Camry :: Knocking Sound From Back Side Of 2007 LE
Today I went to my trusted mechanic to find out what is making a knocking sound in the rear on my 07 Camry LE. He told me that this part [URL] ... is loose and I need to replace a rubber piece. I believe this is a stabilizer? I want to try to do this myself. How would I go about fixing this?
View 14 RepliesLexus LS 2007+ :: LS460 - Popping Noises When Braking From Front Drivers Side
I'm getting "popping" noises when braking from my front, drivers side suspension. Past knowledge tells me it's probably an upper control arm / Tie Rod/Swaybar link problem. Everything is nice and tight in there.
Also getting a violent "thumping" noise/feeling constantly when driving from the same side.
I just dropped it off at the dealer, and they are probably going to come back saying the upper control arm needs to be replaced (we will see).
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Brakes Dragging Sound Coming From Passenger Side Mainly When Car Is Cold
I have a 2011 Sonata with 40k miles and am hearing what sounds like a dragging ... medal touching medal .... brakes dragging sound coming from the passenger side mainly when the car is cold. Could this be a possible wheel bearing going out???
the car is lowered about an 1.5 inches and and sit on a staggered wheel set. 18x8.5 up front and 18x9.5 in the rear. Just want to know if I should be worried.
Camry :: 2007 SE - Clunking Noise In The Back Of Car When Braking?
Yesterday I had the rear rotors turned and installed some akebono brake pads. I drove it around and it sounded fine. Today my wife drove it to school and called me telling me whenever she came to a stop she would hear clunking noise in the back of the car. I drove it and its true.
I took off the tires again and all 4 bolts are tight on each side. I didn't know the torque specs so I tightened them enough yesterday. I applied the proper synthetic grease on the slide pins, the back of the pads and where the pads touch the caliper bracket.
Toyota - Camry - Noises - Wheels :: 2001 - Getting Sound At Slow Speed
I recently (<90 days, < 3K miles) had inner & outer tie rods replaced on the right side; they were rusted from when I lived in PA and had some play in them. Now I'm hearing a funny sound at low speeds (like when parking) that's just like a stick getting caught in the wheel well ("thunk") that seems to be coming from the same spot, but I can't seem to replicate it let alone hear it at the shop. This is a 2001 Camry LE 2.2L I4 with 97K mostly highway miles and one winter on salt/snow.
View 2 RepliesToyota - Prius - Noises :: Intermittent Tweeting Sound Coming From Front Driver Side
2006 Prius has a strange intermittent tweeting sound that appears to come from the front drivers side, maybe in the console. Mechanic says it is in the tires. But I just can't go with that. The sound almost is like a cricket...
View 3 RepliesEngines - Honda - Noises - Civichybrid :: 2006 - Rapid Clicking / Ticking Sound Roughly Under Right Side
I have a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid (automatic). The car has a bit under 200,000 miles on it, and has been used in a lot of long distance commuting and driving. We do pretty frequent check ups on it, and checked oil/other fluids last week -- all were good (the oil is admittedly getting close to needing a change, but definitely not within the next few weeks).
I was on the return trip of a 300+ mile drive when I noticed a rapid clicking/ticking sound roughly under the right side (passenger side) dash of the car. It was not affected by turning, accelerating or braking. The clicking was not constant, not very loud (I did not notice it over my music at first) and would come and go. If it was affected by anything, it appeared to come or go when a bump was hit, but that also wasn't necessarily always the case (hit bumps and it didn't stop, hit bumps and it didn't start). I checked wheel wells and under car for objects (suspension is a bit worn and car is low to begin with, so it rides close to ground and this has been a problem before; didn't seem similar) and there was nothing.
Google has led me to the possibility of sticky lifters, and though the sound is similar-ish, I am under the impression that this would be a much more constant noise and I am also fairly confident in the current quality of my oil.
Touareg :: Strange Sound From Front Passenger Side On Braking
Whenever I applies a brake and the was almost stop, I always heard a strange sound from the front passenger side. What is happened?
View 8 RepliesImpala - Chevrolet :: Grinding Sound From Driver Side Front When Braking
I have a 2003 Impala. Over the past couple of months I have had an occurance every so often, very random with my front driver side brake. In both rain and dry conditions, braking hard and just slowing to break I will hear what sounds like grinding when I brake, like you do when the pads are gone. Well, I have had the car in and the pads and rotor are fine, the place I took it to even test drove it and tried but couldn't get the sound. I posted here a while back on this issue and the view was that it might be the ABS, but when this occurs the ABS light doesn't come on and the sound is just coming from the driver side front. What my next move should be?
