Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Tailgate Will Not Open When Using Key Fob
2007 Santa Fe tailgate will not open. When I use the key fob it goes through the lock and lock motion. When I grab the handel and squeeze the tailfate does not open. I took inside pannel off and checked and nothing seems broken. Also, sprayed wd40 to lube.
View 1 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Loud Thump When Fueling Up
When I fuel up I hear a loud thump in the back of my vehicle, I then hear the gas pump nozzle click off after about another half gallon is pumped in. Without understanding the design of a tank or the gauge float etc. I am guessing that something is getting stuck and releasing under pressure once the tank fills up. Of course this has me more than somewhat concerned from a safety perspective. Note that this vehicle was brought in under warranty for the fuel sensor issue and the part was replaced, would this be related to that? Will the repair still be cover as a part of that work even though my vehicle is now out of warranty?
View 5 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Light Indicating The Tailgate Is Open / Always On
I've just got a new to me 2007 Santa Fe and it's full of electrical gremlins. Today's problem is the idiot light indicating the tailgate is open is always on and the light in the hatch and the alarm randomly come on as well... the neighbours are not impressed. I can't find any pin switch on the hatch and where the switch is located. Is it a magnetic sensor? perhaps on the lock mechanism?
There is so little technical info available for these vehicles. I've always had VWs and the tech support online is insane. Hope i can resolve these problems as it seems like a good vehicle.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Thump Sound When Door Locks Toggled
I was driving the other day and heard the light thump thump sound behind me. I wasn't sure but its the same as when the door locks are toggled. So I guess the system was locking or trying to lock them. I noticed my passenger door was showing unlocked (Red showing). I manually toggled it but the e-lock over rode opening immediately as I was driving. It just wiggled.
I tested parked at home and the passenger door lock does work. Locks and unlocks with the FOB. The manual passenger lever which should move in/out appears to be disconnected. It moves slightly each time but stays showing Red.
Now to pull the panel off but it s a long hot weekend here. Shops a closed and I expect something is broken. Maybe a plastic tab holding the arm. I'll look into it tomorrow in more depth. This doesn't account for the original sound but it stopped for now.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Thump Noise When Start To Move / Continuous Beep Sound
I'm using the 2011 Santa Fe.Got few question to ask.
1.When start to move there is a thump noise and sometimes it feel like going over something from the rear area.Happen only when start to move.
2.Using the keyless remote. Sometimes push the rear trunk button to lock and arm the car there but will be a beep sound continuously. Sometimes the rear trunk button are unable to open or arm the alarm system.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: After Changing A Flat Tire Rear Tailgate Light Stays On
Today I had to replace spare tire and although i closed well the tailgate, lamp never turned off, as always (amber light on instrument cluster). I had to disconnect battery to avoid draining it. Can it really drain with only inbst cluster turned on permanently. Where is the switch of this light? Could not find it?
View 9 RepliesSanta Fe (DM - 2013+) :: 2015 - Chirping Rattle Coming From Back Seat Area
I just picked up a new Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, 2015. It now has about 1,400km on it and I have recently noticed a very annoying high pitched chirping rattle that is coming from somewhere in the back. I hear it inside of the car with me so I don't think there are any issues with the safety of the vehicle itself.
I notice the noise every time I drive, and more-so when the road is uneven. It sounds like a tin or metal object rattling against something else. I am not sure if the noise is coming from the back seats or the back door panels... or maybe even the tailgate. I have been trying to search similar issues but I don't know what else to do. I have a service appointment scheduled at the dealership next week but it seems that issues like this don't really get resolved because the mechanics can't pinpoint where they are coming from... or they can only offer a temporary fix. I really do not want my back seats or door panels removed so I am trying to pinpoint where the noise is coming from myself before I take it in so I can explain it to the mechanic in more detail...
When I took someone for a ride and he sat in the back seat to try and listen to the noise, it seemed to die down in sound quite a bit so that leads me to believe the seats may be the issue.
Ford Escape / Hybrid :: 2007 V6 - Mystery Rattle In Crankshaft Area When Idling
2007 Ford Escape XLT V6, ~60K miles .... My wife has this rattle in her escape, has had it about a month now. The rattle happens when idling, is less noticeable when driving the car, but might just be drowned out by road noise, etc. Revving the engine in neutral doesn't seem to affect the rattle at all as far as I can tell.
I listened around the engine compartment with a stethoscope for awhile and couldn't pinpoint anything so I told her to bring it in and have it looked at. She brought it in to "Brake King", they do full service mechanic work, but i'm not sure how great they are, but they are flexible about bringing the car in and looking at it right away and my wife can't be without her car for very long since she uses it for work. They said it need the sway bar rods and bushings replaced (they did this and the noise didn't go away). I was pretty suspect about it since the rattle happens when idling, but i'm no expert so I figured they knew what they were doing.
We brought it back and the guy said that the noise was internal to the engine and asked about where we get the oil done. (I do the oil myself and always use Mobil 1, I really don't think it is an oil issue. Maybe the oil filter since we don't change that every time, but again... They did a free synthetic oil change + filter change and that didn't work.
All the while i've been doing research and I decided to go ahead and remove the drive belt to see if the noise would go away when I did ( this whole time I was suspecting something on the drive belt). So I removed it and the noise did go away for the minute or so I ran it without the belt. This pretty much confirmed to me that it was something on the drive belt. I replaced the tensioner since I read that that could be a suspect and they are "relatively" cheap and easy to do. That did NOT work. (I also broke the bolt that holds it on and had a helluva time trying to find a replacement, but that is a whole other story).
So while I had the splash guard off, I listened some more. The rattle really seems to me to be coming from the crankshaft pully area rather than from the A/C compressor area or the alternator area. If it was the C/S pulley, wouldn't it still make the rattle even with the belt off? Looking in the Haynes manual, the C/S pulley doesn't necessarily look like that easy of a replacement (especially if I'm not sure it will actually fix the problem). Anyny opinions as to whether that might be the problem, and if so if a DIYer can do the replacement?
Here is the video. When watching it live, I swear I see a bit of a wobble on the pulley compared to the other pulleys on the belt line, but in the video, you can't really see it...

