Honda - Acura :: 2002 - Transmission Malfunction - Goes To Neutral While Driving / Approaching Stop Sign

I own a 2002 Acura TL- car has 100K, i am the original owner- always maintained etc.. I am having problems with the transmission- car was in accident back in 2005, and tranny was replaced..Anyways, when i back car out and then hit it in drive, car goes to neutral. also when i drive, approach stop sign, and then accelerate, car goes to netural- dealer says need new tranny- cost is 2400 plus tax.... so i was thinking of doing that but now they say there is a leak with the oil pump- i said i dont see oil leaking they say its hitting the pan, could go in a month or in a year- cost 1200 to fix.. then he said the brake lines will need to be changed evenually- again 1000 or more.....ball joints- they quoated me 625...

So they say they will give me 500 bucks for a trade in- this car is in really good conditiion except for the supposed problems they found..If they car wouldnt have these problems i would get the tranny fixed- but i dont know what to do- ball joints dont have to be replaced- they hvae a little play.. the oil leak? I mean i have a 2000 accord that the dealer says is leaking- my private mechanic says all accords leak.

Honda - Fit :: 2011 - How To Do Air Conditioning Preservation

On my previous cars (1992 Mercury Tracer and 1995 Taurus) the air conditioning eventually went out. That has me thinking about how to keep it going for as long as possible in my new car (2011 Honda Fit). My theory is that by not putting the temperature on the lowest setting, and not running the fan speed past the 2nd setting, that the system will go longer before needing to be replaced. Am I right?

Honda - Cr-v :: 2007 - Air Conditioning Shutting Off When Car Stops

I have a 2007 Honda CRV. Last year the air conditioning stopped working and my local shop said the compressor went out and replaced it. It's been a very cold and wet spring so I haven't needed to use the air until the other day - and discovered it wasn't working again. Took it back and they said it was a leaky valve - replaced that and recharged it. When I drove it next, it was blowing cold air nicely, but I noticed when I stopped the car at a light, the car kinda shuddered like the engine was going to die. It didn't and I drove on, but the air conditioning stopped blowing cold air a little bit later. I turned it off, waited a minute and then when I turned it back on, the air was cold again. Every time I stopped the same thing would happen - engine acted like it was going to die and then air stopped working a little later.

Honda - Odyssey :: 2010 - Air Conditioning Intermittently Blowing Warm Air

We have a 2010 honda Odyssey and we are experiencing some air conditioning problems. The ac went out on us about 6 months ago so we had the compressor replaced. A few weeks after that the ac would intermittently start blowing warm air. We took it back to the shop and they noted that the compressor was shutting off for some reason. They replaced the compressor again, but we are still experiencing the same problem. It will just start blowing warm air for about 15-20 minutes then it will start blowing cold again. This will happen about once every 2-3 days. We replaced the relay, but that didn't work. They have checked for leaks, recharged the compressor and checked the freon and still nothing.

Civic - Honda :: 2000 - Air Conditioning (cold Side) Functions Intermittently

2002 Honda Civic LX

Maybe a year ago I started having problems with air conditioning. The hot air part works fine, no problem whatsoever. But the cold air thing doesn't work as it used to. It's not the fan - the fan blows enough air for a little storm, it's just not cold enough.

First time I noticed, it just stopped making cold air for maybe 15 minutes. Air was coming in at ambient temperature, not even a degree cooler than that. Then it started working again. Ever since then I've had intermittent failures like this, and then it would start working again. It's not a change in flow, it's a change in temperature.

Second symptom - even when it does work, it seems inconstant. Before, I could just set it and forget. Now sometimes it seems more fidgety, and I have to keep turning the button when it starts acting up.

Third symptom - it doesn't seem to make any cold air at all when the engine is idle. The engine must run at normal cruise speed to get any cold air out of it. Before, it was slow to make cold air when idle, I had to wait a while, but eventually it would start to make cold air. Nowadays, if I'm coasting downhill, there's no cold air at all.

I'm worried that one day it will stop working altogether. Plus, it's not fun when it's hot outside and this thing decides to take a vacation. I didn't care about it in winter, because the hot air works fine, but now that summer is knocking at the door, this is suddenly a problem.

What might have gone wrong? Is it something that's easy to fix at home, or should I take it to the mechanic?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Windshield Ejector Malfunction

When I pull the wipers lever backwards, washer fluid supply in tank lowers, but there don`t come liquid out for the jets.
The rear jets don`t spray liquid . The auto sweeping function works OK (7 times).

