Volvo :: Hissing Noise From Under The Hood When Go Faster
96 850 turbo auto. 150k .. My girlfriend just informed me there's something wrong with the car. I drove it, from idle to 1/2 throttle it drives fine cruises on up too a hunski pretty quick, but from half to full there's a hissing sound coming from somehere under the hood and while its hissing it feels like the turbo doesn't want you to go any faster. Also from a stop light if you give it full throttle it wont shift out of first unless you let off the gas.
Also when in park if you rev the engine to like 4-5k and let off, very very slowly does it drop back down to idle. The tracs off and abs lights are on! I'll hook my code reader up tonight to see if i can pull any codes.

So i popped the hood and it just got louder ?? sounds like its coming from the top of the motor and also on the left side by the belts ??? its a 2004 R32 and i just hit 80K miles?? This morning when I pulled into the garage after taking my daughter to school and shut the car off, I noticed a very loud hissing noise coming from the back end of my car, underneath somewhere. When I came back out an hour later to leave for work, it was still hissing. I drove to work and all was fine, but when I went out to the lot after work my car was completely dead.
I tried jumping it, but it wouldn't even take a charge. I had to find a ride home and will get it towed tomorrow. I'm sure the hissing noise is the cause, but what's going on. My car has never given me any problems--it's run perfectly for almost 150,000 miles (5 speed manual transmission). Maybe this is the end?
Neon :: 2000 - Hissing Noise / Clunk Coming After Every 4 Seconds
So I was sitting in my wife's car and hear a clunk while the car was in park sitting in the driveway. She said it had been doing that for a few weeks now. The clunk seems to happen every 4 or so seconds while idling and is coming from the engine compartment somewhere. There is also what seems to a hissing or sucking noise that sounds like it is coming from in the dash somewhere and also happens about every 4 seconds during idle. I really haven't had a chance to look into what the problem(s) may be or if they could be connected. I am really not sure what the clunking at idle could be. I think the hissing noise is a vacuum leak I could probably hunt down when I have a chance.

O2 PASSAT 1.8t had crankcase vent recall performed now there is a hissing noise coming from that area that reacts with engine speed. Also I notice that hose that plugs into the intake manifold, from the new gizmo they installed ,COLLAPSES when the engine starts?

I've been noticing "Hissing Noise" coming from the rear passenger side (rear right hand side) of my 2011 Prius for a few days now. It sounds like the hissing noise is coming from the vent that's located on that side. Not sure what that does, but the hissing noise is usually present when I'm driving at 10MPH or up and it's gone when I'm less than 10MPH or at a complete stop. I have about 32K miles on the car.

Usually after I run the car in manual/sport mode, I begin to hear a high-pitched 'hissing/whistling' noise coming from the engine. It sounds like a vacuum leak. It is audible while driving with the windows down.
I am having problems pin pointing the source, but it sounds like its coming from the center block. What is the right direction to the leak? It starts exactly at 1500 and cuts off at 2200 rpm (while in gear). 1500 to 3000 rpm while in park..
I have a Takeda intake installed and I re-tighten the fittings.
Accent LC (2000-05) :: 2004 - Constant Hissing Noise Coming From The Middle Of Engine Compartment
My 04 hyundai accent about 2-3 months ago acquired a hissing noise which seems to be coming from the middle of the engine compartment. The car only has 100,000 miles on it.
It is a constant hiss that only stops when the gas pedal is pushed initially. I have looked all over the car and can not see any fluids leaking at all. It is pretty loud and can be heard easily outside the car when the car is on.
I hooked up my obd2 reader and found these codes:
P0304-Cylinder 4 misfire (I notice it when the car sits at idle for about a minute)
2x P0121- Throttle Position circuit range/performance problem
2x- Evaporative emission incorrect purge flow.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2011 - Hissing Noise Coming From Engine Compartment Under Acceleration
Looking for some input on a recent "hissing" noise coming from eng compartment. It's only noticeable during initial acceleration, and sometimes at the beginning of gear changes. I am assuming its tubo and/or exhaust related, as I've noticed a strong exhaust odor in the cab as well. I wasn't under load when the problem started but i was under rapid acceleration. Not noticing any fluids or oils leaking. No warning lights have tripped, as of yet.

