Jetta - Volkswagen :: 2000 VR6 Hard To Start In Warm Weather

My 2000 VR6 Jetta has an annoying problem of hard starting in warm weather. Last summer through fall when the weather was warmer, it would often crank but not catch. All winter it is fine. A jump will usually gets it after a while. Replaced the battery with limited success. I park in the shade whenever possible. It has the manf. alarm system, and, also, but not always, it is accompanied by key not turning off the alarm. Do not have remote. Replaced the Fuel Pump Relay. No success. Cannot predict, so I don't want to have it sitting at the dealer for days on end.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 - Buzzing Sound When Tapping Brakes

2003 Jetta GLS 1.8T

Every time I press the brake pedal a buzzing sound can be heard. Every single time. Without fail. Moving or parked.

I just had the tranny rebuilt and it's possible something was broken or unplugged. I've done a search on google and can't find anything specific. I'm thinking something to do with ABS. Problem started a week ago when it came back from the rebuild.

I'll try to get a video and post. Was funny at first. Now it's annoying.

Jetta - Volkswagen :: 1996 GL Won't Start When Temp Start To Warm Up

I have a 1996 VW Jetta GL 4 cyl. 2.0L. When the temp. start to warm up the car won't start. I don't know if its the temp. outside, or in the cabin of the car. all the dash lights turn on, and accessories turn on. sometimes I hear a clicking noise, which I think is the sound of electricity going to the starter. I have replaced the starter, alternator, & battery. I had a family friend mechanic look at it for about 3 hrs. and he couldn't figure it out. I have a suspicion that it might be the ignition switch faulting out, but how would I know for sure with out taring apart the steering column?

Jetta - Volkswagen :: Loud Vacuum Sound At Start Up

I have a 2003 VW Jetta GLS 5 sp. Manual with the 2.0 Naturally aspirated 4 cyl engine. The car has approximately 147,000 miles. My MIL light has been on for some time now. I recently got my local mechanic to run diagnostics on it and he reported two error codes (411 and 420). To my understanding, 420 is due to the imminent failure of a catalytic converter, an issue which I have addressed by replacing Plugs, wires, distributor, and cat.

My real question is, I would like to know if a mysterious Vacuuming sound that comes from my car whenever I start it cold in the morning and persists for about 25 seconds, and then comes on and off intermittently, is related to the 411 code. My local mechanic told me that there is some kind of exhaust recirculation motor that may be going bad.

I love my VW and want to keep it running properly rather than give it up, so long as there is no serious problem that is impractical to fix.

Jetta - Volkswagen :: Won't Start / Rapid Fire Clicking Sound / CEL On

Its a 2008 Volkwagen jetta with about 60000 miles on it. My car makes a rapid fire clicking sound. I've checked the battery connections and they seem fine. When I tried to jump start, the electronics inside start flashing to the same clicking sound. The check engine light is on.

Jetta - Volkswagen :: 2003 - Grinding Sound Most Of The Time When Braking

My 03 Jetta TDI wagon, with 210,000 miles, had a grinding sound about 10% of the time when I braked, BUT ONLY AT UNDER 5 mph...that is the last couple of seconds before completely stopping. The car braked fine, but the periodic grinding worried me. Two weeks ago, my mechanic couldn't reproduce it; today, however, we did and he identified it as the ABS (and I remembered that sound from the couple of times the ABS has kicked in during winter driving. But my question was safety, and my mechanic says the car brakes fine...he has checked them all around and driven with me...and the fault is the ABS system and not the brakes themselves. Need to verify this? The car runs fine (I am the original owner, and for the first 7 or 8 years had it solely dealer maintained) and I plan a road trip this summer, but I need a little more comfort that the ABS acting up won't result in a more serious problem.

Jetta - Volkswagen :: 2006 - Swishy Sound When Clutch Is In And Going Around Corners To The Left

I have a 2006 Jetta with 85k miles on it. When I have the clutch in, going around corners to the left, I hear a very swishy sound that sounds like "wish wish wish wish"...It seems to be coming from the front. It can only be heard with the radio off. This started about a month ago. Seems to be getting gradually worse, but not exponentially.

Couple of details:

1) Recently (3 months ago) started a very break-heavy commute (moved from Boston to LA- had car shipped)
2) Had the breaks redone about a year (20k) miles ago
3) Someone misjudged the angle at which they could pull in to a parking space recently and scraped along the back quarter and tire but i've had it checked out and have been told that the damage is purely cosmetic
4) Recently was going over a speed bump (the wider and softer version known as "speed humps" here in the LA area) and thought i heard a sucking-"POP"...I was hoping this meant the sound would go away, but it didn't.

