Toyota - Corolla :: Losing Power When Put It In Gear / Load Is Applied
My 2000 corolla has about 180,000 miles and loses power when I put it in gear. But the engine revs just fine when it is in neutral or park. What could be wrong?
View 4 RepliesToyota - Corolla - Transmissions :: 2011 - Tachometer Will Start Jumping At Constant Speed
I have a 2011 Corolla LE with the automatic transmission. When traveling at a constant highway speed (i.e. 60 mph), the tachometer will start jumping around. It will jump up than down by anywhere from 200 rpm to 1000 rpm. It only lasts a few seconds then returns to normal. The dealer is saying that is just the electronic controlled transmission selecting the correct gear. I have never heard of this in any other car.

In my '06 Corolla I have a 1000w Kicker DX1000.1 amp to power my subs... When I am jammin' my lights dim and I know it is because my car cannot put out enough power. If I upgrade my measly stock alternator (80 amp) to a high output alternator (~200amp) will I have any problems? Will amps kill my cars electrical system or is it volts that wreck it?
View 17 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2006 F250 - Tachometer Not Working Properly
I have an 06 f250 6.0. When I bought it a few weeks ago I turn the key on and let the glow plugs warm up and start the truck it would start easily. Now it seems like it's taking longer to start . The temperature are between 50 and 80 degrees. I changed the fuel filters and it's still taking to long to start.
2nd I noticed today that when my truck is at idle the Tachometer is at 0 and when I'm driving 60-70 MPh it goes up to 900 or maybe 1200. It seems to be running fine no loss of power that I can tell. What could be causing the long crank time and my Tachometer problems.
the glow plugs and injectors are new I don't remember the brand and the fuel filters are brand new Motorcraft.
Toyota :: 1986 Pickup Losing Power On Hills
I have a 1986 Toyota pickup. It's small 2 wheel drive with a stick shift. 6 weeks ago, it started lugging very slightly on hills after I had first started the car (only in the first 5 minutes of driving). Then that stopped, and now it loses power on hills so that I have to keep shifting down and going slower until I'm chugging uphill in 2nd gear at 30 mph. It only happens on long hills with a sustained uphill; smaller ones it keeps speed and power fine.
View 2 RepliesToyota :: 1991 Pickup Losing Power - Not Running At Idle
I was driving yesterday and my Toyota pickup started losing power. If I let off the gas at a stop it would rapidly die. I managed to get it home but had to floor it just to get it going in 1st and 2nd gear, and if it was in neutral it would die without giving it a lot of gas. The only way it will start is if I give it a lot of gas while turning the ignition, and have to keep the RPM's up to keep it running. Looked under the hood while it was running and when I let off the throttle the entire motor would shake violently. Cant tell if it's just not getting fuel correctly or if it blew a head gasket maybe. Seems like it might only be firing on 2 or 3 cylinders.

I'm trying to get to the shifter light for a 12v power source. I know how to take the left panel off, but how do I get the cup holders out to drill a hole for some led's?
Also, without a multimeter, how would one know which lead is positive and which is ground?
Toyota - Camry :: 1996 Frequently Keeps Losing Power To The Spark Plugs
My old 1996 Camry with 2200 cc 4 cylinder engine, frequently keeps losing power to the spark plugs. I have changed the fuel filter and the ignition coil. That did not work. I also noticed that the car was starting when I unplug and replug the primary wire plug to the ignition coil. So I have replaced the primary power plug with a six inch pigtail and a used plug purchased from a salvage yard. This is not working either. The Toyota dealer near my house want to replace the igniter and the Engine Control Module just to be sure that these are not the sources of problem. The dealer did not test these parts. So I refused to replace the parts without a proper test. I would like to test these parts. Is there a test available for the igniter and ECM that could be performed. I have access to a lot of tools. I need a schematic and/or test to test these components.

