Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2007 F250 - Front Wheel Clunk When Turn Sharply In Either Direction

2007 F250 4WD 5.4l ... when I turn sharply in either direction I am getting a light clunk sound similar to when you are in 4WD on blacktop and try turning. The engine also seems to wanna stall when I cut the wheel too sharp.

Accent RB (2012+) :: Popping Noise When Turn The Wheel About Halfway In Either Direction

So, I now have just under 20,000 km on my Accent, and lately there have been some noises popping up. I'm wondering if they're normal or not.

1. At low speed or completely stopped, when I turn the wheel about halfway in either direction I hear a popping noise. It sounds like it's coming from the steering column, but I'm not completely sure. I just began noticing it a couple days ago. So far it only seems to happen after the engine has warmed up; doesn't happen right after a cold start.

2. After the engine has warmed up, I also hear a knocking noise coming from underneath the car. It happens only at low speeds or when stopped. It seems to be directly related to the engine RPM.

When it idles around ~700 it will knock once. If I keep it in neutral and press the gas, it'll knock again. Let it idle, knock. Apply gas, knock. It also happens when in gear. I think it's either the fuel or exhaust system. Maybe it's the sound of the in-tank fuel pump turning on and off? It sounds the same regardless of how much fuel is in the tank.

This has been going on for a couple months now, and there don't seem to be any ill effects related to it... yet.

3. This isn't a noise, but a smell. Since it's summer here now I've been using the A/C quite often. While it's running it's ok, but when I turn it off it smells like a wet basement for a while.

I'm thinking that maybe the evaporator isn't draining properly and mold is growing in there. If I turn the blower on high right after turning off the A/C sometimes little water droplets will come out. I should also mention that it's very humid here at this time of year.

Lexus LS 2007+ :: Rubbing Noise With Harsh Vibration When Turn The Wheel In Either Direction

I bought a 2010 lexus ls460l awd with about 80,00 miles on it and also bought a warranty for 3 year/ 36,000 miles. After having the car for a couple of days i noticed things that I didn't like as well as figured weren't normal, alot of it had to do with noises, the dealer told me they didn't cover noises, and i asked if those noises meant something was wrong then what?? It was mostly squeaks and rattles that I didn't expect to hear in a car of this caliber, going over uneven road there's a constant squeak coming from the front, if its a bump its an extremely hard thump in the rear, and the idle.....is BY FAR the loudest I've ever heard in any car that I've been in.

When I turned the wheel all the way in either direction and pressed the gas, it made a rubbing noise with a harsh vibration, brakes squeak horribly about 2 days out of the week for about an hour then it goes away. When i took it in they said everything was fine except a part on the rear struts and said they needed some special oil for the vibrating rubbing issue. Picked up the car and noticed the vibrating issue was resolved but during the drive home noticed everything else stayed the same.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Horrible Grinding Noise When Turn The Wheel Either Direction

I may, or may not have had to jump a curb at 40 mph to avoid rear ending another car. Truck is a 2003 F-150, single cab stx package, 4.2ltr. Long story short, no damage to my passenger side front tire or rim that I can see, but I do have a horrible grinding noise when I turn the wheel either direction. The truck still turns properly, power steering fluid is level. What should I start replacing first?! She's got about 90k miles on it, I'm sure a lot of the suspension parts are due, just need to know where to start!

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Noise Plus Shaking When Steering Wheel Is Turn All The Way In One Direction

I have 2010 f150 when I turn my steering wheel all the way in one direction and I press the gas from a dead stop like at a stop sign it makes sound like metal rubbing together slit vibration with shaking(like the back wheels having a hard time keeping up) from the back end. i took it to a shop they look at it. They took apart the transfer case and re-lubed what was in side told me it should go away in a couple of days. I live in winter climate when it's below freezing it works no problem without any sounds.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Wheel Bearing - Hard To Turn One Direction

Have a wheel bearing going south can it make the car hard to turn one direction. I dont really have any humming like a wheel bearing does. But i feel a little resistance every now and then when turning the steering right. I have sprayed the steering shaft joints and i can see that they are moving free like they should. And i have a less than 2 yr old steering rack. My truck has 103k miles on the original (to my knowledge) bearings. i didn't know if sometimes a wheel bearing could cause a hard to turn in one direction feel.

