Interstitial Cystitis - Treatment Options?
I developed excruciating burning in my bladder within the last two weeks. After ruling out a bladder infection, and after doing much Internet research, my symptoms (burning 24/7) seem to match interstitial cystitis. Has anyone received this diagnosis? It appears that the condition is chronic and very very difficult to treat, and that there are no proven treatment. There are treatments but they are pretty extreme (you can Google them under treating Interstitial Cystitis.)
So what a low blow. Can anyone out there help me? I see a urologist for the first time tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what I am in for to cure this horrible burning?

I had the mirena coil fitted four weeks ago to help my periods, the first two weels were fine, then I started to notice I needed to go to the toilet more frequently. It got worse and had bad discomfort in my bladder and my urethra , my doctor treated my for a urine infection, but it didn't clear it up. I started looking online and found out that the progesterone in the coil can irritate the bladder and cause interstitial cystitis, the doctor didn't have a clue so ....
View 2 RepliesInterstitial Cystitis :: Inflammation Causing Blood On Toilet Paper After Urination?
Can IC inflammation cause blood on toilet paper after urination? Couple years ago my doctor thinks I may have IC. Couple times a year I do get bladder infections. Right now I'm on Cipro for a bladder infection and I'm on my 10th day of antibiotics when I saw blood on the toilet paper. My bladder symptoms however seems better now that I'm on antibiotics.
View 1 RepliesParasite Cleanse? Autoimmune Thyroiditis, Interstitial Cystitis, Heart Palpitations
I suffer from autoimmune thyroiditis, interstitial cystitis, heart palpitations (mostly PVCs and PACs) and Small Intestinal Bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), random inflammations that come and go and lots of debilitating symptoms. The above conditions started around the same time, so they seem to be related somehow. I've seen multiple doctors and specialists, but none of them have been able to identify the root cause of all of these conditions.
I'm thinking of doing a parasite cleanse to see if it helps. I'm kind of hesitant to try it because I've heard that it can cause really bad side effects. Has anyone tried a parasite cleanse for one or more of the above conditions? Did it help?

View 1 RepliesRectocele And Cystocele Repair - Advice / Tips?
I'm due to have Rectocele and cystocele repair. I had my last consultation with my surgeon back in August 2015 had my pre op assessment in September. I was told I would be in for surgery around December and I'm still waiting, I spoke to someone at the gynae waiting list team today and they said I'm not even on the list yet as they are so far behind. I completely understand that they are busy and their are woman out there a lot worse then me it's just that walking and lifting is becoming a real pain and I'm sick of taking co dydramol which blocks me up when I already struggle to go to the toilet for a bm.
Sorry for ranting I just wondered if anybody had any advice as I'm starting feel like I'm moaning all the time to my husband.
Genitourinary Prolapse :: Surgery Or Not? Rectocele & Cystocele
I have rectal & vagina vault prolapse - Rectocele & Cystocele( lower 1/3rd) and sex is quite painful and difficult. I have 3 choices at the moment ;
1/ do nothing until the prolapse gets much worst but this means having uncomfortable & sometimes painful sex ..I am coping with bladder & bowel problems with kegal exercises but hate the look and feeling of it down there.
2nd... try a pressery? If I pressary works my Gyna would preform a much simple perinuem repair to fix the tight skin problem. This still involves stiches so I wonder if pressary is the way to go and I have heard that can affect sex too? or have the surgery. I had huge cuts to deliver my first child as she was stuck in my birth channel and then they figure I didn't had the width to deliver here???!!!. So many stiches and at least 2 further opreations to try and correct the terrible job the first surgeon had done on me. I have literally a thin area of skin in my perinium that is only about a 1 cm wide which is treched so tightly it hurts when touched. Sex has been uncomfortable for the past 30 years and several positions are out of the question. As I have grown older 58 now and the symptoms of menopause have raised their ugly heads. This area has lost its elasticity and has become hard and very taut.
3/ Do the surgery for the rectocelle & cystocele .. I really worry especially after reading this forum that it won't fix the problem and could make it heaps worst.
Does anyone have any stats on % of successful operations? This site is full of bad experiences.
Bigger Or Narrower Vagina ? After Cystocele / Rectocele Repair
I am worried that after my repair I will be left with a bigger vagina. When I push my front wall to where it should be I have a gap below my fingers. This really concerns me as I don't want to be bigger than I am now! I know Rectocele repairs can make the vagina narrower but the front wall of the vagina is attached to the pubic bone so is very different. Can anyone tell me how it was after your Cystocele repair?
View 13 RepliesGenitourinary Prolapse :: Rectocele & Cystocele Repair Post-op Lump?
I had a cystocele and rectocele repair on the 21st (so 4 days ago). The doctor used a tape sling for the cystocele and stitching for the rectocele. I honestly had no idea what to expect and didn't even know that he would be cutting 2 slits on my outer labia. What's actually hurting me now are the interior stitches which I assume are from the rectocele repair. I wanted to check out what was going on down there and there is a lump, almost like 1/2 of a finder, bulging out of my vaginal canal. Is this normal? Am I just swollen?
View 37 RepliesHysterectomy :: Mild Cystocele And Frequent Peeing
I went to the doctor as i am constantly running to the toilet. I also feel a lot of pressure. I am 46 years old. I am trying to loose weight but can't walk far as i then need to pee. I pee approx 15-20 times a day. Blood tests show no diabetes etc. My doctor examined me and says i have a cystocele, he said it wasn't as bad as he expected going by my symptoms. He did say tho that everything is crammed in there (whatever exactly that means i am not sure) He is referring me to get a pelvic ultrasound and then consult with gynecologist. He thinks i may benefit more from surgery as he thinks the other treatments don't work as well for me.
Anyone had similar symptoms with a mild cystocele?

