Touareg :: Vehicle Pulling To Left And Right More Than Steering Wheel Is Turned
My Touareg started to have a weird sensation recently. As I turn to the Left the vehicle turns Left more then my steering wheel is turned, It seems to dive in that direction. It just started do do this going Right also. I thought I saw something on this topic before but was unable to find it.

i was driving the other day and the car just had a small sputter and shut off now when i turn it over it turns real fast like there is no compression if i press the gas pedal it sounds like it almost wants to start but wont and i can hear a small backfire through the air intake . I tried spraying starting fluid in the intake to see if maybe it were a fuel problem but it did no fire same result .

I have an 05 mk4 GLI. Driving to work today my car started to sputter a bit and the yellow caution triangle with the arrow circle around it turned on. It wouldn't let me accelerate and when it would change gears they would slam into place. Right after that my check engine light came on. is that triangle traction control?? Ive read many different threads but couldn't really find anything.

2005 VW Tuareg, 67,000 miles. Engine sputtering and bucking - but only under specific circumstance. If I drive the car over 40 mph for even a short distance and then turn the engine off, the car will start back up normally the next time I start it. But if I were to move the car, say, from the driveway to the street then turn the engine off, the next time I start it, the engine would sputter and buck at idle. It would also buck when I put it in gear and run roughly until I hit above 40 mph, then it would smooth out. Thus, the problem only presents itself if the engine is turned on and the car not allowed to run above 40 mph before it is turned off again. The engine light is on, and the dealership says it's cam adjusters not working right,i.e., meaning BIG $$ to fix. Does that sound plausible?

Having, apparently not uncommon problem of a misaligned steering wheel -- i.e., when the wheel is horizontal, the car drives left? Two dealers have told me that there is no alignment problem (and have given me the BS "crown of the road" explanation). Perhaps this is not an alignment issue, but there's no question that the wheel must be slightly turned to get the car to drive straight, which is at best a major annoyance.

Ever notice that the Homelink won't work unless the car is turned on? Not very useful for putting the garage door up and down as you don't want the car running BEFORE you put the door up. I had two other cars with Homelink and both worked at all times. If VW can make the radio work all the time they could certainly do the same with the Homelink controls.

My wife called today. After she shut off the car today (13F and 2" snow today), she "says" the car stayed on for 10-15 seconds before it went quiet. I'm assuming it was fan noise, since I don't see how the car can stay running if the key was removed. She didn't have the REST button set. What is "staying on". Haven't heard this before today.

The other day I was driving downhill, luckily at slow speed, when the engine tuned off on my 2004 V8 Touareg. The brakes and steering were obviously in manual (not powered) and pull off on the side and turned on the engine again with no problems thereon.

I noticed recently when I walk away from my car I hear a whirring noise as if a fan or belt were slowly winding down. It does stop eventually but I'm wondering if something was torqued or moved out of place to cause this noise, that I don't remember hearing before.

My 05 V8 has developed a slight whistle when the air conditioning is turned on and the fan speed is high. This only seems to happen when the system is taking in outside air. If it is recirculate mode, the whistle goes away. It also goes away if you manually turn the fan speed down. My assumption is that something may be caught in the intake.

When I turn on my a/c, it gives this short hissing sound for a second or two before it goes away. Then along the road i heard random hissing sounds (not often nor consistent, just happens every now and then) that lasts for a sec or two. Could this be a future problem or is it normal?

Since we have had vehicle, it has had fault whereby whenever we turn engine off, the key will not come out of lock and display says "engage Park" even though we already have.... Only solution is to turn ignition back on and then off again, and then key comes out. Dealer has had one go at it, but no success, due to go for another try next week.

A couple weeks ago i started to get the "ABS", "ESP off", and a picture of a truck heading downhill "hill descent"? warning lights when i turned the ignition on. The warning lights would all stay on and this was happening about 25% of the time that i started the car. Once on they stay on until i turn ignition off. The owners manual states the when the "ABS" failure light comes on it automatically turns ESP off. So I tested to see if ABS really not working and sure enough i was able to get wheels to lock up and i smoked the tires pretty good.
I took car to dealer and they found a hard fault code for the ABS failure but they could not find anything wrong so they ended up cleaning all connections - whatever that means. That was yesterday. Today the warning lights all came back on.

As soon as I turn heater on I smells coolant, I checked all over inside cabin there is no coolant liquid inside, I'm wondering if the heater itself is leaking or there is another problem.

This weekend my CEL went on and stayed there. Everything seemed otherwise fine until yesterday, when the engine started running rough (like it is missing) and the CEL will flash on and off periodically. When I got home, the exhaust smelled like gas. I have an appointment with the dealer one week from today, and am driving my "spare" car in the interim.

I experienced abnormal behaviour of the xenons (I think).I thought that when all lights were off (no DRL's or what so ever), and I flash the high beams (pull the left lever towards me and release) that I'd see the halogens only and no xenons, but apparently the xenons are flashing as well.
I know there's a mechanism in front of the xenon bulbs that covers the normal xenon beam partly for the normal lights, and gives you the full beam when high beams are on (the thing called "Bi-Xenon").
But I thought the xenons are not supposed to come on just for flashing if the normal lights are not already on, because the lighting of a xenon bulb is not fast enough.
Touareg :: 2004 - Sour Stinky Smell When AC Is Turned On
Like the title states my 04 egg has a sour smell when i first turn on the a/c. could this be mildew if so from where, are there fresh air filters in these? i already am not overly fond of this vehicle.
