Saturn - Sl :: 1997 - RPMs Will Drop By 500 - 1000 Occasionally?
I have a 1997 Saturn SL1 with 100k. Every so often the RPMs will drop by 500-1000 or so for a second and then come back up to normal. This happens both when stopped at a light and while accelerating, and doesn't seem to happen predictably. I've already changed the filters and cleaned out the IAC, without any success. I've sprayed the obvious connection points in hopes of locating a potential vacuum leak, also without any luck. Other ways to locate a potential vacuum leak that wouldn't be overly time-intensive?

2001 F150 5.4 4x4 148K... I recently replaced the intake manifold on this truck and when the engine revs it wants to continue at high RPMs for about 10 seconds after letting off the throttle. When driving, it almost wants to go faster and the gas mileage is really bad. Had some codes come up and took it to AZO and had them checked. P0171 & P0174. Guess I need to do some testing on the MAF and injectors.
View 2 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Engine Revs Up For A Couple Of Seconds Then Parking Brake Fault
I have a 07 Passat, manual 2.0T, 90 kmiles.
There was a recall for some faulty circuit in the steering column, which got replaced in September. Ever since the replacement, about once a week (with a daily commute of 40 miles each way, mostly congested highway), the following happens:
First the engine revs up for a couple of seconds when I change gears, to 4-5kRPM. Then within 5 minutes, I get a "Parking Brake Fault" message, together with the yellow P light staying on. If I stop the engine, I cannot restart it for 30 minutes or so, there's a message that says "depress clutch first".
When I finally manage to restart, I won't have a problem for about a week. Is this common?
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Hesitation On Accelerating For A Couple Of Seconds Before RPMs Pick Up
00 XLT 4.6 4x4 135k miles - New problem, on accelerating, truck hesitates for a couple of seconds before rpm's pick up. There is no stumble or bogging. It feels like I'm not giving it any throttle at all. And then it kicks in and takes off. It does this from a stop at idle, or at a steady cruise. Its an intermittent problem. No CEL. Air filter and fuel filter are about 3 months old. Haven't done any work to it since. Also, when there is less than a 1/4 tank of fuel, truck sometimes stumbles slightly off idle. Fuel pump starting to go?
View 6 RepliesSaturn - Sl :: High Revs - 3500 To 4000 Rpms
I have a '96 Saturn SL with a 1.9 SOHC. I recently removed the engine and transmission to change the clutch. I also changed the timing chain guides, the valve cover gasket, the timing chain gasket, oil pan gasket, front and rear crank seals and motor mounts. After I put it back in, it revs to 3500-4000 rpms and is very rich (so rich it smokes). I replaced the throttle position sensor since it had a crack at the plug and to see if that was the problem. I have looked at everything again and nothing is jumping out at me.

I've noticed on first start up the RPMs go as high as 3000 for a couple of seconds and then drop to normal even at 68' degrees,is that normal? because if it is what will aspect when the temperature drops to 20 or even lower.It is a 2.5 liter 4.

View 3 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 2002 - 1000 RPMs At Stop Sign And Clunk Sound
My 2002 F-150 with the 5.4 has an issue with a high rev (1000 RPM for a few seconds) while at a stop sign, along with a clunking/banging sound coming from under the truck. This is when I have the brake mashed all the way, and this all happens at the same time, almost every time I come to a stop at a stop sign or light. I do have an intake manifold leak, which i have recently determined, but I do not know if the high rev at a stop sign has to do with the manifold leak or to do with the transmission sounding thump I hear. Could this be a torque converter not unlocking, and then suddenly unlocking? Because after the thump sound, the RPM's go down to around 650 from 1000 every time.
View 4 RepliesBmw - 325 :: Occasional Surging Idle / Engine Will Rev Between 500 And 1000 RPMs
My 2001 BMW 325Ci has an occasional "surging" idle problem. When coming to a stop or at idle, the engine will rev between 500 and 1000 rpm's. Sometimes it will correct the problem and idle normally, or keeps surging until it eventually stalls. When restarted it works fine. Tried fuel injector treatment, fuel stabilizer treatment, and replaced thermostat. Still surges about 50% of the time. Had it to a dealer, and computer says its running fine.

