Tiguan :: 2009 SE 2.0T Stutter Or Stumble Periodically

My Tiguan runs really well for the most part. I do have a slight issue that happens above 2200 RPM or so that seems to be getting worse as time passes. With little effort on flat road, the car runs flawlessly. Up a slight incline or light grade on the freeway it gets an intermittent misfire or stumbles periodically (getting more frequent). It smooths out and has a ton of power with heavier acceleration.

It doesn't always happen (though more often than not lately), doesn't throw a code, ambient temp doesn't effect it, happens rain or shine and engine temp doesn't change it. The only code I get from time to time is P2181 (coolant performance), but I can't see that being the issue and it stays happy right around 190ish. Gas mileage is not effected, getting around 27-28 MPG average. Using 91 octane Shell gas. I did a Seafoam induction cleaning since it started happening and Seafoam in the tank with no change. Seems to happen in all gears. if I stay below 2200 RPM it never occurs. The car has about 68,000 miles on it.

Tiguan :: 2009 - APR Tune And Stutter On Acceleration

I have a 2009 Tig with the APR flash. I had the flash done in 2010 in Edmonton. I have enjoyed it for the last two years. BUT this summer while on vacation the car developed a slight stutter on acceleration. When i reset the computer to stock the stutter goes away. What is failing or how I can repeat it with the stock setting so that the dealer can fix it and I can turn the APR tune back on.

Tiguan :: 2009 - Stutter / Jerkiness On Cold Weather During Acceleration

Had my 09 Tiguan now for 3 months and I'm noticing that during cold weather in the mornings as I try to accelerate or keep a constant speed/rom there is a jerkiness/stutter to the vehicle. It doesn't seem smooth if I go I faster then it's not really felt.

This is felt right around 60km/hr.. Or slower.

Doing some research appears that this could be the fuel injectors - those were just done at the dealer under recall about 7montha ago or so by the PO. The Tiguan has 147k KM on it.

What could be a possible cause for this? I also see that seafoam could clean the carbon build up perhaps?

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Transmission Stutter / Hesitation At Cruise

My father has an 05/06 4cyl Sonata automatic that he keeps in good shape. They commuted a fair distance before they retired last year, so the car has around 70k miles on it. He'd mentioned to me a few months back that it had a bit of a transmission hesitation when cruising at a steady 75-85km/h. I'd forgotten about it until I drove the car the other day...

What happens is that after cruising for around ten minutes at steady speed, the transmission begins to 'stutter'. It's not any huge event, but it's almost as if the engine was misfiring, which is the feeling you get. A small stuttering as power drops for a few tenths of a second, then comes back, then drops again, repeatedly. What he tells me he does to get away from this is to decelerate to a lower speed and hold there(~70km/h or lower) or repeatedly accelerate and decelerate gently from 75km/h to 85km/h. Both of these worked. I also found a third solution, that if you move the gear selector from 'D' to the 'manual shift' mode (it usually goes to '4' in these circumstances) the problem disappears and the car drives fine. Regular upshifts and downshifts are fine in both automatic and manual modes, and the fluid level is normal.

What burns me is that he'd taken the car in for servicing before the end of his regular warranty period and was told, "Oh, that's normal. They ALL do that. It's just the computer trying to re-learn how you drive." I can't STAND how dealer techs try to take advantage of people like this. Yes, the ECUs self-learn and yes there can be dramatic issues when a new ECU or transmission or whatnot is installed until it happens, but this kind of thing doesn't happen 'out of the blue'! I told him to take it back and put the screws to 'em that they should fix it under warranty since that's when the problem was reported. Otherwise, push them for a really good deal on a new Sonata Turbo...

Tiguan :: Stutter And Buck On Light And Hard Acceleration

About two months ago, my EPC light came on and my check engine light started flashing while I was driving home from work. Never heard of/saw that EPC light before. The car started to stutter and buck really bad when trying to accelerate (on light and hard acceleration). Also, when sitting idle (like at a red light or stop sign) the car would still buck but not as bad as when driving. The only time the car doesn't buck is when I am cruising, like after I just get done pressing on the gas and the car is coasting basically. I call the mechanic the next day and he tells me right off the bat, it sounds like a Crankshaft Position Sensor and to drop it off so he can look at it. So I drop it off, he tells me he believes it is just a bad coil on cylinder 1, so he swapped it out and gave me an oil change (it was due for one). Picked my car up on a Wednesday, it seemed fine. Then on a Saturday same issues and same warning lights came back on. So I had it scanned at Autozone, misfire on cylinder 1 and 3, random cylinder misfire and multiple cylinder misfire, so I call him and tell him, he said just bring it back he'll swap it out. I changed the coils myself since it only takes 10 mins. The car seemed fine for about a month. Then two weeks ago, all of the same issues are back and same warning lights.