Jetta - Volkswagen :: 1997 - Pulling Very Hard To Right And Makes Squealing Sound When Get Up To Speed

Yesterday, i bumped into the curb as I got home, and today when I went to work the car is pulling very hard to the right, and makes a squeeling sound when I get up to speed. The ball joint looks bad, but can that cause this problem?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Sound Like Woodpecker Is Tapping On The Floor When In Gear

2001 f250 7.3L......

Haven't had it long, but when I am in gear and come to a stop i hear/feel this sound coming from what seems to be under my feet. I don't know how else to describe it other than it sounds like a woodpecker is tapping on the floor.

If I put it in neutral it stops. As soon as i let off the brake it stops. It doesn't do it while driving.

Jetta - Volkswagen :: 1999 - Choking Intermittently / No Set Pattern

I have a 1999 (new body style) VW Jetta GLS. 4cyl, 2L engine. It has been chocking intermittently. there is no set pattern of when it chokes. it chokes at speeds above and below 60mph. it usually chokes at constant speed; non acceleration...BUT it has choked while accelerating from stop. the heater is sometimes on and sometimes off...my point is there is no set pattern. THE THING IS....every time it chokes, there is a clicking at the dashboard. just one click per choke/jerking. the dash lights and the headlights do NOT dim or flash at all. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT illuminated in the dash or any other warning light. the choking has not caused the car to stall or shut off....although there have been times when it almost did.the car has been tuned up...plugs, wires, fuel filter...timing belt and serpentine relatively new.

My 14 year old Jetta, 119,000 mile will manually o into reverse ,but will not allow me to reverse the car? Could this be a clutch problem, or transmission. Is it worth repairing it, or purchasing, leasing car? Car also had new engine 3 years ago.

Jetta - Volkswagen :: 1999 - Engine Brake (rather Than Gliding) At Times When Take Foot Off The Gas

Shifting from 2 to 3rd seems to hold too long (surging) in many instances. 1st to 2nd is always perfect and smooth. Also it seems to engine brake (rather than gliding) at times when I take my foot off the gas. This is not desirable.

I plan to change the ATF and filter soon. I don't expect this to work but it is a good to do it since it has not been done. VW says it is a life time fill. I am not getting a check engine light.

Is this something that can be modified with software using a VAG Com diagnostic system or similar? Is this indicative of some other issue?

Volkswagen :: Why Does The Fuel Cut Off After Warm Up

Just started this. The car starts normal and runs great until it gets to temp or about 20 miles, then it begins bogging down. Has no power under load,(going up hill or giving extra gas), will load up then backfire, slowly losing power and speed, then cannot get gas to it at all, eventually shutting down. After sitting for a few hours will do the same thing again.

Camry :: Tapping Sound When Going Over Bumps

Every time I go over a bump I hear a tap. It comes from both sides, on the left it feels like it's coming from the wheel well area.

I hear it going over speed bumps, usually those wide and gentle ones, but not small and sharp bumps that jar the entire car.

I associate it with that instant when the suspension gets unloaded, i.e. going over a smooth bump I'd hear it around the time the bump slopes down and the suspension gets unloaded for an instant.

I have new Quickstruts with retrofitted oem springs. The ride height is normal. New swaybar bushings and no apparent play when the car is on the lift. Also, the car is in near perfect alignment, did it a couple of days ago.

So...what is the likely culprit. Sway bar links perhaps? They do have ball-joint like ends, perhaps these are worn. Could it be that they appear solid on a lift because they are under load at that time?

Passat (B6) :: Tapping Sound When Driving At Over 40 Mph

I have a 2006 2.0tdi and when driving at over 40 mph I get a kind off tap tap tap . If I put a little pressure on the clutch you really can feel the tapping. If I take the car out of gear the tapping goes. If I rev the engine whilst stationary no tapping. I figured it might be a worn spline on the driveshaft? I've taken it to the local vw dealer 3 times and they can't find anything.

Passat (B6) :: Tapping Sound - MPGs Are Low (22)?

I had the whole follower issue and the dealer replace the fuel pump, follower and intake cam. Then I got a terrible tapping sound a couple of days later. So I brought my car back and after two weeks and a new rocker and intake cam I was back in action.

But I drove the car yesterday noticed the on board MPG delta gauge was saying I average 22mpg through 1/3 of a tank. It was mostly 45 mph roads and some highway at 75-80 mph. I figured I should be getting closer to 27-28 at those speeds.

Camry :: Tapping Sound From The Front End Going Over Some Bumps

Ever since I had Quickstruts installed on the front I have been getting a tapping sound going over the bumps and such. I think it happens when going over something combined with the steering input, such as pulling out of a parking lot onto the main road. If I just go over a bump with wheels straight, no sound.

Can't replicate the noise by rocking the front end by hand.

The sway links appear tight, no vertical movement. I have a reman rack and pinion since last year along with new outer tie rods. Sway bar bushings maybe?
