Ford - Escapehybrid :: 2006 - Wheel Well On Passenger Side Completely Rusted Away Beneath The Fender
I have a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid with about 90,000 miles on it. It still runs very well and I like the vehicle a lot, but I am about to junk it because the rear wheel well on the passenger side has completely rusted away beneath the fender. The shock absorber is hanging loose because there is not metal left to bolt it to. I looked on the Internet and I saw that several other owners have had the same problem. I took it to the body shop at the dealer where I bought the vehicle and the manager said he had never seen anything like it. The vehicle is long out of warranty and the web information seems to indicate that Ford won't do anything about it, even though they're aware of the problem.

View 5 RepliesFord Ranger / B-Series :: 2002 - Shutting Down While Driving
Our Ranger, 2002, 4 cyl. 2.3 5 speed is shutting down while driving. This has happened twice very recently. Both times on interstate at highway speed. First it loses power then completely shuts down. After stopping, turning key "off" it restarts and runs fine. It does take a longer time to crank before starting.
It is not throwing any codes and the CE is not coming on. I suspect the fuel pump is shutting down. Seems like fuel pressure loss is reason for loss of power? Then extended cranking to restart is the initial build up? What else could it be? If not the pump itself, is there something that would take away power from the pump then get reset?
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Truck Was Shutting Off While Driving
Last week the engine in my truck was shutting off while driving. Happened to me 3 times over the course of two days. The first couple of times, the engine was dead for 3-5 seconds and then the engine would come alive and drive normally again. The third time was about a 10 second event...same result, engine refired on it's own and drove normally. I was in motion all three times so the engine restarts all occurred before I was able to bring the truck to a complete stop.
No check engine light...(I didn't pull any codes because I didn't have my laptop with me). So, I decided to try a new CPS. I had one in my glove box since 2003 so in it went. It replaced a black CPS that I purchased from Riffraff about 100k miles ago. The new CPS seems to have done the trick. I've driven about 500 miles since the swap and the symptom has not returned. I wonder how long this one will last. It's a Ford replacement part so maybe I'll get another 100k miles...
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Shutting Down At Idle Or While Driving?
So I have this intermittent problem of the truck shutting down on its own when in idle or idling along in drive I immediately put the truck in N, turn the key and she starts right up again.
Does not do it at speeds, just in idle. The "check gage" and "battery" light are the only dash lights on after a shut down.
Where do I start?

View 9 RepliesGrand AM :: 2000 SE Shutting Off While Driving And Not Starting
So we've been having trouble with the car which is a 2000 Grand Am SE 2.4ltr. This all started a month ago. One day the car wouldn't start. I bought a new battery (old one was 5 years old time for a new one) and started and ran just fine for the first day. The next day the car did not start. After having my brother in law check it out, he suggested we get a new fuel pump relay so I went out and bought it. It fixed the problem and the car was starting and running again. A few days later while my brother and I where driving down south, the car shut off while driving. It started happening more and more to the point were it happened everyday.
When the car shuts off, all the lights stay on and a noise comes from the dashboard. The noise sounds electrical. The car usually would start after 30 minutes to an hour. Last night it shut off on me and it didn't start after 2 hours of sitting on the side of the road. It doesn't happen at highway speeds, only really while driving locally. Now the car is still not starting and I've no clue as to what could be the problem. I've read that it can be a number of things. From the fuel pump, dirty fuel filter, ecu, ignition coil, etc.
Prius (2004-09) :: Engine Shutting Down While Driving - Multiple Codes
Three times recently my 2008 Touring Edition Prius has experienced a shutdown of the engine while driving. Each time I was able to coast and/or use battery power to get to a safe location. The “Triangle-of-Death” and the Check Engine Light was illuminated on the dashboard. Since my car is equipped with a scangauge, I was able to see the codes and clear them on the spot. After restarting the car, it showed no adverse reaction to shutting down and all was seemingly well until the next event. The codes listed below all seem to be communication lapses.
My question is; where do I start in my pursuit to diagnose and repair?
7/15/14 - 98,889 miles U0293 and U0100
7/23/14 - 99,414 miles U0293 and U0100
8/21/14 - 101,065 miles U0100 and U0000

View 1 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2002 V6 Shutting Off While Driving - Oil Lamp Flash And STOP Warning
After starting the car and driving for about 10-15 minutes a few days ago I came to a stop in a parking lot and the car shut off and would not re-start for about 5 minutes. The car started again so I shrugged it off and drove on. About 10 minutes down the road again the oil lamp started to flash and the STOP warning came up. I unfortunately was on a one lane construction zone so I had to limp for a minute to clear it so I could pull over. The car would switch from responding/non-responding to the gas pedal. Finally pulled it off to the side got it towed home and to the mechanic. I haven't heard any news yet but I'm trying to gather some info.
Just a few things I've read about looking into :
-ECT (Engine coolant temperature sensor) ...
-Oil pump ...

View 11 RepliesFord Ranger / B-Series :: Passenger Middle Of Floor Wet When Raining
I haven't ever been able to figure out why the middle of my passenger floor board gets wet when it rains or I go through a carwash. It's definitely not a heater core leaking. I don't see or feel any moisture under the seats further back or further up near the cowl, or roof. It's exactly in the middle of the passenger floor. Is there a plug under there? I've yet to pull back the carpet to look. I plan on eventually replacing the carpet but I want to figure out what the water is. It gets a musty smell because of the water. It's not a lot of water, not a puddle, just you can lift up the floor mat and see the moisture on it. So it's under the carpet. Windshield was replaced 3 or 4 years ago.