Last week during the extreme cold my 2006 Volvo xc90 dropped a nearly full tank of gas onto my driveway. I had driven each if the three sub-zero days and on the third day drove about a mile, parked for about an hour then came home to get my phone. I left the car running while I ran inside for about a minute and came out to a hissing sound and dripping gas. I moved the car away from my house and watched the fuel indicator go to empty. Once it was up on the flat bed tow truck the driver pointed out big splits in the tank. I am sure I didn't drive over anything or through deep snow. Could the cold have caused this? Did I mention the driveway is new?

I have owned a 2002 Volvo S60 2.4L for the past two years, and she has served me well. However, I have been having issues lately. She has hit 179,400-ish miles and with age things have started to fail. I want to know how much it will cost to fix these things and if I can do it myself.
There is a metallic popping noise coming from the right front side of the vehicle every time I make a turn (I haven't particularly noticed if it's a left- or right-hand turn when it happens.) I have been advised by my father that it's probably a CV (constant velocity) joint. Is that what's causing the noise?
My right front headlight has gone out, and I've replaced the bulb as well as the fuse, but it's still out. Could it be faulty wiring? The left front blinker has stopped blinking, I hope that's as simple as changing out the bulb.
The shift is automatic, but in the mornings (I've noticed it's mostly when it's cold outside) I attempt to move the shifter out of park and it won't budge for several minutes. Sometimes I have to turn the engine off, and then turn it back on for the shifter to move.
One last question- how often should I change and/or flush my transmission fluid and the filter, and can I do that myself or should I take it to the dealership? (Which I am reluctant to do.)

I noticed a hissing sound coming out from under the car. It's more audible closer to the rear of the car as if air is escaping through a hole. Tires are good and not loosing air. When the fans turn on the hissing sound goes away momentarily and comes back. What could this be?

Noticed hissing sound coming from the rear windows when the AC is on... It's very annoying so I always crank up the volume of the music. Funny thing is when you open one of the rear windows slightly and the sound is gone. My car is Stage 2+ (mods are in signature). I noticed today a hissing noise coming from the rear of the car when my music was turned off. The sound is very similar to turbo spool but I'm 100% positive it is coming from the rear of the car not the bay. The noise does not show up until I hit 3rd gear and from then up it only makes noise when I'm accelerating. Under any load the noise stays the same. I can accelerate slow or accelerate a little harder and the hissing noise remains constant. The only two things that I can think of are the flapper valve on the SPM exhaust and the rear diff. However, I don't see why the flapper valve on SPM's exhaust would be affected by a certain gear.

For the past week or so, I've been noticing a hissing sound coming from underneath the car near the front driver side area.
It almost sounds like air being let out of a tire. It only happens when the car is turned on, and the sound is there when the car is in park or in gear.
Not noticing any change when driving the car.

So I ended up removing my rear seats of my 2010 hatchback gs, but there is now a hissing sound coming from the rear where the seats were. The sound starts as soon as I start the car up until I shut the car off. I'm assuming that this noise has always been there just noticeable because of the seat removal. Is this just the fuel pump?

Ever since I bought my 2000 mk4 golf I've had this super loud hissing noise coming from the bottom of the car. Almost like someone is spraying compressed air when your foot is on the throttle. Sound gets louder the more you depress the pedal. Had a catalytic converter code so after a few months I bought a new cat, welded it on, and the sound fairly went away. Still present, now months later the sound is now a bit louder but It's gotten on my last nerve, I want to fix it but I can't seem to figure out what that noise is.
Almost sounds like my car is a classic beetle by the way it accelerate at times. The car is sort of sluggish than normal at times, no codes, no lights, sometimes peeling out in 1st gear the car hesitates like I have regular power, then I have this sudden burst of 1 second power then back to normal until I shift then I never feel it again until I'm back in 1st and WOT it. Car does smell like gas a little sometimes, not too prevalent but nonetheless noticeable especially going in reverse. My gas meter seemed to fluctuate at times, I may have a bad pump maybe, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
