Prius (2004-09) :: Brakes Are Too Sensitive When Coming To A Stop

Am a recent owner of an '06 Prius and like the car so far. The only fault is something I have never run into before. The brakes are very sensitive when coming to a stop. I find it almost impossible to feather the pedal and make the stop comfortable.

Prius (Gen 2) Fuel :: 2007 - Low MPGs In Winter / Brakes Sensitive

I bought my 2007 Prius in July 2010 with 70k on it. To date it has 78k.

During the summer months I was in Colorado and achieving anywhere between 400-450 miles to the tank.

In August I returned to the Mid-West, running well and achieving the same mileage, but as winter has come along, it is now getting about 300-350 miles to the tank, but has gotten as low as 240.

The brakes have seemed to become more sensitive, and the car seems to rattle more when I come to a stop.

Are these just symptoms, especially LOWER MILES PER TANK caused by the cold Mid-West winter?????

Phaeton :: 2004 - Front Suspension Is Overly High?

I just bought my Phaeton on tuesday. It is a 2004 V8 and the suspension is normal in the back, but the front is way too high. I know the batteries need replaced and that is being dealt with right now, but is this the batteries or something else? Is there a way to put it down that doesn't involve a VAG COM

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2010 - Brakes Overly Aggressive?

2010 F-150 SuperCrew. The braking is overly aggressive especially at slow speeds. It is most noticable in parking lots when trying to ease into a parking space or just easing up to the curb. I took it back to the dealership and they printed a statement from Ford stating that aggressive brakes are normal and no adjustment should be made. It is annoying to the point my wife does not want to drive the truck. Obviously there have been enough complaints that Ford has a prepared statement.

Otherwise a great driving truck. I test drove two new Sierra SLE Texas Editions and the Ford drove much better. Also the GMC, hesitated everytime you leave from a dead stop.

Golf VI R :: Clunk When Going In Reverse And Then Braking

I've been noticing when going in reverse and then braking, when then going forward and braking there is a clunk which seems to come from the front brakes. Is this normal? Shifting of the pads in the caliper?

Touareg :: Clunk When Braking In Reverse?

So I noticed my Treg makes a clunk when I break when backing up. If I hit the gas, then brake, 'clunk'. Sounds like its coming from the rear or undercarriage. Hopefully not serious but its going in for service soon.

Passat (B5) :: Inefficient Braking Action Especially In Reverse

Here's an interesting problem our B5 (2001 1.8T) has experienced recently -- When backing up and then applying the brakes there's very little effective braking occurring, sometimes to the point of the pedal traveling almost to the floor. I've recently had the brake pads and rotors checked -- all rotors are OK and the front pads are "almost new" condition. The rear pads were showing significant wear and I had those replaced, but we're still seeing the same problem.

I can also tell that braking action driving forward feels less than optimal, although not nearly as troubling as when attempting to stop in reverse. I'm suspicious of a problem with the vacuum assist unit, either a bad hose or possibly a defect in the boost unit itself. Can the VW shop definitively test the appropriate vacuum line(s) to the booster and the booster unit itself for a problem?

Touareg :: Single Clunk When Braking While In Reverse

I get an audible 'clunk' whenever I brake while in reverse. The sound reminds me of my old 4X4 when I would back up to take it out of 4 wheel drive. I searched for some existing posts but didn't get the keywords right or they don't exist.

Dodge - Grandcaravan :: Clunking Noise When Braking In Reverse

If I am moving in reverse and tap the brake I hear a clunk from the rear of the car. If I continue in reverse and then again apply the brake then no clunk. If I drive forward and stop, no clunk. If I then shift into reverse again and apply brake I get the clunk again. Had the struts/shocks replaced but no change.

Grand Prix :: 2004 - Loud Clunk While Having The Car In Reverse And Power Braking It

In my 2004 Comp G I have an extremely loud clunk when braking. The braking clunk does not happen all the time. There is a clunk while having the car in reverse and power braking it. While holding down the brake and revving hard and fast it make the loud clunk every time. It will not do it all the time in drive though. I can not pin point which side it is coming from. It sounds as if it is mostly the right. It almost sounds as if it is coming from inside the trans near the pan area?

I have replaced the lower control arms, sway bar bushings, stab links, struts & mounts, I have solid engine and trans and top mounts, new inner and outer tie rods, all wheel bearings, etc.... (not for this issue, just for performance/wear).

I am torn between thinking it is a cv axle or internal drive train noise.

TrailBlazer :: Grinding Noise Coming From Front Left Wheel When Braking In Reverse

So whenever I brake while reversing (and rarely while moving forwards) I hear this odd grinding noise coming from the front left wheel and can feel it through the brake. Im not a petrol head but I decided to replace a wheel bearing hub myself recently to save money. I am pretty sure I reconnected the anti lock brakes correctly though I doubt it's that. My brakes are good.

Golf/GTI VI :: How Sensitive Is A/C To Quick Recycling

I think this concern of mine stems from past trauma related to broken A/C's (in cars and homes) with expensive repairs, but did I shorten the life of my GTI's A/C by stalling the car shortly after start up, and then restarting it again (with the A/C on)? The A/C got cycled on, then off, then on again within a 10-20 second time span.

4Runner/GX470 :: 1997 - Brakes Are Very Sensitive

I've noticed that my brakes are very sensitive lately. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the differential oil that got on the rear pads when the rear seals blew out about 3 months ago. The shop cleaned them off but they still looked oily to me. I'm also wondering if it is parking brake related as one or both of the bellcranks are frozen (there's no cable sag, but one of the stops has a gap and the parking brake doesn't work). Or is it brake fluid related. I am years past the point of needing to replace the brake fluid and bleeding out the old fluid.

Ford - Focus :: 2007 - Brakes Are Less Sensitive

I have a 2007 Ford Focus and 'bout a month ago, the brakes lost compression when applied. The mechanic replaced the master cylinder and we thought everything was ok. After driving it around we noticed the brakes are less sensitive then before. Prior to this, lightly taping/pressing the brakes would slow the car. Now you must press more firmly and with a bigger stopping distance. Additionally, if you press very hard or very suddenly, it feels like the roughness of the road is transmitted to the foot. It's a bit choppy too and the car won't stop for several seconds. After 2-3 seconds it does stop. This happened three times in two weeks. It's never occurred before. When this happens to my husband, he pumps the brakes to correct it, and when this happens to me, I keep pressing down 'till it works. Could the anti-lock brakes be acting up? We brought it to the mechanic and so far he hasn't found a problem.

Passat (B7) :: 2015 - Light Sensor Is Too Sensitive

I have a 2015 limited Passat and the auto light sensor is very sensitive. It turns on the headlights as soon as you hit a shaded part on the road. This happens in pure daylight and also is there a way to adjust how long the headlights stay on after the light sensor turns them on? Example if you drive into a shaded road and then hit sunlight the lights stay on for a long time until your DRL's turn on.

I have a VagCom and have been messing around but I can't find a way to adjust these settings.
