Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Noise And Rattle When Turning And Accelerating At Same Time
Hit a long 4x4 post on the freeway and bent a front rim. Was able to miss most of it but hit it with the right tires. It didn't hit anything under the car that I can tell. Got a new rim and moved the TPMS and tire to the new rim. Back wheel looks ok. Still have a low pressure light. TPMS was lit when I had the bad wheel out of the car but is now out.
Have previously had trouble with another wheel giving a warning when it was only a pound or two low. Checked all the wheels and added a few pounds to each and still have the light.
How do I troubleshoot the TPMS? How long should the batteries last - is this just normal life of the sensors? It's a 2009 model.
Also have some noise and rattles I didn't have before. Not when going straight but when turning and accelerating at the same time. Hoping its just some shields and nothing too serious... I looked and didn't see anything obviously loose so I need to dig into it a bit more.
Prius (2010-12) :: Engine Slighty Rattle During Accelerating
So lately I've been hearing what sounds like a slight lifter knock that develops at 1500 rpm to 2700 (I have ultragauge) when accelerating or maintain speed, and it only appears when the engine is at operating temp and disappears when rpm is below 1500 rpm and above 2500 rpm my oil is running at 3900 miles using Toyota synt 0W-20 and it looks pretty clean and at high mark of the dip stick.
View 3 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Crank / Rattle Noise When Accelerating After Engine Warms Up
It happens mostly after the engine warms up. When I accelerate, I hear a weird cranking noise coming from under the hood (sometimes it doesn't happen). I popped the hood to see if there was anything wrong, but i didn't find anything major (there were 3 loose screws that I tightened because I thought they were causing the vibration but the noise persisted).
I doesn't make the sound when I rev the engine, only when I am was driving. It happens roughly between 1500 and 3000 RPM. I read some of the archives to get a few ideas, but the noises people are describing are not like the one I am hearing from my car. The closest thing I found this: [URL] ....
I made a video. You'll hear the noise the loudest when I first start pressing the gas, from a complete stop: [URL] ...
Toyota - Pickup :: 1994 Suddenly Developed A Rattle Noise Only When Accelerating
My son has a 1994 Toyota Pick Up, and it suddenly developed a rattle noise, but only when he is accelerating. I suggested he check for loose heat shields, or a broken engine mount, fan rubbing on radiator housing, but all of this is good. He had a new timing chain put in 30,000 miles ago, and a new clutch. It has 167,000 miles on it. The oil does not have flakes or coolant. It does not make the noise when not in gear and accelerating. Could it be u-joints? He said is sounds like it is coming from the Lft Front, not the undercarriage. Fuel injected. does not overheat, or lug, or lack power.
2wd. 5sd tranny.
Accord :: Throttle Body Vibration - High Frequency Rattle Noise Inside Engine Compartment
So I'm at my wits end trying to locate (and fix) a loud, high frequency rattle noise inside the engine compartment.
It can be heard when applying the gas pedal a certain amount. In other words, I can "find" the noise and maintain it at a certain rpm.
The noise is coming from the back of the engine near the firewall. It feels and sounds like it's coming from the throttle body plate and vibrating the gas pedal. I cleaned the plate and it isn't loose.
The issue doesn't seem to be affecting engine performance.
The sound is noticeable while driving (under load). When in park, I can find an rpm where the throttle body seems to take a heavy wave of vibration from the engine and hum (but not nearly as loud as while driving). Issue existed before I put on new motor mounts, and still persists after replacing all 4 (although the vibration and noise are reduced).
Passat (B5) :: Throttle Stuck When Accelerating
My gas pedal has stuck the last 2 days a few times, when I accelerate. I let the pressure go and then when i accelerate again, the pedal pushes smoothly. Why this happens? I am worried it could be a bigger problem.
