Yukon :: Whining Sound From Front End On 2002 Denali
I recently purchased a 2002 Yukon Denali. I've noticed a whining sound from the front end when I'm at a steady speed. When I take my foot off the pedal, the sound stops. I had it in the dealership and they first thought it was the front drive shaft and replaced it. That didn't work at all, so they then told me it was due to the all wheel drive. What is causing this?

View 2 RepliesYukon :: 2004 Denali - Coolant Spewing Out
2004 Denali XL with 78,800 miles. I've had it since July '12, and when I changed the oil immediately after buying it (74,700 miles) it was low and filthy. All the fluids were checked/topped, and I had to rebuild the front drive diff and replace a cracked axle tube shortly thereafter.
Everything has been fine since, except for some coolant spewing out mysteriously every once in a while and slightly more than a qt of ATF just disappearing about a week or two ago.
It was shifting a little jerky so I checked the fluid and found it just barely on the stick. Quite a surprise since I check it every month or so, and I've never seen a drop on the ground.
Should I flush or do the standard filter and partial change? The fluid is pink and clean looking at this time.
Yukon :: 2005 Denali XL / Driver Side Low Beam Not Working?
I have a 2005 Yukon Denali XL. The low beam headlight on the driver's side will not work. I replaced the bulb. Still won't come on. We had just driven the truck up the Dalton highway (The rough road seen on Ice Road Truckers). The passenger side low beam works fine, and all the other lights work fine.
View 1 RepliesYukon :: 2002 XL Denali 1500 - Spare Tire Carrier Replacement
I have an '02 XL Denali 1500. The spare tire carrier was broken (cable had snapped) prior to me buying it. As best I can find, the part number for it is: 15026912. I'm curious if any of the newer designs (such as part# 25974845) would fit. 2 reasons I'm asking,
1) the newer ones supposedly keep the tire from falling on the road if the cable were to break, and
2) they're cheaper than the original part number.
Living where road salt snacks on vehicles for 6 or 7 months out of the year has yielded no luck in finding a functional one by checking with the local salvage yards.
Right now the spare sits in the back, which is fine most of the time, but it takes up a good amount of space when packing for trips.
Yukon :: 1999 Denali - Rear Brake And Turn Signal On Driver Side Not Working
As the says I have a 1999 Yukon Denali that the Rear Brake and Turn signal on Drivers side are not working. Also brake light on trailer DOES work but not the turn signal on that side.
I tested the Tail light circuit by plugging it into the passenger side and it works so that rules out that. What wires to test under the dash to test the combo / multi switch?
Also the tail lights or park light do work (both top and middle bulb lights up when the vehicle is running) its just brighter filament does not light up when breaks are pressed or turn signal is on.
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: 2004 2.4L - Whirring / Whining Upon Acceleration Whenever AC Running
For about 3 years, our SF (about 125,000 miles) has experienced the whirring/whining upon acceleration whenever the AC was running. I didn't do anything about this as the AC still worked well.
Just a few days ago, while running the AC for a "recharge" during our recent cooler weather, I realized that the AC was not cooling below outside ambient temperature, nor was the whirring present any more. I assume that the compressor finally seized. (?)
To keep repair costs low, and based upon the description above, where should I begin to look to see where the problem lies? Is it most likely a seized compressor/clutch? I am unsure if this is the issue, since even when driving with the AC turned to "Max", I now notice NO detrimental effects upon the engine/power output, which makes me wonder if the compressor actually seized. Wouldn't a seized compressor actually be very hard for the belt to turn, or possibly burn the belt?
I know the compressors and AC systems on these cars are notorious for dying too soon...
Prius (Gen 2) :: 2005 - Whining Noise Even At Lightest Acceleration
There is a whining noise related to vehicle speed and is most noticeable under the lightest acceleration at 40-50km/h, e.g., keeping a constant speed on the flat. It basically goes away on harder acceleration and is not there when decelerating. All other noise is as expected and not intrusive or unusual. Car is 2005 with 212k kms.
I changed the ATS fluid recently and didn't notice any metal "glitter" in the old fluid or much stuff on the magnet . It was just a mm of black sludgy stuff that didn't seem metallic. The fluid that came out was dark as I assume it hasn't been changed before no chunky globs or anything that would spell trouble..
What is causing this? The car is great other than this annoying noise which happens to be at speeds you normally do around town...
Camry :: 2006 2AZ-FE - Whining Noise At Lower RPM And Acceleration
So, my Camry just started making a noise today. I was able to find the exact noise it was making on YouTube, to use as a reference for you all. Basically, it's a low pitch whine that raises pitch during acceleration. Once at highway speed, it's completely gone (probably due to ambient noise).
No CEL or any other warnings. I just hit 75k on the car, and from previous experience, it sounds like it could be related to a bearing in the alternator.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2002 GLS - Whining Noise During Acceleration
I have a 2002 Jetta GLS that I got recently, it has 136,XXX miles on it and has a whine sounds like coming from the transmission or differential that starts around 2000-2500 rpm and gets a bit quieter at 3000. Transmission shifts smoothly, fresh oil change on trans and differential with no difference. It does not whine if the car is parked and you rev the engine, only does it while driving. Transmission is automatic

Noticed a whining noise upon acceleration, today. Noticed that it might be the power steering going. No sooner than I read this, and making a trip to my wife's graduation...Loss of power steering. What should I look for when I take it in, and tell them it's the power steering that is gone. Was reading about a potential correlation with having the rack and pinion replaced. That is something that was done about a year ago. Any real correlation? How bad is it to continue to drive without the power steering?

