Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Burnt Antifreeze Smell / Leak In Tube At The Rear Of Engine
I have a 2011 F350 diesel 6.7l. I have had this smell outside the front of the vehicle for months and so I took it finally to a dealer to solve the leak problem. They spent hours on it and eventually found a leak in a tube at the rear of the engine under the intake manifold and supposedly solved my problem. That was 2 weeks ago and I have driven about 300km.(180 miles) but the smell is still noticeable. How long should I wait before it goes away or should I return it to the dealer for further work?

Car leaks anitfreeze once again. The first time my hose exploded and my temperature light came on. Car was towed and my fans stopped working. Got that fixed. When this happened my car was on park. I turned on my fans and the fluid was leaking from the cap of the container. The whole anti freeze was everywhere. I am guessing something messed up in the engine so idk what to do anymore. I filled the anti freeze container with water and drove home with no problems. I don't know whats wrong with the car I am at the point where i just want to get rid of it. View 6 RepliesChevrolet - Venture :: 1999 - Antifreeze Leak - Overheating
My 99' Venture is leaking antifreeze and was overheating. Ok, so I figure it's something as simple as replace the radiator cap or something. My mechanic says it looks like my manifold gasket is due to be changed AGAIN. If I had one going into the other then I could see why we're talking oil when I'm talking antifreeze. I parked the car cause I have a second car. So the Van sits for 3 months and leaks into the pan I put to protect my driveway.
I could probably have filled a quart container with the puddle created. It looks Orange so yes it's antifreeze and yes it's SLIGHTLY milky when you shake it around. It doesn't show any sign of oil. BUT when I check the oil on the dipstick it's perfectly fine. The car wouldn't start so you'd say jump it right? Did that and nothing, bought a brand new battery still nothing. So I had it towed to a Mechanic. If he can't find it I'm going to plan B, let the dealer diagnose it, get a quote and take it from there.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2001 F250 - Antifreeze Leak Parked The Truck In Slightly Forward Downhill Position
I have a 2001 F250 HD gas engine. I have had this truck since 2010. I drive it only occasionally and had not driven it in a few weeks so decided to drive it the other day. I drove about 30 minutes with about half of that on the interstate. It was a fairly hot day mid 80s and I had the AC running. I parked it at a very slight forward downhill position. When I came out after 45 minutes, I saw a puddle of antifreeze in front of the vehicle. When I looked underneath the truck it was primarily dripping from the oil filter canister but also from a couple of other places. I was down about 4 inches in the reservoir. My small truck camper is on the vehicle and I had my coolant container in there.
I topped it off and traveled about 10 minutes on surface streets to my next stop.After about two hours there I came out to the truck to leave and there was not a drop. I then drove 25 minutes home with a little on the interstate running the AC and when I got home not a drop. I got up underneath it and looked all around and couldn't really see an obvious source. My neighbor is a mechanic of sorts and I asked him about it. He had a couple of theories but one involved the heater. He said to crank it up, let it warm up, and turn the heat on and see if I smelled anti-freeze. I did that and there was not a smell at all. He also said something about a cold leak.
Rodeo :: 2000 4WD LS Transmission Leak After Parking
Just started to notice a leak that appears after I park. Leaves a few drips and stops. Drive shaft is covered with fluid though so I know its getting bad.
I've not been able to find any plugs other than the one in the bottom of the pan. The leak itself is coming from a circular object which is inserted into the side of the transmission about midway back on the right side. The object (is this a plug?) is about 1.5" in diameter and is held in place by an internal C ring. Looks like it has a bad O-ring or something.
What this is and how to fix? Also, is this in fact the filler plug, if not where are they. I've seen several areas that might corresponding to where the manual says they should be, but they are all blanks.
Rodeo :: 98 - Temp Gauge Creeping Up To Hot When Stopped / Coolant Leak?
Got a '98 rodeo 3.2 with 160k. A couple weeks ago when stopping at red lights I noticed the temp gauge creeping up to the hot when stopped. This happened about 4 years ago and I was just low on coolant. I kind of figured that was the problem this time and added coolant. Then I started noticing coolant on the ground dripping from the skid plate a little toward the passenger side. The vehicle is parked on the street in front of my house so the vehicle may lean slightly to the passenger side. This rodeo is only driven during the week and then sits for 2-3 days on the weekend.
Over the last couple weeks I have noticed that it doesn't really leak during the week when it's being driven daily and if it does, it's just a drop or two. Now when it sits for 2-3 days there is a pizza sized leak under the vehicle probably about 18 inches wide. Since the overflow wouldn't hold coolant, I figured that it was cracked or had a leak. I removed the reservoir and didn't find a leak. I seen no evidence of a leak anywhere else, however since it's dripping from the skid plate, I assume that it's leaking on the front side of the engine. What to check. Seems strange that it doesn't really leak when running or hot, only when sitting for a few day.