View 7 RepliesToyota - Sienna :: 2006 - Rattle When Throttle Released
It appears I have stumped my mechanic. My '06 Toyota Sienna with 78k miles started making a rattle noise (my toddler says he hears a helicopter) every time I take my foot off the gas. It is most obvious between 25-60mph. The sound continues when the brake is depressed, but stops once the brake is fully engaged. My mechanic doesn't know what is making the noise, but suspects something inside the transmission, and wants to replace the transmission (which is $5600 I'd rather avoid spending if possible). 78k miles is pretty young for a new transmission, especially on a Toyota, right? Where to look next?

Ford Aerostar :: 4.0L - Rattle At Specific Throttle Settings When Oil Warm
My 230,000km 4.0 Litre will rattle (Only engine warm) when backing off the throttle such as decelerating slightly in preparation to turn off highway. ONLY when the oil is warm currently using 20/50 oil due to this rattle (improved situation) and if I drive just a certain way, I can avoid the rattle by going straight to negative deceleration from accelerating. When accelerating with any force there is NEVER a rattle. however if the tranny shifts at top rpm for your foots position on the gas, it'll rattle just before the shift, once in a higher gear the force of accelerating again or positive drivetrain force, prevents rattle it seems. SOUNDS like one tappet. or one of something. Cold engine cold oil NO rattle in any throttle position. Warm engine at idle sound will be there but not a clattery rattle just a tick/knock sound steady and I'm sure half engine speed.
View 5 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Hesitation When Accelerating From A Stop / At Half Throttle Car Bogs Down
I have a '99 passat 1.8t Tiptronic. 106,000 miles. Recently I've been getting a bad hesitation when accelerating from a stop. At half throttle the car kinda bogs down and hesitates then as the rpms get higher it seems to clear out and accelerate smoother. At the same time the car doesn't have the same sack it used to. I checked he plugs, found them very fouled. Replaced them and the problem got a little better, but definitely still there. There has to be a reason the plugs fouled. There is no CEL so I don't really know what to check first.
View 2 RepliesPrius (Gen 3) :: Cable Rattle Noise At Low RPMs
I have recently had the fix done on my Prius for the Vibration after Cold Soaks. I also installed the Signal Side Mirrors around the same time. Shortly after both of these changes, I started to notice a noise coming that sounded like it was coming from the engine compartment in front of the passenger. It sounded like a cable rattling against a plastic piece. The noise did not always occur.
I assumed that this was the cable for the side mirrors rattling around inside of the bumper. I opened this area up and used fittings to secure the cable much better. This did nothing. The noise was the exact same.
Passat (B6) :: 2002 - Slight Rattle When Accelerating
Have a 2009 Passat, automatic - just hit 2000 miles. When accelerating, I hear this very slight rattle sound. Seems to come from the front of the car. Almost seems to appear when the car is shifting. Also, don't hear it all the time. Should I be concerned ?
View 3 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Rattle Or Grind When Accelerating Around 3k RPM
I have a 2003 Jetta Gli , 24v vr6 with a 6 speed transmission.
Well this all started last night, started to drive, when accelerating , around 3k RPM I start to hear a rattle or grind. This only happens around 3k while accelerating. Once letting off the gas or pushing the clutch in, it goes away. Sometimes after 3k it'll go away.
Prius (Gen 2) :: 2008 - Engine Noise When Accelerating
I have a 2008 Prius and recently hit the 85K mark. A couple of weeks ago, about a week after my most recent oil change, I started noticing a noise when I accelerate. It's kind of a wah-wah-wah-wah or wuh-wuh-wuh-wuh noise that gets faster the faster I'm going. It's not terribly loud - I can't hear it if the windows are open or if the volume on my radio is cranked up.
It disappears when I stop accelerating or sharply reduce my acceleration. At about 40-50 mph, the noise goes away. I'm not sure if this is because road noise blocks it out, or it's so fast-paced that it just becomes one constant noise.
