Prius (Gen 2) :: Single Clicking Noise When Brakes Applied At Slower Speeds
When I gently apply the brakes at slower speeds there is a single "click" noise. This happens every time. I took it to the dealer. They said it was normal. I am just trying to find out if indeed it is. Do other people get this click when they apply the brakes.

We have a new 2015 Prius with 6k on it and we are noticing one solid brief single click when the brake pedal is pressed and/or released. It doesn't happen every time (just some of the time) but it is only noticeable at slow speeds.
View 19 RepliesLexus GS 2006-11 :: Single Knock Noise When Pushed On The Brakes
Recently, I changed the brakes on my 2006 Lexus GS300. Everything went real smooth with changing the front and back brakes.
When I took it for a test drive, I immediately noticed a SINGLE knock noise when I pushed on the brakes. Also, I noticed that sometimes when I got +50 mph, I'll hear the knocking noise in a repetitive fashion. If I gently apply pressure on the brakes, the knock noise stops. If I let go of the brake, the knock noise returns. It sounds like the knock noise is coming from the front-driver side area.
What the culprit could be? I've taken the wheel off a few times, took the brake pads off, put them back on, made sure the caliper screws were tight, etc.
Prius (Gen 2) :: Clicking Noise From Brakes - Chirping When Press Hard
There is a pretty loud continuous clicking noise lasting about 30 seconds (not necessarily a bad one - just annoying) that comes on every thirty seconds to a minute when I'm driving my Prius. It happens more often now than it did 10,000 miles ago.
It also happens without fail for a few seconds every time I brake. Is this a normal noise? I fear it may be associated with the brake actuator--which the chirping noise is associated with.
If I press firmly on the brakes (which is rare), they chirp. Toyota released a bulletin on it. TSB BR001-07
Prius (Gen 3) :: Single Click Sound When Accelerating Off The Line Or Brakes Pressed
My 2010 with 110k is now making a single yet audible "click" sound when I accelerate off of the line. It makes the same exact sound each time I press the brake pedal at speed. Just one click, not a continuous clicking. What's wrong??

Right this clicking noise is really annoying me now, every time AFTER i brake i hear this click, the faster i stop the louder the click is, also when I am in neutral and suddenly rev its clicks sometimes but rarely, I am thinking it could be a loose exhaust somewhere? Its definitely coming from under my foot area. When I brake cornering it clicks too. Checked my control arms and everything, that's not rattling at all? Need to get rid of this click sound!!

I have dual fabtech shocks in the front with 10" lift. I want to switch to all icon shocks. I think just the monotube, or are the remote reservoir going to ride a lot better? Would I be better off going back to single shocks in the front or keeping duals?
View 1 RepliesLexus LS 2007+ :: Brakes Making Clicking Noise While In Reverse
The other day I had my windows open while backing up and noticed that the brakes make a clicking noise when I initially apply them while in reverse.
This happens every time I'm in reverse and I apply the brakes.
The clicking is only when I first step on the brake, but it happens every time I first step on the brake in reverse.
Maybe this is unique to the LS600hL (2008)? Are brakes on my LS different from brakes on LS460 / LS460L?
Golf IV R32 :: Clicking Noise Coming From Rear (brakes) While Moving
I am getting this weird clicking/ticking noise coming from the rear of the car. I might have to let someone drive the car and follow and listen for myself (but i dont like other people driving my car), but its definitely coming from the rotation of moving.
It is audible moving forwards and reverse. It speeds up as the speed increases. It comes from the passenger side and can hear it mostly from the sound bouncing off things from the outside. I cant feel it, its just an annoying sound. I still hear it while applying the brakes. Sort of sounds like flicking sound. Pads have plenty of life and changed my rotors about 20k ago.
I've read somewhere about brake pad spring busting but its still audible when the brakes are on so I don't think that's it.
Prius (Gen 2) :: 2008 - Clicking Or Ping When Step On Brakes
I had a 2008 Prius. I travel to a town which is at 7300 feet sea level. When up in the altitude and when I step on the brakes, I hear a clicking or Ping. When I get back to Phoenix, it goes away. I talked to the local dealer in the mountains and he said he has had several people ask him about this. He asked the Toyota Tech experts and they cannot tell him why this is happening. I now have a 2012 Prius and the same thing happens.
View 1 RepliesLexus LS 2007+ :: Clicking Noise From Rear When Tapping Brakes In Reverse
I had my window down as I was backing the car into the garage today and heard a metallic clicking noise from the rear as I tapped on the brakes. The noise only happens when I am in reverse. When I put it in drive and move forward there is no clicking noise. As an AZ resident its rare for us to have the windows down so to be honest I cant really say how long this has been going on for. My car was just in for service for oil , tire balance, and alignment this saturday

View 9 RepliesFord Brakes/Suspension :: Steering Makes Loud Clicking Noise While Driving?
About 3 weeks ago, I noticed the SUV would occasional make a loud "CLICK" sound in the front steering area, usually if I made a fast turn motion (either left or right).
So today I put it up on a ramp and took a look and it's obvious there's a part in there that is coming loose. I don't know what the names of the stuff is in there, so I'm posting a photo with arrows & letters so people can tell me what's what, and also what to do.
I tried putting a vise grip on it and tightening it with a ratchet wrench on the top part (16mm), but the lower nut just spins. I decided to not go any further because I really don't know what that assembly is, what it does, if it's broke, etc.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Clicking Noise Coming From Front End When Applying Brakes At Slow Speeds
A while back I posted a thread trying to fix a clicking noise coming from the front end on my F-350 dually when applying the brakes at slow speeds (under 15 mph).
While returning from our camping trip last week the noise is back again. It does not occur after the truck sits overnight or for a few hours. But after driving for 30 minutes or longer the clicking will return when I apply the brakes at slow speeds. I tested the rotor temps with a heat gun and it seems to start when the rotor temps get above 120 degrees F. So I removed the brake pads & calipers, regreased the slide pins, cleaned up the pads and applied some lubricant on the back of the pads. I also bent the pad clips so they would fit snugger/tighter in the slots.
Whatever I did seemed to cure the clicking while driving around this weekend. I made sure I got the front brakes nice and warm - up to 180 degrees or so.
When I did this same procedure a few months ago the clicking went away - but eventually returned.
Should I get some better clips? Replace the sliding pins? Pads? The rotors & pads were replaced this winter & the shop said they and the labor are still under warranty. But if they use the same clips - I'm concerned I'll be back to square one in a month or so.
Landrover :: 2004 - Single Ticking Noise On Top End
I have 2004 land rover discovery, and i hear a single ticking noise on top. I open valve covers, and i was thinking bad lifter. I can see nothing really broken, but i found one of the push rods bent. I inspected all of them, and i got new lifters and push rods only for one side. I put it together, runs fine, but half an hour after, the noise came back again.

View 6 RepliesPrius (Gen 3) :: Single Pip Keeps Blinking Until Car Run Out Of Fuel
On a Gen III. Just wondering, I know at about 25 miles to empty on the display I get a single blinking pip on the fuel gauge. Usually I'll gas up about 30 miles after the display reads 0 miles to empty, and put in about 9.75 to 10 gallons. I know I still have maybe 1.75-2.00 gallons in reserve.
Does the single pip keep blinking until you run out of fuel?