I have a 98 F-150 that just went under a trans rebuild. It now will NOT shift from 1st to 2nd. It revs up to 3200rpm's, shifts to 2nd then chirps the tires as it immediately slams back to 1st. Is it possibly a solenoid issue? Looking for some useful info.
View 13 RepliesAlero :: Idle Down To 500 - 750 RPMs After Being Stopped Dead Still For 2 To 3 Seconds
I bought a 1999 Olds Alero. I bought it because I've always had good luck with Oldsmobiles, I've had a '91 Cutlass Calais, '89 and '92 Eighty-Eight, '86 Ninety-Eight, and an '84 Cutlass Supreme. All great cars. But I digress.
The car runs superbly when driving, but it idles down to 500-750 rpms after being stopped dead still for about 2-3 seconds. Fuel economy is not really what I expected, but I do not know what its supposed to get. I've been measuring it religiously and it gets 22-26 mpg depending on how much traffic I run it through.
I was told the engine (2.4L Twin Cam) was replaced. The car has 106k miles on it. I have replaced the spark plugs and their connectors, replaced the throttle body and Throttle Position Sensor, Idle Air Control Valve, and fixed misc. vacuum leaks. I have also replaced the air filter, and oil change. The car used to stall after it idled down, now it continues to run, but still the idle problem persists. I've been told a myriad of things from the Catalytic Convertor, The Fuel Regulator, Balance Shaft Bearing failure or shaft breakage. Does any of this sound like it could be the mystery problem?
At idle, you can move the throttle just enough to get it to idle at 1000-1200 rpms and it seems to like running there. Can't figure out why it idles down so low.
Camry 2012+ :: The Engine Began Spurring For A Couple Seconds
It was pretty warm this afternoon, had the AC on full blast. Drove into a left turn lane and stopped for the red arrow, the engine began spurring for a couple seconds. Then it caught itself but afterward felt the whole car shake for like a minute, drove off once it was a green arrow and nothing else happened. Has any one else had this or a similar experience happened to them? My Camry just hit 30k miles, I wonder if it just had a "spaz" (or whatever you want to call it) attack.

View 10 RepliesSuburban :: 2003 - Reduced Engine Power / RPMs Drop To Below 1000
IOur 2003 suburban often gets a "reduced engine power" displayed by the computer and the RPMs drop to below 1,000. The vehicle will not accelerate and will not go above 1,200 RPMs no matter how much gas it is getting. Flooring the gas pedal has absolutely no effect and the truck continues on its merry way at about 20 miles per hour.
I have been told by various amateurs that it is the gas lines or electronics that regulate the gas flow. The reduction in engine power seems to happen randomly, but most often if the vehicle is idling for too long (and I'm sure the 110 degree heat doesn't work). I can get it fixed much quicker if I know what the problem may be.
Phaeton :: Engine Sputtering Between 1000 - 2000 RPMs - No Fault Codes
My V8 is "sputtering" between 1000 - 2000 RPMs. Not only can you feel it, but you can see the tachometer bounce up and down as well. No problems accelerating or putting the engine under load - it's only between that RPM range where there seems to be hesitation. The car is not giving any fault codes, and I just recently had all plugs and coils changed. (The car ran great for 2000 miles following the plug and coil change.) It started on a road trip, and I took it to the local dealer. They thought it was bad gas. (I've since run several tank fulls through it...)
My suspicion is a mass air flow meter beginning to go, but until it triggers a fault, I can't say for sure. The dealer wants to check the MAFs values and to do a fuel tank pressure test to see if it's the fuel pump. I do have the Real Driver warranty, but they will not cover investigative costs. I'm not too excited about throwing money to test a bunch of different things.
Elantra HD (2006-10) :: 2008 - Engine Shudder / Vibration Whenever RPMs Are Between 1000 And1500
I drive a 2008 Elantra automatic,and have a constant engine shudder/vibration whenever the rpms are between 1000 and1500. The engine shudder stops as soon as I accelerate above 1500 rpms,or take my foot off the gas completely.
The dealer recommended cleaning of the fuel injector system,not sure if thats the course to take.I do know my model has had fuel pump issues,but the dealer has told me all recalls on the car have been processed.
Toyota - Rav4 :: 1998 - Engine Knocks And Lugs Between 1000 And 2000 RPMs
I recently got the EGR system in my 1998 Rav4 working (replaced VSV) after driving with it non-functioning for several years. Without the system functioning, the engine ran great, but fuel efficiency suffered. Now, when the engine is warm only, the engine knocks and lugs between 1000 and 2000RPMs. This usually occurs right when I shift into 2nd gear. There are no engine trouble codes.

I have several problems with my 06 FEH maybe some of you had same issues. I have imported this car from new york in my country 1 month ago, this is first Ford for me. Love this car but there is some issues and want to figure them out.
1. seat heating is turning on without clicking on the button, but not always it's random. Often on passenger seat some time on driver side to. I try to disable fuse but it also for 4x4 so it's not an option.
2. My engine idle RPMs is always higher that 1000. Maybe it is normal but want to be sure.
3. car cannot climb the hills here is the video.... car is just doing nothing to climb no rev up no trying just stall in middle. In my country there is some roads with hills like this and I want to visit that places.
4. Cruise control is working random to maybe it will start speed control in one click or after 20 -s try.
5.Is there any way to see soc? factory unis is replaced in my car with aftermarket radio. I have elm327 and tourque pro but can't find that option.
6. When monitoring with obd water temperature is always lower then it was on my other cars. its around 158-176F on other cars it was 200F.