Had issues with the EPC light? Also, is any truth that the Crankshaft Position Sensor can be related to this or was the mechanic completely wrong? Read another post by someone else and there was talk of carbon buildup. My friend is mechanic and said that he thinks it might be a fuel related issue or electrical, since the issues keep coming back. Also, it misfires more when the heat is on and seems like the interior lights flicker a little when it's misfiring at idle, it's very subtle, definitely notice it so I don't know if it's electrical, fuel related, carbon build up or what.

-February of 2014, I had a fuel pump replaced by the dealer (it was for a recall)
-Back in January 2015, I had the ignition coils and spark plugs replaced by a friend (who is a mechanic).
-In July I had the lifters replaced (by the same mechanic I called)
-Been up to date with oil changes
-Use plus gas from Citgo

Going to drop it off at the dealership tomorrow.

Oldsmobile - 88 :: 1997 - Intermittent Hesitation Speed At Highway Speed

I have a 1997 Oldsmobile 88 (174K miles, owned only by my father-in-law and then me) with which I am experiencing a hesitation problem from time to time at highway speed. My mechanic has taken the car on several highway test drives throughout the last two days, and he has been unable to reproduce the problem. Furthermore, he has done a full diagnostic test and found no problems with the fuel system, ignition system, or anything else.

Here are the conditions under which the problem occurs:

---Attempting to accelerate gradually at highway speed (usually from 50-60 mph), but WITHOUT pushing the gas pedal down so far as to cause the transmission to downshift
---Engine fully warmed up (temp gauge at 200 F or just below)
---Occurs more often when I have been driving for at least 1-2 hours

The condition is as follows:

---Car lurches/surges noticeably and does not accelerate
---Speedometer needle reflects the lurching by fluctuating up and down about 1 to 2 mph
---Accelerates well if I step down hard enough to cause the transmission to downshift, or stops surging if I lift off the gas pedal
---NO Check Engine light at any time

Some history on the car and corrective actions taken:

---June 2009: My mother-in-law was driving the car about 6 hours into our trip and it consistently hesitated between 50 and 55 mph with the Check Engine light on for the last 30 miles or so of our trip. The next day, we took the car to the dealer where my in-laws had their cars serviced (note the past tense here), where they told us that "there's probably something wrong inside the transmission" and suggested that we replace the transmission with a new one. This transmission is the second new one the car has had (replaced the first time at 95K miles), meaning that this transmission had less than 80K miles at the time. We took the car to a local shop at the referral of a friend, and this mechanic suggested we try flushing the transmission fluid and replacing the filter to see if that would fix the problem before we started talking about replacing the whole transmission. This worked, and we were glad that we did not have to get rid of the car. Did not notice any more problems with this for over a year.
---May 2010: Experienced engine misfire, had spark plug wires replaced. Problem solved.
---March 2011: First noticed my current problem. Had fuel filter replaced (it was probably a little overdue) and had the mechanics do a fuel system cleaning.
---April 2011: Problem still occurs.
---Had throttle body thoroughly cleaned, which fixed a slight sticking in the gas pedal.
---Replaced spark plugs myself. Car running more smoothly overall, but the hesitation still occurs.
---Inspected all three ignition coil packs myself. Top coil pack had some rust on the poles, which caused the resistance to measure as zero. Cleaned most of the rust off the poles, after which all three packs bench tested at 6.23 (with 20000 ohm setting on multimeter). Car runs even more smoothly overall, but hesitation persists.

At this point, my mechanic and I are both stumped as to what could be causing the hesitation problem. My only thought right now is to try replacing the one coil pack that had rust on it, since a pack with a fault I can see may have others inside that I can't see, and maybe something like this is flaking out on an intermittent basis.

Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Slight Stutter At Highway Speed When Going Uphill

I just picked up a Sport. I've noticed 1,2 quick stutter type thing happening intermittently at highway speed going up a hill. Dealer service probably won't be able to have it happen as it only has happened 3 times in my 400 miles.

Prius (2004-09) :: Slight Vibration / Stutter Feeling At Low Speed

98k miles and if the car is on a slight incline and your backing up or creeping forward it feels like you are going over a rumble strip. that slight stuttering feeling. no codes have tripped. I've asked the toyota dealership and they don't know what could be the problem. The trans axle fluid was changed at 88k and from what i was told there were no metal shavings in the fluid. it was a little dark but after going 88k miles i assume it would be.

