scan did show that the right kidney was swollen and the ER DR said that either the urethra or ureter (can't remember which) was swollen and enlarged as if I had passed a stone. I had an appointment with a urologist last week, and even before introducing himself, he told me it wasn't a kidney stone and referred me to an Ortho DR. He didn't examine me at all - did not touch me. He did suggest that I have cystscope, but said it would not help my back pain. Therefore, I didn't do it. I am usually a very tough girl. When I gave birth to my son several years ago, I didn't utter a single complaint (natural childbirth). But several times over that past few weeks, I have found myself in tears because the pain is so bad. I have had everything checked - gall bladder, liver, pancreas, spleen .....everything. What is a girl to do? I don't normally take any pain meds or narcotics. I am usually extremely healthy.

Side Effects Of Kidney Stones Other Than Pain?

Hi everyone! I know that kidney stones are terribly painful and that there are various unpleasant treatments to get rid them. In other words, kidney stones are not something you would aim to acquire :-). But, my question is, other pain, what are the consequences of kidney stones? Are there any side effects?

Kidney Stones, Pain, Nausea, Depression

I'm not sure where to put this and I'm fairly certain I do not have enough space for all of this. But I will try anyways.

I am 27 years old and male. And my life right now is not great. I have a long list of medical problems most of which have gone untreated for years and are all more or less working together to ruin my life. Since I do not have the appropriate length here to explain all of this a simple list will have to do for now.

Current Issues:

Chronic Pain left and right flank

Chronic Nausea (will result in vomiting)

ADHD (untreated)

Anxiety (Untreated)

Depression (untreated)

Sleeping problems

Eating/Weight problems

Chronic Kidney stones

UPJ obstruction and Hydronephrosis of the Left Kidney (3 surgeries to repair)

What I NEED help with is Identifying what I need to do to make this better. I have been seeing doctors for the past 23 years of my Life. I honestly need A LOT more space to explain all of this.

Pain After Blasted Kidney Stones Procedure

I'm 22 and got my kidney stone blasted two days ago (10-2-13) and I was wondering if anyone else has had this procedure? I am in a world of pain. and I was just curious how long I can expect this pain to last. My urologist said the stone was at the opening of my kidney and it was about 6mm. They blasted it and put in a stent. I feel like I have been beaten with a baseball bat. I was just curious if anyone else has felt this pain and how long I should be expecting this to last.

Sudden Pain In My Penis - Kidney Stones?

I felt the need to join after something that happened yesterday and it's left me in a state of panic. I am currently 17 years old and while showering felt an intensely sharp pain on the tip of my penis. I couldn't explain what it was and then urinated after my shower but felt like something is blocking it as I couldn't pass urine like I normally could. The next morning (today) I woke up and touched my penis to see if the pain was still there but it wasn't and I could pass urine normally again. It isn't until now when I tried to examine my penis further that I felt like I pushed something to the end of my penis and touched it when extreme pain came back again. My mother and sister both suffer from kidney stones and I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow but came on here to see what you guys thought.

Kidney Stones - Dramatic Increase During Pregnancy

Hi all! Im so happy i found this board, hopefully someone can answer some questions for me. Ive posted on a couple of other sites but no one was in the same situation and really couldn't answer my questions. Im 32 and I've had kidney stones on and off for the last 14 years. Usually id just get them once or twice a year but had 2 three year gaps of no new stones. Last November during my third pregnancy i was diagnosed with a stone that i was told was 2/3 of an inch. I passed fragments on a monthly basis and in jan of this year the stone had shrunk to around 1/3 of an inch. I continued to pass fragments on a monthly basis for the entire rest of my pregnancy which ended in mid may when i gave birth. In late june i wound up back in the er for kidney pain and had a ct scan which showed 'several" stones in my left kidney the largest being 8mm, one in the right kidney and a 3mm in the left ureter. Since then I've been passing stones on a weekly basis, I'm in pain almost everyday. I had an x-ray in early august showing 9 stones in my left kidney the largest @ 4mm plus one in the ureter, of course . Then a ct in late aug showed at least 7 stones from 1mm-7mm. So basically my left kidney hates me, and honestly I'm not all that fond of it either at this point. My urologist has referred me to a pm dr. So this brings me to my ?'s. Does anyone here see a pm dr for kidney stone pain and if so how well do they manage your pain? Also has anyone else had a dramatic increase in stone production like this before and how long did it continue? My urologist has told me he has no clue whats going on and other than back to back pregnancies nothing has changed in my life. My father has noticed an increase in stones also but not this sharply. He had his first stone in his late 20's and went about 5 years between occurrences at first but has had 5 stones this last year. Is this just something that occurs more frequently over time? Im at a loss, in pain and really getting scared that this isn't slowing down. Im also scared that this pm dr won't take my pain seriously and i really can't go on like this. Im fed up with the pain and constant infections and its really difficult caring for 3 children when I'm this unwell especially with my 2 youngest being under 18 mos.

Pregnancy :: Kidney Stones (Tylenol And Morphine)

This past friday at 1:20am I was rushed to the ER from sudden back pain that was unbearable I was so scared for my baby.. Came to the conclusion it's kidney stones and I became more terrified because there's not many pain killers they could give me other than tylenol and morphine, so about the last one I asked if it was ok for my baby, first they said not sure!!  And than they said if it's a small amount its ok… I was so desperate because i know my baby felt the pain too, I took half the dose plus 3 Tylenol and 30 mins later I went to sleep… mind you this was at 5am ughh… what you ladies think?  Should I be worried?

Kidney Stones :: Laser Sessions During Pregnancy?

My wife had stone in her kidney. About 15mm. She was operated by laser machine (Laser Session to break stone) 3 times in General Hospital and her some stone was released while some is still in her kidney about 5mm to 6mm. Now the problem is that she is pregnant and can't bear another laser session and I think its harmful for baby too (Its 4th month of pregnancy), she is bearing kidney pain after every 1 or 2 days. Is there a medicine or solution that her stone be released or at least her pain is finished?
