I have a 2007 Camry, had it since 06 and just recently I am starting to hear a humming noise when I turn my steering wheel to the left or right.
View 3 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Power Steering And Brake Make Noise / Slight Humming
I recently had a close encounter with some large rocks on a bad road and broke the power steering cooler. I lost some fluid and pressure as I had no brakes and it steered like a log truck. Replaced the damaged part and added fluid. I was informed by ford technician that air in the lines would make noise but would eventually work itself out. Well the brakes work and steering is getting better but it is noisy with steering and brakes. How long should it take to get the air out? PS the fluid looks foamy now. I should also mention it was making a slight humming noise before the incident with the rock.

I have had a few times when my 2013 Chevy Traverse LT suddenly jumped to a low gear while quickly slowing down, causing the RPMs to jump up to 4-5000 RPMs. It remains in that gear until I am practically stopped. Is this normal?

I've taken my Traverse in to the shop twice now and they can't seem to find the problem - it misses going up gentle grades, especially when on cruise control and higher speeds. First they said timing belt, then spark plug wire, but it's happening again and I'm about to take it back in. The last time they test drove it and they said they couldn't duplicate the symptoms but I think they didn't take it out for long enough of a test.

View 5 RepliesChevrolet - Traverse :: 2010 Vehicle Won't Start Afterwards When Filled Up The Tank
My wife's 2010 Chevy Traverse has 85,000 miles, and has run great over the years. The past 4 or 5 times we filled up the tank, the vehicle won't start right afterward. It turns over, but seems like it's either flooded or starved of fuel. Then, after a few tries it gets going and starts up fine until the next fill-up. The "Check Engine" light has not come on during this. At least one time it was way down on gas, and at least one of the times it had almost a quarter tank - same result. I called 2 of my repair buddies and they don't have the answer.

I have a 2011 with 42k. While doing a front brake job, I noticed that the driver's side wheel hub while rotating it sounded noisy, it did not rotate as smoothly when compared to the right side. I have also noticed while driving that their is a slight humming noise from the front but always attributed it to the Bridgestone Turanazas. Maybe it is the tires and I just over reacting. Is this normal for the hub? Here is a video clip with sound. Is this wheel hub going bad?
View 3 RepliesCamry 2012+ :: Car Making A Kind Of Slight Humming Noise Only For A Second
I have a 2012 Toyota Camry SE I4 with about 34,500 miles. I have noticed that over the past 2 weeks, the car make a kind of slight humming noise only for a second. It only happens first thing in the morning after the first start of the day. Its not right away, it happens after I pull out of the driveway, and as I drive away it happens at about 10 mph. The noise will not happen till the following day after a cold start. I have tried to pinpoint the sound and it doesn't matter how long I let the car warm up and it doesn't matter if the heater is running or not. It will still make the noise. The car runs good other than this noise.
View 4 RepliesCamry 2012+ :: Slight Humming Noise During Initial Acceleration At About 8-10mph
This noise sound as if an electric motor going off for a second only. It almost sounds as a CD changer changing cds but for a second only.
What is weird is that it only sounds when the car has been off, turn it on and I start accelerating to about 8-10mph. If I come to a complete stop at a stop light and accelerate again it will not sound. If i come to complete stop and put the car in park or N, it will not sound. You will only hear it on the first take off when the car has been off.
I would also like to point that I have manually shifted and this does not change a thing. The noise still comes on around 8-10mph even if I keep it in 1st gear.
Furthermore, I would also like to point out that the noise is is not loud. Chances are I will not hear if I have radio on at low levels or the A/C fan in mid to high.
Again, the sounds seems to come from the outside the cab and it sounds like an electric motor going off for about one second only.
The car is a 2012 l4 with about 60k miles on the odo.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Rhythmic Humming Noise If Give Slight Throttle At Around 50 Mph
09 i4 AUTO 47K miles ... When the car is running at around 50mph and if I give it very slight throttle (enough only to keep speed constant), I would hear this rhythmic humming noise. The hum rhythm has a frequency of about 1/2 second each. It is very muffled, almost like exhaust noise or tire noise. However, if I downshift to 4th gear, keep the same speed, and apply the throttle in the same way, the noise doesn't occur.
View 13 RepliesChevrolet - Hhr :: Humming Noise Coming From Car
I recently hit a pothole and damaged one of my custom wheels to the point it was dangerous to drive on, I could not find a matching wheel for the car (2007 Chevy HHR) and had to drive on the donut spare for about three days, I put the spare on the rear passenger side, So for about three days I was driving with an 18" rim on one side and a donut spare on the other. I noticed a humming sound when I get to 40 mph. I thought it was just the sound of the tread on the spare, But I have since bought new rims and tires and the humming sound is still there. Again, I only hear it when I get to about 40 MPH, below that, no sound at all. The car seems to shift smoothly. Could driving on two different tires on the rear end have screwed up my differential?

