Touareg :: Water Leak Around Compass Area Sunroof
Yep that's right a leak around the compass area. It first happened a month ago while driving in the rain. A few drops came out of the area between the headliner and the compass on the passenger side. The other day a couple of drops came out of the other side (driver). I took it to the dealer the next day and they couldn't find any water. Even after removing the whole top console and running it through the car wash. They couldn't even see where any water may have been.
Happens at speeds over 45mph. Raining outside for at least 2 hours. Sunroof had not been used for at long time due to Winter only a few drops have come out so far at one time. Has only happened twice in the 4 months we have owned the car.

View 2 RepliesTouareg :: Does Nav Unit Use Compass / Clock?
I am preparing to replace the compass/clock combo in the overhead display with a detachable ham radio head. I am now worried that the navigation unit might use some information provided by the compass. If removing the compass will disable any features on the navigation unit?
I don't know if the module in the overhead display contains the actual compass or if the compass provides any information to the navigation unit to supplement GPS information.
Touareg :: Compass Display Glitches - What To Do Now
I had my TReg in for the 5000 mile service this week. Among the laundry list of items on my punchlist for them I mentioned the compass and the fact it was going on and off and the blue light was sometimes changing from dim to brighter when the headlights are on.
The dealer indicated that VWoA has acknowledged some problems with the compass display and I'm getting a new one.

Last night I noticed that my overhead clock and compass were dark (turned out it was dead). I tried to access address 6E on my Vag, but it can't be found. This appears to be the ONLY thing not working. BTW, my onstar still works.

I have been having the drip problem from the area around the compass every time it rains hard and i accelerate. I told the dealer and they stated that the problem was the drainage tubes were clogged and charged me to clean them out. Since then i have had to have the drainage tubes cleaned 3 times and it solves my problem for a short period of time but then i have to do it again.. I have had several cars with sunroof as well as a cheapo explorer and not once did i ever even have to have the tubes cleaned.
View 2 RepliesTouareg :: How Does Compass / Clock Light Stay On
How to set the compass/clock light above to stay on? I tried looking at my owners manual, but it doesn't say anything about keeping it on only to reset the compass. I always have to press the button, but it only stays on for a few minutes. I want to keep it on permanently when I turn on the lights.
View 10 RepliesTouareg :: Compass Display Backlight Flickering?
I complained about this 8 months ago and they replaced the compass display module. Then my battery died about 6 months ago and they replaced the compass control module. Now it's flickering--worse than the first time where the backlight was turning on and off. It's just the backlight that appears to be flickering.
View 11 RepliesTouareg :: Running Gear Workshop With The Blinking Compass
This started with the blinking compass (didn't think much of it)... then i got the "Running Gear Workshop" fault (brought it in 3 days ago and they said they fixed it)... but today the "workshop" fault returned, the voltmeter went dead and blinker indicators in the dash went dead (even though the blinkers are functional).
Boston VW just told my wife the "battery is fine" and then admitted they have "really have no idea what's wrong with it. 2004's are a mystery because they were released before the 'bugs' were worked out"... but they would be happy to get us a rental car (and have us pay for it) and they will try and figure it out.... (probably turn it on and off a bunch of times till the problems go away).

Last night I happen to look up at my compass and next to the time I saw two symbols that I had not seen before. I haven't been able to reproduce them.

View 3 RepliesTouareg :: Compass Malfunctioning - After Parking And Locking Display Keeps Flashing
While driving I noticed that the compass is not working or its gone into some mode or something. It shows PM 0:15. Pressing any of the 3 buttons doesn't do anything except holding down the 2 small buttons at the same time brings the name/version of the compass software and releasing seems to reboot or refresh the display. But after that it comes back to PM 0:15. I should also say that after parking and locking the car the display keeps flashing the PM 0:15. 15 minutes later I checked same thing it is still flashing. Whats happening to my compass?

View 1 RepliesTouareg :: Compass Light Flickered From Dim To Bright And Back / Engine Cover
I noticed the second night driving our new Touareg that the compass light flickered from dim to bright and back. A few minutes after the display went completely off. Haven't noticed it since but I have seen a few posts that suggest they turn off after 30 sec. and can be adjusted with VagCom. I called VWoA and they had no info on it yet. The other issue was the engine cover that was on the demo Touareg with identical options other than the color, is not on our new vehicle. Our vehicle we bought was delivered the night of our demo ride, so it is a late build...small center rear head rest...etc. When I questioned the dealer they said the engine cover was discontinued recently and is not installed anymore. I wish it was there, looks clean. Other than that my second vehicle is an '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I love to drive the VW over the Jeep. They did an excellent job on it.

View 4 RepliesTouareg :: New TPM Module - No Option To Turn It Off?
I recently had a new TPM Module installed by the Dealer. Today before loading one of my 19" Summer Wheel/Tire with a TPM sensor into the back, I went into the menu to turn off the TPM system, and there is no option to turn it off.
So I loaded the wheel/tire into the back, and took my chances in getting an error message in the MFI. But to my surprise, I did not get any error messages.
What gives? Can I get the option back in the MFI with a Vag, or does the new module just not have the "off: option? And why didn't I get an error message with a fifth wheel/tire with a TPM sensor laded in the Treg?