View 11 RepliesSuburban :: 2001 Denali - Engine Oil And Antifreeze Leakage
I got a 2001 Denali with the 6.0l. It seems to be leaking engine oil to the rear of the oil pan on both sides. It has residue where the oil cooler lines are at, by the drain plug, under the bell housing and around the starter. Also, I noticed there was some antifreeze on the right side axle towards the right front of the motor. I can't see any signs of the water pump or thermostat leaking. Where either of these could be leaking from?

I have an 02 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport with 130k miles. It makes a whining noise from the center to rear of the car that gets louder with Acceleration. View 2 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: 2007 - Whining Noise From Engine Compartment (Proportional To Acceleration)
I need to diagnose an issue I've had with my 2007 Prius with 79,000 miles on it. Several months ago I noticed a distinctive whining/humming noise coming somewhere from the engine compartment of the car while driving. The noise may be present at lower speeds, but the volume of the noise appears to increase proportionately with my acceleration and as such is most noticeable at highway speeds of 50 - 70 miles per hour. As I accelerate faster, the noise level seems to increase. If I take my foot off the gas and coast, decreasing speed, the whining noise gets lower in volume. I believe I first noticed this noise about 6 months ago, but wasn't more proactive about it like I normally would be because at first the noise didn't seem overly loud and my extended warranty unfortunately was up once I hit 77,000 miles. Now 6 months after I first noticed the noise, I believe it's definitely louder than it was when I first heard it, so much so that I can pick it out over the radio being on at a decent volume.
After checking some forums I thought the culprit might be a wheel bearing. I took it into a local Midas shop at they informed me that my passenger-side front wheel bearing was actually breaking apart in pieces. Obviously I had that wheel bearing replaced but I was also hoping this was the source of the whining noise. Unfortunately that wasn't the case as driving it home the noise was still present. They also said the tires were not balanced properly (from my Toyota Dealership no less when I had them install new tires) so I had the tires rebalanced as well. They did take the car for a test drive but probably stop looking for issues with the car as soon as they saw the wheel bearing in that condition. Also that shop does not specialize in Prius' or hybrids so they might not be able to notice the noise that shouldn't be there like I can.
Other than wheel bearings, where this noise could be coming from. Some posts on here possibly pointed to the ICE water pump or transaxle fluid (which as far as I know has never been replaced since I bought the car new).
Yukon :: Brand New 2014 - Hesitation Upon Acceleration
Just purchased a 2014 Yukon XL it is has a bit of hesitation upon acceleration. Did not think much about initially but it is a bit bothersome. I have an 02 Suburban and never had that issue. I did also notice the same issue when test driving a 2014 Suburban.
View 1 RepliesTouareg :: 2006 - At Start Up Clicking Noise - At Acceleration Whining - Radio Control Stopped Working?
I've had my 2006 V6 for a few months now and I've encountered a few annoying little problems that I would like more information on before I go to the dealer for my 5000 mile service...
1) Every time I start the car and pull out of the driveway there is a rather loud clicking noise. It sounds like the car is slipping into gear. There is no jolt or hesitation, and you can't feel anything, you just hear the noise. It happens when I go over about 10mph, just once, every time I start up.
2) At higher speeds when I start to accelerate say from 50 to 70 mph there is a high pitched whine. It is like the car is winding up before it takes off.
3) Sometimes there is a clicking noise coming from the dash board. Like an electronic clicking noise when you click on a link in a website. It clicks a dozen times and then stops.
4) One time the radio controls stopped working and the radio control panel started blinking on and off rapidly. After about three minutes everything returned to normal.
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Whining Noise After Extensive Driving
My girlfriend has a 2005 Sante Fe 2.7L v6 AWD. Lately I've been noticing it more and more but when the car is driven for a good amount of time we hear a noise. I'd say maybe an hour or so (I've never measured it though) the car makes a whining noise when trying to turn the wheel or even accelerating. I feel some resistance in the wheel when it happens too but majority of the noise comes from turning the wheel. Also when this happens the car seems to want to pull to the right, i can feel the wheel starting to pull. If I let the car rest and cool down for like 20 minutes or so it will go away but then slowly come back. From what Ive been reading I think I can narrow this down to a power steering fluid issue, either its low, leaking or the screen in the bottle is clogged. I don't see any leaks, nothing pouring out the bottom of the car either.