Pontiac - Torrent :: 2008 FWD - Clanking Noise When Turned Wheel Sharply Almost Like Gears Slipping

For a little while I have been noticing an odd noise from the front driver side tire. About a year ago on two different occasions I heard a sound when I turned the wheel somewhat sharply that sounded like a clacking noise almost like gears slipping. It only happened for a few seconds and stopped but has never done it other than those 2 times that I am aware of. This is my wifes everyday driver, so I don't always hear the noises.

Recently it started making a sound that to me sounded very similar to a wheel bearing going bad. I looked into it a little and drove it and decided to change it even though it didn't have all the "symptoms" of a wheel bearing (louder when turning away from that side, quieter when turning towards that side, play in the wheel). After replacing the hub assembly it didnt make the same noise, but made a different noise that was from the shield on the back side of the rotor rubbing against it. Took it for a drive thinking that I fixed it only to have it start doing it again. After listening closer it sounded like a metal rubbing against metal sound, sorta like a brake pad dragging on a grooved or rusty rotor. I inspected the rotor and all i saw as an issue was on the inner side of it there was a ring of rust on the inner and outer edges, and it was wearing the pad to have beveled edges. I replace the pads and rotor, and it still makes the sound.

I am down to two options that I can think of trying but do not want to really try either one because of the amount of money I have already put into it.

1) I have thought about replacing the brake caliper.
2) I have thought about replacing the CV Axle, BUT the boots are in excellent shape.

It doesn't make the noise all the time, and sometimes it is worse when turning to the right, and other times there is no change regardless of the direction you turn. When it does do it, it feels almost as if the car is dragging and pulls to the drivers side.

I am really at a loss here and don't want to keep narrowing it down because I have misdiagnosed the problem twice now, and was really confident in it being the wheel bearing.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Clicking Noise From Front Left Side When Sharply Turn The Wheels Or Hit The Brake

I have a problem with the steering. Sometimes a clicking noise is coming out from the front left side when I sharply turn the wheels or hit the brake. The car was in a local garage today and they couldn't find the problem. 2 mechanics checked the suspension, cv joint, axle, wheel bearing... also 1 of them driven the car and found nothing. Tomorrow I show them the clip below.

Vibration :: Slight Rumble-strip-like Vibration / Noise When Turn Sharply To Right

I am experiencing a slight rumble-strip-like vibration/noise when veering to the right. There is no noticeable vibration when driving straight or to the right - sounds like it's coming from the front. I thought it was my tires but had them rotated with same symptoms/ I first noticed this shortly after I had them rotated in July. So it's probably front suspension.

Camry 2012+ :: SE Clunking And Skidding When Turn Sharply

I found that my 2012 CAMRY SE has an issue when you turn sharply either performing a U turn or any sharp turn you will hear a clunking noise and feel a thumping in the steering wheel. The other day I had to make a U-turn and the front wheel of the car actually skidded a bit half way thru the turn and made the clunking/thumping noise.

I have also experienced this backing out of parking spaces when the wheel is turned hard. I can recreate the issue simply by doing tight circles in a parking lot. The front passenger in the car can also hear the thumping. I found another 2012 CAMRY SE owner at work and we recreated the same exact issue in the work parking lot. You actually feel the front tire skid a bit or get that sensation.

OK - the dealer called me today after having their mechanic test drive the car. They told me this is NORMAL and even the new 2014 Camry does the same thing. They said the new electronic steering makes this noise on sharp or extreme turns and it's not like the old intermediate steering shaft problems they had before.

Oldsmobile - Cutlass :: 1992 - Small Roar When Turn The Steering Wheel Slightly Left At All

I have a 1992 Olds Cutlass Ciera S. Just fixed it running with a tuneup, but now I noticed that when I turn the steering wheel slightly left at all, I get a sort of small roar and it may just be me but the car seems tense. It feels and sounds like a bad power steering pump, but it turns right fine, no noise or anything. I do not think it's a wheel bearing. Could this car have rack and pinion steering and that is going bad?

Ford - Ranger :: Brake Pedal Goes Soft And Braking Power Drops When Sharply Turn Left

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger 4x4 that developed an odd problem almost two years ago that no mechanic I've taken it to has been able to find and fix, and I and my more car-savvy friends haven't had any luck with either.

About maybe 50% of the time when I sharply turn left (only left, never right) the brake pedal goes "soft" and the vehicle's braking power drops dramatically (but not entirely). Because of the sharp angle required to make this happen, and the low speeds I have to be moving at to even handle that sharp of a turn with this vehicle, this has only ever happened when I pull into a parking spot, and the vehicle still manages to come to a complete stop safely before being in danger of hitting anything. It never ever happens at any other time, and brakes like a champ normally.

