Prius (2010-12) :: 2011 - At Start Up Sounds Like The Space Shuttle?
I have a 2011 Prius, purchased new last August. It currently has 28000 miles on it.
Since new though, about once or twice a month, when you start it....it sounds like the space shuttle launching. It also shakes and rattles....for about 2-3 seconds.
Upon it's regular service, I complained of the noise. Toyota said that they were having problems with a motor mount.....so they replaced it. Of course a couple weeks later, it does it again...and again...and again.
Prius (Gen 3) :: 2011 - Fan Sounds Like Wind Coming In Through Rear Window
I am wondering how much fan noise is normal from the passenger rear vent while driving.
My fan is on almost constantly and it sounds like wind coming in through the rear window but it is actually the fan from the vent. I have had passengers in the front seat ask what the noise is coming from the rear. I have taken it into the dealer 3 times and they say that is normal for Prius' to have that noise all the time.
My Prius is 2011, bought on Feb 2, 11.
I have 5000 miles and the noise has been present from the onset of owning the vehicle. I am really frustrated because it sounds excessive to me. Is your fan on most of the time and significantly audible?

Just wondering... should there be any plastic pieces inside the wheel wells directly in front of the rear wheels? There is empty space on mine where it looks like leaves and whatnot could collect. I can get a picture if needed. I expected there to be a plastic cover of some sort. Then again, maybe it is on purpose so if stuff collects in there you will see it and clean it out.

The spot in front of the steering wheel is just a bare patch of dashboard. Why not put it to use? I can put my GPS or my phone there any time, attached with magnets.

I am a new diesel owner. So I'm not too familiar, how to trouble shoot. I am however, pretty familiar with working on gasoline vehicles. I have a 1999 E-450 Shuttle Bus that will not start after parking it for just 3 days. I live in the area where weather has been above 90 degrees each day. I've charged the batteries, replaced them, and boosted, still no start. I have fuel coming in the bowl. And the battery meter on dash is showing that I'm cranking at around 14 volts.

I'm a rideshare driver who drives about 1000 miles/week. I currently have a Gen 2 which I love, but I'm looking to upgrade to a Gen 4 pretty soon.
-Does the Gen 4 have the same kind of under-trunk storage area in the hatch/cargo area? This is important for me on the Gen 2 because it allows me to carry equipment while having an empty hatch space for passengers luggage. Does it depend on if you have a spare tire or not?
-Real-world MPG in extended city driving with A/C on?
-Where are the 12v outlets? And extend one into the hatch area?
-Is there a notable difference in comfort for touring vs non touring models?
-Does the driver's seat with lumbar support make a significant difference in comfort?
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: AC Deep Groan / Growl Sounds
2011 Sonata GLS
Sometimes the AC will make a deep low vibrating sound like a groan or growl. It will go away after a minute. Or if I turn off the AC then turn it back on it stops making the noise.
Mostly it happens at idle or in gear but car is stopped. Or a very low road speed. Occasionally it will go away if engine speed is raised (driving faster or revving engine in PARK). What's going on? Any known issues or TSBs?
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Tapping Sounds From Passenger Side C Pillar
Developed a very annoying plastic creek/ tapping sounds from the passenger side C pillar. Almost sounds like it coming from between the c pillar and the rear window, but can't be sure. It's definitely trim related and not suspension. Also how difficult it would it be to remove the C pillar Plastic cover?
Lastly, how many have had success in getting rattles/ squeaks worked out after the 1 year adjustment warranty? I did mention that on a service visit when it showed up right before the warranty expired, but it was very warm that day and the rattle went away.
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Torque Value Sounds Way High For Rear Links?
I am replacing the rear stabilizer bar and also decided to go with new links being i am upgrading. My concern is the torque value in the hyundai service manual. It shows 72.3 ~ 86.8 lb-ft for the part of the link that mounts to the control arm? below is the link so you can see the part. This just sounds way too high to me... I know this is what hyundai says and also on the Moog instructions it states 78 ft-lbs!

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Sounds (Almost Musical) Coming From Dashboard Area Of Car
My wife has been complaining of sounds that are almost musical in nature coming from the dashboard area of the car. She said the sounds occur periodically and are a Duh-Duh-Duh type of sound that is almost musical. She says she can't tell exactly where the sound is coming from. It is almost like some kind if warning sound and just last occurred as she pulling into our driveway a few minutes ago. She said the MPG box in the center was pulsing in sequence with the sounds.
I have never had this happen to me to me. Taking this too a dealer would, most likely be futile, unless the problem could be replicated while at the dealer. She listens to Satellite Radio and I do not. Could this be of any consideration?

I have a 2011 Sonata SE 2.4 In the last week Ive noticed a noise what sounds like my valves are rattling or maybe even a bad lifter. This only happens when I bring the RPM's up to 2500-3000. Not at idol or normal driving when RPM's are around 2000 or lower. Its getting progressively louder every couple of days. I've ruled out bad gas (I used another station in another city on last fill up ). My oil is changed every 3000-4000 miles with the recommended oil as well.

Touareg :: V6 Stalled While Reversing Out Of Parking Space
Our V6 Touareg stalled while reversing out of a parking space last night. We have about 21,000 miles on it, and never had this problem before. I was able to fire up the engine again without any problem... by the way, can you tell if the battery is good or not from the battery meter in the instrument cluster?

I'm considering ordering an IS350 F-Sport RWD in the next few months and I compare everything to my wife's 2013 BMW 335i Xdrive. I guess this is a legitimate comparison since both are in the same category. However whenever I look at the interior pictures one thing pops up : the size of the NAV screen. Why on earth did they leave around 1 inch of unused space to the left and right of the screen? It annoys me because everything in the interior looks more upscale than the 335, but this thing looks so cheap.

My new 2008 2.0T Passat wagon, Lux version has a 20" L x 5" W x 1.5" D space on the inside of the rear hatch behind the license plate with two knobs that you turn to open it. The covering door is hinged and it looks like it might be a space to put something because there are four plastic clips that might be there to retain something. Cannot find any reference to it in the owners manual.

I think the door when closed leaves too much space for dirt and mud to accumulate. Especially combined with the fact that the car has no mud guards. Usually wont complain about something like this but this happens just a day or 2 after detailing the car.
