Mazda - Mazda3 :: High-pitched Gargling Sound When Accelerate And Tachometer Reads 1500 - 1900 RPMs

I'm having a problem with my 2012 Mazda3 (automatic, non-skyactive model) that others seem to be complaining about on the online forums, but there seems to be no consensus.

About 10,000 miles into owning the car, it started making a sort of high-pitched gargling sound when I accelerate and the tachometer reads 1500-1900 RPMs. At first, the sound occurred sporadically when I was accelerating under these conditions, but now, at 28,000 miles, it's happening almost every time I accelerate between 1500-1900 RPMs. Here are a few more facts:

The engine must be warm. The car must be in drive (I cannot replicate it in neutral or park)The sound occurs regardless of whether the AC is on

I took it to the dealer 3 times. The first time, they changed the belt, and that worked for about 1000 miles. The second time, they told me that the noise is normal, and I should not worry. The third time, I took it to a different dealer, and they put a "dressing" on the belt. That worked for about 600 miles. Now the sound is back again, and it's driving me nuts. It definitely doesn't sound normal. If I test drove a car at 28,000 that made this sound, I definitely wouldn't buy it.

Vibration :: Slight Rumble-strip-like Vibration / Noise When Turn Sharply To Right

I am experiencing a slight rumble-strip-like vibration/noise when veering to the right. There is no noticeable vibration when driving straight or to the right - sounds like it's coming from the front. I thought it was my tires but had them rotated with same symptoms/ I first noticed this shortly after I had them rotated in July. So it's probably front suspension.

Mazda - Cx-9 :: 2010 - Low Rumble Noise Between 20 - 45 Mph?

I have a new Mazda CX9, only has 6K miles on it...and it is making a low burring type noise between 20-45 mph. I have dealt with something very similar in the past on a Acura MDX that turned out to be a torque converter problem... I want to have as much knowledge as possible as to what could be causing this before i take it in for work...so I dont get the run around. What else could cause this low vibration noise between these speeds... Remember, everything is new...new tire, etc... I cant imagine the torque converter already having problems with so low of mile... can this be happening?

Mazda - Mazda3 :: Strong Smell After Trans Flush?

I had a trans flush done a few weeks ago and when I picked up the car there was a strong smell in the car( I assumed it was from the flush and that they spilled fluid). The smell was coming through the vents. I needed a cabin filter change and that improved the smell, although occasionally I still get a mild whiff of that same smell through the vents. What this could be? I guess I should have complained about it immediately. It is so hard in the area I live on to get competent mechanics.

Passat (B5) :: 2000 V6 Rumble When Turn A Corner And Accelerate

The car: 2000 V6 4motion

The issue: When this started out, it was barely noticeable and I attributed it to bad tires but now I have new tires and am not sure what's going on. As I turn a corner and accelerate, I feel this quick rumble go through the car; it's somewhat akin to very briefly running over rumble strips on the side of the freeway. It can also happen if I accelerate with moderate force.

One drive shaft was replaced a few thousand miles back but I didn't think it could be that as it doesn't do it at any particular speed or for a prolonged time. I thought it had something to do with the transmission or rear differential but searching didn't turn up much.

My game plan is to get the transmission fluid and filter changed asap. Is this a appropriate action or if I should be sourcing a new transmission ? I just don't know the severity of the issue and it worries me.

Acceleration - Repair :: Ford Expedition Slow To Accelerate / Strong Vibrations And Gas Smell

My 1998 Ford Expedition XLT with V8 5.4L engine has been having issues for about six months. It first started off with a strong gasoline and burnt rubber smell coming from the front of the car within a few minutes of starting the engine. Later, the whole car began vibrating and would intensely shudder every once in a while when idling. The car doesn't accelerate well from a standstill. The RPM will climb up to 3000-4000 while going from 0 MPH to 10 MPH, then it will lurch forward a bit and it pick up a little more speed. It struggles again around 15 MPH until it hit 20 MPH when it will lurch again and pick up normal acceleration. Once I try to go 40 MPH or more, the whole will start shuddering loudly and still struggles with maintaining speed. I have not attempted to drive over 50 MPH.

The best acceleration I can get is when I take 30-45 seconds to slowly press the gas pedal and work my way up to the speed I want.I was also following my father in another car while he drove the Expedition and on the highway, I saw sparks come out from the back of the Expedition's undercarriage when it climbed up an overpass. When driving over roads that aren't smooth, or when I accelerate, there is a sound from the back of the car like jangling chains or metal rods. It still makes the sound while the gas pedal isn't pressed or the gear is in neutral, so I think there is something, but have not seen anything underneath that could jangle around. While looking underneath, I saw that that some areas looked rusty, but not cracked. There is also a black piece under the engine that looked like it was made of plastic. It looked wet and oily and had a 2-3 inch opening in the center. I feel that there was supposed to be some sort of cover there.I now only drive it when it's unavoidable, usually once a week or less, and usually distances of 5 miles or less.I think the problem is with the use of fuel in the engine (fuel gauge fluctuates all the time, especially while driving on hills).

Camry :: Vibration Or Rumble Happen Around 40 To 45 Mph Or When Decelerating

I 've been experiencing a vibration, or rumble in my 2006 Camry. It would happen around 40-45mph or when decelerating. Once it got into top gear it would go away. Two weeks ago I turned off the overdrive and the problem stopped. Now, I keep it off in the city and turn it back when on the highway.

Prius (2010-12) :: MG2 Rumble / Vibration When In Ready Mode With ICE Off

I am still getting used to my new Prius, just have a little over 700 miles on it. I recently noticed something very strange with the car - if I am in "Ready" with ICE off, and I put it in drive and release the brakes, but do not press the accelerator, the car will slowly move forward, just like a regular auto transmission. After about 1 second the speed will reach about 2 mph and I can feel a very small rumble in the cabin and a very light vibration on the steering wheel. It sounds like a very low frequency bass, and it lasts for less than a second.

