View 2 RepliesWeight Problems :: To Juice, Or Not To Juice?
I am seriously looking at beginning Jason Vale's "7lb in 7 days" Juicing plan, so much so I have already downloaded the book on my Kindle (as this is more than half price of buying the book) and am 40% through it. I am not totally "sold" on the idea, not because I don't think this is a good idea but mainly because I am not sure I can have the determination to stick to it!
I love my food. I have no other pleasure in life (don't drink/smoke/buy bags or shoes/have nails done or spoil myself with Spa Days or clothes shopping and as I have children, I find I don't go out much either!). Throughout my entire life, food has been a treat, a pleasure, a celebration, a commiseration - any event has always been celebrated or commemorated round the dinner table or with some kind of "treat")
Thought it may help/motivate me if I kept a mini "blog" on here (??) as to how, why and what happens as this may (or may not - probably the latter!) help anyone else who is thinking of doing it and doesn't know what to expect.
90% of the girls at work have done it and one member of my family is currently doing it (she is now on Phase 2 and 3 of the plan) and they all swear by it!
This is by no means my "quick fix" and I am fully aware and totally understand that this is a "health change" which is the reasons I am doing it but to lose a few pounds in the process can only be a bonus. Don't get me wrong, I NEED to lose about 4-5 STONE but my main draw to this Plan is the health benefits. Yes, I am over weight, Yes I have high blood pressure, Yes I have high cholesterol, No my blood sugars are not too high (thank God) and Yes I do have heart disease, stroke and diabetes in my family plus Cancer on all sides.
I am now 45 years old and need to kick my butt in order to stay alive long enough to see my kids married and to be around long enough to enjoy my life - because I sure ain't at the moment!
I feel lethargic, have a huge "can't be bothered" attitude, have absolutely no energy or interest in anything, do Zero activities and would much rather sit on the sofa watching a chick flick than walking briskly round the park with my dog/kids! I admit, I am LAZY.
Now, the thought of starting this process is VERY appealing and I am all for it with renewed determination every time I have just finished a Spaghetti Bolognese with Garlic Bread!
But, can I do it - YES I CAN!
Watch this space!

Few weeks ago i noticed green dots of discharge from my nipple, I checked with my Gynae he said it is not normal however I did not ask further as he is a guy and I feel uncomfortable to let him check yet.
My Mother in law today asked me to start expressing milk, is it OK to do that? I heard expressing milk can cause preterm labor and I thought doing it during my 37week would be better.

View 3 RepliesAllergic To Apple Juice?
I've recently started suffering from a series of sore throats and tongue Ulcers. This is strange, as I am healthy mid 20's male - i run 4/5 times a week, i have a very healthy diet, and I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs. It got worse last week when i developed a little under 30 ulcers on my tongue, and had an exceptionally sore throat. It died away almost as soon as it started, some 24 hours later. I went to the doctor, but beyond the usual reasons (stress, stopping smoking, acidic food) he could think of no reason for them. This afternoon, I had a drink of apple juice, and within 10 minutes, my throat was closing and felt really sore. It occurred to me that over the past two weeks, I could link all of my outbreaks/worst days to days when i had drunk fresh fruit juice that may have contained apple juice - I usually drink a fruit juice with two or three fruits in it, and they use apple juice to thin the mix of pulpier fruits (such as mango, banana, papaya etc), or to make juice go further (cranberry, raspberry or pomegranate for example). I think i'm fine with orange based fruit drinks, or at least i don't recall Is it possible to be allergic to apple juice?
View 1 RepliesCan Cranberry Juice Cure UTI?
Recently, questions like can the UTI be cured by cranberry juice or can cranberry juice cure UTI were posted on the internet and searched by netizen constantly. But can the UTI be cured by the cranberry juice?
Cranberry is a small sour red berry that grows on a small bush and is used in cooking. So the cranberry juice is a juice of the sour red berry. But In 2010 a study conducted by the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts showed that the ingredients in cranberry juice named condensed tannins limit the ability of E. coli bacteria to cling to other bacteria.
However, the study conducted in Massachusetts also showed that without other bacteria, E. coli's ability to grow and reproduce is limited. Therefore, the conclusion of the research is cranberry juice helps prevent UTI but cannot cure the UTI.
Since the cranberry juice can only prevent the UTIs for people, how to cure the UTI if one gets this condition? One herbal medicine named diuretic and anti-inflammatory pill is highly recommended.

View 10 RepliesDiverticula :: Anyone Tried Raw Garlic And Cranberry Juice?
I'm just trying to recover from a flare up and as I'm quite new to this horrible disease I am making some mistakes along the way. I've been on a low residue diet for two weeks & have been ok & felt fairly normal at the weekend, but then yesterday felt a bit constipated & bloated so I started taking my psyllium husk supplements & a spoonful of Aloe Vera juice, I only took two PH but this morning felt very sick again & had to rush to the loo so many times. I don't have any pain & the only way I can describe it is that my tummy feels very tender, so I think I've tried to rush things. I've been reading SO many different versions of how long it takes to recover & what you should be eating? I think I am fairly confident that I have been eating the right things so not sure why I ended up constipated? A few people have said that cranberry juice is really good & also that you should eat raw garlic as it acts as a natural antibiotic. I have read posts on here saying that you should avoid garlic.

View 3 RepliesBreastfeeding :: Want To Pump And Put The Milk In Bottles
I want to breastfeed for a few months (I've heard it's great for bonding) then I want to pump and put the milk in bottles for convenience purposes... How long do you think I should directly feed her from my breasts before I switch to bottles?
View 3 RepliesBreastfeeding :: Need To Start Storing Milk
My baby girl was born this last Wednesday. So far everything has been great breastfeeding wise. If anything, she tends to fed twice as long and go twice the recommended time between feedings, but that gave me time to rest.
Today, I've had a terrible time getting her to feed for more than ten minutes every few hours because they gave me a stronger pain medicine which also puts her to sleep whenever I try to feed her. I've decided not to take it anymore unless absolutely necessary.
Anyway, we finally get discharged from the hospital and my breasts are so sore and full that I'm pleading with baby to stay awake through a whole feeding. I didn't think milk would start coming in until later, but I swear when I finally got to pumping it out manually, it looks like milk instead of colostrum. Baby finally woke up long enough to feed fully too. But no matter how much comes out, they feel like they just fill right back up again and get sore... how do I stop the pain?
It feels like my body is producing more than what baby needs. She's barely a few days old. She doesn't need so much to be full. I'll need to start storing milk late for when I return to work, but I don't even know if this is milk or colostrum. How can I tell?
Breastfeeding :: Never Experienced My Milk Coming In
I wanted to breastfeed my first but never experienced my milk coming in. I never had engorged breasts and had to start supplementing because he lost weight so quickly. I am 20 weeks with our second and I am hoping to breastfeed successfully this time. I have heard about foods/teas to help increase milk. Now that I know a little more on how to help milk. Any ladies have similar experiences or advice. I am trying to prepare now so I hopefully will be able to.