Lexus ES 2007-12 :: NV008-06 - Slight Rattle Noise From Rear Portion Of Headliner Area
Some customers may experience a buzz or slight rattle noise from the rear portion of the headliner when the vehicle hits small sharp bumps. It has been determined that the source of such a rattle may be the Tire Pressure Warning System (TPWS) antenna located above the headliner between the rear of the sliding roof opening and the top of the back glass.
Well, after a few months of frustration hearing a buzzing in the back seats, i notice this bulletin on the 07 ES and I've tested on my 08 car and it is the same, simply tapping on the roof liner or pulling it and releasing it makes a buzzing sound. Even when i tap on the glass roof, the buzzing sound is resonating. Would the dealer rectify this issue if my car is a 08 ? I'm still under warranty.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Rattle When The Car Is Out Of Gear
I have recently purchased an Hyundai Santa Fe 2006 2.2 diesel (Mk2).
I am experiencing a rattle when the car is out of gear. First heard it this morning. When I am in Neutral and I rev the car, as the revs drop back down to idle (700-800 rpm) i get a rattle from about 1000 rpm downover. Seems to disappear when at 800 rpm but not all the time. If I depress the clutch when sound is evident then it disappears.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Water Leak In Rear Cargo Area
I have a 2007 Santa Fe 3.3L. Water has begun leaking into the rear cargo area when it rains. It was raining today so I went out to look and the water is coming in through the rear cargo light. None of the headliner is wet. My guess is the water is coming in around the rear hatch seal but I can't find any area where it could get in.
View 4 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Screeching Noise From Gearbox Area At 2k Revs
Finally got my Auto Santa Fe on the road after buying at Auction and changing engine. If you drive reasonably gears change quietly but it you rev over 2k revs before you get to 5th gear there is a screeching noise (like a belt slipping) from the gearbox region of the car. Once in 5th gear or in Neutral there is no screech. Have it booked in with a gearbox specialist next week but have a 300 mile trip on Friday. Is there anything obvious I could have a look at before then?
View 10 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2009 - Screeching From Front Right Wheel Area
My 2009 santa fe (about 30k miles on it). I am hearing an intermittent screeching noise from the front right wheel area when driving at normal speeds. It seems like it might be brake-related because the screech stops when I apply the brakes.
I think worn pads should squeal when braking not driving. What causes a metallic screeching when the brake is not applied?
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Click Sound In Transmission Shifter Area
When I am slowing down my speed in my 2012 Santa Fe SE and about 0-1 mph, there is a "click" sound that comes from the shifter of the transmission. It can be duplicated.
While this may be perfectly normal, I have only begun to both HEAR it and FEEL it. (at 10,000 miles) it never was this prevalent.
Is it a solenoid?
Is it a switch?
Is it potentially bad news?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Whining Noise Coming From Under Floor Area Towards The Front
I just bought a 2006 (mk2) Santa Fe 2.2 CDX manual.Overall I'm pleased with the car but I have noticed over the past week of ownership a whining noise coming from under the floor area towards the front (I think). The noise only occurs around the 20mph mark ( no other speed) and is there whether I'm in gear or just coasting. The car has done 43000 (so not high mileage) has a full service history and only one owner prior to me. It does have a tow bar (which I wanted) just I case this may be relevant.

I got a few clunk noise from front left tire area. I think it happens when I turn my steering wheel to left almost max.

Today I got the clunk when I made U-turn on a street. A month ago, I heard it when I parked with fully turned front tires.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Metal Sounding Rattle From Back
I have a metal sounding rattle coming from the back of the vehicle. It sounds like it is coming from the hatch area. I removed all loose things (jack) and the noise is still there.
I checked the license plate and put foam behind it, I wrapped the latch with a layer of tape. The noise seems a bit better but still there when on rough roads.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2009 - Clicking / Squeaking From Driver Side A Pillar Area?
Just spent 12 hrs in our new 09 SF Ltd listening to a squeak/tick/click coming from driver's side A pillar area, front door jamb, or side window. I suspect - but am nowhere near sure - it's the windshield moving against gasket or molding. Had a similar issue in the Mazda3 I traded.