View 1 RepliesWhat To Expect? Vaginal Hysterectomy Due To Prolapse
I have just been told I need a vaginal hysterectomy later this year due to prolapse of womb, bladder and bowel. At the moment I am on a 6 month intensive course to strengthen my pelvic floor (it's non existent apparently). I am really scared about having a catheter fitted, just don't like the thought. Do you always have one fitted after the op? Also does anyone who has been through the same thing know how long I am likely to be signed off work for? I work in a school but no heavy lifting.
View 39 RepliesTotal Vaginal Hysterectomy For Uterus Prolapse
I just saw a Urogynecologist yesterday who says I need a total vaginal hysterectomy. Of course, I am scared! They did Urodynamics study and my bladder is OK. I originally thought when I went in that my bladder was falling. That's what my GYN at home told me. Not true according to this St. Louis doc. His name is Dr. Veronikis at Mercy hospital. Would love to hear from anyone who has info on him. I haven't scheduled the surgery yet. Still thinking, praying, researching, etc. until I decide. My prob is that my uterus is falling down and pushing out my vagina. Quite an ugly sight!! lol He will do a TVH and repair the vagina. Let me hear from anyone who has stories to tell or similar experiences.

View 3 RepliesRectocele :: Surgery Or Physio ?
I had cystocele and hysterocele surgery 5 months ago and after surgery I have developed a rectocele. It is mild but I have problems in the bathroom and feel like a ball in my rectum constantly.
I went to my check last week and my gyn confirmed that I have a rectocele. He saw also some stitches inside my vagina. He told me to have surgery for the rectocele and he would remove the stitches in the op also. He told me not to worry, he would use stitches for the rectocele repair (not mesh). He scheduled the op for June.
Well... the following day I had an app with my physio who said "DO NOT OPERATE THE RECTOCELE!!!". He explained that my rectocele is mild, he is sure that I can fix it with rehabilitation. Rectocele surgery has bad results, he said, and many problems afterwards with sex. Is that true?
It is the same situation I lived two years ago, when I began to feel the cysto and hysterocele, the physio said not to operate, but after 1 year physio treatment, finally I had to operate.
What do I do? . I do believe in physiotherapy, but as a complement of surgery. For my experience, I don't believe in it as a substitute of surgery. Should I postpone the op, do the physio treatment and see what it happens? Or should I operate now? It would be very stressful for me to have like a year of treatment just to have the surgery finally. What do you think?
Alcohol :: Cystitis Flare Ups
I suffered from uti's a lot when I was younger but since then I've been fine.
Now suddenly these last few months as soon as I drink alcohol, I'm crippled with cystitis the day after.
I only drink on occasion when I'm out which isn't much but I am only 25, so the thought of not drinking because I'll be in agony the day after is haunting me.
I've tried the sachets and cranberry juice and they are not effective.
Anything else I can try to ease the pain? And is this a common problem? As it just started out of the blue for me.
I take the pill and pantoprazole for my hiatus hernia, but I have been on these for years with no problems.
I also don't have any problems after sex usually, it's literally just started after I've drank alcohol.
Any advice would be great as I'm going a family party tonight for my boyfriend's birthday and dreading the thought of drinking.

Has anyone else had problems with cystitis/bladder infections when on Warfarin? This is a problem I have never ever experienced previously but for the last few days I seem to have had all the classic symptoms and am wondering if it could be Warfarin-related? I have been taking Warfarin for approx 7 months after a P/E and will be on it for life. My INR is very unstable, (currently 3.4....should be 2.5). A week ago I finished a one week course of antibiotics to try to clear up a chesty cough, (didn't).