Today for the first time since this all started, I also noticed that unless I'm not accelerating at all, I have poor gas mileage (like under 25 mpg). This happened once before and went away the next day so it might be unrelated.
Can I wait until my 90K service to have this checked out? Should I visit my mechanic now? Do you think this is a timing chain issue? What am I looking at?
Prius (2004-09) :: Noise In Engine While Accelerating
So after doing some troubleshooting and researching in trying to find out on my 87K 2008 Prius Std "Noise in the engine while accelerating", "Approximately 10% reduction in fuel efficiency, due to lack of power from engine" & "Glide seems to be degrading over time", here is what I have observed.
1) When I push the gas when the car is parked the engine does not seem to rev in a stream, it goes up for about 3 seconds then goes down for 1 second, then again goes up and then down and this keeps happening until the gas pedal is kept press. In conventional cars the rev should be streaming continuously and proportionately to the pressure applied on gas pedal. This almost seems like a misfire, but from the drivers seat I do not hear any blasts, I have never tried this before so I don't know if Prius's are suppose to be like this. Also no Alarms on the MFD.
2) After using the 5.25 oz fuel injector cleaner in back to back half tanks I saw the engine regaining power and hence bettering the fuel efficiency. Does that mean I should get a Fuel Injector cleaning done by Toyota?
Golf/GTI VI :: Throttle Delay When Accelerating From A Stop And Early Shift Into 6th Gear
I recently purchased a 2012 Golf Sportline 2.5 auto. I also currently own a 2006 Jetta and 2008 Rabbit both 2.5 automatics. Both older cars run and drive great with this engine and tranny combination for me. However with the 2012 I really notice a throttle delay when accelerating from a stop and a very early shift into 6th gear when in the gear selector is in drive mode causing engine lugging. Shifts into 6'th at 60 kph doing 1100 RPM.
This I find is very annoying compared to my other two VW's which have better throttle response and shift a little later into 6'th allowing the engine to turn at 1400 RPM allowing for better acceleration without having to kick it down a gear.
I have taken it back to the dealer hoping for a ECM flash update but nothing is available from VW and my vehicle ECM has all other current settings and updates. I ve looked into aftermarket solutions such as the Sprint Booster which allows for a more responsive pedal but based on my other VW's my 2012 should not preform like this.
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: High Oil Consumption / Throttle Sticky When Accelerating From Lower RPM
2003 Santa Fe, about 142,500 miles, 2.4L, 5-Speed Manual. It appears that oil consumption is 1 quart per 2500 miles.
No leaks present that I can see, no smell, no visible "smoke" from exhaust. I change my oil every 3K, so this doesn't seem too bad for the age and mileage.
Other issue: Throttle seems "sticky", especially when accelerating from lower RPM (under about 1700). I notice this especially when accelerating out of a corner in 2nd gear: If I'm attempting to climb a hill, she'll begin to hesitate as if the throttle isn't responding properly. I'm thinking it's more me, as I've recently gone from driving a 2000 VW Passat V6 to this Santa Fe with less horsepower moving a heavier vehicle. If I keep the RPMs above 2000 or just give the throttle a good press, she'll (usually) not "buck" or hesitate. Is there something I can check for? I've never really experienced this on other 4-cylinders, but those I4's have always been small cars.
Prius (Gen 3) :: Dashboard Rattle Noise Every Time When Accelerate
Prius 2010 UK model, rattle noise coming from the dashboard between the speaker grill and the A shaped trim/glass window driver side (UK model) every time I accelerate, is there constantly all the time, is driving crazy, 9 hours a day in the car most of the week and this bloody annoying rattle. Can't stand it anymore.
View 5 RepliesPrius C :: Rattle Coming On At Times - Radiator Fan Noise?
Just hit 20k and noticed a "rattle" coming on at times up front, popped the hood as I was changing the oil last night and found that when the fan kicks on it sounds like it's hitting something. With the car off, I spun it by hand both ways and no sound/interference.
