Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Overheating And AC Stops Working When Driving Into Some Traffic
About a year ago I was driving along and ran into some traffic. A few minutes later I noticed the AC stopped working, (it was about 85F out), and then I noticed that the engine temp was getting much warmer. Had never seen this before. The car had about 70k miles on it.
Turned on the heater and was able to get the engine temp down. Immediately took it to my local mechanic, who checked that the compressor was running, but was unwilling to tackle this diagnosis and recommended I take it to the dealer.
Took it to the dealer the next day and they diagnosed a bad compressor which they replaced for $1200. However the very next day after I picked it up the very same thing happened. Engine overheating and the AC turns off.
Pretty disappointed in this - I expected the dealer to be able to fix this, especially for $1200. So I left it with them for a week, and still they were not able to diagnose or duplicate the problem. Asked me to come in when it is happening, but since they are about 30 minutes away and it only happens once in a while I gave up on that.
However, ever since then it will occasionally have the same issue. I can usually resolve it by parking for a while, or by turning on the heater for a while. The AC does work most of the time, but of course this problem usually occurs only on very hot days.
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: 2012 GLS - Cruise Control Stops Working Randomly
Bought a 2012 Sonata GLS back on July 3rd. I've had 3 instances where I'll be running on cruise control, I'll disengage it and then when I go to resume it doesn't do anything. I can turn Cruise on and off but it will not Set nor Resume. I have to stop and turn the car off and then back on for it to work again. I have a service appointment this Saturday for an alignment issue so I'm going to have them check this out too.

I have a 2011 Sonata GLS key ignition (no start button). When I turn the key (foot on brake), the engine tries to turn but very weakly and then stops. I do it again and again with same results. Sometimes I get a better response on the key turn but still wont start. After about 10 to 15 tries it will finally turn over and start. I purchased a new battery today but unfortunately that was not the problem as the car is still having problems.

After pumping for a few seconds the pump stops because it thinks the tank is full. I have been searching for other 2011 Sonata owners with this problem but can't find any. I see it on older cars, something about charcoal pellets, but not on new cars. Could this be charcoal pellets on this car? The car is still new, why would this happen?
View 26 RepliesSonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Engine Starts To Fire Then Stops
It is not the brake switch. I can shift the transmission. Put key in ignition and turn to start. Engine starts to fire then stops and can hear starter turning while still holding key in start position. The car did start after many time and got home.
Tried to start again and no go. Warranty is done. I have read something on-line about cam position sensor? Last couple months had strange idle at stop light that went away and this can be also a symptom of the cam sensor.
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Starter Begin To Crank Then It Stops And Dash Flickers On And Off
Went to the mall the other day for a few hours, when I cam back out and when I went it start my car it would not start. Symptoms are weird, I can hear the starter begin to crank then it stops and the dash flickers on and off, interior and exterior lights flicker on and off, starter cranks on and off also. This keeps going until I push the start button again twice to turn the car off.
This keeps happening every time I try to start it. When I popped the hood I noticed the positive battery cover was open.. I closed it and when someone tried to start it for me the cover flew open. It was like 2 seconds after the starter cranked a master circuit breaker would trip, then reset over and over again.
Stranded on a Saturday, I had to join CAA online and request a tow to the dealership. The tow truck guy said I was the 4th push to start hyundai with exactly the same issues he had a call for that day. He went in the car vanished under the dash and got the car started. He would n't tell me what trick he did, but he said drive it to the dealer and leave it there as it was a one shot trick.
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: 2013 Stops In The Middle Of Road - Fuel Gauge Sensor Error
I was driving to work but Sonata stop in the middle of the road acting like ran out of Gasoline. But the fuel gauge showed 1/4. I was tried to crank few more times but didn't start. Called road side assistant, tow truck took it to nearest Hyundai dealer. After they inspect, your fuel gauge sensor is wrong, fuel tank is empty.
My 2013 sonata is showing 61500 miles on it. They asked me $450 to replacing the sensor because bumper to bumper warranty covers up to 60,000 miles.
I decide to fix it later, put little bit of gas and than fueled up all the way to the top at nearest gasoline station. Fuel gauge works again, it is now showing full tank. I do not know how long it will last but it is scary.
Toyota - Highlander-hybrid :: A/C Stops Cooling When Outside Temperature Reading Exceeds 107 Degrees
I read in a different vehicle forum that, in vehicles where the A/C condenser is mounted in front of the engine coolant radiator, when the engine coolant temperature reaches some near-overheat limit, the onboard system disengages the A/C compressor clutch so its condenser does not preheat airflow going to the radiator in an attempt to avoid overheating.
Is this the case with the Toyota Highlander (and specifically in a 2008 Hybrid Limited)???
I've recently been experiencing loss of A/C cooling when the center console outside temperature exceeds about 107 and the dashboard coolant temperature gauge is almost midway up towards H, but still closer to C. But once the outside temp reading drops back below 107, and I restart the vehicle, the A/C is once again cool.
Since coolant temperature is likely is impacted by higher outside temperatures, might the coolant temperature sender be failing or simply aged such that it is out of calibration, falsely indicating too high a reading?
How difficult is it to replace the coolant temperature sensor? Where is it located (in case it's just a corroded connection!)?
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Removing Rear Deck Subwoofer Placeholder?
I drive a Sport and have installed a subwoofer and amplifier to work with the stock head unit and speakers. However, I find the subwoofer sounds a bit muffled and I think I need to create a bit of an air flow between the trunk and the cockpit.
I did notice the rear deck has a big hole where the 8 inch subwoofer sits in higher trims. The hole is however, covered with a plastic dummy or cap or placeholder or whatever it is Hyundai calls it. If I can remove that, I can make some air flow and believe the subwoofer might sound better. How to remove it?
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2015 - Subwoofer Not Working?
Why my subwoofer won't work? Dealer is stumped. Dealer changed out the speaker and amp. They have been waiting on the Ford Hot line for over a week to get a direction and nothing yet. The speaker does move ever so slightly on highest level.