The only way to spray a little of liquid is pulling the lever many times at once.

I deduct that the fluid is going or evaporating somewhere, The pump makes the noise that`s working...as always.

Someone told me that ejectors are clogged, but I used a pin to clean them and some liquid spits out.

Gti - Volkswagen :: 2005 - Electrical Malfunction - Windshield Wipers Go On By Themselves?

My daughter has a 2005 VW GTI which has had a series of bizarre electrical problems. The latest was with the windshield wipers. Sometimes they work properly. Often, when the weather gets damp, they go on by themselves. (This is not a feature - they don't automatically go on when it rains, it might just be humid.) Sometimes, turning the front wipers off will turn the back wipers on. Turning the back wipers on will turn the front wipers off. The other day, she needed to drive 40 miles to work. It was not raining at the time, but it was threatening.

The only way to turn the front wipers off, was to turn the back wiper on. The only way we could get both wipers off at the same time, was to remove the fuse for the back wiper and turn the back wiper on. In the event of rain, she could then turn the back wiper off to make the front wipers go on. We have brought the car to the dealer several times. They replaced the relay twice. They swear they have checked the entire system and can find nothing wrong. The last time it happened, we showed them that it was impossible to turn the wipers off. They have seen the problem, but they still can't fix it.

Touareg :: A/C Malfunction - Front Grill Flew Off - Smashed Windshield

Well, due to an unresolved A/C issue my dealer has had my Treg for 2 weeks out of the past 2 months and then my front grill flew off and smashed my windshield. Dealership agreed to cover the damage but managed to sell-off my replacement windshield by accident. Been driving around for 2 weeks with a badly cracked windshield, waiting for replacement glass. Funny thing is that the crack in the glass now has made my "rainsensing" wipers trigger better than before. But now I have

Lexus GX 2004-09 :: Auto Windshield Wiper Malfunction - Sensor Going Bad?

My auto windshield wiper function has become real sensitive...When driving in the lightest rain or even mist, my wipers start intermittently, then go faster and faster until they are going steadily, and in medium-light rain, often go to high speed. They never did this in the past, this has recently started. I turn them off, then back on and the process repeats. The auto wiper was always wonderful in the past, but not now.

Is there some kind of adjustment for this problem? Is my windshield sensor going bad?

Ford - Fans - Expedition :: Defrosting Fan Comes On By Itself

When my 1999 Ford Expedition is turned off and sitting there, even for hours, the defrosting fan comes on by itself. I can feel cold air coming through the vents inside the car. The fan will turn off if I turn on the key or even if I step on the brake pedal, with the car still off. It won't stay off until I disconnect the battery. It seems to occur only when the temperature drops, like below freezing (coincidence??).

The other day, I left the fan running for several hours, it never turned off, I then disconnected the battery. It ran the battery down. Randomly/intermittently the dashboard clock, windshield wiper, or radio won't work when the car is running. I recently bought a new battery . I recently replaced the outside mirrors. Also, the passenger side window won't go up or down using the passenger side control but will using the drivers side control.

Why a mirror would stop defrosting?

Honda - Cr-v :: 2001 - AC Malfunction / After Loud Noise Went Out

My wife and I have a 2001 Honda CR-V with approximately 91,600 miles on it. Standard transmission. Air conditioning. About three weeks ago, she reported that she suddenly heard a loud noise and the AC went out. No engine light, but the noise from the engine compartment was loud and she was concerned about the safe operation of the vehicle.We took it to a Honda dealer.

Their diagnosis: Just the AC system, which needs to be replaced. Their estimated cost of replacement was $3800. I deferred on paying that price for replacement of the AC system. They stated that the vehicle was ok to operate, but we just wouldn't have air. We paid a fair amount for their evaluation of the problem. (I also asked them to look at the clutch, which they said was ok.)The noise continued from the hood of the car.In the meantime, I got a quote over the phone from another mechanic that replacement of the AC system could be done at significantly lower cost.Just before we were going to take the CRV to the mechanic, I get a call from my wife to inform me that she's stranded. The CRV won't start and run.We called AAA. Their guy comes out and simply cuts a belt to the AC compressor clutch. Problem solved and noise eliminated. The CRV is now with the other mechanic.

Honda - Accord :: 1991 - Electrical Circuits Malfunction

Have a 91 Honda Accord (automatic) with seems to be an electrical problem.After driving a while the Tac, Speedometer stop working and the radio cuts in and out. The car still runs, just a little rougher; when I turn it off it won't start, acts like the battery is dead. After it sits overnight it starts and then runs fine for a while or until it happens all over again.

