Camry :: 2005 - A/C Malfunction - Don't Blow Really Cold Air

The a/c on my '05 Camry still puts out cool air, but not really cold anymore. I compare with my '08 Highlander that can still freeze your arms off in no time. We have had a warm spell lately, which is supposed to continue for another week, and while the Camry is putting out enough to eventually cool the air, it's just not up to it's usual standard. Are these a/c systems supposed to be sealed, and if so, is a leak the most likely reason ? I have not had it serviced in the past 3 years I've owned it. Is it worth it to try the "do-it-yourself" canned a/c service bottles or should I get the system pressure checked out first ?

Passat (B5) :: 2005 - AC Malfunction / Blow Hot Air And Sometimes Cold

2 weeks ago my ac on my 2005 passat started working on and off, sometimes it would blow hot air and sometimes it would blow cold air. I took it to an independent shop (which we trust, they been working on our cars for a long time and never been ripped off...but first time I've taken a Volkswagen to them) and they just did an AC diagnostic test and re-filled the Freon, replaced the filter...it worked for 1 hour and went back to blowing hot air again, so I took it back and they said a valve stem was loose, causing the AC to work sometimes and not others, so they replaced that with a new one, my AC worked for 4 days...than on the 5th day it blew hot air again.. What could possibly be causing this??? It is stressing me out, especially since I need AC in hot Houston summer weather.

Civic - Honda - Airconditioning :: 1997 - AC Malfunction / Blow Hot Air

I have a '97 Honda Civic w/ about 168k miles, am hoping to get at least another year or two out of it before I go looking for a used Honda Fit or something similarly budget-minded to replace it. I just ran the A/C on cold for the first time this season (I realize I was running it all winter when I defrosted the windows), and it was clearly not working, just blowing hot air. Now, the last time I had anything done with the A/C was in 2005, when I was in a minor accident and the very nice mechanic flushed it and replaced the freon (if I have that right) for no extra charge in the course of uncrumpling the front of the car for me.

Which brings up two issues:

1) I no longer have a trustworthy mechanic where I live, and have had much difficulty finding one, and
2) the car already has a salvage title so is worth about $500 max.

Now, obviously it is worth more than that to me, since it will still be cheaper to fix than get anything else, but I have the impression that A/C repair could get quite expensive, and it is enough to make me wonder if I could afford the monthly payment and insurance increase on that used Honda Fit..

Ford - Ranger :: 1998 - Check Engine Light Came On / Misfire Monitor Malfunction

I have a '98 For Ranger. After 256,000 miles, I recently had a new (rebuilt) motor put in my truck. After about 2 days of driving with the new engine, the Check Engine light came on. I went to Auto Zone and had the codes checked, and these two codes came up:

"Misfire monitor malfunction"

"Oxygen circuit slow response bank 2 sensor 1"

The guy at Auto Zone couldn't tell me what they meant. Is this something serious that needs to be checked out immediately or have anything to do with the new motor that was put in?

Grand Prix :: 1998 GTP 2 - Can't Get Air To Blow Much Out Of Floor Vents

I have a 98 gtp 2 door with the electronic dual zone climate control. I can't get air to blow much out of the floor vents. I applied vacuum directly to the actuator and air came from the vents fine. It seems there is a box behind the glove box that controls the vacuum to each actuator. My question is, would the issue likely be with that vacuum distribution box or with the electronic climate box itself.

After reaching a destination and parking in the hot sun the compressor will not blow cold air. If the day is overcast or cool, the air conditioning works fine. What the problem might be?

Ford - Fivehundred :: 2005 - AC Will Blow Cold When Running Fast And Then Blow Hot

I'm at the end of my rope! My 2005 Ford Five Hundred Limited has a constant problem with the A/C system and overheating. In the last year I've replaced the compress, expansion valve, dryer FOUR times. They have replaced the condenser, blower motor, and added Freon, and checked for leaks. It will blow cold when running fast and then blow hot. They have replaced belts pulleys, They have replaced the thermostat, fans, coolant reservoir, hoses. and it still overheats. I've taken it to 4 difference mechanics including two dealerships. No one can seem to fix this problem.

Lexus ES 2007-12 :: 1998 - Electrical Malfunction / Won't Start

My wife loves this car except when it won't start, and unfortunately that's happened from time to time recently. The first time was when we were out of town, when we got home, it wouldn't start. No big deal. But since then, it's developed the habit of draining the battery over very short times. We put in an after-market stereo a couple years ago, I thought that must be the problem. Pulled the fuse so it wouldn't play. Overnight the battery ran down. The battery is almost new. I took it back to the seller of the battery and had it checked. It's fine. My nephew told me that when he had a 1998 ES300, it had a similar problem. Obviously some type of battery drain, but I'm at a loss. The Lexus dealer cannot diagnose the problem.

Brakes on 1998 1/2 Mercury Mystique pull to the right. Everything except the master cylinder has been replaced. Online info from people with similar problems,show replacing master cylinder has not worked. Appears to be a lot of people with the same problem yet they cannot find the root of the problem. No recall has been issued. I have been to the dealership and several repair shops and I am sinking money into a problem that has yet to be resolved.

My 98 blazer (130k)recently started showing code p0740 tcc circuit malfunction..

The truck runs fine (except for the water pump I just blew) this is a tranny solenoid code. but my tranny seems to be shifting ok..

Is the solenoid easy and cheap enough to replace myself? I am trying to make up my mind if its time to start thinking of trading this blazer in on something with less miles or to fix it up and keep on trucking..

Saturn :: 1998 SL2 Driver Door Lock Switch Failure / Key Fob Malfunction

I was having intermittent problems with my key fob. I replaced several times, but still had problems with it not working. (A real joy when the alarm is armed). Recently, the driver's door switch (lock/unlock) failed completely. All of a sudden, the key fob is working perfectly (so far) again. Could the failing switch have been causing the fob malfunction all along? I'd like to use the fob, but I'm not fond of the part where the car is alarmed and it won't disengage.

Chevrolet - 1500 :: 1998 - Brakes Malfunction / Truck Not Starting Smoothly

I have a 1998 Chevy K1500 4x4 which is experiencing issues on two fronts: brakes and general operation.

For the brakes, over the last couple years, we have replaced just about every part of the system, including - master cylinder - calipers - brake lines. In addition, in the last week, I worked with a local mechanic to bleed the lines and he turned the rotors as well. The result is that while the truck does stop, the pedal height is still really high and feels like there's no pressure until the pedal's nearly to the floor. I get the feeling that if I needed to stop abruptly or at a higher speed than 35mph, I wouldn't be able to. I'm not sure what needs to happen next.

As to the general operation: the first time I start the truck on any given day, it fires up and runs smoothly. If I take it across town, however, and put it in the park, it gasps, sputters, and dies. It is then very difficult to get the vehicle to start again--usually, I have to push the gas pedal all the way to the floor and grind the starter until the engine turns over. After that, I have to keep my foot on the accelerator for 15-30 seconds at around 3000 RPM as the truck shudders and lurches, until it smooths out. Once I put it into drive or reverse, however, it dies, unless I am quick to push the accelerator again. Until recently, the truck had only been driven four times in the last two years or so. So far, I have: - replaced the air filter - added fresh gas (to the old) - added an engine treatment (Sea-Foam) Everything I have done is stuff that needs to be taken care of anyway, and I want to take care of all the little things before I take it to a dealership to have a full diagnostic run on it. I also plan to have an oil change done on it this week.