It goes away and the car continues to accelerate up to about 5mph (the accelerator is still not pressed). This sound is almost unnoticeable, and it does not happen if I release the brake and immediately press the accelerator, it only happens while creeping forward very slowly. I was able to make this sound/vibration last longer by "riding" the breaks and keeping the speed around 1-2 mph, it is very faint and I have really listen to it. To me I believe it is caused by some resonance/harmonics in MG2 turning at extremely low RPM, at least it "feels" somewhat "electric"...

Ford :: 2004 Mustang V6 Has Rumble Like Vibration That Will Come And Go At Any Speed

I have a 2004 Mustang convertible V6 auto with 140K miles. The car has a rumble-strip like vibration that will come and go at any speed. But seems to be most noticeable at highway speeds when the car hits a ruff spot in the road. It will rumble for a short while the gradually go away. It can be more pronounced sometimes than other times.

The car did hit a curb with the right side front tire, enough so that the tire had to be replaced and did scuff up the wheel pretty good also. Had the one tire replaced, all tires balanced and rotated. Front-end alignment done.

Engine and transmission both seem to operate smoothly. New plugs, wires and throttle body cleaned. New brakes all four. I have noticed the ball joint on the front right does have a small amount of play?

Passat (B5) :: Rattle / Rumble And Vibration When Engine Is At About 1200 RPM

I bought a 2005 wagon from a local dealer with 21K miles, the 1.8T, an automatic and 4mo. It was certified and still has 2 yrs and 24K miles on the warranty.

Anyway, I there is a rattle/rumble/vibration anytime the engine is at about 1200 RPM. I usually happens on small inclines, and doesn't matter if you are decelerating through 1200 or accelerating through it is makes the noise. I can get it to sustain itself if i keep it at 1200 on the gas or on the brake.

I am hoping it is just a heat shield that rattles at the certain frequency the engine makes at 1200, but I don't know. It is kind of right at that point where the transmission engages and disengages, torque converter?

Passat (B7) :: Strong Vibration Leads To Flashing CEL

I leased my 2012 Passat SE 2.5 Manual in March and I have been happy with it overall; however, the car has some strange behavior. Sometimes, under hard acceleration while the clutch is partially engaged a strong vibration comes from the engine bay accompanied by a flashing check engine light that turns solid after about 10 seconds. The vibration feels similar to but not exactly like ABS brakes. I took it to the dealer, took a technician on a test drive, reproduced the event for him, and left it in their hands for a day or two. The check engine light code was for an engine misfire. They told me to contact them if it happened again. It has happened a few times ( I need to take it back). I would like to know if I have a defect or if there is a design flaw in one of the systems.

Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Strong Vibration Under Throttle

OK, I've got a 2006 2.0t with 76k on it. It's been a problem car, but I thought I'd nailed everything down. but the last month or so when I put gas in it it'll start rough. Today on the freeway I floored it to pass someone and it started vibrating violently and the check engine light started blinking, I let off the gas and suddenly the vibration went away and it was just smooth as can be. But when ever I accelerate through 2.5-4k on the tach it gets rough again. No clue what's going on and unfortunately I'm not in a spot where I can fix anything expensive on it. What's going on?

Subaru - Outback :: Heavy Vibration When Running Over A Rumble Strip

My 2001 Outback has developed a problem in the last few days. When I move the car from a dead stop, I go through a brief period of heavy vibration coming from the back of the car, exactly as if I am running over a rumble strip. It occurs as I am accelerating away from the stop just after the clutch is totally let out. Once I get to a high-enough velocity, I no longer feel it. However, if I maintain a very low velocity I can feel some vibration but not quite as pronounced as it was coming from a dead stop.

I have been able to make this happen in 1st and 2nd gear, I have not tried in 3rd, 4th and 5th. It does not happen in reverse. I tested the clutch by putting the car up against the back wall of my garage, revving the engine and putting the car into 4th and 5th gear and the car stalled, as it should. The clutch did not slip. This clutch has about 60,000 miles on it. The previous clutch was replaced at about 85,000 miles. The problem has been getting worse steadily during a just completed a 700 mile holiday round trip. Could this be the clutch? Could it be something in the transmission?

Toyota - Highlander :: 2009 - Low Rumble / Vibration From Lower Front End

Just had front Rotors and 4 brake pads replaced. Afterward, I noticed after the car has been in motion for a few minutes, a low rumble sound and vibration occurs randomly and usually at low RPM 1500-2500. Vehicle is a 2009 Highlander 4 cyl at 72000 miles.

Toyota service dealer ran diagnostic check and could not find anything.

Second opinion - mechanic swears it's coming from transmission drum and beginning of trans going.

Third opinion- shocks are starting to go and likely root cause on the sound/sensation.

Fourth opinion, wheel alignment or warped rotor likely the cause.

Performed wheel alignment, slight improvement but rumble is still evident. One replaced rotor has a pronounced groove on exterior. Serviceman suggested we won the lottery and the groove came from a rock from the street hitting the rotor.

Finally, it was determined we need to replace intermediate drive shaft due to knocking sound when turning the steering wheel. Not likely related to the low rumble.

Prius (Gen 3) :: 2010 - Strong Vibration When Using Brakes On Hot Days

I have a 2010 Prius. Lately it has been in the 80s and 90s here. After my car has been sitting for awhile in the heat (usually during the work day), there is a strong vibration when using brakes. The vibration occurs after I have come to a complete stop, and lasts for 2-3 seconds. After 10-15 minutes, the issue stops. On cooler days I haven't noticed an issue.
