Toyota - Avalon :: 2001 - Overheating Dashboard Electronics
I have a Toyota Avalon 2001. When the dashboard multi-display reports a temperature >84oF, the clock and/or trip odometers reset, and other readings go blank.When the car cools sufficiently, all functions resume (though clock time has to be reset).
The problem has been narrowed to the multi-display module or its connectors.
Is there a way to keep the car interior cool when it sits unused in a parking lot?
I currently leave the windows open ~2in behind rain covers, installed last year, that prevent unpredictable thunderstorms from introducing mold through the partially opened windows.I currently use a reflector in the window. Both of these observably drop the cabin temperature ~20oF ,yet it is not enough.I have tried a fan, powered by the car's battery, but extrapolation from measurements indicates that before any fan moves enough air to have significant effect, it will leave the battery too drained to start the car.A solar panel powered fan generates more heat than it removes.
Is there a way to remove the expose (and reseat) the multi display connectors, by just removing the padding above the dashboard?
I have the service manual, but have not yet found how to get access to the multi display, without removing the seats, and all cowlings from the center console forward.
Ford - Expedition :: 2011 - Random Clicking Noise Under Dashboard
Was driving to the beach yesterday with the family. About 15 minutes into the trip started hearing a random clicking or tapping noise that sounds like it is right under the dashboard. There are no lights showing up and all the gauges appear normal.
The sound occurs randomly and the car doesn't have to be in gear. The only one we haven't heard the noise is in reverse (but you don't drive in that often. Will attach a video on the noise exactly.

I have a 2006 Toyota Avalon XLS that shuts off while driving! No acceleration or power-steering; the car simply stalls. The car only stalls when at low speed such 20mph, stopping for a light, or slowing down to turn.
The car will start right back up or you can put into neutral and restart. I have been dealing with this for a year! I have taken it to my Toyota dealer where I purchased and to no avail. The car throws no codes and no indicator light stays on once the the car is restarted. I have changed electrical wires, replaced battery, disabled remote start (previous owner installed; I purchased car used).

I have toyota avalon 2001 xls. 3 years ago I had problem with fuel injector and mechanic change it, since than I had problem with stalling car on and off. When ever it is hot or cold or sometime pulling out from drive way. It starts good, just doesn't keep idling. And as I take of foot from gas it stalls. In order to get going I have to use both foot tachnic. One on gas one on brake, for stopping I use brake and keep pressing gas padle, so it doesn't stall. After 2-3 minutes it works fine until next time car sets somewhere for few hours.I did two three times fuel system flush. Change all spark plugs.

When accelerating there is a noise that seems to come from the exhaust (can not be duplicated not in gear). This noise got louder recently, and then the noise stopped. When the noise stopped, the check engine light illuminated as well as the VCS and VCS off lights. Is there a common cause for this and/or trouble shooting steps that should be followed?

Here's what happens to my car: If its in park you can floor the throttle and its smooth and quiet for the most part. Same with reverse. I can put it in reverse, back up hard and it's smooth. When i put it in drive, stationary, it sounds rough. When I'm taking off from a stop it sounds rough until I'm at a good cruising speed at which point it seems smooth, until stopped again … … The noise is rough in both drive and reverse. I have had my Corolla LE since October 2011, there has been no maintenance issues whatsoever with it, and it has 65K miles on it. Up until September it was a solid, quiet ride, and with the passing two months, what started to be a quiet vibration, has grown louder and louder. At first I thought it was something inside one of my storage compartments rattling, and then I thought it was the blower, only noticing the sound when I turned on the heat. Now, it makes noise when I accelerate, decelerate, at a complete stop (with the car still on). I read another post about it might be the heat shield, and I was convinced previous to reading that that it was something exhaust-related. But, I'm not sure. This noise has gotten louder, isn't consistent with any function of the car, it appears to be random, but the noise is still the same, the quick "drr, drr, drr" noise, truly a rapid gunfire sound.

After having rear disc pads replaced, my 2003 Toyota Avalon makes a terrible noise backing out of the driveway in the morning. I think it must be rust or something--it never happens in ultra-dry weather. It is a very loud squeaking and moaning. It only happens backing up, and it goes away after a bit of driving. Normally I would not worry about what is likely a bit of surface rust, but this is INTENSE. Like, the neighbors across the street stare at us. Should I worry about this, or just live with it since the brakes perform fine after this initial period?

I have a 2000 Toyota Avalon. The A/C will only come on if the switch is turned to full blast, but even then it makes a really loud grinding noise and does not blow very cold air. Is this a compressor issue or blower motor? I am assuming the switch is bad since it only works on highest speed, but could it be something else causing this also?

I have a 2007 Toyota Avalon Limited. For the last three years or so I get a very loud cracking noise from the Radio, I can even turn it off and it continues or gets louder. I took it to the dealer, they think it is some of the speakers. Since are 12 speakers, not sure I want to start replacing them. I thought it might be the amplifier, took to an electronics guys. He took a lot of the car around the radio apart, we could never find the amplifier. I think the amplifier is in the trunk with the GPS Disk Player. If you were going to replace something, would be the radio, amplifier, or? The only way to stop it is to remove the fuse which causes the radio and GPS screen to not work.

I recently replaced the wipers on my 2007 Toyota Avalon Limited. The new wipers are a rather expensive one-piece design that tends to bounce along the windshield producing an irritating noise. Never had this problem with the original equipment wipers. I have cleaned the wipers with alcohol, which temporarily improves the situation but the problem quickly returns. Only relief comes during major downpours.

My wife and I have a 2006 Ford Explorer that my wife has "learned" to love. When we first bought it she was driving a Civic and was sure that she was never going to be able to park the Explorer without crashing. Anyway, I digress. Last summer I noticed that every time I got in to drive it (I have the 2001 Civic now) there is a "Clicking" sound coming from the dashboard. I can't pinpoint exactly where in the dash it is coming from but it drives me NUTS! My wife can easily ignore it but I can't. It seems to be worse this summer so far and it only happens in the summer.I plan to record the noise and if I am fortunate enough to be able to speak with you about it I will have the recording of it. Anyway, I can't take much more of the clicking!