View 5 RepliesChevrolet - Suburban :: 2002 - Faint Humming Noise Coming From The Rear
I have a 2002 suburban . I have a humming noise coming from the rear . It starts at 45mph and then goes away at 47mph. I hear it again between 60-65 mph then goes away . This is a faint sound . When pulling a trailer the sound is much more noticeable and more constant from 55-64 mph . When I let off the gas the sound is still there and fades as the truck slows. Am I dealing with a bad tire ( I plan to rotate them to see if that is the cause ) or a wheel or axle bearing ? To note I replaced the front wheel hub/bearings just about a year ago .
View 2 RepliesMalibu - Chevrolet :: Humming Noise From The Front When Turning Left On The Highway
I have a 2002 Malibu and we have had the car about 3 years and since we purchased the car it has what a humming noise from the front when changing lanes on the highway or when making curves on the highway only when turning left.
Being an avid Car Talk listener, I decided this was probably being caused by wheel bearings and I decided to tackle the job myself and changed both left and right front wheel hubs and the noise did not change, it is still there exactly as before ! I also replaced the brake pads and rotors while it was apart.
Remembering other car talk conversations, I decided next that it must be the tires, I replaced the tires which were due for replacement anyway and guess what ? The noise is still there exactly as before !
Out of ideas, I took it to a mechanic and he said that he ran the car on the lift and was able to reproduce the noise on the lift and he felt it was coming from the differential within the transmission. While it was at the shop I had him do a wheel alignment as well to eliminate any sort of suspension issue.
My question, does this make any sense ? To me when the car is on the lift, the differential really isn't doing anything, the wheels aren't turning at different speeds because they aren't touching anything therefore to me, the diagnosis of differential doesn't hold water.
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Slight Miss After Truck Is Up To Operating Temperature
I have a 2004 f150 with 135000 miles. Bought it a few months ago. I notice after the truck is up to operating temperature it seems to have a slight miss, you can kind of feel it when sitting in the truck. Cant really hear it. Outside the truck I am hearing a ticking sound. I have changed the spark plugs on the passenger side, because that's where the ticking sound was coming from.
Come to find out the last spark plug in the back was finger loose. Got them changed, on that side. Still have the miss after warmed up along with the ticking. Few weeks fast forward I put all 8 new COP on. Same results. I also have changed the oil and filter both with Motorcraft. Where I could look? I also have a 1 year unlimited mile power-train warranty.
Passat (B7) :: Humming Noise At Highway Speeds When Car Is In 6th Gear
I picked up a 2012 2.5L SE w/ Sunroof and Nav over the Christmas holiday.
I have been driving back and forth between Dallas and Kansas for work and I've notice an "odd" noise at highway speeds. When I have the cruise control set for the upper 70's and the car is in 6th, I can hear, for lack of a better word, a hum from the rear of the car. If I switch the Tiptronic down to 5th the hum goes away. As soon as I shift back to 6th, it returns.
Subaru - WRX :: 2005 - Humming Noise When Car Is In Gear And Moving Only
My Subaru started making a noise that the mechanic can't seem to identify - I hear it when the car is in gear and moving only - it's like a humming noise that increases in frequency as the car goes faster and winds down as I approach a stop - it totally stops if the car is not moving even though the engine is running. It doesn't sound like it's coming from the tires. It's a noise that I feel like I've heard coming from a K car or a Chrysler or something. It's not a rattling but rather changes regularly with acceleration/deceleration. I was thinking it might have something to do with the turbo. The car seems a little sluggish (more than lag in the turbo, maybe?)
View 6 RepliesStalling - Gasoline - Pump - Chevrolet - Noises - Lumina :: 1997 - Loud Humming Noise?
I bought the car( like six months ago) there has always been a loud humming noise from the fuel pump ( I'm pretty sure it is the fuel pump anyways) not the normal whirring noise the fuel pump makes but a hum you can hear about ten feet away. Had no issues till just lately when the afternoons are well into a hundred degrees. That is when my car starts giving me issues. After one of these hot days on my ride home from work, I had just come off the highway and stopped at a stop light when I felt the engine bogging out, the engine stalled and I had to push it to the side of the road.
Its worth mentioning that this humming noise is much louder in the heat than the cool morning then when I turned the key to hear the fuel pump(auto fuel inject) it was louder than it has ever been, and would keep stalling on the way home, I had at the most a quarter tank of gas (gas boy is busted/stuck I think) the fuel pump is bad? Could it be the sock? I thought I read somewhere that my girl pump uses gas to cool down, and that having the tank any less than a quarter could lead to the fuel pump overheating????