Tiguan :: Hesitation Or Slight Jerking On Acceleration

I have a 2009 Tiguan 2.0T Gas 2WD Tiptronic Auto.

I noticed a while back on a cold morning that at first start the idle would seem off a bit.

I only would notice it for about a couple of minutes and then it would smooth out as I began to drive.

Lately that still happens some but mainly I have some hesitation or slight jerking as I accelerate now.

Mainly it will do it while starting to take off slowly/ when pulling a hill/ and when having to maintain a low speed behind many other cars.

I can counter act it a bit by stepping harder on the gas pedal(when there's room) and getting the RPM to go and stay over 2000 like on the highway.

If it is under 2000 RPM you can notice it pretty well.

I am concerned as I have not had this problem before and it is very well maintained and cared for.

Though it is likely due for a tune up...

What could be the most likely cause? I don't really want to take it to the dealer first as they would want a fee beforehand just to check it out.

It had a check engine light on for just a minute one day but it did not stay on.

If it stayed on then I could get the parts store to check it using the OBDII scanner.

Golf/GTI VI :: Engine Hesitation And Lurching At Low Speed

Some of you with TDI's equipped with DSG's may or may not have these issues - but now there appears to be a fix. I've had a problem with a long delay in the DSG engaging from a stop. Also, I've had some engine hesitation and lurching issues.

Here is information from my paperwork after having those issues repaired. There was an ECM Software update to fix engine hesitation and lurching at low speed. That problem seems to be fixed.

UPDATE NUMBER: 23602599

Huge delay in the engagement of the DSG from a stop. There was a TSB for this specific issue dated on June 16, 2011. After my initial drive from the dealership to work --- this problem also appears to be fixed.

Lexus GX 2010+ :: GX460 - Low Speed Transmission Surge Or Hesitation

Experiencing a low speed transmission surge or hesitation when applying first applying the gas at parking lot speeds.? I especially notice it when traveling downhill or a slight decline. The motor revs as if in neutral then the transmission catches on. I mentioned it to the dealer at the 1000 mile check up and they said they could not find anything wrong. I'm getting ready to take it in for the 5000 mile service.

Lexus GS 2006-11 :: 2008 GS350 AWD Jerking And Hesitation At Low Speed

I just got a used GS350. At about 20-25mph, it can sometime hesitate/jerk when I am driving without much acceleration. If I press the accelerator hard, the car accelerates without much problem.

I tried searching through the forum but couldn't find same problem except maybe the LS460 [URL] ....

I have tried cleaning the MAF with CRC cleaner + resetting the ECU by unplugging the battery for 10minutes but I still have the problem. Strangely, I didn't have to recalibrate the windows after plugging out the battery, but the GPS did the long initial boot-up..

Ford - Focus :: 2003 - Stumble And Hesitation At Steady Speed

I have a really weird issue with my 2003 Ford Focus. Manual transmission, just over 50,000 miles. I've been noticing a stumble or hesitation (like the engine is cutting out) at steady speed, but ONLY when it is snowy out, more if it's windy as well. I don't recall that this happens if it's rainy or foggy. All maintenance is performed as specified, to include air filter changes.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Hesitation While Driving At Consistent Speed In One Gear

Recently I switched from Revo software with 440cc injectors to Unitronic with Siemens 630cc injectors. After swapping, the car has developed a hesitation issue. It only happens when driving a consistent speed in one gear, for example going 45 in 5th, the car will feel jumpy and hesitate to accelerate with a seeming loss of power. Replaced spark plugs with new ones and the problem still persists. Problem never happened with old software and injectors.

Tiguan :: Speedometer Reads Less Than Actual Speed

I timed my Tiguan for ten miles with the cruise control at 60mph on the way home tonight. This is the first car I've had where the speedometer reads less than actual speed. Average speed was 62.36mph. It varied between 60 and 65 on a mile by mile basis, but I can't put my finger on what caused the variation. The speed limit is 65 on that stretch, and there are a couple hills, but I was lucky and avoided slowpokes that would have taken me out of cruise.

I have a 2000 Tahoe with the 5.3L V-8, 351,000 (yes that is correct) miles. Runs great except it has recently developed a stutter, hesitation, skip, I don't really know how to describe it, under acceleration or at steady speed. This is an intermittent problem and it is driving me batty. The only codes are a P0420, maybe after 350k miles it needs replaced? Would that possibly cause this issue, or am I looking at something more sinister?
