GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Lights Behind HVAC Controls Burnt Out
How difficult is it to change the bulb(s) for the dome light in a 05 GLI (mine is burnt out). Also the lights behind the HVAC Controls is burnt out as well, so is that difficult to get at and fix. I wouldn't think those would be on the same fuse cuz all the other interior lights work and everything, but I don't know.
View 10 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Changing The Color Of HVAC Controls
I know it's just one bulb behind the fan speed control knob. I also know (or was told, rather) that the lighting color is red because of some red plastic doo-dad. What I don't know is whether or not this plastic is red because of a film or coating applied to clear plastic or if the plastic itself is red.
I work at a graphics shop so I've got translucent vinyl film in various shades and tints of blue. If it's a film or coating applied to clear plastic that makes the lighting red, I could probably remove it from the plastic and apply a blue film. I'd really prefer not to take apart the dash to remove the HVAC controls only to find out that I'm stuck with red lighting.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Luke Warm Air When HVAC Controls Turned To Hot
When my hvac controls are turned to hot, I'm getting only luke warm air. When moved over to cold it feels like the a/c is on...granted it is 21 degrees here. What I've done so far:
1. Flushed the coolant system at the local COOP TBA
2. Flushed heater core-Both heater hoses are hot to the touch as well as the heater core itself. The hoses are within 10 degrees of each other tested by an infrared temp gauge.
3. Verified the blend door actuator is moving. I can see it spin while attached to the box as well as I pulled it out and plugged it in it will move from hot to cold.
4. Smacked the #$%! out of the blend door box.
The fan still functions as it should from low to high. The truck also gets up to operating temp as usual.
Is it possible the actuator is still faulty even though it moves and not going all the way to the heat side? I considered picking up a replacement but I hate to start throwing parts at it.
Did the blend door give up? The snow is here and I need the heat for those 4am waterfowl hunting trips.
Prius (2001-03) :: HVAC Diagnostic Showing 21 Code
I am on vacation and the AC has stopped working in my '01 Prius. I have run the HVAC diagnostic and it shows the "21" code. The only thing I can find related to this code is the solar sensor fault. I have located the solar sensor on the dash but am not sure how to remove (to replace) it. I have gotten the little black cover off of it but don't know how the rest comes out. Does it just pull out or unscrew or do I have to squeeze some tabs or what?

I am struggling with it, and need to get it done - by myself, as I can't afford a service job. I am handy, and comfortable doing it, But I am confused about how to get into the blower housing.

I was just wondering where the interior temperature sensor of the hvac system is located?
View 2 RepliesPrius (Gen 3) :: Customize Steering Wheel Controls?
Trying setting up new controls in the steering wheel of a Prius? I have the "four" package so there's a blank spot on the right side where the radar cruise and lane assist controls would be, and I would kill to have the three driving mode buttons right there for easy switching while driving around town. Is that sort of thing even technically possible?
View 7 RepliesPrius (2001-03) :: Button Below Sunroof Controls (ACS)
There is a button below the sunroof controls called "ACS". There is no mention of it in the owner's manual.
View 1 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Blinking Red LED Next To Mirror Controls?
In my 2010, I have a red LED light in the lower left dashboard- in a series of four buttons next to mirror controls, none of which are used- that suddenly started blinking when I start the car, and drive it. I'm not getting any other trouble indicators from the main screen. What it could be?
View 1 RepliesPrius C :: How To Remove Steering Wheel Controls
I'm looking to take off my steering wheel controls to wrap them. Do I just rip the horn cover off or pop them off? I'm worried about deploying air bags or are those thoughts unfounded?
View 2 RepliesPrius (Gen 3) :: Remote Controls AC Equipped Button Don't Work
Page 285 of the 2010 Prius Owner Manual states:
"Remote Air Conditioning System" =if equipped
The Remote Air Conditioning System uses electrical energy stored in the hybrid battery (traction battery) and allows the air conditioning to be operated by remote control. My remote controls have this button, but nothing happens when I press them for a couple seconds.
Prius (Gen 3) :: 2010 Heater Controls - Auto Never Works On AC
We have a 2010 Prius, and I can't remember if AUTO just works on AC. or is suppose to work for controlling heat also. (Doesn't seem to) Nothing in book, and search turns up nothing.
View 19 RepliesPrius C :: 2013 - Screen On Climate Controls Is Bright
One thing that always annoyed me about my 2013 Prius C was that screen on the climate controls is SO BRIGHT at night, and turning the dimmer down didn't do anything to change it. I like a very dark dash when driving at night.
View 1 RepliesGen 2 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Dim Steering Wheel Controls
Most will agree it would be nice if the steering wheel controls were brighter. There has to be a tech out there that knows where the light source comes from. ( Its not magic.) If its a bulb, can a brighter one be installed??
View 8 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Some Of The Steering Wheel Controls Are Not Working
My 07 Prius has developed a problem and i would like to get opinions about whether the problem could've been caused by the body work I had done a week before.
i want to know if i should take it back to the body shop and ask them to check it, or, if it's not likely to have been caused by the body work, then i'll just take it to the Toyota agency. If it wasn't the body shop, I am hoping to have it covered by the Prius Chat platinum warranty.
When presenting this to the body shop or the Toyota agency, i would like to be as informed as possible about what the possibilities are.
The problem is that some of the steering wheel controls are not working. Some of the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel are not responding. The Info button does not work, and the climate related buttons on the bottom get no response. The Map button and all the bluetooth phone buttons do work.
At first, there was a delayed response when using the Info button. The next day, it stopped responding at all.
Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Steering Wheel Controls Dim
I'm still getting use to the center dash design. When I look at my steering wheel at night the buttons are barely lit. I'm assuming there is no way to make them brighter? Brightness control does not seem to affect the steering wheel.

Aside from spending $ to have the polarity reversed on the HVAC display, is there anything be done to darken the display letters and numerals? In the daylight this thing is unreadable. Very poor design by Toyota. Any little tricks that I don't know about?
View 4 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Air Circulation And Defogger Controls Button Won't Work
I have a Prius Gen II. I am driving it for last 1 year. Never noticed before that my Air-Circulation (Fresh air) Control and Defogger Controls (All three are in one small dial) are not working. I can control these functions through MFD though.
View 4 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Steering Wheel Controls Stopped Working
Background (not sure if it's relevant): My car was in the body shop for 13 days. I got it back on 8/24. Damage was too the bottom right side, doors and adjacent body.
When i picked up the car and drove it, it seemed fine except that the MPG average was only 25mpg. Normally for me, it's around 38 to 40. It has gradually come back up. for this reason, i was frequently pressing the Info button on the steering wheel to bring up the screen that shows the current mpg average.