I've had numerous other issues with the brakes in this vehicle in the last two years, all of which I've fixed. This one eludes me and every mechanic I've taken it to, though. I've replaced both calipers, both rotors, the brake pads, bled all four brake lines, and had the ABS control unit and ABS motor replaced.

At the time the issue first appeared, I had two damaged calipers caused by shoddy brake pads disintegrating on me (almost new, barely worn, but covered in pockmarks, looked like a Michigan road) and clogging up the calipers. That caused the vehicle to lurch to a halt with screeching tires if I so much as barely tapped the brake pedal. Replacing the calipers and brake pads fixed that issue, but did not fix the soft pedal issue when turning left. I ended up with the same screeching sudden stop problem recently when the ABS module went bad, replacing it fixed that, the brake pads and calipers are still in good condition, and replacing the ABS did not fix the soft pedal issue.

Touareg :: When Accelerating Car Oversteer In The Direction Of Turn

I've been experiencing a weird problem lately when accelerating from a stop and heading around a gradual curve while accelerating. Basically what happens is, I will be well into the gradual turn when suddenly the car oversteers in the direction of the turn. it's a bit scary, almost like the car is starting to slide, but it's just a quick moment of oversteer and then it corrects itself.

I figure it's something to do with the 4 motion and although I wouldn't call it unsafe it's certainly a bit of a shock to the system.

Camry :: 2009 LE / Clicking Sound When Turning The Wheel In Either Direction Half Way Or More?

i have a 2009 Camry LE. I got it (used with 43.000 miles in February 2011) i've noticed a clicking sound when i am turning the wheel in either direction half way or more. The clicking speeds up as the car does and slows as the car slows. It's more noticeable at low speeds. I've read about the ABS clicking when the car is started but the noise is not present unless turning.

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Vibration In Steering Wheel - Whining When Turning In Either Direction

Crossing 90K soon and noticing some vibration in the steering wheel. Have also been trying (in vain) to locate a clicking suspension noise in the rear.

Decided to pop the Red Sled up on stands and tighten stuff up. Few loose nuts in the rear (sway bar end links and the trailing arm bolts) so retorqued those. However, noise has only decreased, not gone away.

In the front, things are even worse. Tie rods are due for replacement (boots broken and right one had water in it) as well as ball joints. But the worse part is that the steering rack is whining when turning in either direction.

Thinking of tackling the front end work aside from alignment. Doesn't look hard so I do not fear that. But the steering rack is another beast entirely.

Prius (2004-09) :: Steering Wheel Vibrating When In Straight Direction At 70mph

I bought 2006 Prius which clearly was involved in accident, though it was small collision in slow traffic but on my way home from seller it was clear this was something more serious when on motorway at 70mph steering wheel started vibrating when in straight direction, it disappeared on any little turn left or right. Ok, maybe just ball joint got loose.... but not, today I've lifted front and found little knocking sound in few positions when turning the wheels (L-R). Sound is coming from rack & pinion unit. Anyone removed, disassembled and successfully assembled it? My plan is to check with dealer what is the cost of replacement (quite expensive for gen I, expect it to be same for gen II) alternatively can get one from scrap yard but need to find the calibration procedure first. BTW did read codes as follow, it's clear after reset... so far.

Volkswagen - Jetta :: Steering Pulls In The Direction Of A Turn While Turning

I have a 2003 volkswagen jetta and the steering pulls in the direction of a turn while making a turn on both the right and left sides. In April of this year the rack and pinion was replaced and an alignment was done. However, the steering still pulled in the direction of a turn. In addition, the drivers side tire completely wore out within 6-8 weeks of having the steering fixed while the other tires remained intact. We were told we had a loose tie-rod on the drivers side - could this cause the quick wear on the tire and cause the pull in the steering? Also there has been a clinking (metal to metal) sound on the drivers side that occurs whenever we hit potholes or drive over uneven surfaces, could that also be the tie rod?

Camry :: 2007 - Power Steering Buzz When Wheel Hits The Lock In Either Direction

I just changed the power steering fluid for likely the first time on my 2007 Camry 2.4L with 76k. Put in Maxlife. I noticed when the engine is running that there is a slight... buzzing sound... when the wheel hits the lock in either direction. Everything else is fine and no leaks are present. Im not sure if it has always existed and I only noticed it now because I was listening for irregular sounds, or if it is something new.

Everything else seems fine and the sound only occurs at lock. And it is minimal, but there if you listen for it.
