Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Squeak In Driver Seat When Lean Forward
Annoying and embarrassing squeak in driver's seatback when I lean forward and then sit back. Car has only 46000 km. on it, and is only 2 1/2 years old. Will point out to the dealer at next visit.

I noticed from time to time when i accelerate ventilation fans tend to drop speed. Not sure if the a/c shuts off for a brief moment as you can feel warmer air exit the vents. Nothing of concern to me as the a/c works fine, just wondering if it does this for a reason. Knowing the ac is a huge power consumption to the vehicle, I am wondering if it does this for the engine to put more power where needed.
On another note. I did a test on the HWY this past Saturday omw to a wedding coverage. 2hr drive there i used the a/c with seat vents on and got about 22/23mpg. On the way back i did the opposite and got 29.2mph, not too shabby... 2016 - 2.0T .....
Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Metallic Grinding / Friction When Gas Pedal Pressed
I bought my SF 2013 Limited just less than 3 weeks ago. The car was fine but now all of sudden started to emit metallic grinding/friction noise when I press the gas pedal.
Dealer tech thought that it is bad drive shaft, but after changing it, it didn't solve the problem. Thought that rotor splash guards and maybe pads were to tight, that still didn't solve it.
To put this in perspective:
The sound comes only when I press the gas pedal and increases with the speed. It sound like cymbals and with speed it sound like a cricket. Noise comes from the bottom of the car and you can only hear it if your windows are down and car is passing sound reflection objects on the side, like other cars, concrete dividers, or parked vehicles.
Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Rubbing / Faint Grinding Sound Emanating From Right Front Corner
A few days ago I purchased a brand-new 2015 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T LTD, with about 80 miles on the odometer. During the test-drive, I noticed a rubbing/faint grinding sound which emanated from the right front corner, and only lasted a second or two. I was driving straight ahead at about 30mph on a relatively smooth paved road at the time.
The dealer told me they were aware of the noise, and claimed a small stone was to blame. (it had been test driven a number of times). I was assured that the problem would be fixed when I picked up the car.
On the drive home from the purchase, it did it again, and has done it every day that I've driven it. (about 150 miles on it now). Are these wheels susceptible to having stones lodged in them?? (assuming that's actually what's causing the noise).
Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Grinding Noise Coming From Rear Of Vehicle On Sharp Turns Under Moderate Acceleration
I own a Canadian 2013 Santa Fe sport AWD 2.0l turbo. Back in June/ July 2015 I noticed a poping / grinding noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when ever I made sharp turns under moderate acceleration. I brought my car into the dealer as it was still under warranty. They diagnosed the problem to be my viscous coupler apparently it was defective.
The part was ordered and replaced about 3 weeks later. After the warranty work was completed in still noticed a noise coming from the back end. I took my car back to the dealer. They found that the rear tires were "cupped" they recommended to get a 4 wheel alignment to solve the cupping issue.
In my past experiences tire cupping is usually caused by a worn out suspension component such as bad shocks. So to avoid conflict of interest I took my car to Canadian Tire to get the alignment checked and adjusted.
Sure enough the front wheels only were slightly out of alignment and a minor adjustment was made. No adjustments made to the rear. The technician advised me that due to the minor adjustment, the alignment would not cause my rear wheels to cup. The complete suspension was checked and no problems were found.
So...would a bad viscous coupler cause wheel cupping???
My Santa Fe had 48000kms at the time of the original noise was detected.
I do not tow a trailer or haul overloaded loads.
The majority of kilometres made Is done on highway.
The rear tires have now been rotated to the front.
Prius (2004-09) :: High Pitch Squeak / Whistle While Accelerating And Braking
My 2007 Prius Touring creates high pitch Squeak/Whistle sound while accelerating and braking, But if I put the car on neutral then the sound completely goes away. I have all the holes covered on the both side mirrors and this still occurs. The sound is constant for as long as I accelerate and Brake and the intensity varies with how hard I accelerate or brake, It also does that during regen braking when I leave the accelerator.

So, I think the glovebox lid, with the integrated air bag, is too heavy. My dash squeak around the glove box, particularly near the latch. I think the lid is too heavy and pulls on the latch, and this is causing some of the adhesive behind the trim to squeak. The noise stops if I (or the passenger) pushes on the area or if I open the glove box.

My son brought his 2007 Santa Fe over to troubleshoot a squeak upon braking. It took about an hour, but I isolated it to the braking switch. Took it out and attempted to lubricate the plunger. So for some dollars and a trip to the store and the squeak is gone. Just thought I would post this if others have an annoying squeak and don't know where to start.

View 2 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Squeak On Left Rear Wheel
Need to identify what could this be? It used to come and go, now it's constantly here. I took it to the dealer but there was a 3 hour waiting time, so I might have to go another time. If you do know what is it, could I fix it myself? While driving there's no squeaking, but I can hear a metal on metal sound while on bad roads, the type of noise you would expect from a bad tie rod or something like that, on good roads it's fine. The noise you can hear on the video happens when I push the car side to side. [URL] .....

View 19 RepliesCivic - Honda :: 2013 - Intermittent Brake Squeak / Whine At Speeds Below 20 Mph
I just recently bought a used 2013 Honda Civic with 22,000 miles.
When I apply the brakes at speeds below 20mph, you can hear a high pitch intermittent squeak from the front right wheel. The time in between each squeak gets longer as you slow down.
I check the pads on both sides and they are both fairly new. (close to a cm on the pad left) The wear indicators were no where close to the edge of the pad. I greased them up and still nothing. I checked around the rotor for any metal that could be touching it but I didn't find anything. What would make an intermittent squeak like that.

View 14 RepliesFord - Taurus :: 1995 - Grinding Sound When Accelerating
The night before last night on my way home the car made a chemical smell. Ford taurus 1995. So I checked the fluids in the morning and it was super low on antifreeze so I bought some and filled it. I checked several times and it still holding. Then when I was driving it last night it started making a chemical smell again and when I stopped it was smoking a little from under the serpentine belt, which is new. I started driving it this am after made sure the antifreeze was ok but it is making a grinding noise on acceleration. Should I try to make it to work or take it to the mechanic, who is closed on Sunday or call a tow truck? The ac which is normally good seemed to be not working so I thought it might be related to that so I didn't use it this am.

View 4 RepliesDodge - SRT-10 :: 2005 - Grating / Grinding Sound When Accelerating
2005 Dodge SRT-10 Quad Cab.... There is a strange noise, or perhaps I should say noises that sound most of the time like a grating/grinding sound. Occasionally it has less of that mechanical sound, and more of..well, like blowing air over your tongue with a lot of saliva in the way (like a cat purring with a hairball in its mouth??). Anyway, the ONLY constant I have found is that it only happens when I am accelerating (but not every time I accelerate). Most often (again there have been exceptions) it happens between 1500 & 2500 RPMs...typically just before the transmission would be inclined to shift to a higher gear - if it does shift into the higher gear, the noise stops.
Also, the moment I take my foot off of the gas pedal, the sound stops. About a third of the time, I can feel a slight vibration via my feet when the noise is stronger sounding. On two occasions (this is over a period of approximately 1 year) The sound was extremely harsh, and the truck was shaking.When I took it in the first time they told me it was the catalytic converter, and replaced it. When that didn't fix the problem, they decided it must be the other catalytic converter (yes it has two). That didn't fix the problem either.Ordinarily, rather than simply have them replace half the parts in the truck I would wait until something completely failed, thus making the culprit obvious. However, I am moving soon... and I don't want to be driving half way across the country pulling a large trailer and have the drive shaft, or transmission, or whatever - fall out.