BMW :: Cooling System Leak - Losing Antifreeze
I have a 2001 530i BMW experiencing an overheating problem. I replaced hoses, radiator, thermostat, water pump, alternator, both belts all of which went fine. However still loosing anti-freeze, it seems to be coming from under the intake manifold. Looking for step by step instructions on removing it to get to the problem?
View 5 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Airbag Light Would Not Go Off And Antifreeze Leak
Bought a new 2012 end of February. With 500 miles on it, my airbag light would not go off. Dealer said something had come unplugged. Ok, things happen. This Saturday, there was green antifreeze on the garage floor. Took to dealer. Said there's a crack in the thermostat housing. Ordered a new one. Came in this morning. Called and said there's a problem with the "elbow" in the housing too. They didn't want to fix just the housing alone, so ordered the "elbow". I know nothing about a thermastat housing. I have 10,000 miles my Santa Fe. The service dept. said the airbag light was a recall. I checked it out and it's for older Santa Fe's, not 2012. Does this sound unusual to you?
View 2 RepliesPontiac :: Smoke Coming From Engine / Antifreeze Leak
As I was about to pull onto the highway I noticed smoke coming from my engine. I pulled into my mechanic. The antifreeze was empty. He filled it but couldn't find a leak. The next day I found antifreeze on my garage floor. I brought it back but he still couldn't find a leak. He thought he might have spilled some when he filled it. It is now two weeks later and the antifreeze is still leaking. I see it when I pull out of and into my garage when I momentarily stop to open and close the door.
View 2 RepliesTouareg :: 2005 - Antifreeze Leak - Water Pump?
Today afternoon I started the Touareg and got a noise, check the hook and there was a lot of antifreeze on the front of the engine and the belt splatter all over the front of the engine.
Could not see where the leak was coming from, re started the engine there was a lot of antifreeze.
All temp where ok and oil showed no water on it.
Drove to dealer only a few miles away and when showed the engine the engine was dry just the splatter. Left it there for them to check tomorrow.
Could the water pump go bad, never replaced or noise? Have 110,000 miles on the car and just replaced belt a month ago.
I am hoping is not a leak on the head.
Saturn - Sl :: 1995 - Antifreeze Leak On Driver Side Under The Car
I have a 1995 Saturn SL with 131,000 miles. It is a good car, and still pushes 40 mpg. The problem is that I have developed an antifreeze leak. I noticed it last weekend, and have had to add antifreeze twice. It appears to be leaking on the drivers side under the car, but the reservoir is on the passenger side. I have not been able to locate the exact leak.

My 1982 Ford Granada has a slow, external antifreeze leak that I can't seem to pinpoint. It happens only when the car is running and warmed up (pressure in the system). It dosen't leak when cold and sitting. Are leak stopper additives any good? Or, will such additives clog my radiator (fairly new) or ruin the water pump or thermostat?
View 17 RepliesJeep - Coolant - Liberty :: 2006 2wd Using Antifreeze A Lot - No Visible Leak
I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty (2WD), 149k miles, that has been using a lot of antifreeze lately. I am using a full 50/50 gallon mix about once a week. I do not have any visible leaks. My heater no longer works and I was not sure if that may be a cause. The check engine light is on, but has been since I purchased the vehicle in 2012. I thought it may be a gasket, but do not see any white smoke from the exhaust. I am not hearing any strange sounds, so I am perplexed.
View 5 RepliesPontiac - G6 :: Antifreeze Smell / Small Or Intermittent Coolant Leak?
The last couple of days I thought I smelled antifreeze and I had to add about a pint of coolant to the reservoir. So I looked all around today and can't see anything leaking. Nothing on the floor. I suspected the water pump but looked pretty dry from what I could see. Thing is if its the pump, its still under warranty for a few months and 7,000 miles so want to find that pretty quick. Radiator is fairly new also from hitting a coon. Any tips? Not sure if a pressure test would detect a small or intermittent leak in the pump though.
View 7 RepliesFord Excursion :: Antifreeze Leak - Coolant Plastic Reservoir On MIN
Noticed this leak today a few days after parking the Ex (V10) -- not a daily driver. Crawled under the Ex and checked under the hood but I could not find an obvious sign of where the leak is coming from.
I checked the coolant plastic reservoir and its on MIN -- I believe that where it should be when the engine is cold. I noticed that these trucks do not have a cap directly on the radiator. That plastic reservoir, is that where I would top off the coolant?
Is there a spot on these engines where it would commonly leak? Should I try to put some dye on the coolant and/or possibly pressure test it?
Ford - Explorer :: 2002 - Antifreeze Smell - Coolant Leak
Son in law just bought a 2002 Explorer with the 4.0. Looks in pretty good shape and overall I don't think he got a bad deal. However....after a test drive I noticed an antifreeze smell. Got to poking around and it appears to be leaking directly below the thermostat housing and that whole manifold for lack of a better word. It's a bugger to get in there and really see what's leaking...doesn't appear to be any hoses but given the angle can't be really sure. I'm new to the Explorer and the 4.0. Is this anything peculiar to the Explorer/4.0? A known part problem? Something far worse?
