Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Oil Leakage Between Transmission And Engine
I have a Sonata 2011 YF , with 2.4 GDI and 58,000 miles. There is an engine's oil leakage dripping on the ground exactly from the area between the engine and the transmission gear box where probably the o-ring ( i assume) is placed. The car is no longer covered by warranty.
The workshop guy says that the O-ring (i am not sure what exactly is called in English) needs to be changed and that process will have to drop down the whole gearbox (which is expensive and rather unsafe to) , so i am thinking about any other solutions that might be a great deal (using engine oil with more thick viscosity 10W50, 10W60 since i am living in an extremely hot conditions)?
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Leakage From Oil Filter Area?
After last oil change the car started leaking oil from the oil filter area. I went to the dealer a few times and finally they replaced the oil filter (that's what they told me) and it stopped. Fast forward to today....
I changed the oil again and remembering the last time I wiped the oil filter dry and made sure it's not leaking. Today I drove to work and when I got here my oil filter was wet and oily.. so I took a few pics with my phone. Need to identify where this leak is coming from?
Camry :: 2011 - Glove Box Damper Seems Like Falling Off
We have a Toyota Camry 2011 Saturday I changed the engine air filter and the cabin air filter. I had no problem with the engine air filter however I'm having problems with the glove boxes damper. It seems that it will not stay in place I've connected it back to the bolt and pulled the lever out and attached it to the glove box.

My car's rear end is quite unstable on bumps. If the left wheel goes over the bump the rear end sways left and if the left wheel goes over bump, rear end sways left. So far I've replaced left wheel bearing as it had a little play, both trailing arm bushings it had just a minor cut but had it replaced anyway.
Got the car aligned and it was found within spec. I only have doubt on knuckle bushing through which trailing arm is bolted. The catch is i would have to order whole knuckle to replace that bush.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: 2009 - Rattle In Rear End
Ever since I purchased my 2009 Sonata Limited, it has had a rattle in the rear end some place. Hyundai replaced brake pads, calipers, shocks, etc and checked sway bar but rattle still there. It is especially noticeable in below freezing temperatures.
View 26 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Rear Seat Won't Fold Down
I have a 2006 Sonata, and surprisingly I don't think I have ever needed to fold down the rear seats. However, the other day I was bringing home a rug from Home Depot and discovered that I cannot get the right rear seat to fold down. The latch at the top of the seatback simply does not budge when I try to pull up on it to fold down the seat. I checked the locking mechanism, and it is not locked, so I don't know what the problem is.
I even flipped it back and forth several times between locked and unlocked, just in case something was stuck in that mechanism, but that didn't work. I also disconnected the middle seat belt, thinking that perhaps the seat is not designed to be folded down when the middle seat belt is in place, but that didn't work either. The latch on the left rear seat works just fine. Unfortunately it is the smaller of the two, and so is generally less useful.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Left Rear Brakes Getting Very Hot
My 2006 Sonata has an on again/off again problem with the left rear brakes getting very hot... Took it to my mechanic and of course the problem never manifested itself there and all checked out fine... Got to work last night and I could smell it as soon as I stepped out of the car and and the drum is glowing cherry red...
View 2 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: 2009 - Rubbing Sound From Right Rear
My 2009 Sonata has developed a 'rubbing' sound that seems to be coming from the right rear wheel. The brakes are new, the rotors are fine, there are no marks on the tire or wheel. This sound only shows up when I apply the brakes and generally at slowing speeds. If I press the brake pedal down hard the sound doesn't emit. We have checked suspension, brakes, rotors, tire and wheel.
View 2 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Rear And / Or Parking Brake Clunk?
I bought a 2006 Sonata V6 3.3L with 137k on it about a month ago. Engine and Trans is great, but I noticed an issue that developed within the past week and a half or so.
I am one to always engage the parking brake when parked, to relieve pressure on the parking paw in the transmission. After about a week of heavy use of the parking brake, I began to hear a slight 'clunk, clunk, clunk' coming from the rear passenger wheel (it actually sounded like something was loose in the trunk, but ruled it out). The 'clunk' sound at first only happened going over rough or bumpy roads, but within the past week or so it's gotten louder and more consistent. It now 'clunks' regardless of speed or road surface.
I used the parking break today for the first time while the car was in motion, and when pulled it sqreached very loud, didn't really stop the car, but the 'clunk' became very loud while the break was pulled - shockingly loud, actually.
A couple of days ago I took the rear passenger tire off while jacked up, and spun the wheel. With neither the parking or regular breaks engaged, the wheel made a 'clunk' sound very similar to that it makes on the road. Took of the Tire/Rim and spun the Rotor, to hear the same sound. Attempted to wiggle the Rotor and found no play at all.
At first, the clunk went away when you pressed the floor board brake pedal, even just a slight bit stopped the noise. Now it doesn't seem to stop it any longer.
My main idea is that the parking brake in the Rotor is the culprit, given that the issues didn't arise until I started using the parking brake - and the fact that brake appears to not work very well. However, my dad tells me he thinks it's a wheel bearing. I don't think it is - as its not making any metal on metal sounds, nor is it very difficult to rotate the Rotor while jacked up.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Hiss In Radio When Rear Defroster Is On
At some point in time I noticed that when I turn on the rear defroster a hiss develops in my (factory-installed) radio, operating on the FM band. Most of the time this hiss is strong enough to mask the audio entirely. I noticed, too, that one or possibly two "printed wires" in the rear window may no longer be operating; however, I don't know whether this is connected to the hiss problem.