I have a 2006 f250 6.0. the truck has 101k miles and to this point I have had zero issues. I am having trouble loosing power after running at highway speeds. Once I stop and begin to accelerate the truck looses power for a few seconds ,Belches smoke and begins to operate normally. I had an egr code, so I replaced egr and the problem persist. It is intermittent and does not happen if I stay under 50 mph.
View 12 RepliesToyota - Matrix :: Tachometer Usually Bouncing Between Zero And About 4k
I drive a 2007 Toyota Matrix, automatic, 111K. My check engine light is on, but I haven't had it check because it frequently comes on and off for the evap sensor in the gas cap.
a few months ago all of a sudden the tachometer would move around very erratically. it started the first weekend that it was really cold here, and has since come and gone. At the times when it's not working, when i start the car the tachometer will usually hang at zero for a while and then begin to flail around usually bouncing between zero and about 4k. Occasionally it will make it all the way to the highest range of the gauge, 8k, and jump around there for a while. Then without any trend that I've noticed all of a sudden it will function correctly. There are also times when it works fine the entire time from the time I start the engine.
Another disturbing piece is that about a month ago my temperature gauge joined in and will now remain at zero the entire time the tachometer is flailing about and then when simultaneously they will begin working normally.
Toyota - Rough - Gasoline - Camry - Fans - Clutches :: 1992 - Burning Gas / Losing Power / Excessive Smoke
I have a 1992 Toyota Camry. It had been burning gas, losing powere, white smoke smoking excessively through the tailpipe, and idling extremely rough, sometimes to the point of dying. It ran ok at highway speeds, but terrible everywhere else. We figured that it was getting moisture into the engine. We essentially did an upper engine overhaul, replacing gaskets and parts as necessary. It ran fine after this, and then three weeks later, started having the same symptoms. I found gas in the oil, changed oil, which turned it to run smoother, but still smoked and died at idle. I found out the clutch fan barely blows. I can't afford to get an actual mechanic involved, but I don't know where to look next.

View 12 RepliesElantra HD (2006-10) :: Car Starts Hesitating Losing Power
My car has been running great. It has 125,000 miles on it. A couple weeks ago I did a bunch of work. I changed the plugs, air filter, timing belt, ac belt, alt, belt, cooling flush, tranny flush and brakes. Everything was great until yesterday. I wanted to test the power so I was on the highway going up this long incline going relatively fast. As I get almost to the top of the hill, my car starts hesitating losing power and check engine light comes on. I make it off the exit and sputter to a commuter parking lot. I shut the car off, check under the car for leaks and check the fluids. Everything is ok. I start the car back up and its running fine again. I drive home then I drive to the parts store to have them check the codes. No codes found. He told me that the engine light needs to be on for them to find codes.
View 13 RepliesCorolla :: Cannot Get 2006 Toyota XRS To Start
I have 2006 Toyota Corolla XRS, and I can't get it to start. Last week I tried to start my car, it just turned over and wouldn't fire. I left it for a couple days, and didn't try anything. I thought the fuel line might of been frozen, because I do live in Canada. This afternoon it warmed up, so I decided to try it out. It started the first try, no problem. I drove straight to the gas station, and bought some methyl hydrate to put in the tank. I drove around a bunch that day to mix it in. After leaving it for a few hours I went and tried to start my car, and it's doing the exact same thing again. Not sure what to do here.

I have a 2006 Rubicon Wrangler 4.0 (automatic) with 15K miles, excellent cond. When I drive up to the mountains my Jeep loses power to the point I have the gas pedal pushed to the floor, whereas I can jump out of the jeep and run along side of it. When I step on the gas on the freeway going at high speed it dogs down. It runs fine driving around town. I never had this problem before. I don't think its a transmission problem because I have no engine light coming on. I just checked the Catalytic Converter and that's ok. I'm lost, I have no clue what it can be.

View 2 RepliesToyota :: 2006 Corolla Or 2008 Versa - Which Is Better
I have a 2006 Corolla w/ 136K miles and a 2008 Versa w/ 81K. I'm looking to replace one of them, but am unsure which I should keep. The Corolla has been very reliable but is starting to need a lot of work (brakes/struts/etc.) and the Versa has been ok but overall has needed more maintenance.
Whichever one I keep I will probably drive until it's dead but I really don't know which I should stick with. My instinct tells me it should be the Corolla, but I don't want to keep having to sink money into a high milage vehicle. On the flip-side, I have never heard people speaking well of the Versa, and keeping it might end up costing me more and lasting a shorter time.
Chrysler - Ptcruiser :: 2006 - Dashboard Lights Up For No Reason / Losing Power
My dash board lights up for no reason. All the lights -- seat belt, engine, oil, etc. Also the speedometer goes from 0 to 100, the RMP needle goes from 0 to whatever and my gas tank need goes from empty to full to back to empty. In addition it is now loosing power --no gas is getting where ever so I must pump gas peddle to get it going again. It usually lasts only seconds and there is NO rhyme or reason to when it does it. I left it with a dealership and they drove it 265 miles and it did nothing. I got it back and within 48 hours it started doing it again. They did put in a new instrument cluster and it still continues.