Honda - Odyssey :: 2003 - Electrical Malfunction - A/C Won't Work Sometimes

I have a 2003 Odyssey EX - everything was working fine up up to last year. When summer was almost at an end, the A/C suddenly failed. I pressed the 'Auto' button, I heard the compressor kick in and felt the slight kick/drop in rpm like normal, but after about 3-5 seconds the compressor disengaged and the engine went back to unhindered idle speed. The A/C console was still set at Auto, so i turned it off then back on, but this time there was no compressor kick in at all. At first I thought a fuse blew, but I checked them and they were all fine. I continued on my way and decided I would just turn on the fan/blower, but it didn't work either. It didn't matter if I set the console for auto or manual, heat or cold, when I turned the fan knob to any speed it would not turn on - with the following exception: If I turned it all the way to max and waited about 10 seconds or more, then it wold blow at full speed. Same would happen if I put it on auto and turned the temperature knob to lowest or highest temperature - after 10 seconds it would turn on the fan at max speed (since I figure consoles are programmed to go to max fan at temperature extremes to get to either one faster...)Also of note: When I turned off the vehicle, and turned it back on at a later time, the compressor again wold kick in for 5 seconds then turn off......and by the way the rear fan control works just fine throughout all this.

Since the summer was over, I didn't need the A/C and figure I would fix before the next summer. Every once in the while I would test again, and a couple of months later the A/C decided to work just fine for a whole day, but then it went back to the odd behavior

So now I'm thinking the environment console is busted and I need to replace it, except other things start to behave erratically:First was the break release for the transmission lever. I wold press down on the break but could not hear the 'click' that releases the transmission lever to shift out of park. That first time I just couldn't get it to work, so I used the emergency release on the top of the steering column, but after that I could simply pump the break or release and pump repeatedly until the click happened, usually took 3 tries. The funny thing is that this becomes consistent for about a week, and then months will pass with no problems shifting out of park, only to happen again for a week...

On some rare occasions, the interior lights don't work they way they are supposed to: They'll stay on when with all doors closed even when set to turn on only with open doors, or won't turn on at all with the same setting even with a door open (rarer still, will turn on with one door, but not another). I can always just set them to remain off all the time...

Same kind of issues with the rear windows and cruise control, most times they'll work fine, others they don't.

The only thing I really need to work in this Texas heat is the A/C, but before I go get an expensive A/C console replacement, or have technicians accumulate hours and hours of diagnosis to figure out the problem, I wanted to know if perhaps these are all related as an electrical issue with a buss-bar or a junction box - or a short from stripped wires in the harness, loose terminals, etc.

Civic - Honda - Airconditioning :: 1997 - AC Malfunction / Blow Hot Air

I have a '97 Honda Civic w/ about 168k miles, am hoping to get at least another year or two out of it before I go looking for a used Honda Fit or something similarly budget-minded to replace it. I just ran the A/C on cold for the first time this season (I realize I was running it all winter when I defrosted the windows), and it was clearly not working, just blowing hot air. Now, the last time I had anything done with the A/C was in 2005, when I was in a minor accident and the very nice mechanic flushed it and replaced the freon (if I have that right) for no extra charge in the course of uncrumpling the front of the car for me.

Which brings up two issues:

1) I no longer have a trustworthy mechanic where I live, and have had much difficulty finding one, and
2) the car already has a salvage title so is worth about $500 max.

Now, obviously it is worth more than that to me, since it will still be cheaper to fix than get anything else, but I have the impression that A/C repair could get quite expensive, and it is enough to make me wonder if I could afford the monthly payment and insurance increase on that used Honda Fit..

Honda - Odyssey :: Windshield Wipers When Turned On Then Won't Stop

Ok, so I have replaced the switch on my windshield wipers brought the car into the shop on several occasions and no one can figure out what is going on. Right now they are Gerry rigged to bypass the breaker so they can at least work. At first they stopped working, they blew the fuse, to make a long story longer, the fuse would blow after every third time the car engine started. So the mechanic gerry rigged the fuse, the alternating wiping wouldn't work anymore, but at least the wipers worked, which in Oregon is a huge issue. Then last week, the wipers would spontaneously every 9 seconds move from resting position to 1/4 of the way up the windshield. That spontaneously stopped after about a week, now when I turn the wipers on they won't stop.