View 7 RepliesCamry :: 2002 - Thump / Clunk Near Passenger Side Front Wheel When Braking?
I have a 2002 Camry, and recently on the passenger side towards the front wheel there has been a fairly persistent thump or clunk when I brake at low speeds (i.e. immediately before a full stop). I took it to my local mechanic yesterday to see if he could figure it out, and unfortunately he wasn't, although he did point out that my dog bone was cracked and suggested changing that out. Afterwards, the thump/clunk did seem to be more subdued, but it's still obviously there.

View 12 RepliesMazda - 626 :: Dragging / Clunky Sound When Going Over 20 Mph
My Mazda 626 is making a really weird noise somewhere around the back left corner of the car (from the driver's seat). I just noticed it a couple of days ago, ironically enough, shortly after I picked it up from the mechanic for something totally unrelated!
I really only notice it when I'm going under 20mph. It's a dragging/clunky sound like something is loose. My husband checked it out briefly but didn't seem to notice anything different. I know I need to call my mechanic again, but after spending over $1,000 on repairs for both of our cars, my husband and I aren't thrilled about having to take this car back so quickly!
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: 2013 - Squealing Noises When Braking
My 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE has been making squealing noises when braking. However, this has gone away after a while. I read that squealing means it's time to change the brake pads. However, I don't hear the noise anymore. What happened?
Also I would like to know when to replace brake calipers, pads or rotors? I'm pretty sure the Hyundai service center is going to tell me some BS and charge me for extra things.
Prius (2004-09) :: Loud Dragging Sound
On a recent road trip, my 2009 Prius began making a loud dragging sound. Pulled into a car dealer at the freeway exit (Mazda) and found the black plastic shield on the front bumper had cracked down the middle and was dragging. I had them remove it to finish my drive home; my question now is, what should be considered a fair price for having this replaced? Last fall, I had a minor accident and had to have body work done on the hood and front fender; should I have the body shop that I used check it out, or stick with the dealer? I'm wondering if the shield might have cracked in the accident and was overlooked. As a single 50-something female, I just want to know what a repair like this might run, so I don't get taken for a ride.
View 7 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Making A Sound Like It Was Dragging Something
4 cyl automatic 58000 miles - Couple of days ago my wife said her car was making a sound like it was dragging something. It started as she came to a stop getting off the highway, and then intermittently the 5 miles home from there. I took it out right away and couldn't get it to do anything. Yesterday she said same thing. I got in the car and heard the sound immediately as I pulled away from the curb and at the first stop sign (hadn't gone over 15 mph yet) - then it went away.
I'd describe it as if you were scraping the edge of a piece of plywood on rough pavement.
Driveability seems fine so far. Was going to take it in for tranny fluid and coolant change anyway this week - I searched back quite a ways and didn't see similar post but thought I'd ask anyway.
Prius V :: Rattling Sound Coming From Back Seat / Right Side
Got my Prius v 5 in June and since then, there is the most obnoxious rattle coming from the back seat (passenger side). It's intermittent, depending on who's in the car with me. When I'm alone, it happens about 80% of the time. When my kids are in the car, it depends on which one and what seat they choose.
I've taken it to Toyota twice, and they're unable to detect the problem. I'm convinced that this is because the weight distribution is difficult to replicate. It is seriously making me crazy and I'm ready to turn the car in and get another (NOT a Toyota).
Passat (B7) :: Sound Like Metal Dragging Underneath Vehicle?
I was driving my new B7 Passat home for lunch today and noticed what sounded like metal dragging underneath the vehicle. There's less than 5k on it, so I'm not real sure what would be up. I gave the undercarriage a quick look, but didn't see anything dangling. I mostly notice it when I brake or turn (no directional preference).
I didn't notice anything on my way into work this morning, but then again it was raining like a champ. I work in an industrial setting, so I guess it's possible that I picked up a little debris?
Prius (2004-09) :: Dragging Metal Sound With No Visible Cause
My 2007 Toyota Prius occasionally sounds like there is metal dragging somewhere in the front of the car. It usually only happens at low speeds after I have been driving on a highway. If I get out of the car to check. I can't see anything dragging under the car. The sound usually goes away if I continue to drive or (if I've reached my destination) if I let drive the car again later. What this noise might be? The car has 172,000 miles on it, and it has had the wheel bearings changed multiple times in the past few years...I don't know if that has anything to do with the noise.