View 4 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Rear Thunk / Knocking When Braking
Alright so my 06 is at about 102,xxx right now and has given me no major issues (knock on wood) besides this stupid noise that I cant pin point to fix. So far I've narrowed it down to this, sounds like its coming from the right rear and usually only happens when I am slowing down and or braking. Ive also taken note that it only happens when its really hot outside , all signs have been pointing to the rotors and brakes but i need some thoughts/opinions on what else it could be before i shell out almost $200 to get my brakes fixed. Here are some more details about the car
Rear pads replaced sometime last year they still have meat on them but i did not replace rotors nor did i get them turned.
I am sure that the noise is coming from the rear, ive been half way in the trunk while my buddy drove and i hear it coming from right rear.
Shocks have been replaced (noise was occurring before replacing them)
Nothing seems loose everything seems to be tightened down right.
Tires are brand new (noise was there before getting tires and after)
Mufflers are secured normal wiggle mounts look good.
Emergency Shoes have never been replaced but look ok.
Wheel hub looked great when i took it apart (Looks new doubt its that)
It happens when I am braking from 35mph below or sometimes 0 to 35 40mph rolling no braking then it goes away.

I found out the rear driver's side shock was leaking oil after I jacked up the car to take a look at exhaust options for the car. 3 of the 4 shock are clean and show no signs of oil.
Is this a defective shock or a pothole destroyed it?
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Knocking / Thumping In Rear When Accelerating Or Braking
When accelerating and/or braking, a thumping or knocking noise comes from the rear of the car. I do not believe it's my shocks, as there is no noise when going over bumps, only accelerating and stopping. What may be the cause? Control arms maybe?
View 7 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Overheating Rear Brake - Smoke Coming Out
Ok today I just drove from my house to my parents to get an electrical panel and it drove fine. It is about 17 miles of 55mph country winding highway. I arrive there and I smell the all too familiar hot brakes smell. I get out and see a little smoke coming from the right rear brakes. I know it must be either a locking up caliper or a bad caliper bracket as these are the Akebono brakes. What are your recommendations for replacement parts?
I plan to replace the drivers side rotor as more than likely it is now warped. I plan to change pads on both sides and the drivers side rear caliper. Is there a special procedure for a vehicle with anti-lock brakes to properly bleed them? I have a caliper spreader will I screw up the accumulator for the ABS if I just spread the old caliper for removal?
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Rear Window Defrost Slow Working
Just curious, in comparison to other vehicles, does it seem that the rear window defrost works pretty slow in your Sonata? I park outside and notice it is slower than I would like for it to be in the morning. Heated mirrors work great.