One thing I noticed with my truck was that the sound was really poor (truck is fitted with "premium sound") - I followed the common thread and replaced all 4 speakers with the Infinity 6829CF's, when doing it, it definitely improved the mid and high range clarity, but in the lower end there was nothing.
I then discovered no movement in the sub... I am a little electrically challenged, and wondered if you have some pointers (i.e. does it have its own fuse/relay to check)
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: AC / Heating Mode Not Working
This morning I turned on the heat in my 2014 Sonata 2.0T and there was a clicking sound coming from behind the dash. Heat is now only blowing out for the window defrost mode and when I will not blow out of the other vents.
View 3 RepliesSonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: AC Stopped Working At 40k Miles
Driving home today and all of a sudden, hot air... I stopped and turned the car off then back on, hoping to reset something. Still nothing.
It almost sounds as if I can't even hear the compressor kick on when I turn on the AC button.
Looks like I'm heading to the dealership tomorrow to see if this is still under warranty. Really upset being that this car is only two years old.
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: 2013 Radio Not Working
Shortly after buying a used 2013 Sonata the radio started working intermittently then quit working at all.It's the base model radio with no navigation and no reset button. I have tried disconnecting the battery, re-seating fuses and even pulling the harnesses off of the radio and it is still not working. Before replacing the radio I want to see if i can use a battery to power it up on the bench to see if the radio is bad or if the problem is somewhere else in the car.
View 1 RepliesGmc - Airconditioning - Acadia :: 2011 - A/C Is Disabled Below 40 Degrees
I just purchased a 2011 GMC Acadia about 2 months ago. Tonight it was raining and 37 degrees. All the windows were fogged up when I started the car. I put the climate system on defrost but as the manual states the A/C did not go on because it was below 40 degrees. It took over 5 minutes to defrost the windshield. The rest of the windows were still fogged up. As I drove off the car had a very difficult time keeping the windows clear on such a wet and humid night. Early that night it was 40 degree. When I turned the defrost on then the A/C went on and all the windows in the car were clear in 10 seconds. None of the foreign cars I have owed shut the A/C off like this. I also don't recall any of my dad's old GM cars doing this as well. Do all GM cars do this now and why?

Also if this is not covered by warranty how much do you think the dealer will charge to have this fixed?

I have a 13 Sonata GLS completely stock and today I noticed that the whole right side parking lights and tag lights are not working. I changed out the bulbs and no luck. I also tried looking for a fuse that controls them and no luck. I also disconnected the battery to try and reset and nothing.
View 1 RepliesSonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Right Side Exterior Lights Not Working
I have an ongoing intermittent problem with my exterior lighting. Occasionally, the front right amber light and the entire right rear light assembly, along with the license plate light do not work. Sometimes, if I turn the car off and on or repeatedly turn the lights off and on, all the lights will come back on. I have had the car back to the dealer several times, and they even changed the light switch on the steering column, but the problem still comes back very intermittently. I have blue LED's light bulbs for the license plate and wonder if this could be the problem. There are no codes being thrown according to the dealer. I searched this forum but didn't see any results.
